Been awhile, but decided to take a break from some of my other projects to get back into this challenge. Went with the Duo-species challenge in Kalos. I chose to use Azumarill and Scolipede for this. Didn't run into too many issues due to these two having good typings and being able to deal with most other typings. I had never really used Scolipede before this run and really enjoyed using him.
Going to move onto Johto now and probably do the Retrograde challenge. My Team: Spoiler:

I think I need to request a reroll for the Hooligans and Vagabonds Challenge for Kanto, though, because it's not actually possible to put together the full team of six in any one Kanto game without hacking in a version-exclusive.

Hey, Janp, I was glancing over the older bingo challenge, I'm wondering why Year of the Gogoat was removed, I think that one would be fun to play, even though it's alot similar to What's your sign.

I've done those a while ago, but never got around to posting the update (as usual). As such I don't remember much about the runs other than being really surprised by how powerful Zangoose is, it basically swept everything (also while training my initally caught Zangoose, I found a shiny one :D, so I put that one on my team)

Had an RNG pick my first challenge: Rolled a 47 with the numbers going across per region playing Gen5 the In-Order Challenge is first up. Going to do blaze black 2. :)
Naturally i picked Oshawott, caught weedle, caterpie, pidgey, patrat, and purrloin so far giving me 2 sets of order possibilities. I'll probably just pick whichever team ends up being built first until I have better options. |
Made some more progress on this challenge. I completed two more challenges for it. The first being my Johto Retrograde challenge. This wasn't too difficult, but I tried to use some pokemon I don't use very much, which included a couple of trade evolutions, which was a nice change.
My Team: Spoiler:
The second challenge that I completed was the Unusual Sighting challenge in Sinnoh. This one was fun due to not knowing what I would be able to get or what I was missing out on. My team, again, ended up consisting of some pokemon that I hadn't really used that much. My Team: Spoiler:

Your (User)Name Challenge (Kanto) I started off and chose bulbasaur as my starter.I had to literally do a solo run until 4th gym , after which I got the rest of my team. The pokemon I chose are V - Venomoth I - Ivysaur P - Poliwrath E - Electabuzz R - Rydon Currently, I have got 6 gym badges and am going for Cinnabar island gym. Team: Spoiler:

The Order challenge: blaze black 2 badge 1
1 badge down, Lillipup swept until Munchlax and then i had to switch to Oshawott to finish. Due to the increased difficulty of this hack I had to grind to level 13 for my entire party to get through the perfect stat team of the gym leader. Seems like i'm using Oshawott, Lillipup, Purrloin, and Patrat. I boxed the weedle, caterpie, pidgey for now, they would have been my other set. Starting to wonder if I should have just picked normal Black 2 but oh well, went looking for a challenge and I've found something. |

The Order challenge: blaze black 2 badge 2
Since the first badge was more difficult than I expected I got everyone's levels up to 20 before starting the gym. The first 2 battles were still pretty rough so I got another level to each member. Watchog took down Trubbish but couldn't take the Koffing who despite being confused made short work of Watchog. Herdier took advantage of the confusion to Work Up for 3 turns then took Koffing down in a single Take Down. Super potion in hand, Take down finished off the Croagunk. Despite being low health i bet everything on another Take Down. It wasn't enough to knock out the whirlipede. Liepard was destroyed immediately from steam roller and Dewott managed to finish Whirlipede off with a Razor shell. Very close fight. I almost lost but I now have my 2nd badge. Screen shots: Spoiler:
Oshawott, Lillipup, Purrloin, and Patrat are now all evolved as Dewott lv21, Herdier lv22, Liepard lv21, and Watchog lv22. I fought a trainer with all fighting type and realized my team is completely ruined by fighting type. I decided to swap my team out for Beedrill through Raichu instead. The Virbank Complex had a pichu and outside of the virbank complex was spearow and nope rope, err danger noodle, sorry - it's ekans. Now I just need a Ratata to complete the team. |

Spoiler:
Bingo Progress: 0/49 Took forever and a day for me to do enough to be worth updating about, but school + work = no time. Current Challenge: Love at First Sight (Kanto) I started with Bulbasaur to have an easier time early. My other early team members were a Pidgey and a Kakuna. I beat Brock no problem, and grabbed a Spearow on my way to Cerulean. I had to grind for a while, but eventually my newly evolved Ivysaur and Beedrill took down Misty. Spearow evolved soon after. I went though the S.S. Anne and grabbed Cut, but not before grabbing a Diglett out of the cave. Said Diglett took down Lt. Surge with no problem. Current Team: Spoiler:
Badges: Boulder, Cascade, Thunder |
Could I suggest an update for Sword/Shield?
Almost all challenges would work fine, though with Elite Mash-Up, you could just use the tournament style matches for it (there are exactly six fights before the Champion). And obviously exclude Unusual Sighting as I don't randomizing is a thing (yet). Obvious spoilers for the ideas: Spoiler:
Now that that's done, can I please get an additional 5 on my card for Sword/Shield? :) |

With the team I'm planning, my first team member can only be caught in Petalburgh Woods, so when I got there I caught a Slakoth. I have to somehow beat the rock gym with only this thing. I thought there's no way I'm going to do this with a Truant Normal-type, so I did the longest grinding section of the run to evolve Slakoth right away. Once I got Vigoroth though, bulking those Rock-type attacks was a lot easier. Brawly surprising was pretty easy as well. Vigoroth can tank a lot of Fighting-type hits with his great defense for early game. In the Granite Cave, I caught a Makuhita and fought the trainers in Route 109 to level him up. By the time I reached Mauville, Makuhita was almost evolving, and after he shone in the Wattson battle, he finally became a Hariyama. These two carried over for the rest of this segment pretty much. I was able to catch three more members: a Numel, a Swablu and a Magnemite. Together, Vigoroth and Hariyama were unkillable in every gym battle. I was able to get all badges up until Winona, and the Exp. Share was really useful to level up my weaker Pokémon. Now I'm thinking of doing another grinding section though to get some more levels and evolve Swablu. Team: Spoiler:

Hit the Gym - Pokémon Alpha Sapphire Part 2: The Final Part - Final Part https://cdn.bulbagarden.net/upload/8/82/Spr_B2W2_Norman.pnghttps://cdn.bulbagarden.net/upload/e/e6/Spr_B2W2_Brawly.pnghttps://cdn.bulbagarden.net/upload/3/30/Spr_B2W2_Flannery.pnghttps://cdn.bulbagarden.net/upload/9/97/Spr_B2W2_Winona.pnghttps://cdn.bulbagarden.net/upload/8/8d/Spr_B2W2_Wattson.pnghttps://cdn.bulbagarden.net/upload/5/59/Spr_B2W2_Wallace.png Okay, so I beat the final two gyms and completed the whole Team Aqua thing. It was a ride. I caught a Sealeo and added it to the team, and I also accidentally let Vigoroth evolve... I knew it was gonna happen sooner or later with how clumsy I am. Alas, guess I'll just have to deal with Truant for the rest of the game. I actually did all of this yesterday but didn't feel like posting, so here I am today. Before venturing through Victory Road though, I went back to teach some moves to my mons. I got the Thunderbolt TM and taught it to Magnezone, Stone Edge for Hariyama, Shadow Claw for Slaking, Earthquake for Altaria and Ice Beam for Sealeo. I also got Flamethrower for Camerupt in the Victory Road. Before Challenging the League though, I did some level up on Sealeo so it could evolve and catch up with the levels. He hasn't gotten to do much in this run tbh except Surf me around, so I want to give him a chance at the E4. After the grinding session, I entered the League at last. Sidney was first, and everything just went down to Hariyama's Brick Break. Phoebe gave me a little bit of trouble with her bulky Dusclops, and Slaking's Truant really held me back here. Hariyama also had a super-effective move though, thankfully. Glacia's Froslass couldn't stop evading my attacks, which was annoying, but her Pokémon couldn't do much to hurt me. And everything in Drake's team just died to Walrein's Ice Beam lmao. Steven's battle was actually pretty fine. I led with Walrein and took down almost all of his Pokémon except Metagross. That thing killed 3 of my Pokémon with Giga Impact. I had a Mega of my own though, and when he used a turn to recharge I set up a Dragon Dance, and then an Earthquake was more than enough to knock it out. Spoiler:
So that's one more challenge complete in my Bingo sheet! I'll probably go back to Johto's Monoletter at some point since I managed to screw that run up... But I'll see if I can start over and get the same Pokémon, this time with no videos, unfortunately. Champion Team: Spoiler:

