Let's talk tablets
Does anybody here still use a tablet for everyday use, or any use at all? Or have those now become a thing of the past at this point?
|
It's... hard to justify a tablet in this day and age.
Maybe it's just me. As phone screens get larger and larger and more powerful, they've really gotten to the point where tablets just seem... unnecessary. If you really need the screen real estate of a tablet, then the growing market of 2-in-1 laptops would be right up your alley. They're expensive, sure, but when you consider what you're getting and what kind of long-term benefits you're reaping out of it, it starts to become a much more appealing option. I feel like tablets these days are more for people who own a desktop PC and don't travel far nor frequently and just don't find it necessary to spend a whole lot of money on a laptop. Or maybe you're the budget consumer who can't afford a desktop PC or a laptop, then owning a tablet would be the next best thing (although it can be argued that depending on which tablet you get, you'd be better off spending money on a Chromebook if you really wanted a computer). Overall though, tablets just aren't a hot commodity like they used to be, I think. |
I have one, it's nice to use at home when I'm not on a computer, instead of a phone because of its larger screen.

i always think of tablets as a toy. i use it mostly to play games and watch videos and such. its becoming obsolete imo

I don't have a tablet because i am still a kid (15th). I think that tablet are really useless. Though iam going to buy one, in the future. To play PTCGO.

Seems like I'm the only one who likes and still enjoy a tablet. I still use mine I bought in 2015

I use my devices at home pretty evenly, including my Nexus 7 2013 tablet as of late. It's slower than most my other devices because of its age, but it's not overly slow. |
I’m literally responding to this thread on my 2017 10.5 iPad Pro.
I use my iPad literally all the time for everything - music, general internet browsing, chatting on discord, etc. I have a nifty case and a nice, foldable Bluetooth keyboard. It also came in handy while directing a play - the Notability app with the Apple Pencil was my best friend throughout the entire process. Here a few screenshots as to how I utilized it - mainly as an efficient PDF Markup tool. For more intense stuff, I still have my MacBook. I just prefer the portability of my iPad. |
I've been debating getting a tablet for art purposes but thats about it. My tablet is somewhere unused and has been for a while because it's basically a bigger version of my phone so i haventhad much of a need to use it, honestly. Though thinking about it naybe if i used it my phone wont die as quickly pft.

I recently bought a second hand iPad Air cheap, was offered it by chance. It's in really good condition, I also bought a case for it cheap from eBay.
It's very good but I still prefer a laptop to type on and there's some things the laptop can do which the iPad can't. I think I'll use the iPad in bed for Twitch and YouTube mainly. |

I don't own one myself, but that's mainly because I'd see no use in having an iPad since I have an iPhone. |
I only ever use a tablet for any of my internet needs
