We need a food thread in addition to the weather thread

Edit: i stand corrected, we have one. needs to be stickied imo

moon September 25th, 2017 12:39 AM

Honestly, the most casual things people who hardly know each other can talk about are weather and food. If we ban those from our casual thread... Then all the topics remaining are those that might as well get their own threads anyways! Instead of having weather and food interwoven with bursts of other random topics here.

I demand weather return to the DCC!! Organic chit-chat, not synthetically controlled topics!!

Oh it's going to be a Coke from Chick-Fil-A. Waffle fry day as well.

string555 September 27th, 2017 12:27 PM

I prefer the waffle fries from Carl's Jr., except that they're like 80% grease. Probably why they're so good. XD

Sothis September 27th, 2017 12:35 PM

I have never had waffle fries, they look so good ;_;

Limey-chan September 27th, 2017 1:38 PM

I've tried to cut out sugary, fizzy drinks, like all I have in my fridge is fruit juice. It's so hard when where I work is right next to a McDonalds.

Also, I am a huge idiot for napping earlier when I have to be up in around 6 hours time to catch a train. Unsurprisingly, currently not tired in the slightest, urgh.

EC September 27th, 2017 2:34 PM

My rule is, as I have said before, I avoid sugary drinks for as many days in a row as I had them. So recently I had three in a row, so I'm taking three days off.

Sothis September 27th, 2017 2:42 PM

I don't drink pop/soda, even at McDonalds I just get the juice

Sothis September 27th, 2017 9:42 PM

I haven't slept in over 24 hours, myself

Sawsbuck September 27th, 2017 10:14 PM

I average around 3-4 hrs of sleep on weekdays and have never felt tired
Usually go to bed at 2 am and wake up at quarter to 7
No coffee or caffeine either

Limey-chan September 27th, 2017 10:29 PM

I'm hopeless on anything below 6 (though depending on who you ask i'm equally as hopeless on more than 6 lol), today it's amplified because man flu :(

Zeffy September 27th, 2017 11:29 PM

i go to sleep at around 5-6am and wakeup at around noon. on the bright side, at least i'm getting 6 hours of sleep! back when i was still in uni i only slept for 3-4 hours almost every weekday

string555 September 28th, 2017 7:24 AM

Apart from waking up multiple times a night, I typically get good sleep. The exception is when I'm working on a program, and I encounter a problem that I can't figure out right away, in which case no sleep for me. :P

I did go through a weird fit of insomnia when I was a young teenager, I had only slept about 2 hours in one week. To this day, I still don't understand what caused that. :/

Sothis September 28th, 2017 12:41 PM

nooope
I go to bed around 11pm.. can't sleep any earlier, since I already have so little free time and want to enjoy whatever of it I have. but even if I got 8+ I'd still wake up groggy, especially when it's still dark out, I know that from experience =x I'm not meant to be awake so early. Waking up before 9AM has always been hard.

Hahaha trust me, I understand the free time thing (: Do you have caffeine (i.e coffee) anytime in the afternoon, or have any electronics that you screw around with before going to sleep?

Sheep September 28th, 2017 6:08 PM

I don't drink coffee or have anything with caffeine really, and some nights I'd tinker on my phone for a few minutes before bed.. but that's it honestly. I feel like I just gotta get used to the fact that waking up early is hella hard for me ;.;/ and yeah what is free time lately tbh

EC September 28th, 2017 6:11 PM

Caffeine doesn't do anything for me other than pain relief. I once had a Coke an hour or so before bed and still fell asleep easily and slept soundly.

El Héroe Oscuro September 28th, 2017 6:13 PM

I did some research awhile back on this cause I struggled with waking up groggy all the time, and it's all centered around melatonin production. Basically you want to avoid caffeine after like 2PM in the afternoon to cleanse your body of it, as well as avoid electronics at least am hour before you go to bed. Both inhibit your production of the hormone. Eating right and exercising also have profound effects - has done wonders for me at the very least

Sometimes if I'm feeling really anxious I'd take benadryl to help make me sleepy but yeah. natural sleep is best sleep <3 In regards to anxiety I've started taking other things, so I largely moved away from the benadryl in general.

yeah its cause its an 'express' bus
those cost $6.50 and are bigger/more comfortable. except there's so much traffic in the morning i'd hardly call it express haha. it's messed up how it takes me 2 hours to commute from nyc to nyc.. that's the same amount of time it'd take me to drive from here to pennsylvania.
regular buses and trains cost $2.75 but sadly i can't use that option to get to work, cause i'd have to take the train to the ferry, take the ferry to manhattan, then the train.. which would be like 2.5 hrs. i'd die
