1. I'll go head east.

Meadow April 23rd, 2018 8:45 PM

Let's keep fishing! You never know what kind of bizarre things our almighty rod might reel in. :D

#2

HyperMorian April 26th, 2018 12:04 AM

And so, a tie happened and it hasn't broken yet by a majority bias. Could've gone to use both choices into one, but seems like we'll be needing to choose between the two instead.

Lycanthropy April 26th, 2018 6:13 AM

How about we beat the Gym Leader in a fishing contest?

Alright, I give in and change my vote to #2.

HyperMorian April 26th, 2018 9:51 PM

Well, that's nice, I guess. We can move on now, though I almost had an idea for the fourth option. Oh well... moving on.

It's uncertain if you can really trust what it says to you, so...
  1. Ignore the voice and head east. - 1 Vote
  2. Keep fishing! They say a Mantine lives in this very pond! - 3 Votes
  3. Go back to where you found the orb.
  4. Win against the Gym Leader of this town. - 1 Vote

Chapter 18: Mantine

Location: Shanama Town
At one side you are encouraged to go somewhere, whether by self-volition or guided by an unknown somebody. At one point, you also want to challenge the Gym of this town and earn your first badge.

However, the rumors circulating about a Mantine living in this very pond tempts you to stay longer to fish out this aquatic Pokmon out of its hiding. With great perseverance, you keep on waiting to watch the line. Not long after, you feel something pulling out the line of your rod, which you fight off by holding the rod tight and imitate the same.

True to their words, you can see the twin navy antennae popping out from the water. Then, it hoists itself up high from the water, looking above you with its expressionless stare, then flies off without letting go of the hook. Because of this, you also find yourself being lifted up, grounds becoming smaller in view as you hang about on the Kite Pokmon.

Wheee- you're now flying under a Mantine! What do?
  1. Tell Mantine to get down!
  2. Let go of the fishing rod!
  3. Keep on hanging onto it! Maybe it will lead you to somewhere.
  4. Alternatively, eat your leftovers Casteliacone!

XNaut April 26th, 2018 10:08 PM

3. I would hang onto it to prevent myself from falling to the ground.

FeraligatrMaster April 26th, 2018 11:49 PM

3. Who knows where it'll lead us?

Damien.aspiring.fandev April 27th, 2018 1:56 AM

*brakes screeching*
SORRY, i'M LATE and... wut
... mantines can fly?
Maybe it's a peculiarity of this continuity?
1)Still, I'd gently ask them to lower the altitude...
They might get us elsewhere anyway, and if not we might find out about
the telepathic message we got a while ago...

Ooh, we can kick the bucket in mid-air? Tempting! However, I'm genuinely curious to know where we'll end up. This Mantine was brought to us by our fishing rod of destiny, so the place we're heading to might hold a lot of significance. :o

#3!

Chapter 19: Dangling About...

Location: Shanama Town -> Volmia City Ruins
You find yourself ascending even higher, up until where the clouds begin to enshroud the snowy surface of the upper world you traipsed upon. Not wishing to let go of the grip, you let yourself carried away by the Mantine. Everything looks so tiny from up here, and Mantine shows no sign of stopping either. Uncertainty fills you with anxiety, you're not sure where you're heading at as you just keep on getting more lost than before.

Eventually, Mantine slows down in speed and altitudes itself lower, toward another series of floating islands that must've elevated themselves by an unknown force. That's reassuring for being able to touch the ground again, after gathering too much sweat in both palms and feeling weak in spines, but where on earth are you now? Your first thought comes as Mantine lets the hook off its mouth before flying somewhere else, taking your steps forward to discern your new surroundings.

In front of you, is a blue-hued road of glass cracked like a fissure, decorated with paper wastes, leading to a selective set of dilapidated concrete structures with flickering neon lights. Most of them were quite mossy and serene, if not for the cheery chirping coming from a flock of Starly perching above the electrical poles. Onward, is a wide circular park with a statue depicting a Sandshrew in the middle of a dry fountain. Wiping off the dust, an unknown but familiar name reads out from the carved plaque just before it.

Looking around, it's not like you're not welcome to linger about, but this Pokmon-infested place seems unfitting for a night, nor there is a place of interest as you've never been here before. Still, the question remains, what should you do?
  1. Investigate this place. There might be clues of...something.
  2. Return to where you should be. This place is boring.
  3. Eat the Casteliacone and do acrobatic moves.

