Completed my gold random run!

Took a lot ( and I mean, A LOT) of item stalling on the Snorlax for me to beat Red.
Kite Boi and Got Moo? were mvps for the entire run, especially Kite Boi. He was not only a tank, but also a special powerhouse. But with my lack of typing, this was actually a pretty difficult run.

Wooo, time to get rolling again!

Update #8

- Helped Riley and defeated the Galactic Grunts at Iron Island
- Defeated Byron, it was somewhat tough but not as hard as I thought it would be
- Traveled through Mt. Coronet and up Route 216/217 to Snowpoint City
- Battled Candice and yikes that was actually tough! I could only use half my team since the other half is weak to Ice. Fuzzy took care of her Sneasel, but her Piloswine took out Fuzzy with Earthquake. Rookta defeated Piloswine, and then eventually it was a combination of switching in Scurry to take hits while I used revives on Fuzzy

Log #1
Spoiler:

Started my adventure by choosing Rowlet, name him Hermes.
Hermes and I battled Hau twice, with the second fight being really close as his Pichu and Popplio lowered by attack six times.
Afterward went to see the professor and caught a Rattata called Wormtail.
The school was next, defeated the students easily but the teacher kicked my ass, had to train a bit to put Wormtail at level 10 and it was pretty easy. Ended in Hau'oli City.

Defeated the totem with Hermes after Wormtail defeated the rattata that came to help and got a few tail whips off to lower their defense.
Afer that I searched for Lili and Cosmog, Hermes battled the crazy guys at the cave and evolved, obliterating the Furfrou.
Defeated Hau and then Hala easily, going to next island!

Finally got to Akala Island, became a surfing champion on the way. Actually lost to Sina's Glaceon but was allowed to continue, proceeded to Paniola Town where I trampled Hau with my newly captured Mudbray Roach. Got the egg at the daycare and defeated Gladion.
Afterward went to the water trial. The totem was a slog, everyone died except Hermes, I had to heal spam and use Work Up to get my attack big enough to defeat that Araquanid. Took a while but it's done.

It was fun, the team was quite balanced with Sudowoodo falling slightly behind towards the end. Cynthia was quite problematic, but I managed to pull through.

Altaria wasn't on purpose, but when I saw it in the team with bunch of Ruby exclusives I knew I had to keep it. But I think it's okay. I've done that in other runs too.

get this. i catch two wurmple to raise side by side bc i'm like well at least one of these guys gotta evolve into what i need right. lol wurmple 1 was a bust, but thankfully the second one evolved into cascoon. you see you know like i could have waited til the woods to just look for a cascoon probably, but i didn't want to miss on poison sting. i'm gonna need that at least for a little to help possibly get some stuff poisoned and all like. it's just me and dustox for quite a while you know. i'm also further handicapped in that i cannot read this game lmfao. it's in japanese bc i'm a masochist that has played this game enough damn times to know what i'm doing without basic reading comprehension. this is before they introduced having little icons and such by items names so in case you wanted to know, then yes, my bag is a mess!

between overleveling, getting 6 hardens off (heh) during the fight w roxanne's geodude, and shield dust negating rock tomb's speed drops, the first gym was no where near as daunting as i'd expected it to be. i talked about sequence breaking to get roselia and then come back to brawly, but i'm thinking i might not need to now, especially if i just hold on to harden for a little longer.

until next time...

the greatest law known to man is when i changed the double posting rule some 3-4 years ago in this section. ...i think i did that, anyway. who knows. who cares.

so anyway, i go rescue the wingull...easy...you know. then i looked up a bunch of the...is this game in kanji or katakana or...so i look up items to translate stuff. i have enough random shit in my bag to make one of those like influencer "what's in my bag????" type videos, you know? a pp up here, a protein there. i deposited most of what i could figure out into the pc and moved on to dewford.

