Day 19: Which area has the coolest soundtrack?

For the most part I don't keep memory on soundtracks in an area though I can recognize them. But I really enjoy the theme that plays in Ten Carat Hill/Resolution Cave.

Day 20: Have you tried any challenge runs? If so, how did they go?

I've done a few nuzlockes like a couple of months ago. One of a harder Platinum that I somehow lived. Then the same for Black 2.

I had started a Silver one but I haven't returned back to it.

Alakazam17 June 12th, 2017 3:23 AM

Day 20: Have you tried any challenge runs? If so, how did they go?

I've completed a Psychic monotype in Blue and a Fire monotype in Y. I've attempted a Psychic monotype in Crystal and a Poison monotype in Y, but I never completed them. And I am almost finished with a Bug monotype in Blue.

Day 20: Have you tried any challenge runs? If so, how did they go?
Not much of a challenge fan

Spyro June 12th, 2017 5:13 AM

Day 5: How were you introduced to the Pokémon games? My dad played Blue when it came out, and I really enjoyed watching him play. He eventually bought me my own GBC with Pokémon Silver :3

Day 21: Do you miss the Game Corner? What was your favorite minigame in it?

Not really, no. Didn't spend much time in any of them. I always just straight up bought the coins for the prizes. Voltorb Flip was pretty good though.

Alakazam17 June 12th, 2017 10:44 AM

Day 21: Do you miss the Game Corner? What was your favorite minigame in it?

Not particularly. I would either just buy all the coins I needed outright, or if that was too difficult I'd just soft-save, reset if I lost too much, and repeat until I had what I needed, at which point I would walk away and never come back.

Never really done one, though I consider trying it sometime.

It was a nice feature, but not that I really miss it.

Lunar June 12th, 2017 1:42 PM

Day 19: Which area has the coolest soundtrack? - Really love a lot of Hoenn's soundtrack, so Littleroot Town or Route 101 does it for me, because of nostalgia.

Day 20: Have you tried any challenge runs? If so, how did they go? - Yeah I've tried a couple of Nuzlock runs before, I completed a White Wedlocke and failed a HGSS nuzlocke.

I do, even though I rarely actually used the slots, I just bought the coins. =p

Day 21: Do you miss the Game Corner? What was your favorite minigame in it?

I didn't like it, since I'm usually against gambling, and it totally made sense why it was axed as a feature after HG/SS due to PEGI (European ratings system) restricting it to 12 and over. I only bought coins anyway since I sucked at the slot machines.

I don't know... Music isn't my priority in games ._.

Day 20: Have you tried any challenge runs? If so, how did they go?
Haven't tried any challenge yet, maybe in future!

Day 21: Do you miss the Game Corner? What was your favorite minigame in it?
Not truly, I'm not regular user of game corner, best mini game= voltorb flip.

Don't miss it, but I used to play the slots a bit. Once I finish the game I have enough money to buy coins to get Porygon.

Day 22: What's your favorite NPC quote? Why?
I barely take any quotes with me in real life, but one of my favorites must be from Grovyle in Explorers of Sky.
(Though technically he wasn't a NPC at that point, but whatever.)

Alakazam17 June 13th, 2017 1:34 PM

I started this on the fifth day, so I'll go back and answer the first four now before continuing on:

Day 1: Your favorite and least favorite Pokémon game?

My favourites are Diamond & Pearl as they introduced WiFi play. Before that I couldn't play with real people due to my living in a rural area. As for my least favourite, probably Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon, at least until Game Freak gives us a reason to want it(which I'm sure they will).

Day 2: Most recent Pokémon game you played? What were you doing?

Blue Version. I started a Bug Monotype and most recently beat Gary on my way to the Elite 4. That was a few weeks ago though, but I hope I can finish it up eventually.

Day 3: What Pokémon game do you think had the best art style?

Maybe Gen 5. I loved all the bridge scenes across Isshu, especially the underwater one in B2W2.

Day 4: Do you battle competitively? Why or why not?

I used to, back in Gen 4. I stopped in Gen 5 due to a combination of WiFi battles no longer being 6v6 and Smogon's rules getting way too out of hand. They're even worse now so I don't know if I'll ever go back.

