Fairy January 13th, 2020 8:06 AM

Hey Nituo! Glad you made your way over here! (。・ω・。)ノ♡

I know the feeling, haha. I love all the fairies so it’s hard to narrow it down even a little! I just think they’re all so cute omg.

Anyone else hyped for the Fairies we should be getting in the SWSH DLC? So far I only know about Dedenne and Azumarill, but that’s still pretty great! Also rumor has it Alolan Vulpix will be coming to us in February sometime, so fingers crossed!

Fairy January 16th, 2020 3:16 PM

Oh! By the way everyone, I've added more to the Fairy Type wallpaper I made a while ago. Free to use! Though expect even more to be added cause I can never get enough, aha. <3

**also, I swear when I put this together I had the source to the lace borders on the side panels but I can't for the life of me find it so until I recover the originator expect those to be removed as well.

Heck yeah it is!!! Congratulations!! Sakura is such a cute name. ( ˘ ³˘)♡

Pure Essence January 21st, 2020 4:34 PM

Every Pokemon I plan to use is going to have a Fire Emblem character's name. There's Yarne the Cinderace, Tiki and Nagi the Flapples, one gigantamax, and of course Marth is a Zacian.

Fairy January 21st, 2020 5:15 PM

That's actually quite clever! This year I decided not to go with a specific naming scheme for my Pokemon (last year was all French). But all of my Alcremie -- of which I AM GETTING EVERY FORME -- are cafe / sweets themed.

So I've got Latte, Vanilla, Mocha, Crème, Chai, Soy, Dairy, Milk, Custard, Mochi, Matcha, Cream, Boba, Milk, Cocoa, Éclair, Macaron, Yogurt....... you get the picture lol.

Coming by to congratulate my sister for winning the People's Choice Awards by popular vote this month. I didn't come straight away because I wanted to do something extra special for all of you, so I talked to Kitty. Her skillful hands have put together this work of art to bestow on The Fairy Type Club and a friend.

You have made so many beautiful designs for others Fairy that it only seemed right to give something equally magical back to you. I present The Fairy Type Club with first place in the People's Choice Award, and pin on this club of fairy light and enchantment a Rainbow Wing medal. I envisioned a rainbow wing because only the worthy can receive this feather in game, and it is known that anyone who manages to see Ho-oh's feathers will live a life full of good luck and happiness and their dreams come true. That seemed fitting in honor of a club that brings so much light into the life others, it's what you deserve! Ho-oh's feather is also in honor of Nica, the Ho-oh mod who used to work side by side with us as the Clubhouse. Behold the talents of Kitty!

Think about what store you would like your 20 dollar gift card reward to Jo! Kobo books? iTunes? Crunchy Roll? Nintendo E Shop? The sky's the limits!

Btw, the dragon lover is joining the fairy club at last. My favorite fairy types are Mimikyu, Togekiss, Florges and Primarina.

I haven't played SWSH yet, but I look forward to battling with Alcremie.

Ninetales February 10th, 2020 6:53 PM

Can I add Slurpuff and Hatterene to my favourite fairy types? Thank you! :)

VisionofMilotic February 13th, 2020 5:00 AM

I forgot about Hattarene! I can't wait to use this beautiful pokemon too.

Sheep March 12th, 2020 12:49 PM

shiny hatterene is sooo pretty too

Got room for one more Fairy lover? :) It is my favorite type after all!

Name: Castform
Favorite fairies: all of them Klefki, Alcremie, Primarina, Azumarill, Xerneas, Clefable, Mawile, Zacian, Galarian Weezing

When XY introduced this awesome type I knew immediately it would be one of my favorite types but after seeing all of the Pokemon that got this type and how great of a type it is in battle it very quickly became my favorite type in all of Pokemon. Super looking forward to potentially getting more Fairies in the DLC!

Sirfetch’d April 8th, 2020 5:47 PM

I have a question for you fairy lovers, what unused type combination with fairy would you all most like to see next?

Ninetales April 8th, 2020 6:36 PM

I would love to see a fairy/dragon type for sure! I’d magine it to be a cute little dragon with butterfly wings that evolves into something ultra-powerful.

