Multi-Regional?

Do you think that we will be able to travel to another region in the post-game? Do you hope so? Why or why not?

There are three strong(ish) possibilities that we could travel to & explore in USUM:
1) Kanto
-Lillie left Alola to explore Kanto, the SM player is from Kanto and all Alola variants originate from Kanto. We could explore Kanto probably from Lillie giving us a Ferry ticket and boom we're off there!

2) Unova
-This is a long shot but mentioned in previous threads, there is a strong chance USUM will have a strong link to Unova from SM having connections to BW characters, especially focused on Colress (who is theorized to be behind the Necromza & Mascot Legendaries fusions). There could be a wild card chance that we could explore Unova. (But highly unlikely-but still a possibility)

3) Ultra Dimension
- We will most likely be exploring the Ultra Dimension again but we could be given a chance to revisit the Ultra Dimension again & again.

jombii June 12th, 2017 10:28 PM

Ultra Dimension is possible. I doubt the others though.

PeePi Coming S. June 12th, 2017 10:48 PM

Im inclined to hope that its 1 and 3.

1 is pretty plausable considering that this gen has such a strong connection to the kanto region.

pkmin3033 June 12th, 2017 11:09 PM

This seems highly unlikely to me. I would have thought that if they were going to let us revisit Kanto they would have done so in Sun/Moon, the 20th Anniversary titles, and revisiting Unova before Sinnoh remakes seems...a little odd. If we were going to revisit any region in these games I would have said Kalos was the more likely choice, but given that would mean remaking the place to Gen VII's visual standards, that doesn't seem likely either.

I think we're just going to have to accept that the Johto games were one-offs. It's never going to happen again.

I wouldn't count Ultra Space as a separate region...not unless it gets a map of equal size to Alola. Which it won't. Nintendo games do love their mirror image Dark Worlds, though. If we're getting a second region of any kind I think it'll be the Alternate World.

Famon June 12th, 2017 11:18 PM

Maybe , We can revisit Kalos region on USUM .
After all , Kalos region never got a remake or Squeal while the S/M game Datamine reveal Kalos region to be listed on game location.

blue June 13th, 2017 2:54 AM

Of all the regions, I'd say Kanto is the most likely due to the references and connections Alola has with Kanto. Lillie setting off to Kanto is the perfect follow-up story to head over there after the events in Alola blow over and it'd make for some great postgame content. While they're not interlocked like Johto and Kanto were, we do have various forms of transport that could be easily integrated into the game making traveling a whole lot easier. Ultra Dimension is almost a certainty imo.

Nah June 13th, 2017 5:28 AM

I would hope that we can explore an expanded Ultra Space in US/UM, it was so disappointing in Sun/Moon, could've been cool like the Distortion World. And when you slap the word "Ultra" onto the title you'd kinda think that there'd be some expansion on it and the Ultra Beasts.

It also would be the far more likely thing to happen to US/UM. An expanded Ultra Space would be more like an extra dungeon rather than a whole 'nother region and so is more likely due to less dev time and resources required. I just don't see us truly revisiting any region other than Alola in these games right now.

User19sq June 13th, 2017 7:39 AM

I feel only the Ultra Space is feasible. Adding a newly-redone region, even if it's an old one, would slow the games to an extreme crawl, considering how much data they already hold. Adding another region would require these new titles to be an N3DS exclusive experience.

Hikamaru June 13th, 2017 8:27 AM

I can't really see this happening, and as Angie said if they wanted to revisit Kanto they should have done it in S/M as a 20th anniversary commemoration. However, with the announcement of a new Pokemon game on the Switch at E3 today, maybe that could answer the "multi-regional" wish since the Switch does have some neat graphical capabilities that are superior to its predecessors.

shadowmoon522 June 14th, 2017 7:38 AM

i wanna see ultra space and the alt world being more explorable.
it would also be interesting if theres a secret underground region thats existed under alola that no one on the surface knew about. i mean, we have had plenty of underground stuff to know that one could quite literally be anywhere

I would love to see a second region. I'd say that's probably the only thing that could get me really excited for these games because I just don't really feel like Sun/Moon were fun enough to justify playing a rehashed version of them. They need something more.

