September predictions

So, it's already September, a new month in some areas already and that means another thread to speculate possible news that may drop during the month.

Like before, what new pieces of US/UM info do you think will be covered this month? What are you hoping to see from both CoroCoro and the next trailers?

HeroLinik August 31st, 2017 11:12 AM

OK, so the games are pretty much two and a half months away and they haven't really done much news-wise - all we know so far is Ryuki and Kahili are getting more screentime, Kommo-o's getting its own Z-move and Lycanroc's getting a new form. There's nothing really been said on whether there's going to be new Alolan forms, whether we're going to have gyms or trials or even what the missing empty lots are in Seafolk Village and Mount Hokulani are going to be used for because they still seem to be unoccupied. Also, at this moment in time we're probably going to get some details on the plot and what it'll entail; hopefully we'll find out if we've got to face off against Team Skull/Aether Foundation again or if there'll be a new evil.

Hikamaru August 31st, 2017 11:33 AM

That reminds me, I'm surprised we haven't had new Alola Forms announced yet. Especially after the reveal of Dusk Form Lycanroc made me think we'll be getting new forms of existing Pokemon.

I'm hoping that they will save most of those for us to discover as they practically revealed all of the Alolan formes pre-release for SM.
I am expecting more news in September (still August here, so can't say 'this month'), and October, with some last minute news for November.

PkmnTrainerElio August 31st, 2017 7:24 PM

I expect a trailer in a week or maybe even two weeks, possibly covering a bit more content and revealing an updated Gladion, Hau and Lillie (New artwork) and maybe another trailer two weeks after that one, possibly revealing new Alola forms.

Alright, let's see :/ One random trailer, corocoro will feature stuff from the anime. I don't think there's really gonna be too much this month

If I recall, CoroCoro this time last year did reveal stuff like Silvally and both Midday and Midnight forms of Lycanroc. The trailers released around that time also revealed stuff like Tsareena, Ribombee and Jangmo-o's evolutions.

I think there's a decent chance we may get game info, considering that happened with last year's October issue, coupled with the announcement of the Sun & Moon anime.

If every1 said that they dont think we will get any major news in July, August and September, then when is it fair to get significiant news considering that the games r due to be released soon :/

July had no news, and August had two trailers. I'm likely guessing at least another two trailers.

Yes but the first trailer of August was pretty lacking, and except for that (boring) picture club and a new form for a pokemon already existing in SuMo, we havent gotten any significiant piece of information that would hype us up for this game.

Do we even know if it's a sequel or a remake? I know there's been a lot of debate but has there been anything official from Nintendo?

It's been promoted as a so-called "alternate story" but considering the major changes to Alola with new locations being added, I'd probably consider it more of a sequel like B2/W2 was.

Silvally wasn't officially revealed until October of last year, CoroCoro hinted that they would be revealing Type: Null's secret in their next issue. The September Issue showed both forms of Lycanroc as well as Buzzwole and Pheromosa back when they were known as UB02 Absorption and UB02 Beauty. The trailer that came out in September also showed Passimian and Oranguru alongside Lycanroc. Another thing that I should point out is that this is the same timeframe when we started getting a lot of information on Black 2 and White 2.

Thanks for the correction. It's just that I thought it was around this quarter of the year that Silvally was revealed.

  • Possibly more information in regards to the story itself. Perhaps possibly hints as to what it may contain.
  • Perhaps another form of another Pokemon, but my hopes aren't too high on this. Rockruff was kind of a big deal when it was showcased, so this might be the only seventh gen Pokemon with this treatment.
  • This ties into the story point, but I think it's likely we'll find out more information about why Solgaleo and Lunala look the way they do, and perhaps more clips with Necrozma.
  • More information on the additional islands that were revealed.
  • Possible post-game revelations, although this is perhaps too soon for that and more suited towards October-ish.

Things I'm not expecting:
  • Alola forms. The reason why I have no expectations for new alola form revelations is because, to the best of my knowledge, no actual evidence of the such have been unearthed by dataminers in SM. You would think additional forms would be hidden somewhere in SM's code, unless you can't somehow trade USUM exclusive Alola forms to SM, which would be really dumb.
  • New seventh gen Pokemon. Although I don't think anyone really is expecting this. What we saw is what we've gotten, and I don't think Game Freak is adding any more new Pokemon to this generation.
  • Anything regarding the Ultra Beasts. That's too much of a spoiler and would be best saved for near game release. Possibly an October reveal, if anything.

Interesting thoughts you have, but I'm most likely expecting post-game stuff won't be revealed before the release of the games.

Since I feel the Battle Frontier will never be a thing again, I'm probably not getting hopes up in regards to postgame content since I feel these games will do more of that than S/M and I want that to mostly surprise me.

If they continue revealing small locations like the photo buildings, then I think they could reveal the Dream Park with tons of fossil pokemon. Assuming it will be built in USUM. That is one way of adding "new" pokemon to USUM by recycling old pokemon. Maybe even Alolan forms.

To be honest a part of me doesn't understand why fossil Pokemon aren't found in the wild. With all the trainers who must be reviving and breeding these Pokemon, you'd think there would have been some sort of restoration of the species by now.

Even if nothing official was carried out, what happens to all those fossil Pokemon that get released into the wild by trainers?

I think it would be less in the wild and more just in a sort of Safari Zone within the Dream Park. But yea that is an interesting question.

Phyrrhic September 2nd, 2017 2:25 PM

I hope we'll see something about the evil teams.

I expect to see more Pokemon forms and more info about the legendaries.

August was underwhelming for news so I'm really expecting them to ramp it up for this month. We're literally two months away from release now and this is probably the longest we've gone without any solid news for new games with such a short space to the release date.

WingsofBliss September 3rd, 2017 6:46 AM

My prediction for news in the month of September: we ain't getting $#!%.

Joking aside, I'm sure we'll get a little something. I have an idea that's best suited for another thread though and it involves the hyped Misty and Brock appearance in the anime.

I mean let's admit it, this is the shortest period of time between announcement and release since B2/W2. When news drops from here on out, it needs to deliver well so that we don't lose hype which was exactly the issue lately when it came to news distribution.
