(multi-gen) The Ludolocke

Ludonarrative dissonance: "...the conflict between a video game's narrative told through the story and the narrative told through the gameplay."

I planned to wait a while before I posted anything about challenges I want to do but everyone in the past gens subforum is making logs and lets plays, so I'll just jump right in.

The Ludolocke

Currently active players:
Ethmya, as Honest
Zemanahrad, as Jonathan
Disturb Not the Harmony, as Artin
Lrachelr, as Lucy
James and Eevee, as James.
Brewmaster, as Crystal

Rivals:
Honest and Crystal
Jonathan and Artin
Lucy and James

The Ludolocke is an attempt to resolve narrative discrepancies I, and others, experience when playing through the PKMN games. For example, we hear of all these terrible things Team Rocket does in Kanto. Beating a Marowak to death, stealing Pokemon from trainers, desecrating the graves of Pokemon, but we never see it. Whenever we encounter Team Rocket, they're a bunch of goofy, bumbling idiots that just barely function enough to be called a team.

This challenge intends to build a narrative out of the player's experiences, and real, fleshed out characters out of the player's trainers.

General Nuzlocke Rules
  • Only may catch the first PKMN in a route, unless the first PKMN is one already caught.
  • All faints are dead.
  • Challenge is complete once the main story is complete
  • The optional post-challenge is complete after the post-game is complete.
  • All participants are within the same "canon". We all exist at the same time in the same universe. Ramifications of this include:
"Only One" PKMN may only be owned by one trainer. If multiple trainers want the same only one PKMN, a friendly battle will decide who gets it.
No "Out of Canon" trades. This means players within the challenge may trade with each other and NPCs in game, but not out of the challenge universe.
  • 0 Intentional use of 'hard' glitches.
o This can be subjective, but in general I will classify glitches in two different categories.
o Soft glitches, glitches that may be encountered easily during normal play, such as switching a psychic type into another psychic type in gen 1 to stop it from using psychic moves, using hbeam to KO so it doesnt have to recharge, using Poke Doll on Marowak, etc.
o Hard glitches, glitches that will not be encountered unless you purposefully seek it out, such as the void glitch in DPP, Old Man glitch, Mew glitch, etc
  • Before the earliest opportunity to attain Poke balls, you may reset without penalty (for that sweet, sweet exp+early pokedollars) or continue without a game over. If you wipe after pokeballs, you have failed, and may not restart for this current game.
Of course, you should nickname your PKMN, but I can't force you to do so.
These rules are just par for the course. Now we get into the rules specific for this challenge.

Ludolocke Rules
  • Set not shift.
  • Until the post-challenge, you cannot box living PKMN. During the post-challenge, you may have up to 6 pkmn in boxes.
  • Cannot use items in battle.
  • Cannot leave a gym until it is completed or you wipe.
  • Your starter is randomly determined.
  • Master Ball is banned.
  • Every core game (and perhaps some fangames) will be played. You are not required to play every game in every gen, however...
    • In each subsequent game you play the son/daughter of your previous character. You may inherit Pokemon from your previous character after you reach the point in the game where all trade pokemon obey. You may inherit 3 PKMN for clearing the main story, and 3 PKMN for clearing the post game. Any PKMN from one game may be inherited to any other in that game's gen or the gen afterwards.
For example, if you catch Mewtwo in RB, you may transfer it to Y, GS, or C, but not to RSE if you sit all of those games out.
  • Encounters are reset if you decide to brave the post-game, but if you start it you must finish or fail.
  • Shiny clause is not real.
  • Hax clause defo isn't real.
These rules are intended to increase tension and put you more on equal footing with the NPCs in the game, although you are at a bit of a mechanical disadvantage since you can't use items in battle, surely you are smarter than them!

The Actual Narrative.

That's all the rules for the game, but there are a few more narrative requirements I would like you to complete if you'd like to join! I'm going to be writing (and probably drawing some key scenes!) a narrative detailing the experiences of the players, so your trainer will become a character in the story, and you filling this out will help me write them well, realistically, and most importantly, compellingly.
  • Trainer name
  • Trainer age
  • Trainer nature
  • Backstory (Short, 2 sentences-1 paragraph. Where has your character been, where are they going, and why are they going there?)
  • Personality (Short, 2 sentences-1 paragraph. A concise, crash course detailing your character's personality. A list of adjectives is acceptable.
To enroll, just reply in this thread saying you'd like to sign up. You can either post your trainer info here in the thread or in a PM/VM.

If you decide to enroll, I will randomly choose a starter PKMN (with only PKMN that do not know attacking moves on start, such as Abra, Magikarp, and Ditto being excluded) and write you a character sheet that includes an analysis of your team core, suggested moves, suggested teammates, and a list of important match ups. Of course, these are all only suggestions and you may follow or discard them as you wish.
I've attached an attachment which is a word doc showing what your character sheet would look like, but if you, understandably, don't want to download a file from a random stranger on the Internet, the next post will show you what your sheet would look like, although it will lose some of its formatting.

I'm currently no longer accepting characters for RB, but you may send me a PM if you wish to start at a later game.

I can't wait to see how this goes!

This is what your character sheet will look like:

Honest:

Trainer name: Honest
Trainer age: 16
Trainer nature: Calm
Backstory:
Honest doesn’t want to be the very best, nor does he really wish to be a Pokemon trainer. He just has a hole in his heart he doesn’t know how to fill.
Personality:
Calm, cold, distant, aloof. Rational but occasionally abrasive. Has depressive episodes and angry outbursts, but generally good-natured. Wants to fill a hole. Doesn’t know what shape it is.

Starter:

• Caterpie
Butterfree should be taught:
• Confusion
• Stun Spore
• Sleep Powder
• Supersonic
• Psybeam
• Psychic

Butterfree should have these Pokemon as support:

One of these: (Water types to eat rock and fire moves)
• Golduck
• Poliwrath
• Slowbro
• Dewgong
• Starmie
• Gyarados
• Lapras
• Vaporeon
• Kabutops
One of these: (physical wall since her def is awful)
• Sandslash
• Golem
• Slowbro
• Marowak
• Rhydon
• Lapras
• Snorlax
• Arty
• Molty
One of these: (psychic type since she can’t touch the god psychics)
• Zam
• Slowbro
• Hypno
• Eggy
• Star
• Mime
• Jynx

Slowbro is the best core partner for Butterfree. These other mons are
coverage mons intended to patch their weaknesses. Any of them may be caught in any order.

• Raichu. Resists flying. Resists Electric. Neutral to rock. Redundant with Magneton/Jolteon
• Jolteon. Resists Flying. Resists Electric. Neutral to Rock. Redundant with Magneton/Raichu.
• Dugtrio. Resists Rock. Immune to Electric. Neutral to Flying. Redundant with the Nidos.
• Nidoking. Resists Rock. Immune to Electric. Neutral to Flying. Redundant with Dugtrio/Nidoqueen.
• Nidoqueen. Resists Rock. Immune to Electric. Neutral to Flying. Redundant with Dugtrio/Nidoking
• Marowak. Resists Rock. Immune to Electric. Neutral to flying. Redundant with the other mons in its class.
• Sandslash. Resists Rock. Immune to Electric. Neutral to flying. Redundant with the other mons in its class.
• Golem. Resists flying. Resists normal. Resists Rock. Resists Poison. Immune to Electric. A Golem coverage core means there is no decent move in gen 1 that can SE this team. Golem/Butterfree/Slowbro can literally kill this game by themselves, although it would be very tough.
• Rhydon. Same as Golem. Harder to catch.

Ideal team core:

• Butterfree/Slowbro/Golem or Rhydon.
• Butterfree/Slowbro/Raichu or Jolteon/Dugtrio or Nidoking or Nidoqueen or Marowak or Sandslash.

Important match ups:

1. Oaks Lab Rival: Caterpie is the starter and only has Tackle. Nothing really to do about that besides hope she doesn’t die. Luckily, everyone gets unlimited resets before Poke balls.
2. Butterfree will straight up murder Route 22 Rival’s team.
3. Butter Solos Brock. If they had Rock moves it would be a different story.
4. Butter solos Cerulean City Rival.
5. Butter will be walled by Starmie, so hopefully Pikachu is caught. If not, you have two options:
a. Sleep power and spam confusion
b. Sleep powder and supersonic+confusion
c. Sleep powder and switch to Graveller. This will be a hard fight and is one of the places you are likely to wipe.
6. Butter solos the SS Anne Rival.
7. Butter has no business being in Lt. Surge’s gym. Let her sit the whole thing out. Graveller or Raichu can fill the void.
8. Butter Solos Erika.
9. Graveller will take the lead for Rocket Hideout’s Giovanni, although Butter can solo Rhyhorn. She should not fight Kanga or Onix alone. This fight is easily wipable if you don’t pay attention.
10. Butter has no business fighting Lavender Tower Rival’s Eggy or Gyarados. Otherwise she is fine.
11. Butter has no business near anything that can blow up. Keep her out of Koga’s gym. Keep Graveller in.
12. Butter can Solo the Fighting Dojo. You should have Slowbro by this time.
13. Butter should stay away from Silph Rival’s Zam/Eggy/Gyarados.
14. Butter should be a high enough level to solo Silph’s Giovanni, although Kanga can still psyduck her up with a crit.
15. Butter has no business in Sabrina’s gym but neither does anyone besides Slowbro.
16. No Bugs allowed in Blaine’s gym. This is Slowbro’s paradise.
17. Butter should be able to solo Giovanni’s gym.
18. Butter should stay away from anything involving Blue at this point, his team is simply too strong for her.
19. Butter should stay away from Lorelei, this battle is for Raichu and Slowbro.
20. Butter can actually solo Bruno.
21. Butter can solo Agatha.
22. Butter should 100% stay away from Lance. The whole team besides her will have to come together to face him.
23. Same with the Champion battle. It’s a shame the starter cant really participate in the final main story battle, but gambling with her life this close to the end would be irresponsible.
24. Butter absolutely should stay away from Mewtwo. She shouldn’t even be in the cave, let alone in his room. Her career pretty much ends at Agatha.

