Combat Log
"Huh? This isn't the path to safety. What's the meaning of this?"

"Safety? Now let me see... Nope, I don't think we got that around here. Too bad!"

"Hush, sis. We're already in a big enough mess as is, I believe you're only making things worse.
Wait psst, do you hear that? I believe a big group of Pokémon passing by close. We might be in luck."

"A cry for help!
A damsel in distress shouldn't be ignored according to the Explorer's Code.
Let's go team, quick! We can try to beat them with that special Sandwich Ambush Strategy™ we learned about!"

You are challenged by the Marshians!

Nah August 23rd, 2018 11:51 AM

oh shit a swamp map

Question though: How exactly do things go with the Espeon on Umbreon here? Can we recruit them to our side or no? Does the map objective involve keeping them alive?

You can talk with them when you're in an adjacent square and then you'll surely find out. (:

And you don't have to keep them alive. But who knows... maybe doing so will net you a nice reward. ;)

CodeHelmet August 23rd, 2018 12:49 PM

So I'm clicking on the new enemies and I get no info/profile as to what level they are/gender/etc. Our characters are fine(I get a profile back) but the enemies appear to be bugged or not working. *Edit* Nvm, looking at them now.

Also yay for Swamp/Marsh lol. Good thing I got me Jetpack. I'll start at H2 since I don't like the Water Types up at the top(plus there's lots of Bug and Grass Pokemon down south and I'll be closer to that). Electric Types are going to not like this Battle though. All the Water Types(except Surskit and Shellos) are part Ground so Grass Types, time for you to shine. Lots of Poison Types though.

I'll begin formulating strategy over next 24 hours with placement/suggested moves. You're all welcome to make your placement choices. Do know we can't all be grouped together so we'll have to split up into two teams. I recommend a Grass Type or two start up north to handle the Woopers. Looks like Coral will be doing Rollout again with all the Bug Types.

LilyGardy August 23rd, 2018 1:30 PM

I think I will have my starting position as I22.

There's a few Grass Pokemon on the map I can't do anything to but also some Ground Pokemon which I should be able to defeat after a couple of Growths.

CodeHelmet August 23rd, 2018 2:12 PM

Ok so here's what I'd suggest(remember its tentative and not set in stone nor to be followed).

North Group:

Lily at I22; First target will likely be Wooper-C seeing as you have x4 on it. Should KO it after Cuddles moves.
Cuddles at I21; First target will likely be Wooper-C(you'll be going first to weaken it while getting out on the water).
Felix at G21; First target likely will be Paras-B to remove the Bug threat
Solstice at H21; First target will likely be Wooper-B as you have x4 on it
Krakanos at G22; First target will likely be Paras-B to remove the Bug threat
Mags at H22; Use Light Screen to boost Special Defense <- you move first to give everyone the effect
Elwind at G23; Use Double Team or target Paras-B?
Mercy at H23; Use Double Team so as to save your ability(move out front to cover Solstice from Poison/Flying moves)

South Group:
Rinnia at F1; Confusion on Croagunk-A seeing as you have x4 on it
Hit at G2; Target Skorupi-A with Wing Attack or Rock Throw(Flying more reliable with accuracy)
Linus at H1; Target Wooper-A seeing as you have x4 on it with Razor Leaf
Mozilla at H2; Target Paras-A seeing as I have x4 on it with Ember
Meta at F2; Target Skorupi-A or Croagunk-A to finish either one off. Flying movement won't impede you in Swamp.
Nah at J2; Target Wooper-A to remove the Water threat if Linus doesn't take it down
WooWoo at J1; Target Dratini with Night Shade to weaken it(I miss Glacier already)
Robin at G1; Use Reflect to boost everyone's Defense. <- move first to give everyone the effect
Priscilla at I2; Target Surskit or wait? Your partner in crime is WooWoo with Nuzzle/Hex combination
Coral at I1; Use Helping Hand? <- if so move first to give everyone the effect
Alex at D2; Grab item nearby?

Its not our starting spots :P Our starting spots are a 4x3 grid up north(G to J and 21 to 23) and a 2x7 grid down south(D to J and 1 to 2). Needless to say to talk to the NPC's, we're going to have to work our way to the target. I aim to have Krakanos to hack away at those trees to cut a hole and escape route for those Eevolutions.