And now I'll get back on track:

Day 22: What's your favorite NPC quote? Why?

This actually comes from Lass Haley on Hoenn Route 104: "If you're faced with a decision and you let someone else choose for you, you will regret it, however things turn out." I like it because I've had to learn that lesson from experience. ¬_¬

Radiating June 13th, 2017 1:54 PM

Day 22: What's your favorite NPC quote? Why?

N's farewell, i like how it ties his character together after how the story progressed.

thedestinedblade June 13th, 2017 3:19 PM

I like a lot of the stuff the NPCs in BW have to say. They're pretty self-explanatory, but not something you'd expect to find in a pokemon game.

"Having everything go your way is the road to disillusionment. - Caitlin

"Rrrraaaaar! I'll run! You gonna chase me? You run! Am I gonna chase you? Change your perspective-- and the reality changes." - A freakin' toddler

EC June 13th, 2017 5:25 PM

Day 22: What's your favorite NPC quote? Why?

"Strong Pokémon. Weak Pokémon. That is only the selfish perception of people. Truly skilled trainers should try to win with their favorites." from Karen.

Because competitive battlers should remember this as well.

Hikamaru June 13th, 2017 5:48 PM

Day 22: What's your favorite NPC quote? Why?

"Shorts are comfortable and easy to wear!"

You know how much I love it when a Youngster in the games says that.

Absolitetion June 14th, 2017 3:48 AM

Day 23: Do you tend to be either overlevelled or underlevelled when playing?
Definitely underlevelled. All the time. Always.

Spyro June 14th, 2017 3:55 AM

Day 7: Do you organize your PC boxes? What kind of layout do you use? Before I opened a Trade Shop here, I sorted my boxes by Types, with a fitting wallpaper. I did this since Gen 3 Sapphire came out, and I only reorganized a few months ago. Now I have 2 boxes for cloning, 6 boxes for eggs, 12 boxes for Rareballs, 2 boxes for free/dump Pokémon, the rest is for events and Shinies, but most of those are in my Poké Bank.

Hikamaru June 14th, 2017 7:21 AM

Day 23: Do you tend to be either overlevelled or underlevelled when playing?

Mostly overleveled, but I do find myself grinding a lot if the next opponent is infamously tough.

EC June 14th, 2017 7:26 AM

Day 23: Do you tend to be either overlevelled or underlevelled when playing?

I am always just right. I make sure my entire team is the same level as the next gym leader I am facing before I even enter that gym.

Or trial, as it was in Sun & Moon.

Radiating June 14th, 2017 7:52 AM

Day 23: Do you tend to be either overlevelled or underlevelled when playing?

In Gen 1-5 I tend to be underleveled, but in the current games I'm overleveled.

Alakazam17 June 14th, 2017 10:35 AM

Day 23: Do you tend to be either overlevelled or underlevelled when playing?

I try to be severely underleveled, and I go lower every time. In Sun and Moon I notably got Incineroar's Z-Crystal while I still had a level 15 Litten on my team. {D:}

Lunar June 14th, 2017 12:40 PM

Day 21: Do you miss the Game Corner? What was your favorite minigame in it? - Nah I never really used it much tbh, apart from when I wanted a Porygon.

Day 22: What's your favorite NPC quote? Why? - "Stop right there, kid! You're still light years from facing BROCK!" a nostalgic classic.

Day 23: Do you tend to be either overlevelled or underlevelled when playing? - On the newer Pokemon games, I'm usually significantly overlevelled, but on the older games, my team is usually always around the level of the gym I'm facing.

Cool_Porygon June 14th, 2017 8:08 PM

Day 22: What's your favorite NPC quote? Why?
If I'm wearing a bikini, where do I keep my pokeball? Heehee.

A little over, but not massively so.

Aniket Dev June 14th, 2017 8:47 PM

Day 22: What's your favorite NPC quote? Why?
"Dream your dream! Follow the path of truth to make that dream a reality" by N

Day 23: Do you tend to be either overlevelled or underlevelled when playing?
Overlevelled in almost all Pokémon game's?! 8)

jombii June 14th, 2017 9:09 PM

Day 8: Who's your favorite NPC from the Pokémon games? Why?