This looks really interesting. I think I'll be playing Leaf Green for Kanto.

Trainer name: Jonathan
Trainer age: 21
Trainer nature: Sassy
Backstory: Jonathan is magician from Laverre City. After encountering real ghosts(?) on Route 14, he decided to investigate paranormal anomalies all over the world. He decided to go to the Kanto region's Lavender Town to meet with local Psychics and Channelers.
Personality: Jonathan is smart, but overconfident person. He's always trying to act cool and cocky, even when he's on the edge of the defeat. He loves to go against the odds, sometimes chasing impossible goals. He's also enjoying attention of other people when he's performing magic tricks.

Is this okay?

Disturb Not The Harmony September 9th, 2018 10:02 AM

All right, I'll sign up.

Trainer Name: Artin
Trainer Age: 17
Trainer Nature: Brave
Personality: Rash, aggressive
Backstory: A young man from a dysfunctional background, he has a permanent chip on his shoulder and places faith only in his own strength. Wants to be "the very best" to prove those in his past wrong.
Personality: Cocky, angry, bold. Prepared to barrel through anything. Relatively mentally quick, but may have poor attention to detail.

I figure this personality will make it easy to explain any, er, misclicks.

Edit: If it matters, I'll be playing Pokemon Blue.

Its totally fine that you're playing Blue! I'll be playing Blue as well.
You got Ratatta as a starter. I'll get your trainer sheet written up right now.
See you soon, youngster Joey.

Rash, aggressive, impetuous.

Starter:
Rattata

Raticate should be taught:
• Hyper Fang
• Super Fang (delay until 34. If evolve to Raticate, learns at 41)
• Hbeam
• Bslam
• Take Down
• Dedge
• Blizz
• Tbolt

Raticate should have these Pokemon as support:
One of these: (psychic type to eat fighting attacks)
• Slowbro
• Hypno
• Eggy
• Star

One of these: (Special wall since his special is awful)
• Slowbro
• Golduck
• Hypno
• Seadra
• Dewgong
• Victree
• Ninetales
• Star
• Zam
• Chansey
• Vaporeon
• Hypno
• Eggy
• All the birds

One of these: (physical wall since his def is awful)
• Sandslash
• Golem
• Slowbro
• Marowak
• Rhydon
• Lapras
• Snorlax
• Eggy
• Arty
• Molty

Slowbro, Hypno, Eggy, and Arty are all good partners for Raticate.

Ideal Team Core:

Raticate/Slowbro or Hypno/Eggy or Golduck or Seadra or Vaporeon (tanky in general)
Raticate/Star/Sandslash or one of the birds. (Sacs some bulcc for speedy Kos.)

Coverage mons

In team one (if not using eggy) you are super weak to grass, so you need a mon that resists grass. Good choices:
• Eggy, of course.
• Victree
• Vileplume, if you’re desperate.

You also have a glaring weakness to Electric. Obvious choices are:
• Jolteon
• Raichu
• Golem/Rhydon
• Sandslash/Nidoking/Nidoqueen/Marowak

After introducing these mons to your team you’ll have a weakness to ground. You could catch a flying type or something that resists ground (or just rely on your/another physical wall) Good choices are:
• Snorlax
• Dodrio
• Fearow
• All the legendary birds but esp Zapdos.

A team similar to Raticate/Slowbro/Vaporeon/Victree/Golem/Fearow will be pretty much untouchable in game and will render it impossible to get SEs on this team.

Important Matchups

• All you can do in Oak’s Lab is Tackle. Do it.
• Route 22 Rival will fall to Hyper Fang.
• Rattata with Hyper Fang solos Brock.
• (Assuming you have Raticate by now) Raticate will Solo Cerulean City Rival, even without Water Gun.
• You can’t outspeed Misty’s Star but Hyper Fang is so good early game it shouldn’t matter unless you get blasted by a crit.
• Raticate Solos the SS ANNE Rival.
• Unless, for some reason, you’re using Dig on Raticate, keep him out of Surge’s gym.
• Lavender Tower Rival should be alright unless you’re not using Tbolt and he has Gyarados.
• If you used BBeam on Raticate he’ll murder Rocket Hideout Giovanni. The only thing that stands a chance is Kanga, only because Comet Punch. A 5hit crit Comet Punch will kill Raticate. Its up to you if you wish to shoulder that risk.
• If you teach IB to Raticate then he will do fine in Erika’s gym but why would you waste that TM on Raticate? Let someone else take the spotlight.
• Keep Raticate out of Koga’s gym, don’t want a Weezing to blow up on you.
• Why would you even put Raticate in the Fighting Dojo.
• Unless Raticate has Hbeam and you’re a walking gen 1 damage calc, don’t throw Raticate in the Silph Co Rival fight.
• Silph Co Giovanni has a better team and a better moveset so Raticate should sit this one out.
• No self-respecting trainer will bring a Raticate to Sabrina’s gym unless they want him to die.
• Blaine’s gym will tear Raticate apart. A burn will render him completely useless.
• Raticate, funnily enough, can actually do well in Giovanni’s gym but a crit bslam will kill him so just don’t.
• Route 22 Rival will tear Raticate apart.
• Raticate should stay away from Lorelei.
• Please don’t.
• Unless you have Dig Agatha will murder your Raticate.
• There are too many Hbeams flying around in Lance’s fight. Don’t.
• Gambling with Raticate’s life just for a cool story against the Champion is irresponsible.
• Raticate is probably old and dying by the time you get to Mewtwo. Let him retire.

Your starter is Diglett.
I will be back in a few hours and I'll write your sheet up then.

Lrachelr5 September 9th, 2018 1:50 PM

Trainer Name: Lucy
Trainer Age: 21
Trainer Nature: Timid
Backstory: Lucy is very interested in archaeology and mythology from growing up in the Sinnoh Region so she has travelled to Kanto for exploration and learning. She wants to try and understand why Team Rocket would want to meddle in the creation of pokemon for personal gain and will stop them at all costs.
Personality: Lucy can be rather timid because of being more interested in her work than social interactions. However, she is fiercely loyal to her pokemon and will do whatever it takes to protect the once closest to her.

Ethmya September 9th, 2018 3:23 PM

Jonathan's character sheet was so easy as Dugtrio is a really simple PKMN with a really shallow, but effective, at least in the midgame, movepool. Here it is!

Jonathan

Trainer name: Jonathan
Trainer age: 21
Trainer nature: Sassy

Starter:
Diglett

Dugtrio should be taught:
• Dig
• Slash
• Earthquake
• Rock Slide
(these are subpar options)
• Sub
• Sand Attack

Dugtrio should be supported by:

One of these: (Flying type for grass coverage)
• Fearow
• Dodrio
• Gyarados
• Zapdos
• Arty

One of these: (Electric types to cover Dugtrio’s main weakness, water.)
• Jolteon
• Zapdos
• Raichu
• Magneton
• Electabuzz

One of these: (physical wall since his def is awful, like literally paper thin)
• Slowbro
• Lapras
• Snorlax
• Eggy
• Arty
• Molty
• Cloyster
• Kanga

One of these: (special wall since his special is awful as well lmao)
• Zam
• Hypno
• Gengar
• Chansey
• Slowbro
• Golduck
• Seadra
• Dewgong
• Ninetales
• Star
• Vaporeon
• Pretty much all the birds.

Ideal Team Core:

Dugtrio/Dodrio/Jolteon or Raichu/Slowbro or Snorlax/Alakazam
This team is perfect. With this team (which would be quite easy to get, barring Pikachu/Jolteon) nothing in game can SE this team.

Coverage mons
This team needs no additional coverage.

Important Matchups

• All you can do in Oak’s Lab is Scratch.
• Diglett can solo the Route 22 Rival but his defenses are garbage so you need to grind him up pretty high.
• Diglett can solo Brock.
• Diglett has really low defense so this first Rival battle, he should sit out.
• Diglett/Dugtrio will get mopped in Misty’s gym.
• A crit anywhere in SS Anne Rival will kill Diglett so pls don’t.
• Here he starts to pick up steam as he should be evolved. Dugtrio will 100% murder Surge’s gym.
• Lavender Tower Rival should mostly be alright, only since the Rival’s mons are straight garbage. Of course, avoid Gyarados, if he has it.
• Dugtrio murders Rocket Hideout Giovanni, except Kanga. A crit Comet Punch will kill. If he hits more than 3 times, once, you are in big trouble.
• There is no reason to bring Dugtrio into Erika’s gym.
• You may think about using Dugtrio in Koga’s gym, but unless you’re a higher level than the gym PKMN, Weezing will almost always take a Dig and blow up on you, which will kill.
• Dugtrio can solo the Fighting Dojo.
• Silph Co Rival has several PKMN that will give Dugtrio a hard time. Venusaur, Gyarados, and Blastoise.
• Dugtrio should finally be strong enough to solo Silph Co Giovanni.
• Dugtrio speed ties with Alakazam in Sabrina's gym so will have to outspeed in order to win. If he eats a Psychic, he is going to either die or be really hurt. Otherwise, barring really unlucky crits, Dugtrio should be fine.
• Dugtrio will always win in Blaine’s gym unless first burnt.
• Dugtrio will solo Giovanni’s gym.
• Route 22 Rival is the same as last. Avoid Gyarados, Venusaur, and Blastoise. Otherwise, he is alright.
• Please stay away from Lorelei.
• Machamp is dangerous and if he uses Submission it can kill.
• Dugtrio should be able to kill Agatha.
• Dugtrio is so frail and will be murdered by pretty much any strong move from any PKMN whose name isn’t Dragonair.
• It’s the exact same but worse this time.
• No.