CodeHelmet August 23rd, 2018 3:29 PM

So here are move suggestions going off the suggested placements I have in previous post. Again these are tentative and do not have to be followed. Heck I welcome feedback/alternative suggestions.

North Group:
Mags stays at H22 and uses Light Screen <- boosting Sp.Def of all nearby allies
Cuddles I21 to L21; Use Astonish on Wooper-C
Lily stays at I22; Use Magical Leaf on Wooper-C <- finishing it off
Solstice H21 to I19; Use Vine Whip on Wooper-B
Felix G21 to E18; Use Spark on Croagunk-B
Krakonos(I don't know why I keep spelling it with an "a") G22 to E21(marsh be damned); Use Cut on Paras-B
Elwind G23 to E22; Use Feint on Paras-B <- KO? Let's pray for a Critical Hit!
Mercy to H19; Use Double Team while covering Solstice's left flank(won't protect him from Pidove though) or G23 to H19; Use Shadow Sneak on Wooper-B <- finishing it off most likely

South Group:
Robin stays at G1; Use Reflect to raise Defense of nearby allies
Coral stays at I1; Use Helping Hand
Rinnia F1 to D1; Use Confusion on Croagunk-A
Hit G2 to G4; Use Wing Attack on Skorupi-A
Meta F2 to G3; Use Quick Attack on Skorupi-A <- KOing it if Hit doesn't; else use Agility because mobility is awesome
Alex D2 to C2; Grab item or D2 to D3; Use Quick Attack on Croagunk-A <- KO if Rinnia doesn't OHKO
Mozilla H2 to N1; Use Ember on Paras-A
Nah J2 to I5; Use Dragon Rage on Wooper-A
Linus H1 to J2; Use Razor Leaf on Wooper-A <- KO it
WooWoo J1 to K2; No Action
Priscilla I2 to H7; Use Spark on Surskit <- Helping Hand boost may be enough to KO it with Spark but you can also do Nuzzle.

Almost positive he has Effect Spore ability for Paras(Dry Skin with me on the field? Oh hell no). Meaning Krakonos might be in for a rude awakening on the Cut attack. Should try and refrain from using Water Type moves until that Shellos is removed. Storm Drain ability would be wicked....

TailsMK4 August 23rd, 2018 5:09 PM

Coral will start at I1, and will right away use Helping Hand without moving.

Midnight Umbreon August 23rd, 2018 6:18 PM

welp. i found a computer, and i must say, those sprites are nice.

CodeHelmet August 23rd, 2018 9:02 PM

Been looking at enemy pokemon and their abilities and if I was Lycan, I'd give the Woopers Water absorb ability so as to make them immune to water moves(which do normal damage thanks to their Ground Typing). Meaning I'll have to change Cuddles move to Astonish since its a more sure fire move to work heh. Also, looking at enemy Pokemon is a pain when the map is on page 24(at end) and enemy profile page is on page 25. Hence I have to view the map in post reply mode to see the past posts. Therefore an update(with them together would help a lot).

Meadow August 23rd, 2018 9:19 PM

Alrighty, let's have Solstice start at H21! That Wooper is soooo going down. :D

NOTICE: Hi everyone, please click here if you wish to access the main thread of "Who's That Pinkémon"!

It's time to put your Pinkémon knowledge to the test with our weekly contest of "Who's That Pinkémon"! Once a week every Tuesday I'll post a zoomed-in section of a Pinkémon and it's your job to tell me which Pinkémon the art belongs to. All of the art used will be from the Pinkémon's official Dream World art and will be a 30x30 px section of the art cropped and zoomed in 8x. Once you think you have an answer, send it to me in a PM and you could be our next prize winner!

Directions

  • Guess the Pinkémon whose art is being featured!
  • The clue is a 30x30 px section of the Pokémon's Dream World art (found here) cropped and magnified 8x.
  • Send Meadow a PM (private message) with your answer once you've figured it out - you may answer as many times as you want per week, but only your final answer will count!
  • Do not post answers in this thread - you don't want other people to use your answers, do you?
  • Feel free to chat about the puzzles and how easy/hard you find them; that's the fun of this game after all!
  • Submit your answers by next Tuesday (February 23) before 10:00 p.m. EST if you want them to count!

Rewards!

A winner is a winner and a winner is you - assuming you won! Here's what you can expect to win from accumulating points by guessing puzzles correctly. (Hover over the emblems for descriptions!)