Skyla. She's so cute, and I love her.

Day 9: Do you use your Master Ball?

Yes. I did once on roamers. Now, I use it on unnecessary legendaries on my monotype runs.

Day 10: What villainous team did you like the best?

Galactic. They were the closes to ever reaching their goal.

Day 11: What was your first Pokémon to reach level 100? How long did this take you?

Typhlosion back in Gold. I can't remember how long though

Day 12: Do you prefer 3D or 2D graphics? Why?

3D. When it comes to graphics, new is always better.

Absolitetion June 14th, 2017 9:57 PM

Day 24: What's the most annoying status effect for you?
Paralysis and/or confusion.
And that is because of the probability on whether you attack or not. With Sleep/Freeze you know your Pokémon won't attack, but with paralysis/confusion it may attack or not, and when it doesn't, it pisses me off more than anything else.

Brendino June 14th, 2017 11:05 PM

Whoops... missed a few days.

Day 18: Which character has the coolest battle theme?
Assuming we're going with trainer themes here, both of Ghetsis' tracks are great. His BW theme really goes well with the importance of your battle with him, and his B2W2 theme goes well with his more power hungry demeanor.

Day 19: Which area has the coolest soundtrack?
The Johto Game Corner in GSC has probably the best soundtrack out of any of the Pokemon games. I could listen to it for hours, and was so happy to find out about the GB Sounds in HGSS. I probably spent way more time playing Voltorb Flip than I should've just to listen to the music, haha.

Day 20: Have you tried any challenge runs? If so, how did they go?
I've wanted to on a few occasions, but I can never remain interested long enough to follow through. My most recent attempt was with a Nuzlocke run on Moon, which I abandoned shortly after the first trial. Maybe if it was an actual feature added to the games, I'd be more likely to complete one.

Day 21: Do you miss the Game Corner? What was your favorite minigame in it?
While my day 19 answer applies here too, I also liked the roulette tables from RSE, especially when it was one of the high roller days. A bit disappointed that it didn't make a return in ORAS, since I would've been content with another game of Voltorb Flip!

Day 22: What's your favorite NPC quote? Why?
"Eek! Did you touch me?"
- Lass Robin, from 20 feet away when I wasn't even looking at her.

Day 23: Do you tend to be either overlevelled or underlevelled when playing?
I'm usually a bit overleveled through the majority of the game, until I reach the Elite Four, where I like to be slightly below the champion's levels. It makes for more interesting fights, and feels like a bigger accomplishment when I win.

Day 24: What's the most annoying status effect for you?
I always flip-flop with my answer on this one, but burn cutting your attack while still injuring you is tough to argue against.

Hikamaru June 14th, 2017 11:43 PM

Day 24: What's the most annoying status effect for you?

Confusion. It's always that one status that works against me, and even after Sun & Moon nerfing it to a 1 in 3 chance of hitting yourself, I still often hit myself. Hate Kahili's Oricorio and Teeter Dance with a passion because of this.

Alakazam17 June 15th, 2017 3:23 AM

Day 24: What's the most annoying status effect for you?

Paraflinching. I know it's technically two, but it's still my answer.

blue June 15th, 2017 5:28 AM

Day 22: What's your favorite NPC quote? Why?
"Strong Pokémon. Weak Pokémon. That is only the selfish perception of people. Truly skilled trainers should try to win with their favorites. I like your style. You understand what's important. Go on — — the Champion is waiting." -- Karen

Day 23: Do you tend to be either overlevelled or underlevelled when playing?
I aim to be underlevelled to make the game more challenging, but there have been times when I've become slightly overlevelled which is never too much of a problem. Turning the Exp. Share off in the later games can greatly help with this.

Day 24: What's the most annoying status effect for you?
Confusion just annoys me to no end. It always seems to work in favour of the enemy yet never in my favour.