VisionofMilotic April 9th, 2020 8:32 AM

Wouldn't mind seeing a fairy flying fire Pokemon, make it a firefly. Maybe give it slightly pixie Tinkerbell-ish physical attributes with big beautiful red wings ablaze with flames.

Yesterday was a good fairy catching day for me. I caught 2 shiny swirlix with the natures I wanted. One will become a Slurpuff, the other will stay a Swirlix because I can't decide which one I like more. I caught a shiny Dedenne next who also had just the nature I was looking for. I am really excited about this shiny. I named it Easter Bunny, couldn't resist. It looks like dark chocolate candy that could be in an easter basket I give out.

Come to think of it, these are the first shiny fairies I caught in the wild. I did breed a shiny Mawile though once, and was also given a shiny ralts as a Christmas present the year before last.

This dragon is having herself a good time coming to know the wonderful world of fairies. I would like to add a shiny Florges to my collection eventually as well. Send me good fairy vibes y'all as I go about my quests.

Sirfetch’d April 17th, 2020 6:13 PM

Correct me if I am wrong but we still don’t have a Fairy/poison Pokémon do we? That is literally my dream combination! maybe something based on a genie in a bottle or something could be really cool.

Well there is Galarian Weezing, but your idea sounds even better. A genie in a bottle would be so cool! I imagine this pokemon having a violet gaseous aura. You find it in a dungeon and it just appears to be a dropped item like a potion or elixer. It could be called old lamp or glass bottle. You might have to make a choice between it and a valuable item like a big nugget, but if you choose right then you can get a cool pokemon later. Maybe you have to walk with it many steps like the time it takes for an egg to hatch for the genie to appear and you might gradually get messages like "bottle is sparkling" and eventually you get the option to rub it or uncork it, initiating a Pokemon battle with the poison fairy mon.

I think a ghost fairy could also be a cool new type somewhere down the road.

Sirfetch’d April 21st, 2020 1:21 PM

I can’t believe I forgot about galarian weezing! It’s one of my favorite gen 8 Pokémon ahaha

Sheep April 21st, 2020 4:17 PM

i like the concept behind galarian weezing, it's unique and not something most people would expect a fairy to look like haha

but meanwhile, i would just love to see celebi as a fairy type. especially pink shiny celebi! so perfect ;_;

Ninetales April 21st, 2020 4:54 PM

I personally prefer regular Weezing because it’s so iconic and reminds me of James! I do like the concept of Galarian Weezing, though. It is one of the better regional variants in my opinion.

I do think that Celebi should be a fairy type, although its grass/psychic typing works since it is a forest guardian and can time travel.

It should realistically be all 3 types. ^-^

Decibel575 April 24th, 2020 3:42 AM

I was going through typing just now, and a type I'd love to see is a Fairy/Ground type.

But when I look over typings, we're only missing a Fairy/Fire and Fairy/Ground.

Fairy/Flying - Togekiss
Fairy/Rock - Diance
Fairy/Water - Azumarill
Fairy/Grass - Shinotic
Fairy/Poison - Weezing
Fairy/Ghost - Mimikyu
Fairy/Bug - Ribombee
Fairy/Normal - Iggybuff
Fairy/Dragon - Mega Altaria
Fairy/Psychic - Ralts line
Fairy/Steel - Mawile
Fairy/Ice - Ninetales
Fairy/Fighting - Zacian
Fairy/Dark - Impidimp
Fairy/Electric - Dedenne

So both that we're missing would be kind of cool

Sirfetch’d April 25th, 2020 5:53 PM

Yeah fairy/fire could be really cool. I had a concept in mind for a fairy/fire galarian Volbeat/Illumise!

VisionofMilotic April 26th, 2020 5:19 AM

I can't believe I forgot about Mimikyu, and that we have a ghost/fairy already. It's my favorite gen 7 pokemon.

I still want that fairy fire type too, gimme my fire fairy.

Maybe we get the fire fairy is part of series of elemental fairies celebrating earth air, fire and water. Though we already have water and air, Primarina and Togekiss are also favorite Pokemon of mine, we can still get another more fairy/water and fairy/flying pokemon, and unveil two totally new fairy combos the fire fairy and the ground fairy-- the latter beinf more like an earth angel.