Ethmya September 9th, 2018 5:42 PM

After a quick PM, Rachel and I decided to make her character narrative-wise a girl.
Your starter is Spearow.

James and Eevee September 9th, 2018 8:23 PM

This seems like some wacky good fun
Trainer Name: James
Trainer Age: 17, almost 18
Trainer Nature: Brave
Backstory: James ran away from his home in Johto a few years ago because his parents wouldn't allow him to become a Pokemon Trainer. He heard Professor Oak was giving away starter pokemon and today he woke up in Viridian City in the Pokemon Center. Guess it's time to start a journey.
Personality: Before battles will take time to plan for the fight, but sometimes forgets the plan in the heat of the moment. Somewhat funny(sometimes, be prepared for bad puns) and always tries to protect his friends, even if it gets homself hurt in the process.

I'll be playing FR or LG if that matters

EDIT: I also have no idea how to change the starters, so help with that would be nice XD

Ethmya September 9th, 2018 9:18 PM

This sheet was actually very hard! I realised I actually have never used Spearow in competitive nor in a challenge run in gen 1, so this is all theorycraft and speculation.

Lucy

Trainer name: Lucy
Trainer age: 21
Trainer nature: Timid
Backstory: Lucy is very interested in archaeology and mythology from growing up in the Sinnoh Region so she has traveled to Kanto for exploration and learning. She wants to try and understand why Team Rocket would want to meddle in the creation of Pokemon for personal gain and will stop them at all costs.
Personality: Lucy can be rather timid because of being more interested in her work than social interactions. However, she is fiercely loyal to her pokemon and will do whatever it takes to protect the ones closest to her.

Starter:
Spearow

Fearow should be taught:

Fearow has a terrible, terrible movepool thats just barely effective enough to drag him above “Beedrill tier”

• Drill Peck
• Double-Edge
• Hyper Beam
• Double Team
(these are subpar options)
• Sub?
• Fly?

Spearow is weird. He has no movepool, a garbage typing, and no stats, but opposing PKMN tend to be biased towards Special, not Defense. He's better than Pidgeot but worse than Dodrio.

Fearow should be supported by:

One of these: (A Ground type to take Electric attacks)
Golem
Rhydon
Sandslash
Marowak
Nidoking
Nidoqueen

One of these: (A Water type to eat Ice attacks)

Golduck
Slowbro
Seadra
Dewgong
Star
Vaporeon

One of these: (A physical wall. Most good physical walls in gen 1 are Ground type.)

Golem
Rhydon
Sandslash
Snorlax (in general while running with a Normal/Flying, you should be avoid normal types but Snorlax is just that good.

One of these: (A special wall.)

Zam
Eggy
Gengar
Hypno
Chansey (same thing that applies to Snorlax applies to Chansey)
Slowbro

Ideal Team core:
Fearow/Golem or Rhydon/Slowbro or Vaporeon/Snorlax/Zam or Hypno or Gengar

Important Matchups

• You have Peck in Oak's lab so you should be alright. If you manipulate the starter to have Bulbasaur you'll have an easier time later.
• Route 22 Rival will be a piece of cake as long as you level to his level.
• Spearow can solo Brock.
• Spearow's defenses are just barely high enough for the Cerulean City Rival.
• If evolved into Fearow, you can take on Misty's gym but if Starmie crits you are in big trouble. If Spearow isn't evolved yet, just keep him out this gym.
• Fearow has the stats to take on the SS Anne Rival.
• Fearow will get murdered by Surge's Raichu. gg no re.
• Pretty much always should be avoiding Gyarados from here in the Lavender Tower until the end of the game. Otherwise, you should be alright.
• Rocket Hideout Giovanni will really, really hurt Fearow.
• Fearow will murder Erika's gym.
• Koga's Weezing will murk Fearow if he blows up.
• Fearow can solo the Fighting Dojo.
• Silph Co Rival should be alright unless he has Gyarados.
• Fearow will get killed by Silph Giovanni.
• Fearow will get killed in Sabrina's gym.
• Unless you know exactly which PKMN have Fire Blast and which don't, Fearow doesn't belong in Blaine's gym.
• Fearow has big problems in Giovanni's gym.
• Fearow has been rendered obsolete by Route 22's Rival's team.
• Like everything in Lorelei's gym will 1hko Fearow.
• Bruno actually have PKMN with Rock moves, thats dangerous, stay away.
• As long as Fearow isn't sleeping, he should be alright against Agatha.
• Fearow has no place staring down Dragons.
• You really shouldn't.
• Even an Hbeam from a level 100 Fearow won't kill Mewtwo unless it crits.

Ethmya September 9th, 2018 9:25 PM

Cerulean Cave Mewtwo. (Not claimed)
Underground Path Nidoran (Not claimed) lmao i forgot about this one

Pretty sure thats all of them. Feel free to let me know if I missed anyone!

How do I claim PKMN?
Simply reply in this thread and say which only one PKMN you wish to claim.

What does it mean to claim a PKMN?
If you are the only one who claims a PKMN when you reach them, then they are yours.

What happens if more than one person claims an only one?
A dispute occurs.

What is a dispute?
A dispute is when more than one person claims a only one PKMN. If a dispute occurs, both trainers wait until they have access to the only one PKMN and battle for it. Of course, no faints are considered as deaths here. This can be done on Showdown very easily.

When do we start?
You can start now! <3

Disturb Not The Harmony September 9th, 2018 9:46 PM

Okay, first progress update.

EDIT: WHOOPS. Sorry, I was writing the update and didn't see the latest post. For what it's worth, I am deliberately not claiming any "only ones", so I shouldn't be interfering with anyone else's roster.

Update 1: From Pallet to Rock Tunnel
Spoiler:

Used a randomizer to change Bulbasaur to Rattata. I have a good reason for Bulbasaur in particular, namely that Charizard is the only Rival starter that can disable itself by locking itself into Rage. Blastoise is arguably worse than Gyarados and Venusaur, unlike Exeggutor, has STAB.

Rival is named... Rival. :P I figure the real name will be determined by the writer.

Got my L5 Rattata named Scrapper. Beat Rival legitimately by Tail Whip x2 + Tackle x 3 or so.

Go through the usual Oak's Parcel routine. Scrapper learns Quick Attack fighting against Bug Catchers. Nothing notable except for an awkward poisoning immediately cured by walking to the nearby Antidote. First encounter was a Kakuna, which I... um...

...caught by reflex rather than remembering it would clog a team slot. Oops. Um... at least I'm in character?

When heading back to Route 22 to hit the Rival after grinding to L13, I ran into an L3 Spearow on my first step into the grass. One PokeBall later, Griff joins the team. (Rival's Pokemon, incidentally, went down to two Quick Attacks each.)

Since training a Spearow was so easy in the Forest, I leveled Griff to L10 before the Gym.

Pewter Gym
Jr. Trainer: missed on first Hyper Fang, hit second. Hit both Hyper Fangs on Sandshrew. Healed afterwards and hit Brock.

Brock was... rather uncomfortable and rather close. Hyper Fang missed repeatedly on Geodude, and I ended up actually switching to Kakuna and Griff at points, if only to nullify Onix's Screeches on Scrapper. All ended up in single digits. Fortunately Screech also had abnormally bad accuracy, or I would have had to switch out even more, and that would have gotten even uglier.

That is the worst hit rate I have ever seen from a 90% move. I would have been in a... very awkward position if Geodude's AI hadn't had mercy and spammed Defense Curl after the first couple of turns. What even happened there?
end Pewter Gym

Between Hyper Fang and Screech, it seemed like any move that COULD miss did. That's still so weird.

Mt. Moon first encounter was a Zubat. I deliberately did NOT catch that.

I have only one Pokemon that can learn Water Gun, so Scrapper it is.

First encounter with a Rocket was handled via Hyper Fang. The second one went similarly. In fact, anything that wasn't handled with Water Gun went similarly, except for the Bug/Grass users who were gifted to Griff for EXP.

Kakuna finally evolved. Because Gen 1 is a masterpiece of game design, it didn't actually learn Fury Attack until L12.

The L16 Raticate Rocket... used Quick Attack on the first turn and immediately dropped to critical Hyper Fang. That was very satisfying. And, in a happy coincidence, Scrapper evolved into Raticate with the EXP from that battle.

Good grief, I literally just saw Hyper Fang miss, hit, and miss twice in a row. This is becoming a running joke. (That was against the Super Nerd guarding the fossils, by the way. Don't worry, nothing perished but my dignity.)

Took Dome Fossil because, memes aside, I've always liked Kabutops a lot more than Omanyte. If there should be a gameplay excuse, Gen 1 Slash hits 100% of the time if your base Speed is 65 or above. I'll probably not need the Fossil, though.

Cerulean Rival
Those two consecutive misses are captioned "at least I had Sand-Attack as an excuse this time".

That aside, I used Abra as an opportunity for free switches to cure Sand-Attack, and the rest of Rival's Pokemon dropped in one Hyper Fang each.
end Cerulean Rival

I went on to clear the rest of the bridge without healing, though I used Quick Attack on a few due to Hyper Fang's middling PP. The only time I missed was against the boy with a Mankey, which took the opportunity to take off about a third of Scrapper's HP with a critical Scratch. I'm beginning to think the game has a sense of humor about the misses.

Opted out of the first encounters for the two routes above Cerulean (Bellsprout and Metapod). Grass becomes painfully obsolete in E4 because Lorelei's Pokemon are Ice-type. Honestly, Gyarados would be better.