Spyro June 15th, 2017 6:48 AM

Day 8: Who's your favorite NPC from the Pokémon games? Why? Gladion, because he reminds me of my emo years lol
Day 9: Do you use your Master Ball? Never. I find it ugly, and I always keep it for extreme emergency (ex Shiny Pokémon that flees, or uses Self-Destruct)
Day 10: What villainous team did you like the best? Team Skull!!! <3
Day 11: What was your first Pokémon to reach level 100? How long did this take you? It was my prized Zangoose in Sapphire, that a childhood friend gave to me. She had the EXP boost and I got her to Lvl100 in Sapphire in about 100 hours I think. Grind is painful in that game.
Day 12: Do you prefer 3D or 2D graphics? Why? 3D. X&Y and SuMo were astonishingly beautiful. I find pixelised graphics not very pretty, especially in a XL console. I don't find their retro charm better visually.

Radiating June 15th, 2017 10:19 AM

Day 24: What's the most annoying status effect for you?

Confusion, only because of how lopsided it is. Whenever my Pokemon gets confused, confusion lasts forever and it always hits itself. Whenever the opponent has it, it always goes away quickly.

Morimoto in S/M. This guy's AI is so smart that he always seemed to switch his Pokemon regardless of whatever attacks I throw at him, usually into something that resisted the move.

Dusk Ball, works well inside caves and during nighttime and has a catch rate of 3.5x
Very useful.

Hikamaru June 17th, 2017 5:39 AM

Day 26: What's your favorite Poké Ball type?

In terms of design, the Dive Ball. However, in terms of usability it's between the Quick Ball and Dusk Ball.

Desert Stream~ June 17th, 2017 7:09 AM

Day 25: What would you say is the toughest Trainer battle you've ever faced?
I agree with most of the stuff above. Red took me about 6 years to beat (mostly because I lost the cartridge but shhh we don't talk about that...) and the rival battle was pretty tough. PWT battles were also tough. And cynthia from D/P/P.

Day 26: What's your favorite Poké Ball type?
Beast ball. I wanna farm a few hundred of these and catch me a shiny cutiefly in one (If only you could have custom pokeball starters :()

Quick Ball. Great for post game catching low level Pokemon.

Brendino June 18th, 2017 1:13 AM

Day 25: What would you say is the toughest Trainer battle you've ever faced?
The toughest battle that I actually managed to win was against Cynthia in Platinum, and I'd still rank it as my favorite battle against the CPU in any of the Pokemon games. The toughest battle overall for me probably would've been against Ghetsis in White. I was a fair bit underleveled for the fight, and I didn't have great variety in my team, so it took me about 4 or 5 tries to finally beat him.

Day 26: What's your favorite Poké Ball type?
For the longest time it was the Dusk Ball, primarily for it's 3.5x effectiveness at night (and in caves). Now that the internal clock in my 3DS is 12 hours off, I don't use them as much, since the games always think it's day when I'm playing. Now I usually turn to Premier and Luxury Balls, even if they don't give a boost while trying to catch Pokemon, I just like the way they look.

Either Steel/Ground or Steel/Electric...basically anything part-Steel. They mostly have great defences and a lot of resistances. Not as many as they used to unfortunately; Steel/Psychic used to be a stand-out as well but now they've lost their neutrality to Dark & Ghost. =/

Absolitetion June 18th, 2017 6:45 AM

Day 29: Main series games on the Switch: what are your thoughts?

Can't wait. If done right, this has the potential to be the best selling games not only in this series, but of all video games in general.

Day 28: What's the funniest moment you've experienced in a Pokémon game? - Probably talking to that man outside the Celadon Gym for the first time, I remember I found the whole idea of him really funny.

Day 29: Main series games on the Switch: what are your thoughts? - I'm seriously hyped, it will probably lead me to buy a Switch and with the capabilities of the console we could be seeing some amazing features and gameplay. Like EC said, they could be the best Pokemon games of all time.

Day 28: What's the funniest moment you've experienced in a Pokémon game?

Team Skull, they're just comical and great.

Day 29: Main series games on the Switch: what are your thoughts?

Love it. Knew that it was only a matter of time, but to get confirmation so soon is even better! I'm excited to see how the game turns out and with the potential that the Switch has, it is most definitely something to look forward to.