When fairy Pokémon are mentioned most people think of something like Sylveon due to it being the first new Fairy revealed or Gardevoir due to its popularity. But what do you guys think about the literal Fairy Pokémon, Granbull?

VisionofMilotic May 9th, 2020 5:58 AM

I love big dogs breed in real life, so I'm probably never gonna hate a big ole canine. I love Aracanine, Lucario and the legendary dogs. Might as well say yes to Granbull too, and complete the collection. He's got the Looney Tunes bull dog vibe goin' on. His muscular, tough guy look is definitely more appealing to me than Snubull. So I'll give him a hug.

https://i.postimg.cc/m28j82Np/images.jpg

What always seemed to curious to me is why he was called the fairy pokemon, but with Pokemon I know there's usually a lot more going on under the surface than may meet the eye. So I bet there's an interesting reason behind it. I have heard it said sometimes that Granbull is based on a supernatural creature from Irish folklore the Cu Sidhe, an imposing dog known as the fairy hound that makes eerie howls and carries souls to the underworld. Honestly though, I think that sounds actually more like Houndoom than Granbull. So I still wonder...

Any other theories about why Granbull has the intriguing fairy typing and name?

Sirfetch’d May 11th, 2020 10:52 AM

I’ve also always been curious myself why it was branded the Fairy Pokémon when it would be fitting for a Pokémon like Clefairy a bit more. I’m very happy though that it is the Fairy Pokémon and is a bit different than the traditional fairy type Pokémon in how it’s a bit more menacing and less cutesy than some others.

I really like Snubbull and Granbull!!

I’ve been running different play through ideas in my head over the last few days and have heavily considered doing a mono fairy run either in xy or usum. Any suggestions for team members and have any of you done a mono run with this amazing type before?

Sheep May 25th, 2020 8:47 AM

Never done a mono but fairy is awesome and I'm thinking about it!!

there are so many good options in xy.... florges, aromatisse or slurpuff, sylveon, comfey, togekiss, azumarill... you have so many good options for a run<3

VisionofMilotic May 25th, 2020 6:08 PM

It could be fun to do a team with every different color Florges.

Sheep May 27th, 2020 6:35 AM

omg that is a cute idea
i don't like florges as much as floette so i'd probably have bunches of fun using different colored ones of them!

VisionofMilotic May 28th, 2020 3:13 AM

I wish AZ's Floette had been released with the super high stats, unique color scheme and signature move light of ruin. XY deserved a Pokemon Z game. Maybe an XY remake will give us that special a Floette.

These are some of the dreams I would like to see come true in XY remakes. In addition to AZ's Floette being obtainable in game, make Zygarde part of the main story. Each of the the three members of the Aura trio are interesting, so let's continue to explore that dynamic of Xerneas the creator, Yyvetal the destroyer and Zygarde the preserver in the plot next time we visit Kalos. Give my favorite of the three some cut scenes too, darn it!

I would also develop Diantha's character and made her more proactive in the plot assisting you. Oras did that with Steven Stone.

AZ should have a complete team and be a final boss in one of the dungeons with really high level Pokemon since he's been alive for thousands of years like level 80s or 100.

A friend recently pointed out to me that XY broke with the tradition of releasing new eevees as a duo I.E Johto's Espeon and Umbreon then Sinnoh's Glaceon and Leafeon. Sylveon needed a brother, and if I had the power to release a pokemon Z game I would have given him one. It could have been a dragon Eevee that Sylveon was super-effective against, or a poison or steel eevee that was super-effective against Sylveon. Either way.

This is a fun minor thing, but it could be cute to have minigames about performing since the champion is an actress based on Audrey Hepburn. Either Pokestar Studios could open a branch in Kalos or there could be something brand new like a district in Lumiose with theaters you act in.

I see so many ways you could continue to do delightful things in Kalos.

Sirfetch’d June 2nd, 2020 4:14 PM

I’m very disappointed we never got AZ’s Floette. It’s such a shame that it was in the data of both gen 6 and 7 to only sit there and never be released.

Fairy June 9th, 2020 5:21 PM

Ohhhh man do I have some catching up to do! I'll update the main post once, uhh, I remember how to do CSS lol. And thank you so much for the reward! I'm so proud and glad that y'all have kept this thread running even in my absence. You guys are the real heroes. <3333

Also ^^^^^ second the AZ Floette issue. Would have been nice to see a proper release of it with an evolution. It just screams Fairy/Poison to me and I love that.