It's been a while, and since then I've completed a few challenges, no pics for most though. I could have posted these earlier, but I'm both lazy and busy. :)
Leaf Green - Elite Mash-Up This one was pretty easy Spoiler:
Fire Red - Grass Monotype (only one with pics) This one was difficult, the Rival had Charizard, Pidgeot, and Alakazam to get through along with movesets of very little variety. Spoiler:
Heart Gold - Monoletter A Pretty easy as well, Azumarill was (surprisingly) MVP by far, Ambipom was the worst, though not horrible. Spoiler:
Soul Silver - NFE Team VERY difficult, obviously due to the lower base stats. Machoke and Dragonair carried the team pretty well, Onix was just bad. And yes, I grinded EVs and fought in the Battle Frontier to get that Flame Orb, totally worth it. Spoiler:
|
Monoletter Challenge - HeartGold This is a reattempt of a previous run I was doing here which I couldn't finish.. But yeah, it's the same letter, and I'm planning on using the same Pokémon. Except this time I'll actually finish it. Segment 1 -Started the game and picked Chikorita. -Delivered the egg to Mr. Pokémon, battled Silver and then was able to resume my journey. -Chikorita evolved somewhere before the first gym. -Falkner was surprisingly easy. Bayleef is bulky and can tank Gust very well, and all I needed to do was just poison and attack him, and occasionaly use Synthesis. -Bugsy was just annoying. He's actually so random, I had to rely on luck to win that fight. I think I lost count on how many attempts I had, but it was basically X Defend + Reflect, then Poison Powder, get as many damage as possible with Razor Leaf and hope he doesn't crit U-turn and immediately kill me. It was very frustrating. Got there in the end though, thankfully. -Whitney's fight was annoying as well, but not near as annoying as Bugsy, since I didn't have to reset. Just the Attract and Milk Drink combination are pure cheese. -Caught a Machop on Mt. Mortar and Magnemite at Route 38. Grinded with both before facing Morty. -I had previously taught Payback to Machop to help against Morty, and it did. A lot. Each Payback just one-shot everything on his team. Magnemite had to paralyze Gengar first so Machop wouldn't get killed by a Shadow Ball though. -After the fight, Machop evolved. -In Route 41 I captured yet another team member: Mantine. -I used Magneton on Chuck's fight, and even though it's weak to Fighting, Chuck's only Fighting-type move sucks and doesn't even hurt Magneton if it attacks first... Easy badge. -Mantine just destroyed everything on Jasmine's team with Surf. Good job girl. -Did the Rocket quest thing. -Meganium one-shots everything at Pryce's gym with Petal Dance... except Piloswine, which lives at 1 HP, and kills my Meganium with a Blizzard. Magneton is able to knock it out with a Magnet Bomb after that. Team: Spoiler:
|
Monoletter Challenge - HeartGold Segment 2 -Evolved Machoke into Machamp. -Defeated Team Rocket again at Goldenrod. -Caught my final team member at the Ice Path, which is a Swinub. -Grinded all my members at the Safari Zone entrance, and then the fight against Clair was pretty easy with the correct switch-ins. -Fought the Kimono Girls at Ecruteak and captured Ho-oh. Now I'm able to go to the League. -Misdreavus literally solo'ed Will's entire team, most of Koga's team (except Forretress and Muk) and Bruno's entire team, so that's something. Had to keep her in the back for Karen though. -Magneton outsped Lance's Gyarados surprisingly, and knocked it out with Discharge. Mantine was able to weaken Charizard a bit, but was forced to be switched out. Misdreavus finished the job though. I brought in Magneton again to tank a Crunch from Aerodactyl and kill it with Discharge. The three Dragonites just dropped to Mamoswine's Ice Fang/Ice Shard. Nice 4x weakness to Ice. Spoiler:
Misdreavus and Mamoswine were definitely the MVPs for this Elite 4 Round. Let's see how Kanto goes now. Team: Spoiler:
@Janp if you see this, am I allowed to hack my Magneton into a Magnezone since you can't evolve it in HGSS, or should it stay as it is? |

Also since this thread is live again I should mention this: At the end of January I started with updating the main post with Gen VIII stuff, new CSS and updating the wording in all the challenges as all I did back in 2017 was just copy the 2013 version and add Gen VII Pokémon and few challenges. There are also few challenges that I think need some work and some that will be drastically changed. Because of that you can pick some challenges on your bingo and have them rerolled for new ones when the post is live. Which, if everything will go well, will be in few hours or in few days. |
The updated main post is live. One of the biggest problems I had with the original post was the way challenges and their rules were listed. So I borrowed some css code from my other threads and created list, that won't take that much space and is a lot better for looking up the rules of each challenge. Hopefully this will also be more mobile-friendly.
I also added few new challenges, so if you would like to re-roll some of your existing ones with the new ones, just let me know here which one you want to re-roll. |

With that gone I can finally post this. The hardest thing about this run was actually deciding which type to use. I couldn't decide between Rock, Electric and Ghost and after consulting it with people on Discord, I couldn't decide between Rock, Electric, Flying, Fairy, Grass and Ghost. I let the fate decide and end up with Ghosts. And it was pretty fun run. I started with Rowlet and quickly got Gastly and Misdreavus. Taking on both Ilma and Hala was fine with these three. Then I went to get some items from Ten Carat Hill and to my surprise found Sableye there. Really a great additional to my team. After that it was pretty standard run. I caught more Pokémon like Litwick and Sandygast and beat 2nd Island. When I got to the Acerola's Trial I decided to swap Misdreavus for Mimikyu, since Ghost/Fairy is so much better than pure Ghost. And once again, to my surprise Mimikyu stayed in front of my party for the rest of the game. Its ability is just so good. During this time I also noticed that I don't use Palossand as much as I though I would. Ground-type isn't really needed type in Alola apparently. So right before the Elite Four I swapped it for Snorunt. Another thing I noticed around Hapu's Trial was that my team was suspiciously underleveled. I'm not sure if I accidentally skipped some area or trainers, but my Pokémon were around 4-5 levels lower than Hapu and other major battles. But overall, as I said, this was pretty fun run that got harder because I got underleveled and Elite Four had counters against Ghosts. Mimikyu and Sableye were definitely MVPs of this run. Sableye was able to counter Dark-type attacks and Mimikyu is just awesome. Unusual Sighting -> Sandy Days Challenge |
Solo Run in Black 2 Anyway, I may as well update since I finished this one yesterday. I decided to hack in a Drilbur egg as my sole companion. It's got Aerial Ace as an egg move because I thought it would be useful later on, and it has its Hidden Ability Mold Breaker. It's also shiny because... I wanted to use a shiny ok? Spoiler:
I did some grinding for Drilbur to reach a reasonable level and got it to level 6, so I continued on with the story. Helped the guy at the Ranch find his dog and went to the gym. The battle was easy, Drilbur's Aerial Ace was surprisingly strong, plus a few Mud-Slap shenanigans. I fought some more trainers in the remainder of Route 20 and was able to reach Virbank City. There, I went straight to the gym as I felt comfortable about Drilbur's level. I was able to use Mud-Slap on Koffing thanks to Mold Breaker and knock it out, and just use Aerial Ace on Whirlipede until it died. After going through the boredom of Pokéstar Studios and fighting some Team Plasma, we finally reached Castelia City. I was pretty nervous about the fight against Burgh, so I equipped the Eviolite on Drilbur to tank a few hits and made sure I leveled him up accordingly. Burgh led the fight with Swadloon and I set up a Hone Claws against it. This fight was the main reason I gave Drilbur Aerial Ace, as it was able to one-shot both the Swadloon and the Leavanny later on, when I survived its Razor Leaf at less than half HP. The Dwebble was not a problem as it had no moves that could deal too much damage. I trained a bit in the Desert and Drilbur learned Rock Slide, a move that would be useful for the next gym. In the gym, I managed to trap Emolga on the field as it wasn't able to use Volt Switch on a Ground-type, and as one might expect, this wasn't a difficult battle for Drilbur. After fighting a couple of Team Plasma grunts in the city, Drilbur learned Earthquake at level 33 and I let him finally evolve into the powerhouse Excadrill. In Driftveil I also made him forget Aerial Ace to learn Iron Head through the move tutor using the shards I previously collected in Nimbasa. Clay's fight was tough. I lost the first fight and had the idea to go grab the Air Balloon to avoid being Bulldozed in the first turn. It worked, as I was able to set up one Hone Claws to neutralize the attack drop from Intimidate before Krokorok popped my balloon. I one-shot the Krokorok, but Clay's Sandslash is bulky and survived one Earthquake. It hit me with a Bulldoze and managed to drop my speed, which could be a problem when facing his own Excadrill. When it was sent out later though, the AI decided to click Slash of all things and I was able to easily knock it out. From then on, admittedly, there wasn't much in the game that gave me much trouble really. As Excadrill grew more and more overleveled, the fights turned out to be pretty straightforward, especially when it learned Swords Dance. Later I also caught a Pelipper with my Master Ball to use Surf and Fly and Terrakion to use Strength. Defeated Team Plasma easily, beat the Elite 4 and got to Iris' fight with a level 75 Excadrill! I managed to set up a Swords Dance against Hydreigon and the battle was pretty much free from then on. So that concludes another challenge from my Bingo. Spoiler:

The Character Challenge - Pokémon X Part 1 I decided to begin this challenge in X and Y because I was feeling like playing through Kalos again. I chose Serena from the anime as the character I'll be roleplaying this time, and I think her team is gonna give me an interesting challenge. Among only three final team members, only one of them is fully evolved. Surprisingly though, the first few gyms were pretty straightforward. I'm not sure if it's because of X and Y being easier games or because literally every one of the four first gyms' specialty type is countered by one of my team members. Fennekin/Braixen handles Viola and Ramos easily, Pancham eats Grant's fossils alive, and Sylveon had an easier time with Korrina than I did hunting for a female Eevee and making her evolve. As the game progressed though, and my NFE Pokémon started becoming apparent, I began to notice a few of my team's weaknesses (such as the Fairy-type) and it'll be interesting to see how I can fare with them. I managed to beat Clemont also surprisingly easily, with Sylveon shining against Emolga and even Magneton, and Pancham soloing his ace Heliolisk. He had to be put in the back for Valerie's gym, but Braixen learned Flamethrower and it helped immensely against her Mawile. Sylveon had to face her own Sylveon though, as she's learned a very powerful Moonblast and as I said, Fairy is one of this team's biggest weaknesses. Sylveon can pretty much handle everything that is put in front of her. I'm hoping I can find another Eviolite at the Pokémon Village later on for Pancham. Currently with 6 badges, in front of the Laverre Gym. The Pokéball Factory plot waits for me. https://i.imgur.com/F9G9uNN.png Team https://play.pokemonshowdown.com/sprites/xyani/braixen.gif Braixen | Hasty nature | Blaze Lv. 42 @ Eviolite -Flamethrower -Flame Charge -Psyshock -Grass Knot https://play.pokemonshowdown.com/sprites/xyani/pancham.gif Pancham | Quirky nature | Mold Breaker Lv. 39 @ Black Belt -Low Sweep -Crunch -Rock Tomb -Power-Up Punch https://play.pokemonshowdown.com/sprites/xyani/sylveon.gif Sylveon | Hasty nature | Cute Charm Lv. 41 @ Metronome -Moonblast -Skill Swap -Draining Kiss -Bite |
The Trio-Species Challenge in Pokémon Fire Redhttps://img.pokemondb.net/sprites/firered-leafgreen/normal/venusaur.pnghttps://img.pokemondb.net/sprites/firered-leafgreen/normal/rhydon.pnghttps://img.pokemondb.net/sprites/firered-leafgreen/normal/lapras.pngFINAL PARTLast Challenge for Kanto on my Bingo (after re-rolling) was Trio-Species, so I let the randomness choose my trio and ended up with Venusaur, Rhydon and Lapras. Which is pretty interesting team. I had to use Venusaur for first half of the game and it was painful to be honest. There are way too many Oddish, Bellsprout and Zubat, who all resist Grass, so I was glad to get Poké Flute and be able to catch Rhyhorn in Safari Zone. And because of that I was able to counter Pokémon mentioned above and easily overpower Rival's Charizard. And Lapras with her Perish Song was just icing on a cake. I can't even count number of times it helped me win. I know I beat Agatha and Bruno with it, because I wanted to spare some PPs for other moves for final battle. Overall PPs were the biggest opponent of this run. I got through Mt. Moon just by using Leech Seed and Poison Powder, just because I run out of PPs of Vine Whip. That's also the only reason I've decided to use Razor Leaf over Giga Drain. And so I finished another Challenge. The Character Challenge - Pokémon X Part 2 - Final At last, I've finished this challenge surprisingly. I had a couple of battles that were pretty challenging and took me a few tries to complete, such as the last two Lysandre fights, and I had to grind a little bit for the Elite 4 after being humiliated by Malva's Pyroar. I grinded a bit before my second try and got everyone to level 68, where I felt confident I could win this time. My plan of sweeping Malva with Pancham went downhill after she killed it with Talonfame landing a critical hit (probably didn't even matter), and I had to bring Braixen in and try to knock it out with Psychic. Eventually the Talonflame went down and I had to finish the battle with only Sylveon. The Metronome is an amazing item, I was able to recover the damage done by Talonflame with Draining Kiss on the Torkoal, and it kept being greedy using Curse over and over. Chandelure went down pretty easily with Shadow Ball. Sylveon was pretty much the MVP for this Elite 4 round. Except for Wikstrom, which Braixen together with Pancham could handle better, and Drasna's Dragalge, handled by Braixen again. Everyone had their screentime with Diantha, Braixen knocking out her Hawlucha, Pancham taking care of Tyrantrum, and Sylveon sweeping everything else. Overall this was a pretty challenging run, had to use many healing items after battles, and I think I could've probably got away without the Eviolite on Pancham. Spoiler:

Two are stone evolutions meaning I'm gonna have to do a bit of Pokéathlon grinding, but that's fine. To start off, I get to choose Chikorita, and not long after that I'd be able to catch Dunsparce at the Dark Cave. This thing is a 1% encounter there, meaning I spent a considerable amount of time running up and down. When I managed to find one it had a good nature and Serene Grace, two things I was glad about. Through this first part of the game, especially in the gyms, Dunsparce turned out to be the MVP. Early on, it got access to Rage, which I wasn't sure about whether was good or not, but gaining an attack boost in pretty much every single turn was awesome. Combining that with Dunsparce's fair bulkiness for early game and it was able to single-handedly destroy Falkner and Bugsy (with Rollout). I had taught Dunsparce Headbutt at the Ilex Forest, having a boosted 60% chance to flinch with Serene Grace. When I got to Goldenrod to face Whitney, the Glare + Headbutt cheesy strategy came through against her Miltank. She got flinched in pretty much every single turn, it was pretty funny. I'm not sure if I'll be ever able to pull that strategy off with any gym leader anymore, so I had to make this post as a tribute to Dunsparce's early game prowess during this run. Sandy Days Challenge - Pokémon Crystal Chose this challenge first simply because i've had an urge to play Crystal, especially after playing through HeartGold a couple months ago. Chose Totodile as my Starter and soloed with it until I hit Violet City and used the ingame Bellsprout trade for Onix. I immanently hacked in a Metal Coat and traded to get Steelix since it was an essential pokemon for the challenge and you can't get one until after the E4 overwise. After the 1st gym, I caught Sandshrew in Union Cave which i'm pretty sure are the only 2 pokemon eligible for the challenge that you can catch before Kanto. Bugsy was the first challenging Gym Leader because of the mechanic in Gen 2 when overpowered trade pokemon don't obey you until the 2 badge which made the fight more annoying then it had any right to be. The other Gym Leaders to give me a challenge were Chuck, Jasmine and Clair. E4 went by fine until I reached Lance, whose Gyarados completely tore through my team, forcing me to retry the E4. Thankfully, I had Rollout as a TM available, which after actually saving infront of Lance and changing up my tactics, was a saving grace. His last Dragonite that knows Fire Blast was still a pain, however thankfully Steelix was just about enough of a defensive beast so that I could just Hyper Potion and wait for it to run out. I beat the E4 in 10 hours, making it 13 hours quicker then when I tried beating the game in Heartgold making a full team. The Challenge was pretty fun, and I didn't realize how good Sandslash could be, especially after obtaining Dig, helping out in most of the Gym battles and the first 3 E4 members. Kanto Solo Run Given that my county is stuck on lockdown and I don't have to be in school right now, I figured there wouldn't be a better time to pick this challenge back up. I haven't done anything in a long while, and I'm actually trashing the run I was on originally, because I misinterpreted the challenge prompt and thus the run is invalidated. But today I picked my 3DS back up and set to doing a solo run in Pokemon Blue. There was plenty of grinding early on, as I had to evolve Champion from a Nidoran-M into a Nidorino in order to beat Brock. He evolved into a Nidoking by Misty's gym (using the ever-so-handy Moon Stone from Mt. Moon), but it still took a couple of attempts to get past Starmie. A lucky crit with Thrash was able to get the job done, though, and from there the run was easy. Thrash helped sweep trainer after trainer until late in the run. It was the way Lt. Surge went down, as well as Erika and Sabrina. By Koga's gym, I had gotten the TM for Earthquake, so that took him down, and did the same for Blaine, along with the HM Surf. Giovanni was easy to finish with Surf and Ice Beam, leading to the Elite Four. Lorelei was a pain, but after a couple of tries Champion was able to live Lapras's Blizzard on 5 HP and hit a Thunderbolt to take it out after sweeping the rest of the team pretty easily. Bruno's team went down to Surf easily, and Agatha's team went down to Earthquake. Lance was an easy sweep with Ice Beams and a Thunderbolt for Gyarados, leading to the final battle against Blue. Pidgeot went down in two Ice Beams, followed by Alakazam and Rhydon going down to Earthquake and Surf, respectively. Arcanine went down to an Earthquake, leaving only two Pokemon left. Exeggutor was a pain, but eventually we took him out at close to full health after he missed a Hypnosis. Blastoise went down in two Thunderbolts and that's all she wrote for this challenge. I'd also like to give a special shout-out to Leia the Charmander, the team's HM slave, who helped with Cut and Strength despite never growing past LV7. I was able to get the rest of my team members rather quickly after that, and after some grinding went to face Morty. It was a fairly simple battle, and Dunsparce got to shine again. None of Morty's Pokémon could really hurt it and it had just learned Pursuit. Since I got more type coverage on my team, the following gyms went pretty well, without needing of hax from Dunsparce. Starmie could handle Chuck with Psychic and Flareon easily beat Jasmine with Flamethrower. Pryce was the same deal as before, all of his team is ironically weak to Grass, so I used Meganium. Petal Dance did the trick. I struggled a little bit with Clair and failed 3 attempts at beating her with an underleveled team, so I decided to go grab my last team member and grind some levels. Once everyone reached 38 I felt more comfortable in taking on the gym. Starmie was able to one shot Gyarados this time with Thunderbolt and handle her two Dragonairs with Ice Beam. I tried to do some hax with Dunsparce against her Kingdra but it didn't last long. At least it was able to get paralyzed, which opened the door for Meganium to clean up the fight. All 8 Johto badges are now acquired, which means I'll be taking on the Elite 4 soon. Definitely need to do some training first and Donphan needs to learn good moves... Team Spoiler:

I think it was during the time I was really burned out of Pokémon games, so that was probably the reason. Anyway, this second try was much better and I enjoyed it. I used a little bit different team that I planned on having the first time and I think it made things more interesting and challenging. I picked both Pelipper and Walrein because Hoenn has too much water and I finally tried Solrock in action. If I remember correctly, I've never used it and it saved me several times, especially in E4 battles. EDIT: After checking my Hall of Fame post, I found Randomized Nuzlocke run from 2013, where I've used Solrock. So it has been about 7 years since I last used it. The rest of the team worked pretty much the as I though they would be. Manectric and Hariyama were the main powerhouses and, alongside Pelipper, carried me through most of the game. Camerupt was there to take care of Grass-types that were annoying in the early game, when Pelipper (as Wingull) didn't know any Flying-type move. The hardest battle was the double battle with Tate and Liza, since I didn't really have 2 Pokémon to deal with them. I lost once to them because Claydol and Xatu just swept most of my team on their own. Psychic-types overall were pretty problematic type, but luckily there aren't that many in Hoenn. This was also another run, where I tried not to just rush E4 with whatever moves and items I currently had on me, but took time to relearn some of the HMs I had on my Pokémon and give them item they would benefit from the most. Here are some of the battles I had along the ride: Spoiler:

I made it to the Elite Four and upgraded everyone's movesets. The fights there were fairly easy. Starmie literally the MVP because of its great speed/sp atk and movepool variety. Ice Beam bodied two of Lance's Dragonites, and it even did well against three of Karen's Pokémon. Donphan was also able to get the screentime it deserved, walling a bunch of enemies such as Machamp and Aerodactyl, and hitting hard with Earthquake and the coverage it had. Overall I'd say this wasn't the most interesting run I've done in my Bingo so far, but still fairly enjoyable. But yeah, moving on with my other challenges ig. Spoiler:

I randomly picked Litten as my starter and found out I won't be able to trade for a long time. So I continued the story and caught Grubbin on Route 1. No problems so far. Finally getting to the point I can trade, traded Litten for level 16 Psyduck. Since the Totem Raticate is level 12, I have to get rid of this Psyduck. But before that I decided to trade Grubbin first and got level 41 Carbink, so I'll have to trade both. So I traded Psyduck and got... level 11 Psyduck. Funny. And for my Carbink I got... level 1 Carbink. What is this sorcery? I get already guess this will be pretty nice ride. Anyway, Trainer School was easy this time, since the Teacher didn't have super-effective Pokémon against my starter. Another catch was Mime Jr. in Hau'oli and I traded it for level 8 Wingull. It's nice, but I don't want to use Wingull in another run. Battle with Ilma was also pretty easy this time around, even though his Pokémon still hit hard. Route 2 encounter was Ekans, which got gacha'd into level 14 Alolan Ratatta, which was traded for level 18 Slowpoke, which was finally traded for level 7 Alolan Grimer. That's pretty nice Pokémon for Ekans. While training I also got Hau'oli Cemetery encounter with Murkrow, which was turned into level 1 Eevee. That's another nice gift. I almost immediately decided to evolve it into Sylveon, since that's my least used Eeveelution. I was able to evolve it into Sylveon right before entering Verdant Cave, so Ilma's Trial was easy. Totem Raticate fell to 2 Fairy Winds. And so I was able to catch encounter in Verdant Cave - Alola Rattata. Which was traded for level 14 Crabrawler. That's another great addition for my collection. And to end this update I also got Route 3 encounter - Cutiefly. I traded it for level 14 Crabrawler. Déjà vu. Few trades later (Crabrawler -> Wishiwashi -> Magikarp) and I have level 1 Shroomish. Unusual Sighting - Pokémon Black Felt like doing a randomized playthrough, so this was the challenge I took on next. Problem with randomized runs is that it can feel so slow to me in the early run, when you get and face strong pokemon in the wild with no real strong moves, so I stop started this save until after the 4th gym where I felt more motivated to play. All Pokemon were caught before the 2nd gym, there were no real challenges in any gym battle since I grinded well for them, however the last N and Ghestis battles were really hard, thankfully I mass bought a lot of those Health Roots in Driftveil City which if I had not, would had left me defeated at the Ghestis battle. I think I had to use at least 30 of them. Team Metagross - Level 54 https://img.pokemondb.net/sprites/black-white/normal/metagross.png - Psychic - Meteor Mash - Metal Claws - Hammer Arm Absol - Level 53 https://img.pokemondb.net/sprites/black-white/normal/absol.png - Swords Dance - X-Scissor - Night Slash - Bite Yanmaga - Level 50 https://img.pokemondb.net/sprites/black-white/normal/yanmega.png - Pursuit - Aerial Ace - U-Turn - Uproar Poliwrath - Level 48 https://img.pokemondb.net/sprites/black-white/normal/poliwrath.png - Surf - Brick Break - Scald - Submission Lickilicky - Level 47 https://img.pokemondb.net/sprites/black-white/normal/lickilicky.png - Shadow Ball - Bulldoze - Thunder - Surf Leafeon - Level 46 https://img.pokemondb.net/sprites/black-white/normal/leafeon.png - Quick Attack - Synthesis - Grass Knot - Magical Leaf Absol was definitely my MVP, Swords Dance + Bite is a really deadly combination in a lot of Gyms and most of the E4, making those battles a breeze. Metagross and Poliwrath also helped out a lot in the end game, while my starter Yanmaga and Lickilicky helped out in the early game. Challenges done - 2/49 |
Hit the Gym - Pokémon Black 2 Saw a youtube series with this game, and I never actually got around to beating this game at the time so I wanted to give it a go. Some of my original plans for my team where dashed when I realized how the location changes meant that Pokemon I wanted to use where either too late to use (Jellicent) or not obtainable before the post game (Druddigon). Playthrough was pretty easy, and I battled a lot more trainers then I normally would do, but I did black out once to the last trainer at Victory Road to his Golurk. Gym Leaders were for the most part easy (although I was underleveled for Marlon) and so was the entire E4. Team Excadrill - Level 65 https://img.pokemondb.net/sprites/black-white/normal/excadrill.png - Metal Claw - Earthquake - Rock Silde - Drill Run Swanna - Level 65 https://img.pokemondb.net/sprites/black-white/normal/swanna.png - Aerial Ace - Fly - Surf - Hurricane Stoutland - Level 60 https://img.pokemondb.net/sprites/black-white/normal/stoutland.png - Strength - Crunch - Thunderbolt - Surf Scolipede - Level 56 https://img.pokemondb.net/sprites/black-white/normal/scolipede.png - Steamroller - Double-Edge - Poison Tail - Bug Bite MVP was of course Excadrill, but Swanna was a lot better then I expected it to be. Stoutland and it's pre-evolutions were good enough for the early game, but while Scolipede did put out fights against Gym Leaders such as Skyla and knocked a few Pokemon out in the E4 (most noticeably Iris's Hydriogen), the lack of real good Bug and Poison TM's i could find made it pretty bad for use in the end game. Challenges completed - 3/49 |
Pick a Route - Pokémon Omega Ruby - Dewford Cave Decided to play through Hoenn, and thought the 6th gen games would be the best to make more Pokemon in my team a lot more useful with added evolutions and Mega evolutions. Dewford Cave was my choice since I thought it was the best place to obtain useful and balanced Pokemon for my team, something which came to be true in the end. Plus the EXP share system made it a lot easier to train up all of my team. Soloed the game with Mudkip before I reached Dewford cave, since I knew I needed to use HMs such as Surf (didn't know Hariyama could learn it at the time), Dive and Waterfall. The grind for Brawly's gym was tedious and it was the only time I actually wiped out during the playthrough, but once Zubat learned Wing Attack, it became a lot easier. It was annoying to have to backtrack to Dewford Cave twice (three times actually because I picked the wrong bike at first) to get my required Pokemon, but after that was done and my team balanced out more, the game became a breeze with only Glacia (because of Frolass) and Steven giving me a challenge. Team Mawile - Level 62 https://img.pokemondb.net/sprites/omega-ruby-alpha-sapphire/dex/normal/mawile-mega.png - Play Rough - Iron Head - Faint Attack - Fire Blast Crobat - Level 58 https://img.pokemondb.net/sprites/omega-ruby-alpha-sapphire/dex/normal/crobat.png - Fly - Steel Wing - Acrobatics - Venoshock Probopass - Level 56 https://img.pokemondb.net/sprites/omega-ruby-alpha-sapphire/dex/normal/probopass.png - Hidden Power (Psychic) - Earth Power - Thunder - Power Gem Aggron - Level 54 https://img.pokemondb.net/sprites/omega-ruby-alpha-sapphire/dex/normal/aggron-mega.png - Blizzard - Rock Tomb - Iron Head - Dig Hariyama - Level 53 https://img.pokemondb.net/sprites/omega-ruby-alpha-sapphire/dex/normal/hariyama.png - Rock Tomb - Surf - Reversal - Close Combat Mawile gets my MVP because of how useful it ended up being in the Elite 4 (Seriously, it had a counter for almost every Pokemon in there), but also Crobat ended up being extremely fun to use with OHKO's against a lot of Pokemon with Acrobatics. Hariyama was useful in the early game but slowed down, Probopass got off to a slow start, but once it got later in the useful, it became much more useful and Aggron came in clutch against Pokemon like Steven's Metagross. All in all, probably the best team I have had so far in this challenge. Challenges completed - 4/49 |
Culinary Challenge - Pokémon Fire Red Was watching a Leaf Green stream, so I decided to go through these games for the first time. If you're wondering how I got through this so quickly compared to the last challenge I completed, it's because I have a lot of free time and I usually play through the games at about 2-3x speed. I chose Fire Red because I wanted to use Arcanine. Game was mostly easy up to the Elite 4, but pretty much all of Gary's fights gave me a challenge (especially the level creep at Sliph Co). The E4 was a different story however. I bought about 35 Full Restores and almost had to use them all, plus about 10 Hyper Potions I had left and I used about 20 revives. Without those Hyper Potions, I mostly likely would have had to do another E4 run, and may have had to use the VS Seeker to grind up money. Still a really fun runthrough however. Team Venusaur - Level 52 https://img.pokemondb.net/sprites/firered-leafgreen/normal/venusaur.png - Earthquake - Razor Leaf - Sleep Powder - Vine Whip Arcanine - Level 51 https://img.pokemondb.net/sprites/firered-leafgreen/normal/arcanine.png - Bite - Dig - ExtremeSpeed - Flamethrower Snorlax - Level 51 https://img.pokemondb.net/sprites/firered-leafgreen/normal/snorlax.png - Solarbeam - Surf - Blizzard - Strength Primeape - Level 50 https://img.pokemondb.net/sprites/firered-leafgreen/normal/primeape.png - Aerial Ace - Mega Punch - Cross Chop - Brick Break I would say that all 4 Pokemon had their time in the sun although Primeape did slow right down at the E4. Venusaur took care of Misty, Lt Surge, Giovanni and the E4, Arcanine took care of Erika, Sabrina, Koga and the E4, Snorlax took care of Blaine and a good part of the E4, and Primeape took care of Brock, the Team Rocket events and Bruno of the E4. Sandy Days in Y I started this challenge way back, but didn't resume it until fairly recently because of other runs and stuff. Anyway, I played through the initial bit of the game with my starter until after the first gym where I could get my first Pokémon, Budew. (Roserade learns Weather Ball at level 1). I couldn't get my second partner until later on, so I had to solo this whole segment until Ambrette with just Budew. It was rough, the first problem I encountered was Sycamore's Bulbasaur, which took a lot to kill. Even at max special attack, Budew dealt ~1/8 of its health with Absorb, even at a few levels higher! It took a lot of turns, but I somehow made out of that alive. When a Kadabra almost killed Budew in Route 5 with Confusion I decided to be more careful with who I wanted to battle, so I opened the handy dandy Bulbapedia and checked every single route to see who Budew could potentially die to and try my best to avoid them. And I made out of that situation alive. After I reached Ambrette, on Route 9, I finally got my second friend, Hippopotas, and the main Sandstorm setter for my team. Inside Glittering Cave I was also able to get a Mawile, which will be the second Sandstorm setter. Budew finally evolved into Roselia sometime before the second gym, which was soloed by Mawile. In the next route I also caught a Sigilyph with the Magic Guard ability (which took longer than I expected to find). My last two mons were Carbink and Gible. Carbink is mandatory for the challenge and Gible has Sand Veil. From then it didn't even feel like the same run I started with just Budew. I thought the team was pretty balanced, except for an obvious Ice-type weakness, which proved to be a problem for Wulfric. I managed to barely win that fight with just a few mons remaining. The Elite 4 was pretty easy (Hippowdon had a great time Earthquaking everything) and even though Siebold's Gyarados managed to set up a few Dragon Dances I still managed to bring it down with Roserade. Diantha's Gardevoir proved to be a nuisance killing 3 of my team members but thankfully Mawile's Iron Head finished it off at the end! Building this weather-based team was pretty fun, and I'm looking forward to doing the other weather challenges in my sheet. The Wonderlocke Challenge in Pokémon Ultra Moonhttp://play.pokemonshowdown.com/sprites/xyani/porygon.gifhttp://play.pokemonshowdown.com/sprites/xyani/litwick.gifhttp://play.pokemonshowdown.com/sprites/xyani/vullaby.gifhttp://play.pokemonshowdown.com/sprites/xyani/abra.gifhttp://play.pokemonshowdown.com/sprites/xyani/tangela.gifhttp://play.pokemonshowdown.com/sprites/xyani/flabebe-yellow.gifPART 1Again here are some optional rules I apply for this run:
I once again randomly picked Litten as my starter and caught Grubbin on Route 1. Finally getting to the point I can trade, traded Litten for level 21 Cutiefly, which I traded for level 1 Tangela. Grubbin was traded for level 22 Rockruff and then for level 1 Porygon. So that's pretty interesting team made out of Pokémon I haven't used in a while. And both on level 1, so I had to train them first. Also Tangela apparently hatched in 2011 on Paniola Ranch. Someone forgot to set time properly. Trainer School was pretty easy this time around with Tangela taking care of everything aside from Alolan Grimer. It's painful to go through those tutorials again so soon. Anyway, Hau'oli City encounter was Furfrou, which I traded for level 20 Zubat, then for level 53 Slowpoke and finally for level 12 Spearow. So far pretty nice team, but too Kanto heavy for my taste. Ilma's battle was easier than the last time for some reason. I think I have bulkier Pokémon on my team now. And Tangela's Giga Drain is just so OP in the early game. Encounter for Route 2 is Drowzee and it just can't stay in the Ball. It took me 5 Great Balls I got from someone earlier to actually catch it. Nicknamed Sleepie, it is sent to Joker from Germany for level 34 Alolan Dugtrio. Which was then traded level 47 Incineroar, which was finally traded for level 1 Magikarp. I run straight into a battle with a trainer next to the patch of grass there with Tangela and Porygon asleep, so Spearow had to take on Cutiefly, which wasn't that easy with just Fury Attack and being paralyzed. Hau'oli Cemetary encounter was Gastly and Tangela killed it with crit Giga Drain. Ilma's Trial was also pretty easy, even without Fighting or Fairy-type. Tangela once again took care of everything with Giga Drain. Verdant Cave's encounter was Zubat. I traded it for level 12 Yungoos. Finally non-Kanto Pokémon. Route 3 encounter was Cutiefly. Caught and nicknamed Cutie, it was traded for leve 60 Stunfisk, which was traded for level 12 Vullaby. So far pretty nice selection of Pokémon. And first death of this run came rather quickly. Yungoos died to a random wild Hawlucha. I really hoped it would survive or move first, but Hawlucha's Karate Chop chopped it down. And it almost took down Spearow before finally fainting. Anyway, encounter for Melemele Meadow was Cutiefly and traded Pokémon was level 1 Magikarp, so I once again traded it for level 11 Flabébé. Seaward Cavern's encounter was Smoochum that took me eternity to catch and once again costed me about 10 Great Balls. There were no sad goodbyes when sending her away. I got level 1 Litwick for it. Now it's time for Hala. Vullaby almost died to Machop's revenge, but in the end beat not only Machop, but also Makuhita. Then it has been fighting Crabrawler, but it was pretty low on HP, so I sent out Spearow, which beat Crabrawler with 2 Aerial Aces. After that I got 1 more encounter on Melemele. Mawile in Ten Carat Hill, which was traded for level 1 Abra. This Abra is almost a year old. It was hatched on 31.5. 2019. I got to Akala Island and beat Sina before saving up. My current team looks like this. Some of my Pokémon are getting slightly overleveled, so I try to not use them often. I can't remember exact details, but after the battle Flabébé and Abra evolved. So that was great. I decided to immediately evolve Kadabra again and got super strong Psychic-type early on. But let's go back to my favourite part of Wonderlocke - obtaining new Pokémon. Paniola Ranch encounter was Mareep. I easily caught i t and nicknamed it Sheepie. I traded for level 1 Rufflet. Route 5 had Lillipup, who I once again caught, nicknamed Puppie and traded for level 9 Cutiefly. I decided not to put any of them on team for now. Battle with Gladion was pretty uneventful for once and my Porygon easily took down Type: Null. I was a little bit afraid of Lana's Trial, especially since there is Araquanid instead of Wishiwashi as Totem Pokémon. I sent out Trade against it and little bird was able to hit Araquanid once with Pluck, before being killed by critical Bubble. That was unexpected and hurt a lot. I was really enjoying using Vullaby and was looking forward it evolving. Well, Trade, you will be remembered. But the battle continued and I decided to avenge Trade with Porygon. Traded did a lot of damage, so Porygon was able to beat Araquanid with one Tackle. And that's all for now. I buried Trade in PC and decided to put its counterpart - Rufflet, on my team. Hopefully it will survive to the end. The Wonderlocke Challenge in Pokémon Ultra Moonhttp://play.pokemonshowdown.com/sprites/xyani/darkrai.gifPART 3Tangela shined in Royal Avenue where he destroyed Kukui's Rockruff and won me the battle. Going straight to Route 7, my encounter was Finneon. I got level 1 Shroomish for it. That's another good trade right here. So let's continue with another encounter in Wela Volcano Park. Fletchling was again easily caught and I traded it for level 13 Pikipek. This is not funny anymore. Can I get anything besides birds? And let's get to the Kiawe's Trial. It was disaster. I had literally no Pokémon that would have clear advantage and I for some reason put Floette in front of my party. And so Litwick, Porygon, Floette, Tangela, Alakazam and Rufflet died. So... complete wipe. It has been a while since something like that happened. I didn't want to go through the whole tutorial again so soon, so I picked some level 1 Pokémon I had in the box and decided to continue. My new team consisted of Popplio, Taillow, Shroomish, Spearow, Mudbray and Cutiefly. Good thing I skipped some trainers on Route 6 and 7. And... I accidentally run into a trainer on my way to grass and wiped again. This time on Oricorio. I only have Magikarp and Pikipek in my PC, so I think I'll restart the game now. But I think I'll try another challenge for now, since this left me emotionally scarred. Unusual Sighting in Leaf Green I started this one a long time ago but wasn't really in the mood to grind for the e4. I decided to finish it today though so I could start another one. The early parts of this weren't particularly hard, given the fact I had some fully evolved mons by then! I had a lot of fun playing a randomizer though, using some Pokémon I would otherwise not find in Kanto. Retrograde in Ultra Sun This one was a quick one. I was able to finish this in less than 2 days! Alola has a lot of good options for team members. This was harder at the beginning but turned out okay towards the middle. I had the Growlithe for the longest time since I waited to evolve it at level 45. Z-moves were really useful lmao. Some of the hardest battles were Ilima at Hau'oli when I had to use only one Magnemite and Molayne at the e4. Molayne's Metagross and Dugtrio were the biggest problems, but I used Tectonic Rage on Metagross with Swampert and Earthquake on Dugtrio. Spoiler:

Pokémon X Monocolor So sorry I haven't been active on this thread. Mainly due to procrastinating on which challenge to do which is somewhat hard. But I decided to pick this back up and go with a Red Monocolor challenge. So to begin with I go over to Serena and the gang to pick up Fennekin, cause it is arguable the best starter to choose from, and nickname it Flare cause it is a good name. Once doing that I make my way over to Route 2 to capture a Fletchling and Scatterbug. I decide to nickname the two Monarch and Phoenix. But then...after training Monarch up I realized that it is a Meadow pattern, not the Modern. So that was a bit of time wasted. Though glad A didn't level it up till it evolved cause that would've been a disaster in my opinion. So I then try to go for a Pansear to have another team member which I name Sole. Of course this means I'm going to have a fire type team for a bit, but better to have variety. I then decide to take on the gym, even though I'm somewhat under leveled. Though regardless of that fact, Viola was a push over. I used Sole and Phoenix against her Surskit and then finished things of by using Flare to take out her Vivillon. And with that the Bug Badge is mine! https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/538139263636865044/707314710542024874/HyperFennekin.png.gif Nickname: Flare Level: 13 Moveset: -Scratch -Tail Whip -Ember -Howl Held Item: N/A Nature: Timid Ability: Blaze https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/538139263636865044/707314712836177920/HyperFletchling.png.gif Nickname: Phoenix Level: 9 Moveset: -Tackle -Growl -Quick Attack - Held Item: N/A Nature: Naive Ability: Big Pecks https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/538139263636865044/707317442225111130/HyperPansear.png.gif Nickname: Sole Level: 7 Moveset: -Scratch -Play Nice -Leer -Lick Held Item: N/A Nature: Lax Ability: Gluttony |