All "Weekly Puzzles" (including this puzzle) are worth one point on the rankings.

Clue - Week 45

As of May 31, 2015, Mega Pokémon are now included as possible answers in the standard "Who's That Pokémon" rounds!

Good luck, everyone! Feel free to discuss the puzzle in either this thread or the Thread That's Not Pink Yet! I added a poll to this thread to get an idea of its general difficulty level, so I would appreciate it if you gave your opinion! (All votes are anonymous, so there's no need to be shy!) ^^

CodeHelmet August 23rd, 2018 11:46 PM

After everyone selects their starting spots, we can get this battle started. Spirit Shackle should be available tomorrow, as will Clover I think.

Also everyone should read up on this: PMD ability guide Considering all the Pokemon with varying abilities(some of which I've never seen since I haven't played Gen 3 onward), this ought to help determine what abilities the enemy may have. Croagunk has Dry Skin because its other ability is effectively useless :D

ah fuck I totally missed all that

So ok then I'll start at J2, but I'll wait on the Grass types attacking the Woopers before making my move. It's possible they can OHKO them, so I can save my move for something else if need be.

L'Belle August 24th, 2018 5:00 AM

I Suppose I will let Woowoo start at C11, so that we can get to the south quickly.

LilyGardy August 24th, 2018 6:04 AM

Will Magical Leaf be strong enough to take out Wooper C without a Growth Boost? I think it will with any prior damage.

Grass Types you shouldnt worry about too much(you resist Grass as a Dragon Type but with Ground Typing, they do normal damage. Same deal with the Woopers since Dragon resists Water as well but with your Ground typing, they deal normal damage). Its ICE that you should be wary of and fortunately I dont see anyone that can deal an Ice move.

Um C11 isn't a valid starting spot. As I noted before, we have two starting areas: A 4x3(or 3x4 who cares) up North and a 2x7(or 7x2, who cares right?) down South. They're colored Blue-ish, which is a bit hard to make out with the tile background kind of masking it :D

I intend to have Cuddles attack Wooper-C with Astonish prior to you attacking with Magical Leaf. In the weakened state, it ought to be enough for you to KO it without a boost from Growth. Remember you do x4 and multipliers in this game mean quite a bit. Furthermore, you also have STAB which also has a big impact on the damage outcome. Last battle, those who had both STAB and x4 were doing 40+ damage at level 15. At level 20, we ought to push 50, if not more and with Cuddles dealing 10-15 damage with Astonish, that ought to be enough to KO it. Granted its the first round so it'll be helpful to gauge just how much damage we could look to be doing for the rest of the battle. Its Solstice that might not KO Wooper-B, hence Mercy following it up with a STAB Ghost move.

Aldo August 24th, 2018 7:13 AM

Allright, Mercy will start at G23 and move to H19, hoping to finish off Wooper B with Shadow Sneak ~

Heh ok, not where I had you placed in my mock start but still viable. Mind if I try something with your Corsola Twig to see if I can’t verify Shellos’ ability? If I’m right, it’ll confirm it having Storm Drain, which in the act of doing your twig attack will cause it to be blocked but as a result, boosting your Special Attack(for how long I don’t know). If it has Sticky Hold instead, your Attack will go through as it should. That is unless the ability only activates for non-item attacks...

Do you have a suggestion? I am a bit unsure of where to start

Well a few posts back I did a mock placement of everyone with the following post having mock Round 1 moves based on those placements(Caite already deviated from the mock so I have to adapt lol) but in a nut shell you can pretty much start anywhere on the map that is overlayed with Blue diagonal lines(wish I could cut an individual square to show you but I lack such know how). There are two areas to choose from: 3x4 grid up north(G-J for column, 21-23 for row) and 2x7 grid down South(D-J for columns, 1-2 for rows). In my mock I had you placed at J1 but really you can go anywhere you want since your Phase movement ability permits you to literally go anywhere).

I’ll also add that for those new to the game, we have Battle#1 as a reference for you to look at, including the starting placement decision process.

Swamp level? That's just great! As I already wasn't fed up with them from playing Fire Emblem: Echoes nonstop these last few days. At least it doesn't hurt us.

Ohh, you noticed? I planned on telling you once the game is over.

Anyway, I think I'll start at G22 as suggested.

Might have something to do with the fact this tablet auto-corrects to Krakanos as opposed to Krakonos.

I'll start at J1 then.