Cerulean Gym
Hyper Fang missed against Goldeen (and resulted in one self-attack from Supersonic that was immediately Potioned post-battle), but it missed against neither the Swimmer nor Misty herself. Thanks to her fabulous AI deciding to X Defend on Starmie's first turn, it dropped without getting a hit in. If not for a single Tackle from Staryu, I could have cleared her without any damage whatsoever. Oh, Gen 1. Never change.
end Cerulean Gym

The road to Vermillion went well. The obnoxious L20 Butterfree dropped in a single hit, which I only mention because the thing's given me trouble on other Nuzlockes and the OHKO was very satisfying.

I used Repels for a guaranteed catch in Diglett's Cave and... er... had a very interesting experience as the L29 Dugtrio proceeded to dodge 10 PokeBalls in a row. Griff blessedly soaked a Tackle before I threw the final ball that caught it. This may be the one time I've been grateful to be hit with multiple Sand-Attacks. Scrapper had 18/79 HP left by the end of it and Griff had 4/37.

East of Vermillion unfortunately failed to get a Drowzee as a first encounter (Spearow). I fish up Magic the Magikarp in Vermillion instead.

To add insult to injury, the next two three Pokemon I find while grinding there are Drowzees.

The only notable occurrence on the S.S. Anne is that Triad the Dugtrio got its first use in battle when Scrapper got hit by a Shellder's Supersonic on a switch-in and met its most terrible foe: itself. After failing the Confusion roll 3x and going down to 27/87 HP, I decided to throw up my hands and have Dugtrio finish the job.

S.S. Anne Rival
Hyper Fang-Hyper Fang, Hyper Fang, Hyper Fang, Hy- two consecutive misses AGAIN? Hyper Fang.
end S.S. Anne Rival

Beedrill did the first useful thing in its life when it learned Cut.

Vermillion Gym
Nope, there's only trash there.

In other words, I had an L29 Dugtrio. The trashcans took about as much time to solve as it took to fight the Trainers and Surge combined.
end Vermillion Gym

Thanks to the magic of constant Repels, I made it through Rock Tunnel without an actual encounter. Magic even obligingly evolved after the last Trainer battle of Rock Tunnel for a nice finish to this play session.

Team Plans:
Spoiler:

Current party:
Scrapper L35 Raticate
Magic L20 Magikarp
BEEDRILL L12 Beedrill
Triad L30 Dugtrio
Griff L18 Spearow

There's an interesting little issue in Red/Blue called "Lt. Surge is the only significant Trainer that remembers to use Electric-type attacks". Gyarados, which can get BoltBeam coverage via TM, is stupidly OP for this reason. I can also run two Flying types for the same reason.

I plan something like Raticate/Fearow/Dugtrio/(unknown Psychic)/Gyarados for this reason. I can fit another Pokemon if Beedrill has an... unfortunate accident... but that's not necessary. I know I can Repel for L37 Slowbro in Seafoam Islands if I have to do so.

(I will not have any unfortunate accidents just to wipe it out. However, if I need to suicide a Pokemon for a safe switch-in on a more valuable Pokemon, it is currently the leading candidate.)

If Beedrill keels over, Gastly is the likely replacement.

After a few PMs James is now part of the locke!
James, your starter is Nidoran. Lucky you, you get to pick which one!

Lrachelr5 September 10th, 2018 7:56 AM

I just noticed that my team construction thingy only gave me five slots, is that meant to happen or should I have been given the options about my 6th team member

Ethmya September 10th, 2018 8:08 AM

You can fill the sixth, I just had no recommendation for that slot so I left it empty. A lot of times in nuzlockes you want to run teams of 4-5 instead of 6 anyway.

L'Belle September 10th, 2018 8:47 AM

This seems too fun, am I too late? :( This always happens lmao.

Ethmya September 10th, 2018 8:49 AM

Not at all! Theres five of us already but only one of us has started. Feel free to submit your character! <3

Will be using Nidoran Male if you need to know that, I also will have an update up later

Update One
Spoiler:

Seeing as I can't randomise my starters I was allowed to use Squrtile until I caught Maleficent the Spearow after doing the Oak delivery. I caught Evie the Nidoran female seeing as Maleficent was meant to be my starter I didn't count it as my Route 22 encounter. I thought I was going to make it through Viridian Forest without any encounters but I ended up with Dizzy the Metapod who I began to switch train. Made it to Pewter City and then did a lot of grinding, managed to beat Brock with Maleficent by first spamming leer and growl when he would go for bide then attacked with peck. Headed on to Mount Moon and caught Jay the Geodude and started training him as I continued on. Managed to beat my rival Cameron near Nugget Bridge and lost Dizzy to a double crit Karate Chop from a Mankey on Nugget Bridge. Then managed to catch an Abra cause I am determined to use one on my team and named it Florian before heading to Bill's house using the trainers to train up Florian. Decided to also evolve Evie into Nidoqueen at level 16 because I value having body slam over bite given what my team will be. After helping Bill I decided that this would be the time to stop before I finish training Florian to evolve and then take on Misty's gym.

Just some news real quick before I post my first update:
Unfortunately, I dropped my laptop and broke the monitor. This isn't a big deal as I have a desktop, but I may get things out slower until it is fixed in about 3-4 days. I also won't have any of my footage, which is a shame, because I had some fun gifs and images, but I'll edit them in later.

Note, this is not the narrative, merely the exact things that happened to me in game.

The First Update:
Spoiler:
After waking up, grabbing the pot from the PC, and talking to mum, I tried to leave Pallet Town and Oak stopped me. I went into his lab, picked up my Caterpie, named her Anartia, and manipulated Blue into taking Squr. This was mostly because he has the lowest attack stat of the three and I don't want to deal with Charizard later if I'm rocking the Pie.
I beat him legit after several attempts.

After leaving the Lab, I was forced to train Anartia to level TEN on Route 1 simply because she was so weak. After hitting 10 (and then 11!) in Route 1, I went and progressed the main story.

I took the custom ball to Oak and he gave me a Pokedex. I then went and grabbed the Town Map, not really because I don't know Kanto but because there are no Route/City notifications so I wanted to make sure of my encounter Routes, some of them are really close.

Bought some Pokeballs, went to Route 1, encountered Ratatta. passed.
Went to Route 2, encountered Caterpie and then Ratatta. Passed.
Went to Viridian Forest, was hoping for Pikachu, got Metapod instead.
Went to Route 22, got Spearow, thought about it for a second, then remembered the analysis I did for Lucy and passed, lmao.

Fought Route 22 Rival and embarrassed him.

Went through Viridian Forest with no problems.

Mopped up Brock, no problems.

Almost got killed by that level 14 Spearow, but otherwise, no problems.

Bought the Magikarp at the Route 4 Pokecenter, named him Leviathan.

Trained Leviathan to 10 and caught a Geodude. Named him Seism.

Trained Seism to 10 very easily and gave him the Mega Punch TM.

I forgot/didn't know that the Bellsprout belonging to the trainer in F1 actually knew any Grass moves, let alone goddamn Vine Whip and switched Leviathan into it who was promptly sucked entirely dry. R.I.P

Embarrassed the Team Rocket Grunt with the Raticate and moved through MT. Moon with no further problems. Took Kabuto's fossil but will probably never use it.

Was hoping for a Sandshrew, got Ratatta. Passed ofc.

Embarrassed Blue again in Cerulean City.

Completed the Nugget Bridge with no problems.

"I saw your feat from the grass!"

Was hoping for Abra, got Bellsprout. Passed. In retrospect I should have taken it but I really hate Victree's design lmaoo

Was hoping AGAIN for Abra but got the sprout instead.

Tricked the trainer in front of Seismic Toss and copped it early.

Laughed at Bill's stupidity but saved him anyway.

Got Dig from the Grunt.

Went ahead and did Misty, almost lost Anartia to a crit BBeam while she slept Starmie but she hung on with 9HP, scared the shit out of me.

Started the trek to Vermillion.

Got to Vermillion with no problems. Gets the Old Rod and the Bike Voucher. Catches a Magikarp, named him Levi-II. Promptly put him in the Day Care Center so my incompetence doesn't get another Magikarp killed.

Went into Diglett Cave and caught a Diglett. Named him Scalopus. At this time Anartia and Seism are about level 30 each.

Took a bunch of potshots at various Digletts and would switch when they used Dig. Level Scal up to 23, was going to leave at 25 and continue. Level 20 Diglett Critscratches Scal and he promptly forgets how to breathe. R.I.P

Okay so that's two down. I leave and go right and hope to find Sandshrew/Hypno. I don't remember what I got but it wasn't them. I'll check and update when I get my computer back.

I clear out this route and check around for hidden items. Why does this tree have an Escape Rope on it?

Go to the next route and remember theres nothing there yet. Go back to Vermillion, enters the SS Anne. Plugs around, beating sailors up and whatnot until an NPC says something that shakes me to the core.

"I LIKE FEISTY KIDS LIKE YOU." That's defo going in the narrative lmaoo.

I teach Bslam to Seism, clear out the SS Anne and easily beat the Rival. I get Cut from the Captain and leave.

With that, I thought that was a good place to stop.

The Team:
Spoiler:
Anartia the Butterfree. Level 35.
Seism the Graveller. Level 34.
Levi-II. Level 12.

The Graveyard:
Spoiler:
Leviathan the Magikarp. Level 10.
Scalopus the Diglett. Level 23.

The Plan:
Spoiler:
Catching Slowpoke is pretty likely so I'll probably be able to do that. I was hoping for Pikachu so I didn't have to claim the Eevee but I got Geodude who covers Electric so I'm no longer claiming Eevee.
Wanted mons: Slowbro.
Current 'fodder' mon: Magikarp

FFR, 'fodder' mon is the mon I'm most willing to sacrifice for a free switch as a last resort. I will never fodder my team core, which is Butterfree/Golem/Slowbro, which makes Magi/Gyara the fodder mon by default.