VisionofMilotic June 11th, 2020 8:44 PM

I think AZ's Floette could also be fairy ghost, since he resurrected it from death.

Such a beautiful little moment in XY.

Sirfetch’d June 13th, 2020 7:32 PM

Ohh Fairy/Ghost would have been great for a typing! Since it didn’t already have a secondary typing it would have been easy to add it and it would have made total sense.

Overall kalos is very incomplete so maybe it will get revisited one day and we’ll get a much deeper story regarding the Floette and get to use it!

Fairy June 13th, 2020 10:14 PM

Speaking of which, does anyone have a shiny Comfey, Cutiefly, or Popplio? I’ve got a shiny Swirlix and Igglybuff who need a good home!

How come I lived this far without knowing the existence of the Fairy Club?! Wonderful!
I would like to join, too. If there's no problem of course.

Let's see... My name is Dan and guess you can tell which Fairy type I love the most, but aside of the Togetic family there is:

Granbull ; despite being a rough-looking pokémon, Granbull has won a place in my heart as one of my first MVP in Gold. (Even if it wasn't a fairy back in the day).

Florges; ah! The floral beauty of pokémon, I caught the blue flower one and I can say it's just beautiful to see its floral arrangements from behind!

Sylveon; my, this is my favorite eeveelution. It's really adorable! Not to say popular among every fairy-lover, too! Sylveon is also quite powerful.

Azumarill; round, cute, and blue. What more can you ask for? This little fella was also one of my Gold and HeartGold partners, I love them being fairy-type now!

M. Mawile; Behold! She's quite the danger! I had one back in Emerald and gave it another chance in AS. I was surprised by how the mega changed her looks to be even fiercer than before.

Diancie; This one has a good story. I never knew Diancie was an actual pokémon until I played a now shutted-down fangame and encountered it just by luck! First I thought it was Carbink's evolution, so I tried to evolve as many Carbinks as I could but it never worked. Then I found it was a singular pokémon and laughed as hard as my frustration let me to. To think I just had to Bulbapedia it...

Finally, but no less important, Mimikyu. As Diancie, Mimikyu was one of the pokémon I met via fangame. Crazy, right? It just stole my heart the moment I saw the scrapped cloth it has as "face" and wooden thunder shaped tail, mimicking the known by all and loved by many, Pikachu.

Well, thank you for reading until the end. I hope I can become a member as soon as possible, Fairy-type rocks!
Take care, I'll see you all around!

Welcome to the club, Dan! Sorry for the late reply! Of course there's no problem for you to join, anyone who appreciates the Fairy type is welcome in my eyes! <3

Thanks for such a detailed description on your favorite Fairies! We don't get to hear often why it's someone's favorite Pokemon. I actually thought the same thing about Diancie when I first saw it, lmao.

Fairy July 28th, 2020 4:51 AM

Oof, I finally updated the first post to include all the gen 8 Fairies. I totally forgot to do it before. .___.;;

Danvex203 July 28th, 2020 5:32 PM

Thank you so much! I am grateful with you all for letting me join the club.
If I may ask you guys, why or how did you start liking Fairies? Was it their mythical looks? Or maybe their fighting charm? As for me, fairy type meant happiness and joy, I totally love their concept and how well their design is represented. Also, we needed quite the change for the dragon meta, don't you guys think?
Fairies' magic defeats dragons' might, how poetical!

VisionofMilotic July 29th, 2020 1:35 PM

I just received in the mail a catalog from Victorian Trading Co. I love their clothing, they have lots of cute styles like hats, dresses and blouses reminiscent of Ms. Jane Austen's era. They also specialize in lots of decorative arts like mirrors, tea sets, jewelry boxes, lighting fixtures. Their designs are often whimsical like garden stakes shaped like fairies, brooches that look like butterflies and bumblebees, Alice in Wonderland-themed clocks.

This shop has a cd called The Fairy Garden, featuring lots of different relaxing melodies on pipes and strings that evidentaly would be fitting music for a fairy to compose. I think that I shall add this album to my next order my fey friends.