Damien.aspiring.fandev May 2nd, 2018 12:48 AM

1. Well, it's the only reasonable choice... it's not like we can get down this floating island
anyway, right?

Lycanthropy May 2nd, 2018 2:27 AM

I vote #4: Kneel in front of the statue and worship Sandshrew.

...no? Alright, #1 then.

FeraligatrMaster May 2nd, 2018 4:55 AM

1. Maybe there's something interesting in these ruins.

XNaut May 2nd, 2018 10:57 AM

1. Investigate this place of course.

Hyzenthlay May 3rd, 2018 12:34 AM

1. I hope we don't bump into a weird cult of Sandshrew worshippers! Or do I...?

Janp May 3rd, 2018 8:45 AM

1. I would like to see that something.

strangerhypno May 4th, 2018 10:17 PM

choice uno. Might as well explore since we flew all the way up there.

But seriously I would go for choice #5 and catch the Mantine.

HyperMorian May 5th, 2018 8:46 PM

And thus, a majority has reached even though there's still time. But it's mostly because I have the time to do it, so...
This calls for another proceeding.

Still, the question remains, what should you do?

Chapter 20: Pokmon Nest

Location: Volmia City Ruins
There might be something around here, you thought, deciding to indulge your curiosity around these ruins. There isn't much to stand on the spot you are currently at, therefore you move to the west, heading to a district that seems to be packed with... things that are just bizarre.

Large, oddly spherical vehicles scattered across the glass road, hovering still. Tree roots jutting outward from the windows, extending to the grassy sidewalks. A heap of stacked junks stood tall in the center of the crossroad. As far as the eye can see, there are no other human other than wild Pokmon roam free in the ruins without worry, and many Parasect picking up man-made litters as if they're cleaning the place.

When you approach the area, they don't seem to be alerted by your appearance. Rather, they even wave you a sincere gesture of greeting which you respond by spontaneously mirroring the act. You have no idea what they are saying, nor do you think there might be a way to interact with them, though it's apparent that they aren't as bad as you thought. Feeling relieved, you try to inspect one of the several places of this deserted city.

What should you do?
  1. Visit the Department Store for freebies! It's not stealing if they leave it there, right?
  2. Inspect one of the tall buildings. There might be something in there.
  3. Take a ride through the Caterpie Terminal. It would be a quick way to move from places to places.
  4. Search the heap of junk and trash. There might be something in there.
  5. Try to catch one of the Parasect. Maybe they won't notice, or perhaps would be glad to.

XNaut May 5th, 2018 9:19 PM

2. Inspect a tall building.

Hyzenthlay May 6th, 2018 12:16 AM

This is a really tough choice! I'm curious about all these places.

But I can't pass up the chance for a new teammate! 5. Go, Pok Ball!

FeraligatrMaster May 6th, 2018 12:24 AM

5. Maybe one of them will surprise us, and be a good battler.

Damien.aspiring.fandev May 6th, 2018 8:12 AM

1) We need food(aside the cone)...
and water... and soap... and somewhere to sleep...(maybe there's furniture or camping gear there?)
and a few extra medical supplies would also do just in case anything onix-pected were to happen...

So many interesting places to explore, so little time. Let's raid the store first, shall we? #1

Meadow May 7th, 2018 4:51 AM

Oops, I missed a chapter noooooo... D:

Anyway, I think the store should be worth checking out, considering there's probably no one else around to take care of it. As long as a Kecleon isn't guarding that shop, we should be fine! #1

Still though, that Sandshrew statue is single-handedly the most suspicious thing here. If anything, we need to be inspecting that!

Janp May 7th, 2018 12:02 PM

This is hard... 1 or 5? But my inner thief is speaking right now, so 1.

HyperMorian May 9th, 2018 9:38 AM

And so it happens.

It appears that more people has chosen to take whatever things they find lying in the showcases. Quite a radical change throughout 20 chapters of sheer strangeness, huh?

...

And make sure to always love Sandshrew. Sandshrew is the most adorable Ground-Type Pokémon we were gifted ever since the franchise has come to fruition.

Let's be honest, look at its eyes! You can't be serious that is the suspicious look they would give if they have ever done anything immoral. They are most innocent, cute, little Pokémon that wander from many dry places. They are also strong on their own, it is even theorized that they descend from a super-ancient Pokémon known as Groudon. This itself, makes them a staple, a popular choice for campers because they know what they are doing. Sandshrew is the best Pokémon, and will always be.

Never ever refuse its plea of help whenever you come across one. Always love Sandshrew, forever and ever.