Thank you for letting me participate.

Trainer name - Crystal
Trainer age - 17
Trainer nature - Naive
Backstory (Short, 2 sentences-1 paragraph. Where has your character been, where are they going, and why are they going there?)
Crystal isn't really excited about being a pokemon trainer. Her parents believe shes quite vain and would like her to lose that quality. She believes becoming a pokemon trainer is beneath her. But will give it her all(in an attempt to prove her parents wrong) for a little bit at least. Maybe she'll find something she enjoys about pokemon later.(pokemon contests/coordinator)
Personality (Short, 2 sentences-1 paragraph. A concise, crash course detailing your character's personality. A list of adjectives is acceptable.
Vain, self adsorbed, Naive, Dense, Obtuse, believes shes perfect in every way.

Ethmya September 11th, 2018 9:05 PM

Alright, I've got my monitor fixed.
Brew, your starter is Vulpix.
I'll have James' and Brew's sheets done tonight!

Ethmya September 11th, 2018 9:18 PM

Hello everyone!
You may have noticed that in the initial post, there is a new section detailing the rivalries between the characters. Here is what that means, exactly.
Rivalries are kind of competitions within the challenge. You should strive to outperform your rival. These performance feats are what are tracked:
  • Evolving a PKMN
  • Getting a PKMN to level 50
  • Completing the Main Challenge
  • Completing the Post Challenge
  • Keeping your Starter alive throughout the Main Challenge
  • Keeping your Starter alive throughout the Post Challenge
  • Capturing a Legendary PKMN
These feats all gain points. Performing poorly will cost you points.
There may be events where you get to compete directly against your Rival! There may be rewards if you participate in these...

For the purposes of the narrative, your characters will meet early in the story and form a relationship. It does not necessarily have to be a competitive/negative one, but they will be linked very early on. It will be up to you to choose how the relationship with your rival forms. This is all intended to increase interactivity with the challenge and the overarching narrative. I hope you enjoy this new layer of participation!

James:

Trainer name: James
Trainer age: 17
Trainer nature: Brave
Backstory:
James ran away from his home in Johto a few years ago because his parents wouldn't allow him to become a Pokemon Trainer. He heard Professor Oak was giving away starter pokemon and today he woke up in Viridian City in the Pokemon Center. Guess it's time to start a journey.
Personality:
Before battles will take time to plan for the fight, but sometimes forgets the plan in the heat of the moment. He is moderately funny, is a lover of bad puns, and always tries to protect his friends, even if it gets himself hurt in the process.

Starter:
Nidoran Male.

Nidoking should be taught:
• Horn Attack
• Ice Beam
• Thunderbolt
• Earthquake
• Body Slam
• Thrash, although this is a subpar option.

Nidoking should have these Pokemon as support:

One of these: (A birb or grass type to dodge ground attacks)
• Fearow
• Dodrio
• Any of the legendary birds.
• Vileplume
• Victreebell
• Eggy
• Scyther
• Gyarados
• Aero
• Dnite
One of these: (A good water type to soak those Surfs up)
• Slowbro
• Star
• Golduck
• Seadra
• Lapras
• Gyarados
• Vaporeon
• Chansey (just because shes so good in general at eating special attacks)
One of these: (A good psychic type to eat those Psychics, assuming you aren’t using Slowbro/Star)
• Slowbro, ofc
• Zam
• Hypno
• Chansey, for reasons stated above
• Eggy
• Star

Ideal teams:
Nidoking/Dodrio or Fearow/Golduck or Seadra/Zam or Hypno
Nidoking/Dodrio/Slowbro or Starmie

This team needs no further coverage.

Important match ups:

1. Oaks Lab Rival: You got nothing but your starting attacking move and Leer. Compensate with Leer when Blue reduces your stats, and just wail away.
2. If you level to Horn Attack you should have no issue with the Route 22 Rival.
3. Spam Leer to -3, Horn Attack. Don’t attack during Bides.
4. Nidorino and the King will be just fine with everything that isn’t Hyper Fang.
5. Nido is 1hko’d by BBeam.
6. Nidoking can sweep the SS Anne Rival, not including Kadabra.
7. You should not worry about Surge’s gym, only thing you fear is Sonicboom.
8) Gyarados has Hydro Pump now. Kadabra and Gyara are off limits.
9) Rocket Hideout Gio should pose no problem.
10) Avoid Erkia’s gym unless you know exactly who does and doesn’t have Razor Leaf.
11) Nidoking should be able to tank an Explosion from Weezing, although depending on your level, this is not 100% sure. Be careful.
12) Nidoking solos the Fighting Dojo.
13) More of the same as before for the Silph Co Rival.
14) More of the same as before for Silph Co Giovanni.
15) Nidoking has no business in Sabrina’s gym.
16) Nido is mostly fine in this gym but unless you know exactly what has Fire Blast you should be very careful, it really hurts Nido and he is going to seriously struggle if burnt.
17) Nido should sweep Gio’s gym.
18) Rival’s team on Route 22 is pretty strong and has poor type matchups for the King.
19) Why would you bring King to fight Lorelei?
20) King solos Bruno.
21) Unless asleep, King solos Agatha. If he is put to sleep, you should immediately switch.
22) Lance’s Gyarados should be avoided due to lil Pump, Aero due to his insane crit ratio.
23) The Champion Battle is the same, just more of it.
24) No.

James and Eevee September 12th, 2018 1:44 PM

Wow, so, first update, almost already lost, but we still kicking bois.
Story:
Spoiler:
Nuzlocke Log #1: Days 1-5
So, hi, my name is James, and this is the start of my nuzlocke journey in Kanto. Mainly because the world is whack. If you haven't heard yet, Kanto has been 'Nuzlockified' by Arceus because he got bored, so now pokemon don't faint, they straight-up die. So yeah, bad news for all of Kanto, and especially me.
Day 1: Deaths: 0
So today I started out on my journey, because I had to deliver a parcel to Professor Oak, because that was my job before I started, a mailman, to save up a bit of money.
Oak said he would pick a starter that would match my personality, and he picked Nidoran-M for me. His grandson, who called himself Z (I think it's short for Zach) challenged me to a battle which Nidoran easily won(He had a Squirtle btw). So me and KingSize(the Nidoran's new name) headed back over to Viridian City and stayed there for the night.
Day 2: Deaths: 0
So today KingSize and I went out to find some more friends. On Route 1 we caught a Rattata(Rayt). On Route 22 we caught a Spearow(Sweater) while also trying to avoid Z because I didn't feel like fighting him. We then caught a Weedle(Needler) on Route 2.
After that, we trained up a little(and Needler evolved into a Kakuna) and then went to go find Z on Route 22. All he added to his team was a Pidgey, and Sweater was easily able to deal with it while KingSize dealt with the Squrtle again. Z also seems to be immune to this Nuzlocke curse on the region, hmm... Anyway, after we beat him, it was time for another rest in Viridian city for the night.
Day 3: Deaths: 0
So, we're finally leaving Viridian City, after double-checking that the gym leader was actually out, cause that would have been embarrassing. So we went through Route 2 and entered Viridian Forest. I never want to go to that place again. It was horrible. Also, our first encounter was a Pikachu, but Needler accidentally killed it by Poisoning it. Rip Pikachu. Anyway, we finally got through all the bugs and bugcatchers who owned them while I gained a few Potions and an Antidote(the only good part about the forest). So, we finally made it to Pewter City, and, seeing how late it was, we decided to wait until the morning to prepare for and fight our next gym battle.
Day 4: Deaths: 0
So, the first gym leader. To prepare, we went over strategies that Brock normally uses: Defense Curl and Bide. To beat defense curl, we needed to just power through it while using Potions as needed. To beat the Onix though, we would need an actual strategy. I decided it would be best to just use defense/speed lowering moves while the Onix was biding. The money we had was enough to buy four measly potions, so we had a total of five to work with.
Walking into the gym, I was nervous, and my pokemon were too. We challenged Brock, and he simply said, "I will be using two pokemon, and you may use as many as you like. Begin." And with that, he threw out his geodude on the field. I sent out Needler, and we easily beat the geodude by Poisoning it. After he sent out his Onix, I switched out Needler for Rayt. Rayt went with our plan, Tail Whipping the Onix to Kingdom Come, luckily it didn't seem to have Defense Curl lile the Geodude, but something was off. The Onix seemed to be faster than Rayt, and I knew Rayt was faster than KingSize, who I had planned to switch in and easily defeat this thing with a few attacks. I told Rayt to be careful and start attacking the Onix. It took a couple tackles, from what I could tell it took about half its health, while the Onix did nothing. I was suspicious, but there was nothing we could really do except keep attacking. I told Rayt to attack again, and that's when it happened. Brock uttered one word, "BIDE!" and the Onix' tail whipped around its body and slapped Rayt out through the ceiling.
I was so stunned. One move, and Rayt was gone. Just like that. My mind raced on what we should do next. I couldn't send out KingSize right now, it still has too much health and is definitely faster. That would be suicide. So I sent out Needler. I told him to String Shot with the Onix seemed to be going for another Bide. The Onix released the Bide, and nothing happened since we hadn't attacked it. Then I told Needler to go for Poison Sting and it missed. Brock told the Onix to go for Tackle. It missed. Phew. Needler went for another Poison Sting, and it landed and Poisoned. Yes! We got this! But fate must have heard me and not liked me that day, because Brock called for Onix to release another Bide and my heart stopped. Whap! Needler was sent flying into a wall. I don't think he lived that. But his Poison saved us because one Horn Attack from KingSize was enough to finish off the Onix. Then Brock said, "You have done well to defeat me. You have earned the BoulderBadge. You have also earned this TM. It contains Bide."
Day 5: Deaths: 2
We mourned our great losses in yesterday's battle.