I have also been thinking about the splash/ banner project. I was wondering if any type of fairy imagery would be allowed, or if fairy pokemon specifically are the ideal. I mentioned this because I am big fan of the artwork of photographer Susan Scalora, and her world is full of supernatural scenes like wizards, angels and of course fairies. Things of this nature.

https://i.postimg.cc/zDhFNsmm/images-3.jpg

If allowed I wouldn't mind making a nod to some of these fairies in the splash/banner project while there's still time.

Fairy July 30th, 2020 3:09 AM

We can most certainly include different types of Fairies imo! This thread isn’t just limited to a love of fairy Pokémon but appreciation for all types of fae in folklore too! I would be honored to include a small tribute them in the splash. :)

QUESTION OF THE WEEK: FAVORITE ALCREMIE FORM GO!
https://i.redd.it/o6edz8xspvz31.png

Fairy August 26th, 2020 3:52 AM

So as Crown Tundra gets closer to release, what’s the Fairy type you’re most excited about seeing return? :)

Fairy October 1st, 2020 1:07 AM

Question of th week:

Other than Pokémon, what are your favorite types of mythological fae?

VisionofMilotic October 1st, 2020 8:06 AM

That's a tough one. I like Oona, the precious, quick-tempered and childlike fairy from Legend who had a crush on the Jack aka Tom Cruise. The way she is lit and costumed is truly otherworldly. A terribly underrated movie in my opinion, visually it's a work of art. There are suits of armor, goblins, magical steeds in this movie that look fit to share a film set with The Lord of the Rings.

The land of FernGully also always occupied a special place in my heart, a magical Amazon rain forest inhabited by a fairy community who coexisted peacefully alongside the trees, insects, lizards and other living things. I liked the fairy heroine Crysta of course for her bravery and purity of heart. I think the swaggering fairy boy Pips was also amusing. This is a beautiful animated film with an important message to audiences of all time.

Morgan Le Faye from Arthurian legend is arguably the greatest fairy of them all.

I am fascinated by the fairies depicted in Brian Froud's books. I have been vocal about my love for Suza Scalora's children's book The Fairies: Photographic Evidence of the Existence of Another World. My favorite still being the Purple Sleeping Fairy.

Dave October 3rd, 2020 8:26 AM

Name: Dave a.k.a TheKillerRedSkull

Favourite Fairies: Gardevoir and Xerneas

I like fairy types because when I close my eyes and imagine about Fairy types,
Just I find myself in a new Dimension. Also I find it cool that a person will evil powers has good deeds.

Okay bye.

I generally appreciate Gaelic and Celtic interpretations and understands of fairies as being whimsical and mischievous. Somewhat related, I've long been enamoured by will-o-wisps. Though they're technically mystical spirits and not fairies, I like to imagine them as being distant relatives of the fae.

I was wondering if anyone grew up listening to traditional or cultural stories or folktales of the fae? I’m very interested in the way various cultures interpret fairies! 💕

So I didn't grow up with fae folklore, but I have done extensive research about where it originated and what the stories are like! And... they're surprisingly gruesome lmao. I mean, I guess most children's stories from Eastern Europe / Grimm Fairytale era are rather dark, but yeah fae are most certainly not treated like the forest guardians we see them as today. They were once mischievous little shapeshifters who would steal the babies of unknowing parents and lead wayward travellers into a dark forest where they'd be lost forever.

I like our current interpretation of fairies lmao.

And speaking of which! Who was able to bring over more Fairies into Crown Tundra???? I was able to get Diance, all the Tapus, my shiny Carbink, and Xerneas. Which iirc I think is all of them??? But we're still missing some classic Fairies like Granbull, Florges, and obviously all of the Mega Pokemom who picked up a Fairy typing... but I doubt we'll see those ever again, rip. :(

Your tattoo is beautiful! ahh! I love it so much! <3 I hope the healing process is swift for you my dear!

Anyways, I have a question for everyone, what is a pokemon that you are surprised is a fairy type and why? Alternatively, which pokemon do you think should be given the fairy type?