Chapter 21: Stealing is Bad

Location: Volmia City Ruins -> Volmia Department Store - 1F
Having not found a way to return yet, there's no point in staying in one place listening to the creaking pile of garbage. If any, you'd be following a path that piques your interest while you're at it.

And, as it appears to be several blocks away to the west of the crossroad, your eyes are met with a large, entrance-open building that is unexpectedly crowded with customers. Not actual humans, but Pokémon pushing stuffed trolleys toward the counter, just like humans.

A Graveler, on the side of the counter, does exactly what a clerk would do. In front of it, is a Chansey who hands out rocks as payment, bringing along groceries and walks past you.

While you do learn a thing or a two, it also leaves you a bit perplexed; what value do they see in such impractical currency? Though their methods may be questionable, it might be best to follow the terms to fit in the totally different society.

What are you going to do?
  1. Causing a scene would really suck, so let's turn back and head somewhere else.
  2. Why come empty-handed when you could gather some rocks to buy something?
  3. Ask Chansey about what on earth is this place. Maybe she does speak English.
  4. Try to follow and catch Chansey when no one is looking.

strangerhypno May 9th, 2018 10:36 AM

4. Having a pokemon with freebie healing moves will be useful. So let's go catch a Chansey.

XNaut May 9th, 2018 10:51 AM

3. I love Chansey and I would befriend it first and hopefully the Chansey will join me on my journey and decides it wants to have me as its trainer.

FeraligatrMaster May 9th, 2018 11:00 AM

3. We could always try...

Meadow May 9th, 2018 8:25 PM

Yeah, what exactly is this place anyway? xD It would be pretty interesting if this Chansey could speak English, so let's go with #3 and find out!

Deaths: 1
Chapter 22: Revelation

Location: Volmia Department Store - 1F → Volmia City Ruins
An explanation, however tiny it is, is more helpful than knowing nothing of one's surroundings. Granted, there were a lot of unanswered questions inhibiting the conclusion of the otherworldly atmosphere. From the way they react to each other━yourself included, everything felt amiably mutual and dissonant. Thus, you decide to interact with one of them, thinking if the Pokémon could understand your speech.

"Hello, may I ask you something?"
"Yes?" The Chansey turns back to reply calmly, "What is it that you want to know?"

To your surprise, the Chansey seems to understand what you're saying, and is bilingual to boot! You start from the topmost list of your queries, down to the last to fill in your curiosity with newfound knowledge of this region.

"The way you look, I can see that you're a foreign." Chansey continued to speak, "Don't be alarmed, we treat everyone as kindred equals, so there's no discrimination between us. It makes me happy to see strangers to visit us, after all!"

Spoiler: What is this place?
"This city used to be a bustling metropolitan for both kin. Technology vying vast and rampant, structures were remodeled to allow easier life. It was almost an utopia-like, everyone was living happily without worry ever haunting their lives, until a disaster struck the heart of the mountain and ultimately, the region itself. Now it's just a niche civilization like us, reminiscing our days with the denizens, living the usual while rebuilding what was left bit by bit."

Spoiler: What happened?
"As you can obviously see from the ruins ahead us, fissures and cracks are very abundant in the eye. That's the proof of this city's downfall, the very fissure that cleaved the entire Raoga in two. The cause to it, we never truly knew. All we could learn that a bright light shone upon the topmost of Mt. Rokk, and destruction followed after we laid our eye to such bizarre occurrence. It was horrible to see our home to live in such sorry state, but fortunately not everyone was hurt thanks to their cooperation in helping each other.

Where are they now? They moved long ago knowing that they couldn't live here anymore because it's very ill-suited. But even then, I'm sure that they've found a better place to settle in this world, which I don't know where it was."

Spoiler: What about the floating islands?
"This city is now a floating island? What are you on about? Haha, I'm not sure if I follow your joke here, or are you really telling me the truth that we're up here in the skies? The world itself is full of mystery, so I don't think I have the answer for that one."

Spoiler: Is there a way to exit the city?
"There were only a few options to choose from. We're currently in the Eastern District, so I'd recommend taking the Caterpie Terminal to go south since the other path caved in. Alternatively, you can choose to travel through the deserted buildings to reach north, or get through the blocking debris provided your Pokémon knows how to make it easier for you to get across."

Spoiler: It might be weird, but how can you speak like a human?
"My Trainer taught me everything she knows. I'm happy to have a kindhearted Trainer like her."