The team:
Spoiler:
KingSize the Nidoran-M
-Horn Attack
-Tackle
-Leer

Sweater the Spearow
-Peck
-Leer
-Sand Attack(I think)

RIP:
Needler the Kakuna
Rayt the Rattata

So yeah, finally finished part one. Cya next time :)

  1. It should be obvious what to do in Oak's Lab by now.
  2. You should have a switch in just in case Route 22's Rival Sand Attacks you to the point that you cant hit anything.
  3. Ember outdamages everything Brock has and he has no SE moves so you're fine.
  4. As long as the Cerulean City Rival doesn't have Squritile, Vulpix will solo him.
  5. There is no reason to try to get Ninetales to solo Misty's gym.
  6. Again, on the SS Anne Rival, just avoid Wartortle, and you'll be alright.
  7. Ninetales can solo Surge's gym assuming no crits ever happen, which they probably will, so have a switch in ready.
  8. Same as before for the Lavender Tower Rival.
  9. A 5hitcrit Fury Swipes will kill Ninetales from like 75% health so you probably should have someone else fight Rocket Hideout's Giovanni.
  10. Remember to bring healing items into Erika's gym and use them after every battle and Ninetales should be alright.
  11. A Sludge to Explosion from anything in Koga's gym will kill Ninetales, and an Explosion alone will kill from about 85%, so maybe avoid having Ninetales out all the time here.
  12. Ninetales solos the Fighting Dojo.
  13. If you're around level 50 by Silph Co Rival, then Ninetales will be able to tank almost everything the Rival has here, but still, be careful.
  14. You should be staying away from Gio's Ground types by now, they have more powerful moves and you are weak to Ground.
  15. Ninetales can burn everything in Sabrina's gym to death besides Alakazam.
  16. You're a Fire type in a Fire gym so you'll be alright, but you have a better mon for the job by now, hopefully. Make sure to teach Fire Blast to Ninetales after you win.
  17. You are not Charizard and do not resist Ground, so you have no place in Gio's gym.
  18. If you picked Blastoise he has Hydro Pump by Route 22, and Alakazam always knows Psychic. Otherwise, Ninetales should be able to carry you through this fight if she has a good moveset.
  19. If these mons didn't have Surf and didn't have Amnesia you'd be fine, but they do, so Ninetales should stay away from Lorelei.
  20. Ninetales solos Bruno, even though Onix has Rock Throw, his stats are awful. If you are feeling careful, switch out when Onix appears.
  21. Nothing Agatha has can touch Ninetales while she is alive.
  22. Lance has Pokemon that Ninetales should not be facing, so let someone else take the spotlight there.
  23. Ninetales has PKMN in the Champion battle that she can stand up to, but many of them have moves that will really hurt.
  24. Ninetales can indeed stand up to Mewtwo but not for long. KO or catch or run from him the moment things go south.

I guess it's time to post an update.
Spoiler:

Day 0.
Today started off just splendid... I got in a fight with my mother again about the same old stuff. She wants me to become a pokemon trainer... She knows I don't really have an interest in becoming a pokemon trainer. So much traveling, and walking around chasing random creatures that you're not even guaranteed to catch... Oh and that pokedex.... Can't the old 'pokemon researcher' research his own pokemon? Why does he have to nag young people like myself to do it.
Day 1.
I left the house today because I was tired of fighting. If my mother likes pokemon so much, she should become the pokemon trainer. Why is it my job.... BUT FINE.
I went to the old geezers lab and recieved a pokemon. It's a Vulpix, I thought that name was kind of boring, plus why would I want to get used to calling it Vulpix only for it to evolve later? The old fool told me my Vulpix was a girl. How he knows I don't want to know...
I renamed her Vulliby. Surprisingly she seemed to like the name.
This other trainer was there as well. He wanted to battle, what a moron. His only pokemon was a grass type.... Yeah the battle was quick. I told him to leave me alone and walked out with his money.
Day 2.
I got a phone call from Oak, he thinks just because he gave me a pokemon that I'll run him an errand? To add to it, he said he won't give me a pokedex if I don't get this for him... Wow... Old people are the worst.
I went and got this weird thing from the next town and went back avoiding all the people out and about along the way. Why would I want to talk with them?
I delivered it to the old geezer, only to have that weird kid walk in again. He said something I don't know what and walked off. Finally I got my pokedex.
Day 3.
I went towards the pokemon league.. A Nidoran male attacked me.. So I caught it, I named it Monstar.
Just as I'm about to leave.. That weird kid appeared again he must be following me around. He talked for what seemed like hours. I told Vulliby to attack and she left him in ruin. I just walked off with Vulliby and his money.
As we were going to Pewter City, my Nidoran evolved into a Nidorino. He's fat and not cute anymore. Whatever I have Vulliby for the cuteness I guess.
Day 4.
I made it to Pewter city.
First thing I did is go straight to the gym to challenge the leader.
This guy had his shift off, what is wrong with people. We battled, Vulliby took out his first pokemon. He sent out this weird rock-snake thing. I told him to give up but he attacked Vulliby. Made me a little upset he'd risk hurting her. I sent out Nidorino, and completely ruined his rock-snake. Apparently it's called an Onix.. Who cares. He gave me my badge and I walked out of his gym. Had no interest in further conversation with someone who thinks he's all that.
P.S. I'm actually starting to like Vulliby. Shes grown on me a little bit. At night when I'm forced to sleep NOT IN A BED. She curls up next to me in my sleepingbag and we both stay warm.
I won't dare try that with Nidorino, not only is he fat and ugly. But he has horns that are very pokey...

I don't really have a plan yet. We'll see what happens.

Update: I have made a mistake. This is why you read the rules people. I did not realize their was a rule against using items in battle, so I have reset to before fighting Brock to fight him again. I did not lose any mons this time, but, as payment for my messup, I have decided to forfeit the mons who originally died. Let this be a warning to you all.

Ethmya September 13th, 2018 12:54 PM

Quick update, after lots of rumination, Master Ball is now banned.
If you’ve somehow already used it, that is fine, but from now on, it is banned.

Posting this for Brew exactly as it was written as their account still needs messages approved by a mod before posting.

My computer has crashed. Thankfully I backed up my save file, but it will be a bit before I am able to write a full update or play more.
So, slight update is I have finished up Mt. Moon with 0 new deaths. See ya next time folks

Brewmaster September 14th, 2018 6:50 PM

Prolly should update #2 again I guess?
Two gyms down, nearly wiped on the lv 20 slowpoke before bill due to rng confusion and forgetting that mon doesn't know/use water attacks.
But here it goes.
(I'm actually further than this update says as I'm on my way to Rock tunnel)

Spoiler:
Shortly after beating Brock.
I'm going to take a break now. I deserve it.
I'm going to enjoyed my time with Vulliby. The rest of my pokemon I keep at the pokecenter with the Nurse. Why should I have to take care of so many?

One week later.
I woke up this morning with my phone ringing. The 'professor' if you can call him that... Decided to call me at 8 am and ask me why I hadn't caught anymore pokemon.
What's wrong with people, don't they like sleep?

Couple hours later~
I kept getting forced to battle as I was going to Mt. Moon. These people aren't worth my time. I just sent out Vulliby and she took care of all of them.
I got into Mt Moon and this dumb girl decided to tell me 'Dangerous people about'.
I told her. 'Yeah I'm one of them, out of my way'.
Shortly after that, I came across a Geodude. Decided to catch it to get the professor off my back. I named it SoftPillow, in hopes the professor one day will mistake it for a pillow. As I was getting near the exit of Mt. Moon, these weird people decided to block my path. I didn't even say a word to them, just sent out SoftPillow and walked off. He took care of them by himself.

Few days later.
I caught an Oddish, I named it Strawberry, it's now a Gloom.
SoftPillow evolved. Though sometimes I believe it needs glasses with as often as it misses 'Rock Throw'... How hard is it to throw a rock? Stupid thing.
As I was relaxing in Cerulean city. This trainer with the most dopy pokemon I've ever seen wanted to battle. It was pink and had this 'where am I look'. I had no interest in battling something so dopy-looking so I sent out Iwillsaveu. The trainer told her pokemon to use confusion, Iwillsaveu then ran into a bolder... Stupid pokemon why would you run into a bolder. I recalled it and sent out Vulliby. I told Vulliby to use quick attack and the trainer's pokemon couldn't keep up. Vulliby won easily.
Apparently the Cerulean gym leader was watching. She said I need to take care of my ratatta. She didn't deserve a response. Apparently that upset her and she demanded I challenge her gym so she can 'put me in my place'. I just ignored her. I like it in Cerulean, there is a whole mountain between me and my mother. I'll stay here for awhile.
I'll even keep all my pokemon with me. Well everyone except Iwillsaveu.
The Nurse at the pokemon center says there is nothing she can do for it. I took it back and had SoftPillow dig a hole for it. Never really liked it anyway, it's was a rat.

I'm actually a bit further than this update write up says.
I just beat Erika and I'm now waiting for the contest of the Eevee with James and Eevee.
However that works.
But that'll prolly be taken care of by the time my post gets approved so....

Edit - Oh no more post approval. yay?