Mikewind June 14th, 2017 8:36 AM

I highly doubt they'll be a second region to explore. I do hope there will be more islands cause Alola as a whole felt a little small to me.

the whole being locked into one path thing didn't help, nor did the constant explaining of every little thing.
it was also disappointing how little there was in the battle between the tapus vs UBs cut-scenes.

Lunar June 14th, 2017 12:23 PM

I honestly think it'll be years before we're able to travel to another region and as much as it pains me to say it, I really doubt USM will allow us to go to Kanto or somewhere. We can dream though :(

Alex June 14th, 2017 1:44 PM

I was really, really hoping for a SM sequel where Lillie somehow signals to the protagonist that she's in danger and you go to Kanto to save her. I'd love if we could journey to Kanto in USUM, but I won't hold my breath. The Ultra Dimension seems more plausible and that would also be fun. (and also a nod to Platinum? idk i never played plat lmao)

This would be really dope. Something completely off what one would expect for the game, but more enticing than anything in the realm of predictability. I'd love to see them go with something like this, but in reality I don't see it happening - obviously, I could be wrong and hope I am. I'd be even more excited if Kanto wasn't the other region, even though it makes the most sense in Alolan terms - Kanto's one of my least favorite regions. I'll take what I can get though.

Alexander18 June 16th, 2017 2:02 AM

They won't do two regions again. And no more kanto. It is over done. If any region should get a revisit, it is kalos.

Thanks for posting this.

I would say it would be cool if we could go to Kanto but I doubt it. Going through the ultra wormhole could happen though. Nice theory's, btw :)

Intelligence June 16th, 2017 3:41 AM

I only see Ultra Space as a possibility. I'd rather explore Kanto in full fledged sequels than shoved into USUM. Johto could be added to the sequels as well then.

You are welcome. Kanto is brought back so many times that is has become stale and annoying. I rather see kalos or Sinnoh return but in their own games.

Famon June 19th, 2017 2:52 AM

Honestly , I want Alola to get a Mainland.
I disliked Alola because it feel so small , poor and rural compare to other region since it entirely made of 4 Island.
It feel like Game-Freak took Whirl/Sevil Island and leveled them as region for Alola.

Whilst I can see your point, I think there is just as much content on the islands of Alola as there is any other single region. I think the disjointed feeling comes from the fact that you can't surf between them...there is no real sense of travel progression, as you're ferried from one to the next. They have a very linear, stage-based feel to them in that regard, and I think the easiest way to make them feel more expansive would be to open up sea routes between them and let you actually explore at your own pace, rather than take a "stage clear!" sort of approach to them.

Linearity has always been a thing in Pokemon games, but in Alola it was especially problematic due to that stage-based approach and the hand-holding NPCs; the content was there, you just weren't allowed to explore it at your own pace. In that sense, a few small design changes - freedom to move about by yourself - would be enough to make Alola feel a lot bigger without actually adding all that much new content. Design is just as important in these things.

the Alolan naturalist June 19th, 2017 4:01 AM

I don't think it will happen, but I still think it's fun to imagine going back to other regions. Kalos if they decide to make Zygarde actually do something for the storyline (travelling from Kalos when it senses a disturbance in the ecosystem...Even though that's what the tapus as here for) or Kanto if we want to go meet Lillie.
From what I understand. which is little, the 3DS can't handle a much bigger game than SM so I don't think a whole other region would happen, but maybe we could visit select locations? Like Ultra beasts go after Lillie somewhere in Kanto and maybe because of the intersection of the two dimensions you can only access part of Kanto, the rest being blocked off by wormholes. That would allow us to visit familiar locations without having to make a big commitment to a whole other region