After asking Chansey several questions, you decide to trade goodbyes as the two of you part ways. Though not everything is clear, you still find yourself capable to get back on the track, after figuring out how things will work that is.

Now, what?
  1. Head to the Caterpie Terminal and take the southern route.
  2. Travel through a series of tall buildings to reach the northern route.
  3. Use Cuddles to Bounce through the debris and take the western route.
  4. Call Chansey out. She might be lying about several things.

Lycanthropy May 17th, 2018 1:17 AM

Wow, it can talk. Can we learn Cuddles how to talk too? :D

Oh, and #3 of course.

Hyzenthlay May 17th, 2018 6:36 AM

I'm really curious about the Caterpie Terminal, so I'll go with #1 this time!

Meadow May 17th, 2018 7:44 PM

Something's kinda weird about the disaster that ravaged this place... Judging from the fissures, it almost seems as if a certain Ground-type troublemaker might have caused it. D:

Anyway, those tall buildings are intriguing! Let's go with #2.

Knowing that the days of tests is now over, at least in here, there's nothing that's going to bar me from doing anything, or when my time is soon ridden with responsibilities in the near future. The idea is still there, and I still want to continue. Up until somebody wants to take over for me, should I think I can no longer do it or deem myself unfit. Often times, the amount of votes has its ups and downs. Sometimes there's a lot, sometimes it's just the same select few that still shows interest. Can really admit that I'm sort of worried if "it" might happen again, which I'm trying my best to prevent, sparing some time for it and not to think it as a compulsive chore.

Well, while encouraged, this is by no means I'm enforcing people to do what I want them to do. After all, they're free to enjoy doing anything they want. It's just me speaking my mind from what I can currently see, so please don't really think too deeply of it. It might break the mood, for some that I know, but I'm sure I can't get around to cover the truth. Best thing I can do is to accept and bear with it, because I won't be going anywhere anytime soon.

Now that I've had enough rambling, time to proceed once more. Dear Arceus, I might need to do an overhaul soon.

Now, what?

Chapter 23: A Dark Downstairs

Location: Volmia City Ruins → Caterpie Terminal
Following the directions given by the talking Chansey, you decide that the easiest shortcut is just to take a free ride to the east. You return a few blocks from where you are and arrive at a big Caterpie monument. The way it stands, you feel a sense of familiarity with another statue you may have seen before. There wasn't any inscription found on the structure, but the image is clear to you; this is unmistakably the Caterpie Terminal itself.

You can only hear the resounding steps of your own, strolling the empty lobby with lights staying unfazed across the ceilings. It's apparent that no one is around, or at least that's what you thought when you hear a faint chuckle somewhere. In attempt of discerning the source, you turn right to see a one-way staircase that descends deeper to the underground level, completely pitch-black that it's nigh impossible to see through the veil of darkness just with naked eyes.

"This path is off-limits, enter at your own peril." it reads on the authoritative sign panel placed on the thick partition of the stairs. That seems weird coming from a public service facility, if they know it's dangerous, why the path wasn't sealed? This might or might not be the path you're looking for to proceed, though maybe it's only your instinctive sense, you can feel the danger lingering inside. Yet the curiosity goes in you; what this place is trying to hide from you?

The Casteliacone is bright enough for you to see, however. Where to go?
  1. Turn your back and keep going to find the train you're looking for. Let's not stray too far into the unknown and find the exit quickly.
  2. Fearlessly brace yourself for what is hidden inside the end of the staircase. You have Cuddles to cover for you, after all.
  3. Stick to the path you came from and proceed to follow the light. Screw this darkness.

Well, it's dark for a reason. We don't really have Flash to do it the traditional way, so it's all about trying to see what works and what doesn't in practicality. :heh:

I guess it's because forcing the character to eat the ice cream "for the lulz" might be a tad niche choice for a game over. The idea itself wasn't really planned in the first place too, so I'm also glad that somehow somebody noticed it.

Anyway, it's time, once again.

Chapter 24: Inside the Terminal

Location: Caterpie Terminal → Unknown Depths
Nothing seems to be more scarier than becoming paranoid of something you might be missing out. Therefore, you send out your Wailmer, Cuddles, to stay on guard as you try opening the bag to reach for the Casteliacone. It's weird to think that this glowing ice cream could actually function some utility, but pushing the thought aside, you watch yourself from tripping by descending the stairs, one tap of a step at a time.