James and Eevee September 15th, 2018 4:44 PM

Well, I tried to send this, but my computer was offline lol. So let's try this again, Enter Part 2
Story:
Spoiler:
Part 2: Days 6-10
Day 6. Deaths: 2
So, starting out, Route 3 was horrible. There were so many trainers. Thankfully, by the time I made it to the tall grass, KingSize and Sweater had been able to take most of them out. My encounter was a Jigglypuff, who I caught and named Pastry. I managed to get to the Mt. Moon Poke center before it got to dark, and crashed there for the night.
Days 7-8. Deaths: 2
Mt. Moon's first encounter for me was the one Pokemon it's infamous for, Zubat. I caught him and named him Alucard. Then, I ran into these people who called themselves 'Team Rocket' I was nervous because I knew of the bad reputation they had, but I beat them handily with the help of the newly acquired Alucard. We found something called a Moon Stone, and then a guy in the cave gave us another one and said that they are used to evolve certain Pokemon, and that KingSize, who had evolved into a Nidorino by then, and Pastry were two such Pokemon. After that, we beat a 'Super Nerd' and he gave me a choice between two rocks to take with me. I decided to take the one with a swirly shell on the side, and went on my way. I left the Mountain, and entered Route 4. We accidentally killed our encounter there, which was an Ekans. And then we eventually made it to Cerulean City, where we stayed the night.
Day 9. Deaths: 2, Killed Encounters: 1
After being turned away by the attendant who said it was Misty's day off, I decided to go to the Cape. On the bridge to get to Route 24, I met Z again and beat him easily with Sweater, who evolved into a Fearow after the battle. After that, I beat the Nugget Bridge Challenge, got a Nugget for my troubles, and then beat the Team Rocket member who gave it to me. After that I got and caught my encounter, which was an Abra I named Houdini. I accidentally killed my Route 25 encounter, which was an Oddish, then beat the jungle of trainers on Route 25. The Cape had a beautiful view, and a cottage. Inside, I met a talking Clefairy that was looking for a Moon Stone so that he could evolve. I gave him one of mine, and after he evolved, he gave me a Ticket to the Cruise liner "S.S.Anne." I made my way back to Cerulean, and slept in the Pokemon Center.
Day 10. Deaths: 2, Killed Encounters: 2
Before we left to go to the gym, I used the Moon Stone on KingSize to evolve him into a Nidoking, and also taught him Mega Punch. But when we got to the gym, I realized that preparation was all in vain, because Misty was a Water type gym leader. So I lead with Alucard, and beat her Staryu easily using a combo of Confuse Ray and Leech Life. Then, she sent out her Starmie, so I switched into my other Flying type, Sweater. One, two, and three Pecks later, and her Starmie was down. I won with no deaths! She awarded me with the Cascade Badge and TM11 BubbleBeam.

The Team:
Spoiler:
KingSize, the lvl 22 Nidoking
- Horn Attack
- Mega Punch
- Poison Sting
- Tackle
Sweater, the lvl 23 Fearow
- Peck
- Leer
- Growl
- Fury Attack
Pastry, the lvl 22 Jigglypuff
- Pound
- Water Gun
- Thunder Wave
- Sing
Alucard, the lvl 22 Golbat(evolved after the gym battle)
- Bite
- Leech Life
- Supersonic
- Confuse Ray
Houdini, the lvl 14 Abra(still in training)
- Teleport

Graveyard:
Spoiler:
Needler the Kakuna

Also, I rescind my claim on the Celadon City Eevee, so Crystal can continue her journey, and claim the Silph Co. Lapras instead.
That's all for now, see ya later

The Second Update:
Spoiler:
Alright, so after hopping off the SS Anne I went and picked up Levi-II, who was level 15. He, obviously, knew Tackle, but Magikarp is so weak that I decided that he still should be switch trained. Off to Diglett Cave!

After getting to Diglett Cave I had Anartia switch train Leviathan to level 20 before picking up the Old Amber in Pewter, just in case I got desperate.

I realized I had no one who knew Cut in order to get into Surge's gym, so I poked around until I found a Sandshrew.

Note: This Sandshrew is not part of the team as I already encountered someone on his route. He was immediately fainted as to render him useless in battle and is only used to Cut trees.

After getting Sandshrew I made a mockery of Lt. Surge's gym, mostly due to Seism having an Electric immunity.

After going back to the PKMN Centre, I left and started on my way to Rock Tunnel. I avoided the Route 10 encounter so I could come back and fish for Slowpoke later.

I healed up and went into Rock Tunnel, blind. I decided that if I stuck to the walls, I would eventually find my way out, and after a few failed attempts, I finally did. While in Rock Tunnel Levi-II decided now would be a good time to evolve, and I had a Gyarados on my hands.

Emerging in Lavender Town, I skipped the trainers outside of Rock Tunnel and immediately went to heal as the team was hurting. After healing, I went back and defeated them. I spent a few minutes planning exactly what my next few moves were, in order to make the most out of my TMs and upcoming encounters, since as soon as I got to Celadon, the whole game opens up.

I picked up Swift from the mourning trainer, although I was sure I wouldn't need it, went back to Lavender Town and then west to the next route, hoping for a Sandshrew to replace this HM slave with, although I got a Ratatta instead, which I passed on.

Interesting ramifications regarding dragging around this Sandshrew include:
  • I am, in essence, carrying the corpse of a Sandshrew around in order to proceed.
  • I can't box and release the Shrew since I have no encounters and I need Cut to proceed.
  • I can't capture a sixth PKMN until I replace Sandshrew as that would mean I would have to box him when I caught him. If I boxed the Sandshrew instead, next time I needed Cut, I would have to kill a Pokémon in order to switch Sandshrew in, as I can't box living mons.
In essence, I'm stuck with this Sandshrew until I can replace it with a first encounter mon that knows cut. Spoiler alert: never happens.

Anyway, I finished off all the trainers here with Leviathan, and he hit level 30.

After making it to Celadon, my route changed significantly from the standard route, as I wanted to get my current team 100% kitted with good moves. I sprinted to the Celadon Dept store and ran up to the roof, and obtained Rock Slide and Ice Beam from the thirsty girl. I got another drink and gave it to the guards so I could get Psychic for Anartia.

After obtaining Psychic I used 3 Rare Candies to get Seism to 36 so he could learn EQ. With his set being EQ, RS, BSLAM, and Defense Curl, it was looking pretty good. After thinking about his fourth slot, I decided to put Strength on him, only because he needed a fourth move and I didn't wanna grind the Celadon Game Corner for Sub, nor was I putting a boom move on him. In order to do this as quickly as possible, I bought a Poke Doll from the Celadon Dept Store and made my way back to Lavender Town.

Upon entering the Lavender Tower, Blue jumped me, of course. He was probably mourning his Raticate who Anartia mind crushed on the SS Anne, lmao.

I popped a Super Repel so I wouldnt get any encounters in case I wanted Gastly later, which I doubted, but it was just to be safe.

I made my way through the Lavender Tower and saved Mr. Fuji. After getting the Poke Flute I went west of Celadon and awakened the Snorlax, which I actually caught. I named him Melursus, after the real life SLOTH BEAR. I went through Cycling Road to Fuschia, and into the Safari Zone.

I wasn't 100% sure how the Safari Zone worked, but I knew I could get Slowpoke from here so I tread carefully. I don't remember if I popped a Super Repel (and dont feel like rummaging through my footage to find out) but I do remember I didn't get any encounters, which wouldn't have mattered anyway, as I got Slowpoke somewhere else anyway. I got the Gold Teeth and Surf while I was there and let the step timer run out so I could give the Warden his Gold Teeth and get Strength.

I got Strength from the Warden, and then realised something, Gyarados gets Strength.

I decided to give Leviathan Strength, as his atk value was higher than Seism's and neither of them get STAB.

I then sold everything I didn't need and bought coins because I guess I have to run Sub now on Golem.

A century later I emerged with Sub and Hbeam for Levi. I also put Tbolt and Surf on Levi so he can get some coverage moves. I then put IB on Mello since I decided he would run a special set. At this point, my team had a really good movepool, consisting of:

Anartia (Butterfree) (Perfect set)
Level: 34
- Psychic
- Supersonic
- Sleep Powder
- Stun Spore

Levi-II (Gyarados) (Good set, not sure what I would have put on him if not Strength tho)
Level: 31
- Surf
- Thunderbolt
- Hyper Beam
- Strength

Seism (Golem) (Perfect set, would use a boom move over Sub in comp though)
Level: 40
- Earthquake
- Rock Slide
- Body Slam
- Substitute

Snorlax (Really good set.)
Level: 30
- Amnesia
- Ice Beam
- Surf
- Rest

So now that the move pool was all filled up and my mons were swimming in it, I decided to forward the story.

I literally walked through the Rocket Hideout and sneezed on Gio and he gave up.

I decided to grab Leviathan some more EXP and had him solo the Fighting Dojo, which he did very easily.

I cleared out the trainers on both sides of Fuchsia with minimal problems except that psyducking metronome Clefairy that got mega lucky with Metronome Hypnosis to crit Metronome Dream Eater twice and Metronome Super Fang'd the switch that literally almost wiped my team before grabbing the Super Rod.

I was like "okay I have 3, maybe 4 places that I can get Slowpoke", so I went on and tried them. I went to Celadon and tried to fish there, didn't get him.

I then went to Route 10 and encountered him, but there was a problem, I only had 1 Poke Ball, so I had to ensure that I would catch him here. I confused him with Anartia, and he damaged himself down to about 50%, and then I slept him, threw my Pokeball, and psyducking prayed.

It was the longest 3 wobbles of my life.

*click*

Okay cool I caught him. I named him Broking and immediately taught him Surf and Thunder Wave. When he gets Amnesia, there will be very little in game that will be able to stop him, short of blowing up.

With Slowpoke firmly within my grasp and everything else I needed to do, done, I went to challenge Koga. I felt kind of under leveled, and the gym was a bit of a struggle, but I got through it.
Koga is an asshole though. I have 5 mons healthy and Seism in, and you blow up on him. "If I can't win, I'll take one of your mons down with me!" What a chump.

With half the game done, I decided this would be a good place to stop. Until next time!

4) Kill the E4, gg no re

I am not claiming any more mons, at least not until the post game.
One last thing, I doubt any of you have finished the E4, but when you do, please stop or take screenshots/pictures of your team's stat cards after you do, I will need them if you decide to inherit any Pokemon.