RadEmpoleon January 28th, 2021 7:30 AM

I love Mawile but don't really understand why it's a Fairy type. It learns hardly any Fairy moves (it learns way more Dark moves) and it's based on a vengeful yōkai. It's literally called the "deceiver Pokémon" in the dex. If anything, it seems more like a Dark type than a Fairy type.

don't know why Mr. Mime got Fairy tbh. thought it was just a humanoid mime thing, and that doesn't seem all that mystical imo. and as to which pokemon should receive the Fairy type, JIRACHI. i was so shocked when it kept its Psychic Steel typing. it's one of the most fairy looking Pokemon in existence!

Fairy January 29th, 2021 7:33 PM

Oh yes yes yes! Welcome to the club! :D I promise i'll be doing an update soon!

As for Mawile, it's based in Japanese myth called the Futakuchi-onna. It basically means a woman with two faces -- one normal face, and one devilish mouth in the back of the head. This is usually caused by a curse or a mischievous spirit, hence the connection to fairies! Not all nature spirits are pixies, ya know? Def read more about it here. :)

And Mr. Mime?

... I got nothing. I have no idea why it's a Fairy. Maybe because it's considered something of a metaphysical being? Distorting reality with barriers and all that?

A fairy type club?! Count me in!

Name: The Fairy Pokémon
Favorite Fairies: Clefairy, Jigglypuff, Sylveon, Marill, Primarina, Diancie

Megan February 10th, 2021 1:19 AM

I'll join as well!

Name: Seliph
Favorite Fairies: Gardevoir, Azumarill, Mawile, Diancie, Clefable

I do find it strange, however, that the Marill line is considered Fairy. Not that I complain, though, it just makes them better. I also think both Celebi and Jirachi should be Fairy types, as well.

only reason i could think of is that they were still short on Fairies to meet a quota or something, so they cram scanned the Dex to see who was worthy of it and saw the Marill line first. in all honesty though, i feel like something like the Munna line might deserve the Fairy addition more. at that point there may be too many Psychic/Fairy types, but why not just remove Galarian Rapidash's Psychic typing? i dunno i just feel talky today about this lol.

as for Jirachi, i mean c'mon Game Freak this thing's shtick is that it grants wishes. are you kidding me right now?? :p

IMHO, I think Milotic should have gained the Fairy typing...

I know fairies are real as any other supernatural stuff like spirits. I wouldn't mess with them though and leave them be. Yes, their cute but if you read and study up on them they can be very mischievous and possibly bad as well dangerous too if you make them mad. By you inviting them in your home or working with them in some way. Always respect and bewarry, It's what I read up on from folk lore stuff I learned a bit when learning about Wicca.

Since I'm slowly getting back into the Pokémon scene I'm learning about all the new fairy types but like I said I really like Hatterene a lot so far. I'm extremely behind on all things Pokémon the games, TV series/movies and trading card game. Why I haven't posted in anything Pokémon thread yet. I'm pretty clueless sadly after years of doing other passions of mine. I might just make Pokémon art since I'm still debating on collecting the trading cards still.

Indeed! Fae folk of old are far from the ‘Tinkerbells’ we grew up with. They have the capacity to be devilish little creatures, even if they are synonymous with whimsy and nature. Just the same, nature can be deadly in her defense too. Best to admire from a distance.

Luckily there’s no wrong way to appreciate Pokémon, and certainly fairy Pokémon! So if you ever feel like posting some art (even if it’s not your own as long as you credit!), or cards that you might like to get in the future, or anything pertaining to just exploring appreciation in general, there’s nothing wrong with that! (。’▽’。)♡

Yes, you know your stuff on Fae folk, kudos to you~
I also agree with you as well.

For Pokémon I'm thinking of collecting the trading cards more than play the games. The games are so expensive and I really don't have that kind of money to get a $60.00 game. Even though it be cool too play one of the newer games, however I don't always play video games as I used too in my teenage years. Though who knows perhaps I might get one of the games layer on down the line but not anytime soon, I'm tight on money. The joys of being an adult, priorities over wants.

Question of the week: which Fairy Pokémon convinced you to decide to give Fairies a chance?

Mine was Sylveon, obviously. Fell in love with her instantly. But I’d like to know which Fairy Pokémon made you a convert? Was it a retyping of an old favorite or did you come to love the later designs?

Discuss!