Not long after, you find yourself standing on a flat surface, wide enough to signal Cuddles to slide through the stairs. It wasn't really a smooth one to bump continuously, but such thing doesn't really affect Cuddles from backing down his curiosity now. Turning your back, in front of you is an open entrance where the air could be felt inside. To find out, you take the lead to enter the new area within.

Upon making your way inside, you hoist the Casteliacone to lit up your surroundings. The walls look rough and dense. Moss-covered support columns broadens the site. Metallic rails similar to a train railway stands still on the tiled flooring. It appears to be another part of the terminal that is evidently old in age, but knowingly prohibited by those who operate the place. It's what you are about to find out, after all, so turning back won't be a choice here.

The path ahead is the same, until its complex nature starts to fork into three different directions; to the left, to the right, and center. Cuddles wriggles onward and faces to the left, thinking that you should be taking that path. Yet, the similar chuckling echoes from the right, reverberating to a gradual stop. It might be more appropriate to track down the source of the voice, but what of the other two?

Ultimately, you are to decide where to go. Which path do you choose?
  1. Follow Cuddles' lead to the left.
  2. I don't think so, Cuddles. The right path had to be the right one.
  3. Let's ignore the two paths and keep walking to the center.

FeraligatrMaster June 3rd, 2018 10:25 AM

1. I think we should follow Wailmer.

Hyzenthlay June 3rd, 2018 10:46 AM

Oh man, I have a feeling that Cuddles can sense something off about this place. These choices are pretty eerie!

I'm so curious about that voice, though... I choose #2! After all, as long as Cuddles is by our side, we have nothing to fear! ...Right?

Janp June 3rd, 2018 10:59 AM

3. Let's ignore the other two paths.

If yes, then Send out "Houndoom" and see where he goes..

Lycanthropy June 5th, 2018 6:12 AM

2. Not sure if it's actually the right one, but I'm curious to find out more about that ominous voice.

Usually, it's encouraged to choose one of the available options. But yes, suggestions are always welcome for inclusions to what are there, as long as it's related to what is picked.

The idea of being a weird Bug Catcher that feeds his Pokémon some 'special herb'. Kind of wondering how Scrambles is doing right now, since he's quite the staple of a novelty starter from the first iteration, and at least not drugged as I can see, I think.

I feel flattered, but thank you. :]

Well, a Pokémon are to protect their Trainer at all cost, no matter how poor they serve theirs in many ways possible. It's a mutual thing, really.

...Or maybe there is a reason that even I don't know what it is. Hmm, whatever floats in our mind, eh?

For some reason, we actually have a tie between the two most selected options. As it appears, the wait has gone long enough, where I'm going to push it with what I had in mind.

Chapter 25: "Which is it?!"

Location:Unknown Depths
The three sections stood still gaping, waiting for one's passage through each one. The Wailmer, Cuddles, leans to the left path. The mysterious noise comes from the right. The center, is just as dark and much more wider than the former two. Whichever path leads you to where your curiosity goes depends on what you choose, but somehow, you can't decide which.

It has been minutes ever since you lock your eyes at it, only to be interrupted with a sudden flinch of your own by the sound of something tumbling. Responsively, Cuddles quickly takes a stance toward where the voice, this time coming to the center path you don't really consider that much. This can't be good, right? You think carefully whether you should find out what was just ahead of you.

"...Hello again. What are you doing in this place?" Conceivably, the soft voice also originate from the center. It gives a sense of relief that its speech doesn't ring off anything threatening, more of a question that is natural to be asked by those who dwell inside their 'home'. But the feeling dissipates as soon as it comes closer, its pinkish body lightened by your Casteliacone's purple light, the same chipper expression from where you saw it just minutes ago. Something is off.

"This place is dangerous. You should turn back, now." It was Chansey from the grounds just above. Her voice isn't changing, but the warning clearly comes from her mouth. "Staying here won't do good to any of us. You will lose your way, and it will be very bad. Don't even think about getting past where I stand too. I'm trying to protect you. So, be obedient, and find the train. Please, I beg of you."

...
  1. Turn back.
  2. Stay.

Chapter 26: Vs. Chansey

Location: Unknown Depths
For a while, you were thinking why Chansey is being so defensive. It seems unnatural to see her contrasting side to take place in where she tries to stop you from going further to the unknown. Granted, none of your Pokémon and you have the slightest idea of what she could mean by danger lurking in its end. She could very well mean that it might be true, and it might be better to head back to safety now than be sorry later.

