Wait an hour after eating to swim..

"Don’t go swimming for an hour after you eat or you’ll get cramps" - I guess everyone have heard this phrase, right? xD An article about this is right below...v

While article already stated what science thinks i want to hear your thoughts :p How much true this is? Did you ever experienced this?

Yes, I've already heard that especially as a kid, and since my mum really worries me she always said I should wait 3 hours before going back to swim so I've never experienced this. :)

When I'm alone though I just stick with 1 hour which should still be fine.

To be honest, I've never experienced this myself. I never have cramps after I eat and go swim.

Man I eat WHILE I swim and I'm fine. Well, I don't eat in the pool, I go in and out to eat but, you get the point.

I was a lifeguard for 6 years and I don't think I have ever seen this happen

What I do know is, it's not uncommon around here in New York for people to die of heart attack while shoveling snow in the morning after having a good, heart-healthy breakfast.

I've always been warned about this but nothing happens to me. I just feel heavy

I've lived near many rivers my entire life, and I always eat and jump right back in. Nothing's ever happened to me that's weird.

Growing up, I was never told to wait an hour before swimming. However, 20 minutes was the given wait period. My dad was in the Navy when he was younger so I guess he knew a little about that? I don't really know.

But I've never had trouble even if I did rush in.

I've never heard this either, and to me this seems like a biased study. I was in a pool the other week (I often do not go swimming, mind you), and I did not experience cramps at all despite diving in after eating.