Question of the week: which Fairy Pokémon convinced you to decide to give Fairies a chance?
It was never a "give a chance" situation. I just like to put a Gardevoir on my team. When it got the Fairy typing it was just a nice bonus added. I do however admit that I got fond of certain Pokemon that I wasn't really interested in using before. Azumarill was cool before but now it got a lot better, Mawile I barely used before because its pure Steel Typing, while cool, didn't give it much to work with, so getting a better Type combination and Play Rough access (as well as a Mega) made me really like it. Clefable is another Pokemon that I got interested in mostly because of it becoming Fairy instead of Normal.

As far as new Fairies goes it comes down to Diancie (especially its Mega) and Ribombee. I really liked using them in their respective games.

Question of the week: which Fairy Pokémon convinced you to decide to give Fairies a chance?

It was definitely Togekiss for me, so the retyping of an old favorite is what did the trick. I was a little skeptical of the introduction of fairies, since it's seemed to be a type created just to nerf my favorite type of Pokemon dragons. I was uncertain about seeing so many Pokemon all at once retroactively classified as fairy too. When steel was introduced as a typing in gen 2 there was only one Pokemon line from the previous generation that had it's typing altered, that being Magnemite, and the whole point of this line was that it was a magnetic Pokemon like steel, so it seemed like an obvious choice to receive this dual typing. Gen 6 was asking to get use to a lot more changes though, and I didn't always understand the reason a Pokemon had this typing added.

That being said Togekiss was my favorite favorite pokemon from Sinnoh, and if it and it's pre-evolutions were going to be fairy pokemon then it helped me accept that fairies weren't so bad. Now they are on my list og favorite types.

I have enjoyed raising Togepi since it debuted in gen 2. When I received the egg in the Johto games it was quite suspenseful taking steps, waiting for my egg to hatch, checking the status anxiously, curious to see what was inside. I remember taking great care as a kid to treat Togepi with friendship and evolve mine into Togetic on my copy of Gold. I just loved Togetic's design. It had such a sweet, angelic expression. I liked it's long swan-like neck, and how it had sprouted little pixie wings. It was one of those Pokemon I saw, and said, "I want that!" I have nostalgic memories of taking my baby Togepi to the haircut brothers of Goldenrod City to keep it happy. I also had fun battling in-game with it in-game as Togepi and Togetic. It was a mischievous pokemon, and I would use moves like encore and sweet kiss, most of all I adored using the metronome, and seeing what random move we would pull.

Then when I played gen 4 I was amazed by how powerful this evolutionary line became once I obtained Togekiss, and how tanky it's stats were, and I was suddenly using all these strong special moves like aura sphere. There are so many coverage options to choose from with Togekiss, fire type moves, psychic, electric and I liked talking a walk outside of the standard serene grass air slash set. It's also a healer.

Togekiss has an amazing cry, so drawn out and wonky. It's a Pokemon that brings good fortune. I liked too that Cynthia gave me the Togepi in Platinum. Her character is cool, and I treasure those kinds of exchanges with trainers I admire, like Steven gifting the beldum. Last but not least I immediately saw in this Pokemon the fairylike qualities, and don't think it was a stretch for it to become a fairy pokemon. That is what it was always meant to be.

Question of the week: which Fairy Pokémon convinced you to decide to give Fairies a chance?

Sylveon! since i never played the Gen 6 games, the first time i ever used one was in Pokemon Gaia, and it was pretty darn epic! i got introduced to really good moves like Moon Blast and Play Rough and figured that, hey if this stuff reflects the main series, Fairy might not be that bad after all~ it inspired me to look at more Fairy types overtime and i realized just how cool a lot of them were.

Morika March 30th, 2021 8:34 AM

Hatterene seeing her design, how cute and cool she looks made me fell in love with her and fairy types more. She reminds me of a witch, that I'm really into myself witchcraft and Wicca and been studying it since 2020. Well end of 2019 to be honest so about a year and a half of researching, studying and learning about the religion then witchcraft and witches as well.

Fairy March 30th, 2021 6:01 PM

Yes! I love the witchy inspiration for Hatterene. She’s like a pink sexy sorcerous and I can’t get enough of her! Especially when she can get a decent coverage move with Mystical Fire.

Do you think we’ll see any DPPt Pokémon be rebranded as Fairies in the upcoming remakes?