...However, you didn't lean backward. Neither did Cuddles, nor the glowing Casteliacone you are holding into. While her debatable warning may sound sincere, her presence in this place is just as weird. "Why is she here?" The question is thrown out almost immediately at Chansey, who doesn't seem to flinch at your refusal of paying heed to her words. Instead, she simply raises a stance that knowingly warrants one thing to settle it all — a contest of might. Typical.

"If there isn't a way to convince you...then let's see how determined you are by getting past me." She continued, "Prove it to me, here and now, that your decision isn't a display of baseless ignorance."

That wasn't really intended, but it appears that failure isn't an option either. What should you do?
  1. Accept her challenge by sending Cuddles to deal with her.
  2. Accept her challenge by sending Hairy Arachnid Nanoscopic to deal with her.
  3. Gang on her by sending both Pokémon. Quantity is everything!
  4. Attempt to throw a Poké Ball in hopes to catch her. She's a wild Pokémon, right?
  5. Be a wimp pacifist by refusing to fight.

Chapter 27: Terrified

Location: Unknown Depths
No matter how grave or petty the circumstances might sound, the easiest way to settle matters is through the outcome of a fight. Taking the first turn, Chansey raises the egg on her resting pouch, then hurls it at your direction. Responsively, Cuddles jumps in on its tracks and shoots out yellowish lasers through its glowing eyes of doom toward the incoming projectile, causing an explosion that slightly pushes you and both combatants. This Chansey is surely not to be underestimated, but of course...

You remember having another Pokémon within your roster, and you have yet to use him for anything worthy of destruction, or lesser than the currently occurring combat. This would've been the perfect the chance to see how well will he fare, because Cuddles alone might find it troublesome given how narrow the corridor is. No hesitation, you flick the second Poké Ball aloft as it opens to reveal the Pokémon within — Hairy Arachnid Nanoscopic, the Houndoom, reluctantly joining in the fray by nimbly landing on his forelegs first.

"What is the meaning of this? And I thou-" Her speech is cut short as you notice a gasping voice that isn't yours, nor hers. It came from Hairy Arachnid Nanoscopic, latching closely on the wall, fear filling his raised black furs at the newfound sight it sees. You, Cuddles, and Chansey, aren't too sure of what possessed Hairy Arachnid Nanoscopic to be this timid, especially when he was the ferocious leader of a pack plotting to attack you and Cuddles, only to be foiled by a simple Bounce of luck. ...Oh wait, if that's the case, then Cuddles is responsible for taking away his grasp of reality. Nice job, Cuddles!

"Good lord, what did you do to this poor Pokémon?" An expression of worry grows on her, contrasting her intention on stopping you. She apparently cares her foe more than herself, somehow. "You look really pale to me. Are you feeling alright? Here, touch this egg. It'll make you feel much better."

Is it necessary to interrupt?
  1. "Of course! We're in the middle of a battle! Pull yourself together and let's defeat her!"
  2. "On second thought, that isn't so bad. Maybe this can all be dealt without anyone getting hurt."
  3. "Let's take this opportunity to throw a Poké Ball at that Chansey."

Oh right, Pokémon also have emotions, we're such a terrible trainer oops.

Or... he's just pretending to be scared to distract Chansey so that we can easily catch her. Good job, H.A.N., I knew we could count on you! :D #3 it is!

Deep in the forest .... June 23rd, 2018 3:14 AM

Of course #3-the best choice!

Hyzenthlay June 23rd, 2018 3:21 AM

I'm not buying it! Behind that adorable exterior lies a heart of pure evil (remember a certain Mouse Pokémon?) ;b She's plotting something... W-wait, what if that's an Egg Bomb? D:

#3 We might not get another Chansey. ;)

Meadow June 23rd, 2018 6:50 PM

Interesting! You know what? We could totally make it our goal to capture every potential antagonist on this journey and brainwash them into becoming our minions. :D

#3!

Whoops, I sure shouldn't have forgotten about making an update on this. What's more, the recent issue with imgur no longer supporting image hotlinks in forums comes to my attention. As it affects the images in the site and threads that are using them -- including this one, I might be needing to reupload them through a site that shouldn't show broken images in return. ...But yeah, as I couldn't do so right now, I decided I'll be doing that at a later time.

In all honesty, I wasn't feeling well the moment I'm continuing what I like to do. Something along the lines of staying up late for two consecutive weeks put a strain that lasted long, but not long enough to put me out of the fence. Having both body and mind healthy is indeed a bliss, so to speak, it's important to not overwork ourselves and take a rest if things are going hectic. ...Unless you've somehow forgotten to do something important, then you shouldn't waste your time and do it now.

