Sapphire Team

Hi, could you guys please rate my sapphire team?

Salamence
-Earthquake
-Flamethrower
-Dragon Claw
-Fly

Metagross
-Earthquake
-Reflect
-Sludge Bomb
-Meteor Mash

Gengar
-Sludge Bomb
-Shadow Ball
-Thunderbolt
-Destiny Bond

Slaking
-Rest

-Ice Beam
-Calm Mind
-Surf

So what do you think of my team so far. I can't think of another move for Charizard. Maybe you guys can help me out?

Also, I have all the TMs just incase you were wondering.

Transducer June 5th, 2005 3:31 PM

Whoa what a team you have =O All powerhouses XP Yeah this is a preety nice team. Good job on assembling it :) The movesets are cool too but for Kyogre, why not have Surf instead of Water Spout? And for Charizard... Strength maybe?

MetalMario June 5th, 2005 8:19 PM

Char'll want a support move, like Swords Dance or Dragon Dance. Hyper Beam shouldn't be used on Metagross, since it gives the enemy a free turn. Kyogre'd do better with Surf if it's supposed to last for any length of time. Calm Mind over Double Edge makes Kyogre lethal.

Overall, lots of sweepers, but could use some support. Skarmbliss+Spikes would put a hole in this team. 8/10. It's nice to see non-n00bish IG teams for a change.

Gyardosamped June 5th, 2005 8:40 PM

Your teams awsome

I love you team and maybe you can teach you charizard fire blast and not flame thrower becuase fire blacst does better that flame thrower! But other wise man your teams really preety good! XD:)

pokenightmare June 6th, 2005 4:37 AM

OKay, I changed some of the moves on Charizard, Metagross, and Kyogre. What do you think of it now?

mew_master June 6th, 2005 7:42 AM

looks good. for charizard do flamethrower, aerial ace, earthquake, and depending on which attack stat is higher, dragon claw or strength. since you don't have swords/dragon dance, and charizard's spatk is already higher than attack, you might want to to do dragon claw. awesome IG team!

Espy Psyche June 6th, 2005 11:18 AM

Salamence: Very effective.

Metagross: Drop Reflect. It has high enough DEF already. Try Psychic (STAB)

Gengar: Seems you want a mixed sweeper. I would usually go with a p-annoyer, but whatever. For a mixed sweeper drop destiny bond. Try toxic?

Slaking:Drop Rest. If possible go with skill swap. Slaking+Skill Swap=almost unbeatable. If not...Facade maybe??

Charizard: Drop Sunny Day. If you have decent ATK go with Hyper Beam. If not try D Claw.

Kyogre: I have one that is very similar...See my rate my team to see it, stats and all. I chose Rest over Calm Mind. Kyogre's Spec stats are high enough to be lethal without it. They also help Rest be effective.

pokenightmare June 6th, 2005 3:09 PM

Rest is needed on Slaking incase it gets Burned, Posioned, etc. I can delete Shadow Ball for Skill Swap though.

Metagross's Sp. Attack is low. It's in the 100s even though my Metagross is at LV. 100.

other than what I said to change, you need a physical wall, special sponge, and items on all your pokemon

One question...how can Slaking learn Skill Swap?

Golden Groudon June 7th, 2005 1:45 PM

How? umm..maybe it can't?

(It would be cool if it did)

Alter Ego June 10th, 2005 6:12 AM

Looks like decent (If somewhat powerhouseish (is that even a word?)) team, I'd give Metagross Shadow Ball (beats down some annoying opponents like Slowbro/Slowking) or Brick Break (Against flying or levitating rock or steel types (like Lunatone, Solrock, and Skarmory) instead of Sludge Bomb which is worthless against steel and not very effective against Ground, Rock, Poison, and Ghost types (too many weakness in my opinion) and replace Reflect with Agility to cover for Metagross' lack of speed. I'd also prefer Flamethrower over Fire Blast for Charizard since it has higher PP and better accuracy but to each their own. This team should do well I think.

Kijin June 10th, 2005 7:39 AM

If you listen to anyone's advice in this topic, go w/ husk's. The only amendment to his version of your team is opting for Psychic over Fire Punch on Gengar.

pokenightmare June 11th, 2005 4:15 PM

I've changed my team a lot.

Gengar
Giga Drain
Psychic
Thunderbolt
Destiny Bond

Slaking
Return
Earthquake
Shadow Ball
Rest

Manectric
Thunder Wave
Roar
Crunch
Thunderbolt

Torkoal
Iron Defense
Amnesia
Rest
Flamethrower

Weezing
Haze
Sludge Bomb
Will-o-wisp
Destiny Bond

Milotic
Surf
Ice Beam
Mirror Coat
Recover

I was wondering if I should switch Milotic with Breloom. Anyways, how do you like my team now?

pretty good from my views, just changed a few things, and 3 1/2 tanks is great, you can withstand pretty of attacks and last longer than you opponent

pokenightmare June 12th, 2005 2:48 PM

Thanks Endamaster for replying. I want my Gengar to be a special sweeper and my Gengar's attack stats aren't too high. What should I do?

Kijin June 13th, 2005 12:06 PM

Enda, putting Shadow Balls on the 65 atk Gengar is svg. tech.

I'd replace Giga Drain on Gengar w/ Ice Punch. You have a mock bolt-beam on Gengar this way w/ Psychic... meaning the only poke in the game that resists you is Magneton (who has a lower special defense). Slaking needs Brick Break or Focus Punch because rest is... no. I really dislike Torkoal because it's a fire type w/o Levitate or a Flying typing attached to it, meaning EQ from anyone curbs you.

On second inspection, Blissey owns you. Slaking needs Focus Punch.

pokenightmare June 13th, 2005 7:06 PM

Okay, I'll give Slaking Focus Punch. Should I switch Milotic with Breloom?

brotlov June 14th, 2005 5:08 PM

Which pokemon did you start with?
And where did you get Feebas?

Ice demon June 14th, 2005 6:10 PM

go gengar w/ ice punch, thunderbolt, psychic and destiny bond @ salac.
only magnaton resists all...

Torkoal[+Def,-Sp]@leftovers
EVs - hp,Def,SpDef,Att
overheat/amnesia/yawn
body slam
curse
rest

keep milotic.

pokenightmare June 15th, 2005 3:53 AM

Brotlov, I started out with Torchic and I cheated to get Feebas-_-

I can't trade to get Ice Punch on Gengar but my Gengar does know Sacred Fire (I cheated again). Is that a good move for Gengar?

Dee Trier June 15th, 2005 4:19 AM

I think milotic over breelom. and it's move are good too, and if you use slaking better have skil swap on another poke to make it even usefull

Kijin June 15th, 2005 6:48 AM

You could, basically, hax all your pokemon to have maximum type coverage if you're going to be using teh hax on them, so asking if it's a good move to use when you have every move (ZOMG, GENGAR W/ VOLT TACKLE USED VOLT TACKLE!1one) is kind of self defeating. Gengar learns elemental punches from the move tutor in Emerald.
@Cynd/Char: The point of Slaking is that his attack is monsterous, you swing w/ him and cave a skull in, and then you switch him out.

pokenightmare June 15th, 2005 1:45 PM

Well, I am playing sapphire and I don't have anyone to trade with, so that's why I'm asking. Maybe Giga Drain for Gengar then?

brotlov June 28th, 2005 1:26 PM

Yes because you have no Grass types in your party so give Gengar Giga Drain.