So I decided to start out with type link Platinum and just finished it up. It was really fun! It was also my first playthrough of Platinum, as I had only beaten Diamond before. It feels much better imo, definitely way less clunky than Diamond (fast surfing, Flint having fire types, etc.)
Champion proof: (Will edit in once I have 5 posts) Heres the Team: Benny the Torterra (Soft Sand) Level 56 Impish Nature Ability: Overgrow - Curse - Earthquake - Razor Leaf - Rock Slide I've always wanted to run through a Sinnoh game with Torterra, so this run finally gave me a chance to do that. I was certainly not disappointed, as it was a beast with crazy strong earthquakes. He also carried me through the first few gyms, including Fantina (who destroyed the rest of my team). The ice weakness was hard to handle at times, but never too awful to make my experience with Torterra any worse. Impish was the perfect nature to boost up its already high defenses. Torterra was overall really fun and one of the better members of my team. Fatale the Roserade (Big Root) Level 54 Hasty Nature Ability: Poison Point - Stun Spore - Giga Drain - Grass Knot - Sludge Bomb Roserade is a classic Sinnoh staple for me. I've used Roserade in pretty much every playthrough of Diamond and it was always really good. This time was no different, as Fatale here was incredibly strong for most of the game. The worst part was that I messed up and tried to evolve Budew at night when it can only evolve during the day, so I had a budew for far longer than normal. However, once I finally got my Roserade, very little could take its giga drains and especially its sludge bombs. Very fun mon, would highly recommend. Crusader the Crobat (Amulet Coin) Level 53 Rash Nature Ability: Inner Focus - Fly - Confuse Ray - Poison Fang - X-Scissor Crobat is one of my favorite in-game mons in any game it appears in. Its speed and decent offenses make it the perfect flying type for me, even though its best flying type move is Fly (which I don't like as a move). The ability to get off fast confuse rays saved me far more times than I'd like to admit. I can say with confidence that Crusader here was the MVP of this run because of how many times it saved my team in dire situations. Amazing mon, 10/10 Predator the Drifblim (Spooky Plate) Level 54 Docile Nature Ability: Unburden - Shadow Ball - Charge Beam - Return - Fly Drifblim wasn't as good as I wanted it to be, but I still had a fun time with it. My main issue with it was that for most of the game, its best move was ominous wind, which has very low pp. Couple that with its decent offenses and you make a mon that is a little frustrating to use. I also wish mine had aftermath, as it died a lot and the extra damage would've helped compensate for that. However, once it got shadow ball, it became a lot more fun. Probably the worst mon on my team, but I still had fun with it. Superstar the Rotom (Magnet) Level 54 Relaxed Nature Ability: Levitate - Thunderbolt - Shadow Ball - Confuse Ray - Substitute Rotom surprised me the most in how good it turned out to be. I was a bit disappointed when I found out that I couldn't change forms without a special event, as regular Rotom has pretty lackluster stats for the most part. It hit surprisingly hard and was incredibly fun to use thanks to the combination of substitute and confuse ray. I had multiple battles where the opponent couldn't do anything and Rotom just swept their team. Rotom overall was incredibly fun in the right circumstances but still solid when I couldn't cheese people with it. Squishy the Gastrodon (Splash Plate) Level 56 Naughty Nature Ability: Storm Drain - Surf - Mud Bomb - Waterfall - Blizzard I wasn't planning on using Gastrodon initially. I was going to use an electric type (probably Jolteon) but then I realized that I didn't have a water type to surf and waterfall. I did not regret my decision though. Squishy was strong and bulky when it needed to be. My favorite moment of the run was when I was down to my last pokemon against Cynthia's Garchomp. I had Squishy out and I needed to hit a blizzard. If I missed, I would've lost. I hit the blizzard and OHKOed her ace. It was sooooooo satisfying!!! Gastrodon will always have a special place in my heart after that incredibly hype moment. Other thoughts/notes: I found a shiny!! Here's the proof: (Will edit in once I have 5 posts) Unfortunately I couldn't catch it (had no pokeballs :( ) but it's not like I would've used it anyways. The hardest battle was probably Cyrus' final match. His Weavile was way too good against my team, and I only won because I toxic stalled it with Gastrodon. The rest of his team was really tough too, and he was the only battle in the game that I had to save before. I was also very under leveled, which didn't help. I'm thinking about doing scramble in Galar next, sounds really fun bc I know that most of the pokemon in the game are available in the wild area really early. |
The Wonderlocke Challenge in Pokémon Ultra Moonhttp://play.pokemonshowdown.com/sprites/xyani/darkrai.gifATTEMPT 3 - PART 1I started with Rowlet this time and caught Grubbin on Route 1. After tutorial, I was able to wondertrade Rowlet for Yungoos and Grubbin for Rockruff. Not as entertainting as previous starting duos, but at least it's not Magikarp. But then the game said "no". But I'm getting ahead of myself. Since I chose Rowlet, the teacher in Trainer School had Litten and it burned Yungoos right in the first turn, making the whole fight long and way to harder than it should be with Yungoos. I was able to win and as reward I was able to catch Magnemite in Hau'oli City, which turned out to be Magikarp. Great. But I hoped I still could get something usable before Totem Raticate. But then Ilma decided to brutally kill any hope I had. His Yungoos obliterated my own Yungoos with critical hit. Rockruff was able to beat Yungoos, but was way to damaged to do anything against Ilma's Smeargle. I then sent out Magikarp with no damaging move and... My 3DS battery died. Ilma literally killed my 3DS. So while I still had Magikarp, I don't think there is a way I could win that fight. So, this attempt went really well. I can't wait to give it another shot. |

Bingo Type: 5x3 (No Kanto or Hoenn) Also, for Highest Stat, does it mean: 1. You can only use Pokémon, whose highest base stat is the same number, but doesn't have to be the same category. 2. You can only use Pokémon, whose highest base stat is the same category. (for example, Blissey and Wobbuffet both have their highest base stat in the HP category, but they're different numbers.) 3. You can only use Pokémon, whose highest base stat is the same number of the same category. |