Enough bantering, here's the usual. Do mind that you can suggest nicknames now!

Is it necessary to interrupt?
  1. "Of course! We're in the middle of a battle! Pull yourself together and let's defeat her!"
  2. "On second thought, that isn't so bad. Maybe this can all be dealt without anyone getting hurt." - 1 Vote (The goodie goodie strikes again, but lacking power...)
  3. "Let's take this opportunity to throw a Poké Ball at that Chansey." - 7 Votes

Deaths: 1
Chapter 28: Chansey the Third

Location: Still Unknown Depths
There have been weirder things, and this is just about the average dose of weirdness taking the form of an adventure to the unknown. Your path is barred by a talking Pokémon known as Chansey. You, along with Cuddles and Hairy Arachnid Nanoscopic, stand on the opposing side trying to defeat her. Things however took a rather complicated turn, prolonging the length of a conflict between 'probably' misunderstood factions.

In spite of her prejudice toward you and Cuddles, the Chansey appears more tender to your frightened Houndoom, tending him with an egg she offered. Though, Hairy Arachnid Nanoscopic doesn't look comfortable with what's going on, even with her trying to console him, he only resisted in taking it. Watching them now is a waste of time, and if trying to break their moment with violence isn't an option...

...Of course! Why wouldn't anyone? You delve in your hand inside the bag, producing a Poké Ball after it resurfaces. With less input to your spontaneous gesture, you quickly throw the Poké Ball right at the Chansey.

"Whoa-" However, Chansey anticipated the incoming machine and swiftly avoided it. "Ha! You miss- ouch!" But the rough surfaces made the Poké Ball to ricochet back right onto her back, hard. She flinches, and the next thing that happens, is that she is misshapen into a white glow, pulling her into the aloft machine with an evident angry groan. The voice is put to a mute as soon as it closes itself, falls stiffly onto the floor, shakes violently, and as you withdraw Hairy Arachnid Nanoscopic back to his own, the Poké Ball eventually stops followed with a sudden click.

Congratulations, you just caught a new Pokémon that's just as weird as your first! How very convenient! But even with her out of the way, you're kind of back to square one -- the branching paths in front of you. The middle path, where the Chansey seems to be coming from might lead you back to the surface somehow. That leaves with both right and left paths that are the ones you have yet to discover. Moreover, the mysterious voice is still within the air. Chansey might know something about 'it', though unlikely, there are circumstances where she could try rebelling over her new Trainer if given the chance now.

Sounds like you're back to what you're supposed to do -- making a choice. Now, what should you do?
  1. To the path on the left. Besides, Cuddles had a good feeling that there might be something in there.
  2. To the path on the right. Could it be the right way?
  3. To the path on the middle where Chansey comes from. It should lead you to the surface.

FeraligatrMaster July 5th, 2018 10:32 AM

3. If the Chansey came from that direction...

XNaut July 5th, 2018 11:14 AM

3. Let's try this path and see.

This is my new favorite sentence of the story. :D

I'm still curious to see what's on the left track. Our first weird Pokémon's feeling shouldn't be ignored. #1.

Janp July 7th, 2018 2:12 AM

3. There might be more Pokémon.

Also, Cuddles disappeared...

Damien.aspiring.fandev July 9th, 2018 12:08 PM

1) Nah-ah-ah! Not yet! Don't you fellows feel the need to explore more in-depth the place?
There could be items AND/OR experience! (also, moving on too quickly in EoT/D/S would probably have been a good way to get owned...)
Nicknames... you mean the former trainer didn't dignify her of one?
Okay, research time, let us hope in a proper name -.-
*miniremo noises* 💻
Spoiler:
Althea- From Αλθαια(Althaia), possibly related to althos(healing)
Altha- Will you ever guess?
Consuelo/Consuela- Consolation
Chela- Same ^^^^^^^^^^^
Eir- Associated with healing, mercy and help
Eirny- New healing
Emma- From ermen(universal, whole), in one language it also meant "healer of the universe"
Galena- Healer or calm
Adena/Adinam- Tender
Adene- Tender, again, but possibly also related to adal(noble)
Damiana- Feminine form of Damian(what's that smirk? Keep reading, forsaken felon emerit!), which comes from Δαμιανος (Damianos), in turn deriving from δαμαζω (damazo),"to tame". This name belonged to one of two sibling medics whom lived long ago.
Letitia/Letizia- From the name Laetitia aka "joy, happiness"(see what I did here?)
Sharmila- Protection, comfortation, joy
Panacea- A cure for all diseases
Reselda- Healer
Reseda- Healing, is also the name of a town
Cannenta- Healer, again
... see anything that appeals you? Either phonetically or in terms of meaningfulness?
Also, I just noticed they're 20...