James and Eevee September 16th, 2018 3:11 PM

Uh, so I have a very weird problem. I have a full team of six, just finished the S.S.Anne(spoilers XD) and a big fat whopping 0 of my mons can learn Cut. So...I have no idea what to do. Pls help

Ethmya September 16th, 2018 3:15 PM

You have to release one, rip.
If you want to game the system, you could leave one in the day care center, but thats more of a bandaid solution than a real one.

Lrachelr5 September 16th, 2018 3:19 PM

Also just so people rate aware I want to claim one of the two Snorlax for my team

Ethmya September 16th, 2018 3:20 PM

Eastern Snorlax is claimed by Rachel.

James and Eevee September 16th, 2018 3:24 PM

Guess we're gonna have another 'Death' then RIP. And I thought there wouldn't be any this leg.

UPDATE Two

Spoiler:

Managed to beat Misty with a little bit of difficulty almost wiping to her Starmie. As I headed to Vermilion City Maleficent evolved into Fearow meaning that almost all of my current team is in their final evolution stage. Before going onto the SS Anne I decided to clear out Route 11 of the trainers there to get some more experience. Managed to beat Cameron in the SS Anne with ease using Maleficent, Jay and Florian. Like Ethmya I needed to collect a Shandshrew corpse for Cut to get into Surge's gym. And to put it shortly, I one shot all three of his pokemon with Dig from Jay who then evolved into Graveler. To me, this is now a good place to stop.

#3?
Might be a little long, apologies.

Spoiler:

One week later.
I finally decided to fight Misty, she called me a coward for waiting so long to fight her.
I simply ignored her childish insult.
She started with Staryu and I sent out Strawberry. I didn't even give orders to my pokemon just let it battle itself. Staryu lost quickly and Misty sent out Starmie... However it was also no match for my pokemon.
Strawberry quickly handled Starmie and I walked out of that gym with a badge. Misty started yelling about a rematch. I turned and told her 'whats in it for me?' She didn't respond, so I walked off.

I got invited on a luxery cruise ship. It's called the SS Ann. There were many trainers on board.
None of them would leave me alone, I thought it would be relaxing. I'd just stay on board and relax. But no... Whats wrong with people?
I got off the ship due to people not knowing what a vacation is.... And went to the gym.
Surge was annoying. He started to monologue about war and electricity...
I told Softpillow to fight and Surge surrendered. He knew his electric type couldn't keep up with SoftPillow. I'll say one thing about Surge, at least he's not as braindead as the previous two gym leaders.
He told me I needed to treat all my pokemon well, not play favorites. I told him he needs to learn when to quit while he's ahead.

Some time later.....
I made it through Rock Tunnel. That place was so dark and eerie.
I kept Vulliby out the whole time.
However when I arrived at lavender town I was told it was haunted.
I quickly made my exit.
I do not do ghosts.
After hastily making my way to Celadon town I was in awe of the towns beauty.
It was full of flowers, and nature. Just so enjoyable on the senses. It got better when I made my way to the gym. Almost was sad I had to fight Erika for a badge. We fought and I won. She accepted her defeat. I asked her if she minded if I stayed in the gym for awhile. She told me it's not normal, but yes I may stay.
I think this is literally the best gym. The plants smell wonderful and the pokemon are all adorable.

Quite a long time has passed, but I decided it's time for me to leave Celadon City.
When I arrived in Fusha I was exhausted. I needed to lay down in a bed.
Literally rode down a gigantic hill to get here.
I encountered a doduo along the way and caught it. Unfortunately I didn't realize how sickly it was, by the time I got it to the pokemon center it was gone. Whatever kind of a dumb looking pokemon anyway.
I was roped into going on a safari zone tour. I mean like how stupid. Woopee show me pokemon living in the wild. What excitement....
As I was out, they had us 'fish' for a pokemon. However they told us no battling is allowed.
As I was fishing I hooked a Dratini. However who wants a Dratini? It looks like a snake... So I threw rocks at it until it ran away.
The next day.
After I had a good nights sleep I picked up my pokemon from the pokecenter. We went to challenge Koga.
I saw Koga in his gym, walked over to him.. But this guy thinks he's cool with his invisible walls.
I watched trainer after trainer walk into wall after wall sitting there waiting.
I wasn't going to be one of the dumb trainers walking into walls so I waited for Koga to leave his gym. I challenged him then.
Beat him with SoftPillow and Villiby. He stood no chance. I demanded he give me a badge, which he did.
Told him only a weak gym leader would hide behind invisible walls. He just laughed at that comment.

The next gym is in Saffron. I hear the gym leader is a psychic.
Why can't these gym leaders just line up to lose? Why do they all have to be in different towns, this is such a waste of time. I bet it's so they don't end up losing as often. Whatever, I'll go to Saffron in the morning.

Two days later
Just outside of Saffron city, the 'guard' told me I'm arriving at the right time as Team Rocket was just defeated.
I stopped and turned to him saying. 'You guys actually had to defeat team rocket. Wow your gym leader must be pretty weak to let her town get took over by those guys.'
As I moved to leave the building and enter Saffron City..... Something, no someone appeared in front of me.
She introduced herself as Sabrina, the Saffron city gym leader.
I screamed and ran off as clearly Saffron City is haunted.

Feel my writing is suffering from being tired.
Will include that in the next update.

James and Eevee September 18th, 2018 11:06 AM

New Update, Yays! Might have a little less detail tho, cause I'm in a bit of a rush, but here goes. Also, I realized that I can't catch a mon from every route like I've been doing lol.

Story:
Spoiler:
Days 11-15
Day 11. Deaths: 2
So, not much happened today. I met and defeated a Team Rocket grunt who had destroyed someone's house with the Dig TM. What's weird was he didn't even have a Pokemon that learns Dig. Hmm...
Anyway, we moved on, and stayed the night in a rest house along Route 5.
Day 12. Deaths: 2
So, apparently I can't go into Saffron City yet, because the road's closed? What road? Anyway, I went through the Underground Pathway to get to Vermilion City(AN: Which is an extremely bright shade of orange, yikes). Once I was there, I got an Old Rod, so I did some fishing, and caught a Magikarp which I named Tsunami. Then we went to go train him up on Route 6, and as it got late, retired to the Poke Center for the night.
Day 13. Deaths: 2
Ah, unlucky day number 13. Yes, I'm somewhat superstitious. Anyways, I had a ticket for the S.S.Anne, so I decided to get on board and check it out. Turns out, it's a cruise ship for trainers. As soon as we got out of one fight, another trainer wanted to battle. It got so bad that Alucard didn't make it through, as there were no Nurses on board(you'd think they would have a nurse on a cruise ship for trainers, but noooooooooo). We also fought Z on board, and KingSize soloed his team. Then, right as we left the ship, it left the harbor. Good riddance.
Day 14. Deaths: 3
We spent the day burying Alucard and mourning.
Day 15. Deaths: 3
So, Lt. Surge is kinda an idiot. War must have broken his logic, but even if he hadn't still wanted to battle after seeing KingSize, I would have forced it, because I wanted to avenge Alucard. And, Four Body Slams later, and we had the Thuder Badge, and TM24 Thunderbolt, which I taught KingSize.

Party:
Spoiler:
KingSize, the lvl 26 Nidoking
- Body Slam
- Thunderbolt
- Mega Punch
- Tackle
Sweater, the lvl 23 Fearow
- Peck
- Growl
- Leer
- Fury Attack
Pastry, the lvl 23 Jigglypuff
- Pound
- Water Gun
- Thunder Wave
- Sing
Houdini, the lvl 22 Kadabra
- Confusion
- Teleport
- Disable
Tsunami, the lvl 24 Gyarados
- Tackle
- Bite
- Splash
CUT SLAVE, the lvl 14 Oddish
(It's a Cut Slave, it doesn't matter what it's moves are)

Graveyard(RIP):
Spoiler:
Needler the Kakuna
Rayt the Rattata
Alucard the Golbat

I felt in a color mood, so yeah. Anyways, that's all for now, see y'all later

James and Eevee September 18th, 2018 7:24 PM

Question: Am I allowed to put the Cut Slave in the PC/release it whenever I want to, since it's technically not here anyway?

Brewmaster September 21st, 2018 5:47 PM

I'm still playing, I hope everyone else is as well.
But I'm having a rough time going off memory on route 19.
Think it would be cheating using a map on google... So.

Akugitsune328 September 23rd, 2018 11:35 AM

This seems really cool! Think I could join the party?

Game : Prob HeartGold (If that's still an option)
Trainer name : Byakuya
Trainer age : 18
Trainer nature : Relaxed
Backstory : A rather pampered childhood, but was bullied in school. While she has gotten over whatever trauma she suffered due to said bullying, there are times when her past comes back to haunt her.
Personality : Tries to act laid-back and like she doesn't care, but is a hard worker and a kind, thoughtful person at heart. Optimistic, friendly, with an appreciation for dark humor. Introvert.

Is this all you need?

Brewmaster September 24th, 2018 11:43 PM

Due to having awful luck with flying pokemon and not wanting legendaries.
I'm claiming Aerodactyl

James and Eevee September 25th, 2018 7:25 PM

Sorry I haven't updated in a few days, I've had a few family issues. Don't worry though, I should have an update up sometime tomorrow.

Lrachelr5 September 28th, 2018 4:01 PM

Sorry for the lack of an update I’m back at Uni and classes have started I’ll aim to update soon

Brewmaster October 5th, 2018 8:08 PM

update #4 is ready.
But I don't believe this challenge exists anymore.
I'll save it in my folders for if people ever return.
I've completed Red though.

Janp October 6th, 2018 3:25 AM

It's a shame, but Ethmya wasn't here since 23rd of September.