Day 29: Main series games on the Switch: what are your thoughts?
I am not likely to buy the console regardless, but a good move to do it.

Day 30: What are you hoping the next main series Pokémon game will be?
There are many things I could name, but I'll just name something that'd be on the top for me.

Personally I hope for a game that has at least two regions and which lasts longer, both in main story and post-content.

Day 30: What are you hoping the next main series Pokémon game will be?

A direct sequel to Sun & Moon that contains Gyms in Alola. If it is anything like how BW2 was compared to BW then I'd be happy with that.

Day 14: Did you ever use a strategy guide for a Pokemon game? I have the official strategy guide for Diamond and Pearl, and it's super cute and useful. I use it to plan my teams most of the time, and it helped me understand Natures and Breeding back when I got it.

Day 30: What are you hoping the next main series Pokémon game will be?

I do hope Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon have stuff that can set it apart from the original Sun & Moon, like maybe establishing Gyms in Alola. But as for the next game after that, I'm definitely guessing it'll be 8th Gen.

And with that, we end another 30 Day PGC Challenge. It has been great taking part in one again after missing the last one.

Day 30: What are you hoping the next main series Pokémon game will be?

Just a big blowout on the Switch. Give me Kanto and the new region. Give me following Pokemon. Give me a Battle Frontier.

Day 30: What are you hoping the next main series Pokémon game will be?

Too good to be true haha.

I'd love a bigger region, preferably combined with older regions as well. I'd like 100+ new Pokémon, including new evolutions and pre-evolutions of older Pokémon. I want more trainer customization. I want following Pokémon to return. I want to see the return of 4th Gen style WiFi mechanics. I want an in-depth story. And most of all I want it to be more challenging.

Lunar June 21st, 2017 12:36 PM

Day 30: What are you hoping the next main series Pokémon game will be? - I would love to have a really beautiful, diverse region, with loads of amazing new Pokemon and preferably a trip back to a previous region. One of my biggest wishes is for a great post-game, a second region fulfils that but I would love a Battle Frontier too. Oh, and Pokemon following you, with the Switch, I hope this would all be possible.

Day 30: What are you hoping the next main series Pokémon game will be?
I want gorgeous archipelago with tons of new forms, more tropical environment and most important Gym's. Basically upcoming ultra sun and Moon are more likely based on BW2. So definitely that's enough for me... :DDD

Also, finally i have completed my first challenge! Yay B)

Day 30: What are you hoping the next main series Pokémon game will be?

I'm hoping they keep the no HM thing from SM, but I hope gyms return. I'm also hoping for a higher number of new Pokemon to be introduced. Also DP Switch remakes.

Qibli June 21st, 2017 10:55 PM

Day 25: What would you say is the toughest Trainer battle you've ever faced?
Red is mostly hardest and BW2 I say Cyhtia

Day 26: What's your favorite Poké Ball type?
Dusk Ball, it always handy during nightime and money saver

Day 27: What's your favorite type combination? Why?
Dark/Fighting, just unqiue

Day 28: What's the funniest moment you've experienced in a Pokémon game?
Some funny innuendo about swimmer girl or those barry bumps into

Day 29: Main series games on the Switch: what are your thoughts?
I highly doubt some remake gonna be for switch, but I'm not so sure about it yet

Day 30: What are you hoping the next main series Pokémon game will be?
Sinnoh remake nuff said

Day 30: What are you hoping the next main series Pokémon game will be?
Well I'd love to see an open-world game for the Switch.

Spyro June 22nd, 2017 4:33 AM

Day 15: What's your favorite evolution method? How about your least favorite? Fav: Inkay with the "turn the console upside down". It's really creative and funny. Least fav: Trading with held item. I used to have some fully evolved Pokémon requiring a trade item, and going through the GTS for hours helping people. ;^;

Looks like this has wrapped up! (except for Soapy who is clearly stuck in the past, send help!)
I hope everyone enjoyed the questions, I tried to depart a bit from the beaten path of topics we normally bring up in these events. Seeing as this went pretty well, we'll probably be doing another one of these later in the year.

Thanks everyone who participated!