3. seems like a wise choice that will get us out of here

Meadow July 11th, 2018 8:25 PM

Whoa, I can't believe we've almost hit 30 chapters already! Great work as always, Morian! Thanks for putting so much energy into this game! :D

Anyway, I think #1 is worth checking out! After all, we still have no idea why Cuddles was drawn towards that direction in the first place. As for Chansey's nickname... I guess I'll throw in "Deus Ex Machina" as a suggestion! Maybe that might just save our skin sometime in the future. ;)

HyperMorian July 13th, 2018 2:58 AM

...And here I was waiting for some name suggestions, and I only got a 'few'. (Please do mind that I only take one per user, so suggesting multiple nicknames at the same time will only make my job harder... Though these do look good for 'something else', hehe.) This is soon becoming a tradition that not everyone noticed that they could try giving a nickname after a Pokmon is potentially caught. :sadpepe:

Things have picked up, however, as I'm ready to do another a bit earlier than recently. And to see that we've almost hit 30 chapters in this forum game, I guess I can say I failed to notice how I can be so invested in doing this even if laziness does get in the way. So...what do I say when it reaches a certain milestone?

Thank you for playing.

Deaths: 1
Ch. 29: Back to the Terminal

Location: Unknown Depths ? Caterpie Terminal
The time spent to make a move is now over with a conclusion; that you will pick the path in the middle, as it should lead you to a place brighter than the darkness within this closely labyrinthine infrastructure. You take hold of the glowing Casteliacone once more and starts moving for the path you choose.

But a familiar grunt comes to put a stop on your tracks. You turn back to see Cuddles, facing toward the west leading to pitch-black emptiness. You ask Cuddles what's wrong, and he returns your question with an inquisitive stare. Have you forgotten? There's definitely something in there! That's the best interpretation you can make, but you could only wonder why he insists you so hard to go there. Still, it won't really hurt to go ahead and see it for yourself, but at the same time...

...Nah. While it's true there might be something hidden deep in the two other ways, you tell Cuddles that you're not doubting his judgment, but it isn't wise to simply wander inside a place known by a select few. Besides, the mention of how this place being 'dangerous' could be a sign that Chansey wasn't lying. Thus, this choice of action is to avoid unwanted situations that you and Cuddles might regret.

Hearing that, Cuddles doesn't feel disappointment. Instead, he nods affirmatively to your decision and slowly makes his way to follow without defiance. You sigh in relief, that there's nothing to be worried about than getting out of here firsthand. You feel like you won't be going back after this point, though it's quite nagging to leave the two paths unchecked for whatever resides in there, it's still better than walking in circles around a floating city with a clueless mind.

As you walk closer to where you hear a thud from the Egg Pokmon, you raise the Casteliacone to bask the area lit with light. The path would've been a dead end were it not for the metallic ladder sticking from the hole above, a little mossy for anyone's taste but evidently sturdy. Taking the lead by climbing on it, you ascend higher to set sight upon the first thing you see -- a double gate that leads to a dark hallway, and a stairway that gives the flooring a bright tint of orange as much the sun could reach it as it sets. You turn back to the hole to fetch Cuddles and the held Casteliacone into a Pok Ball, safely put on your belt.

The road splits again. Which do you want to go through?
  1. The stairway. It should be fine to take shelter inside one of the deserted buildings, right?
  2. The double gate. Despite appearing to be locked, the lock isn't proper and thus can be opened.
  3. The hallway to the back of the hole. Following this path might redirect you back to the front entrance, though.
  4. Be indecisive and return back to the unknown depths in order to inspect the other remaining ways.

FeraligatrMaster July 13th, 2018 4:20 AM

2. I'm curious about what lies beyond there.

Lycanthropy July 13th, 2018 5:53 AM

Oh right, names... that thing I read and that instantly forgot about. So what do you think of Omelette? :D

Also, #2 seems interesting.

XNaut July 13th, 2018 8:49 AM

2. I'll enter through the double gate.

Janp July 15th, 2018 8:36 AM

Let's call Chansey something that will bring us luck... Like Steven!

Anyway 2. I want to destroy the property as much as possible.