The Wonderlocke Challenge in Pokémon Ultra Moonhttp://play.pokemonshowdown.com/sprites/xyani/darkrai.gifATTEMPT 4 - PART 1So, I started new game and got Rowlet as starter, Grubbin on Route 1 and Wingull in Hau'oli City. I traded them for level 11 Spearow, level 1 Honedge and level 7 Wingull. So that's pretty fine team. I leveled them all to level 11 and challenged Ilma. Right from the start, his Yungoos landed a crit Tackle on Spearow, killing it before he could even attack. That's a great start. So I sent in Honedge, even though I knew Yungoos had Pursuit. But I needed Wingull alive for Smeargle, since it knew Ember. Pursuit didn't inflict that much damage and I was able to set up one Sword Dance and then attack with Fury Cutter. That worked, Yunggos fainted and Ilma sent out Smeargle. Since I play with SET battle mode, I couldn't switch and decided to try my luck and beat Smeargle with boosted Honedge. Smeargle is faster and hit pretty hard with Ember. And Honedge is burned. There goes my hope in beating Smeargle with Fury Cutter. I switched in Wingull next turn and it's burned. And I thought only Battle Tree is unfair. Well, I still didn't lose, right? So I start by using Supersonic. And it missed. I then used another Supersonic and ti landed. Smeargle snapped out of confusion the very next turn. And since Smeargle hit pretty hard, I started using Growls and healing every 2 turns to survive. But even with 6 Growls, Smeargle still hit pretty hard and overpowered Wingull after I run out of healing. So I sent out Honedge, was able to hit Smeargle once before Ilma healed it back to full health, while Honedge died to burn damage. Well, this was disaster. I'm beginning to think that there are some weird powers interfering with this challenge. I'll officially step down from Challenge mod position if I die on Ilma in the next attempt. |

Also, for the Character Challenge, I chose Ash. He has had a Snorlax and you can catch Munchlax (and it's possible for it to SOS Call a Snorlax) on Route 1. Can I catch the pre-evolved form of a pokemon that Ash has/had? What about evolutions (i.e. if I chose Rowlet, would I be able to evolve it into Dartrix even though Ash never evolved his Rowlet)? |
Ultra Sun Character Challenge I choose to mimic Ash's Pokemon. I start out with the annoying tutorial that I've probably gone through 8 times due to trying to find a randomized version online. I pick Litten, due to being able to evolve it into Incineroar, and it has a Naive (+Spe/-SpD) nature. Nice, a fast Pokemon makes for a stronger Pokemon (except for Ninjask). I find out you can catch Rockruff south of Iki Town but it's blocked by a bunch of rocks. So, I decide to just go ahead into Iki Town and finish the dumb tutorial with Lily and Nebby. I wake up, get Poke Balls, fight some trainers, and go straight to the festival. I sweep Hau's Pichu and Rowlet with Ember and obtain the Z-Power Ring. I wake up for the 3rd time and go to Kukui's house, get the Rotom Dex, and head to Hau'Oli City. I beat the first trainer in the Trainers' School. I defeat all the Trainers, heal at the Pokemon Center and challenge the Teacher. Things went rough here. I didn't realize she had a Poppolio. I use Lick for some reason and 1 Water Gun leaves Litten with 7 health. I use a Potion on him, only getting him to 27/31 health. Another one hits me, leaving me at 3 health this time. I give up on the battle and have my first white out. I fight some trainers and train up. I encounter a Caterpie while looking for more trainers. I realize that Ash had a Caterpie in Season 1 of the anime. I catch a level 2 Caterpie and grind him up... a lot. I switch trained until Caterpie evolved into Metapod. At that point, I decided to try again. I put Metapod in front and got off 2 String Shots in order to do more damage. He faints and Litten comes out. Scratch does barely any damage and Water Gun still does 3 quarters of my health. I use 2 potions and rng got me down to 6 health. I used Ember and gave up. Another white out. I grind against Wingull for an hour until Litten is level 14 and learns Fire Fang. We finally have a move that does a decent amount of damage. Ember is gone and Fire Fang is in. One more battle and Metapod is now a Butterfree with Gust. I realized a dumb move on my part. Caterpie could've learned Bug Bite at level 9... but I wasn't going to prevent it from evolving for 2 whole levels for 1 move. I challenge the Teacher for the 3rd time... I start with Butterfree using String Shot. Turns out we're already faster than it. It lands a crit Water Gun but it only does two fifths of my health. I spam Gust for 3 turns, use a potion, and use gust 2 more times to finally win. I spam A until I get to the Tauros and save. To be continued... on the next post. Litten (M) Ability: Blaze Level: 14 Naive Nature - Scratch - Fire Fang - Leer - Lick Butterfree (F) Ability: Compound Eyes Level: 10 Adamant Nature - Tackle - String Shot - Harden - Gust |

Solo Run -> Pick-A-Route Trio-Species -> Space Nerds Challenge Hit the Gym -> Monotype Rainy Days -> Your (User)Name Challenge Monoletter -> The Trainer Class Challenge Signature Move -> Gift Challenge And yes, you can evolve those Pokémon to their final stage. And I think it's also okay to evolve Rockruff into different form, since the Dusk Form Lycanroc is event only Pokémon. Quote:

Also, for Gift Challenge, I'm unable to trade with anyone else, so I used a randomizer to ONLY make trade evolutions easier (mainly for Porygon, making it evolve when it levels up while holding the Up-Grade, then Dubious Disc). Is that okay or do I need to play it how it is? |
Quote:
Retrograde -> The Culinary Challenge Also using randomizer to make trade evolutions possible is completely okay in my book. |
Could I have my two character challenges (Johto and Kalos) rerolled?

I was looking at my challenges and realized that the In-Order Challenge makes no sense. The description doesn't give us any detail on what we are supposed to do or have in order. Is it when we catch our Pokemon? How our party is organized? I have no idea. |

As for In-Order Challenge, you have to pick 6 Pokémon or evolution lines, whose regional number in Pokédex goes right after each other (excluding any exclusive line from other version from this sequence). For example in B2W2 this team could look something like this: Leavanny, Sunflora, Stoutland, Ampharos, Golduck, Azumarill. It's up to you what Pokémon you choose as starting point. Is that clearer? Anyway, I have a short update on my Wonderlocke run: The Wonderlocke Challenge in Pokémon Ultra Moonhttp://play.pokemonshowdown.com/sprites/xyani/ralts.gifhttp://play.pokemonshowdown.com/sprites/xyani/butterfree.gifhttp://play.pokemonshowdown.com/sprites/xyani/magikarp.gifhttp://play.pokemonshowdown.com/sprites/xyani/abra.gifhttp://play.pokemonshowdown.com/sprites/xyani/vulpix.gifATTEMPT 4 - PART 1This time my starter was once again Rowlet, Route 1 encounter was Grubbin and Hau'oli City encounter was Meowth. I traded them for Dunsparce, Magikarp and Ralts. That's not that bad to be honest. Dunsparce is tanky enough to survive few attacks from Ilma. I hoped it would. But it had pretty bad moveset (Defense Curl, Rollout, Pursuit and Spite) and won't be learning anything useful soon. But at least it was on level 10, while Ralts and Magikarp were on level 1. After short training session to get Ralts and Magikarp on higher level, I challenged Ilma. I boost my defense with Defense Curl and Yungoos started off with critical Tackle. That's great. But Dunsparce tanked it pretty well and I used Rollout. And it missed. Thankfully next one hit the target and Dunsparce started rolling. Another hit was enough to beat Yungoos and Ilma's Smeargle didn't even came out of Poké Ball and was defeated. Finally! Continuing on, I picked Abra on Route 2, Caterpie in Hau'oli Cemetery and found out there is hidden area on the beach called Sandy Cave, where I got Vulpix. As you can see, this isn't really a good team to take on tanky Dark-type. Caterpie evolved quite quickly and Dunsparce got a little bit overleveled. To the point it learned Yawn. Battle with Totem Raticate went great. First Yawn landed, but then 2 Rollouts missed, so Totem Raticate had enough time to wake up. I was fast enough to heal up and put Raticate back to sleep. Rollouts started rolling and Raticate was down after 3 hits. Hooray! And Dunsparce fainted... Yes, you're reading it right. SOS Rattata was slowly chipping away Dunsparce's HP and since Dunsparce was locked in Rollout, Rattata killed it with Quick Attack. You won't be forgotten Dunsparce! That's all for now, I hope I won't see Ilma for a long time.