i, a dumbass child in 2003, went through granite cave without flash and have never strayed from that formula ever since. i know it like the back of my hand. so i get to steven, give him his thing, debate on teaching dustox steel wing, find out he can't learn it anyway so the debate is worthless, and i move on to just go fight brawly. i figured...if i can do it, i'll do it. if it's too much, i'll sequence break, come back with roselia, get the badge, it's honky dory.

brawly ain't land but like two scratches on me before i wiped the floor with his team with confusion. didn't get off any hardens (heh) and didn't need them anyway. so now we're moving on...i'll probably skip some trainers so i can get to roselia faster and have some training fodder for it but yeah.

y'all i thought my ass was about to lose to may...i somehow stuck it out like. dustox's bug typing neutralizes ground at least bc i thought marshtomp would be the worst of it, but no that girl got a numel. i was not about that fight lmaooo but i somehow lived...and made it up there to mauville. i got my bike...i got my roselia...it's all good. roselia caught up pretty quickly and is a fuckin champ though like. you throw down some growth??? and just use whatever grass move you want?? game is SET, bitch. leech seed is nice too and poison point helps when the opponent try to get close bc bam bitch, poison. natural cure is probably the overall better ability for roselia, but like. for in-game with the team i gotta have. i think it's more beneficial to me to have poison point.

speaking of points, it's at this point that i truly realize that my game is in set instead of shift. i noticed it earlier when i had zigzagoon w me for hm stuff, but since it's not like i would have changed pokemon anyway, i didn't think about it. now that i have another actual party member, i'm like OH SHIT. but i mean. i can't read anything anyway so it just makes more sense and saves time to play in set, something i usually never do. pretty fun though, tbh. i like it. gives me another hurdle to jump and makes this run all the more enjoyable. also it's nice the battery on this cartridge isn't dead. i've found a way around not being able to read or see my items bc the one items you CAN see pictures of are the berries. you can check the tags to see a pic and i know what each berry looks like so you know!! i'm planting them. i haven't been able to plant and grow berries in rse in so long...it's really nice and nostalgic.

anyway, i'm trynna get the ice beam tm early for when i get swablu soon-ish but before THAT, i'm boutta bust up some rocks and get a koffing. i feel like these next two party members are gonna be a pain to play catch up with, but i've managed before, i will manage again. here we goooo. also i feel weird posting three times in a row but i think i'm okay to since it's just updates?? yet the back of my mind is screaming at me. all those posts i used to merge...lmfao...damn.

Update #10 (Final!)

After a failed couple of attempts (I could barely get past Aaron) I leveled up my team a little more (and leveled Fuzzy further to level 56 to learn Discharge. Why does it have to learn that move so late lol sheesh)

And then on to the Elite Four:

Aaron: Fuzzy did most of the work, his Heracross was annoying with Megahorn landing critical hits, also was annoying that his Drapion knows Ice Fang which made it difficult to use Gamma to finish it off. After Fuzzy paralyzed Drapion though, Gamma was able to finish him with an Earthquake.

Bertha: Opened with Tally to take out Whiscash, but then her Gliscor was annoying (seriously it knows all 3 of Thunder, Fire and Ice Fang?) Rookta finally took it down and then the rest of her team was easy for Rookta.

Flint: lol easy for Rookta

Lucian: omg, his freaking Bronzor (also his stupid Gallade, but mostly his stupid freaking Bronzor) Fuzzy took it on but it was slow getting its HP down. Gallade was tough too but Tally finally took it down

Cynthia: Kept switching between Tally and Gamma to make her Garchomp waste PP for Dragon Rush and Earthquake and eventually was able to put Rookta in to finish it off with Ice Beam, then her Roserade was annoying... Sludge Bomb was killer, Togekiss knocked out Fuzzy a few times with crit Aura Spheres but eventually Fuzzy paralyzed it and took it down. The rest was kind of easy!

It was long and also took many Hyper Potions/MooMoo Milks/Revives, but I pulled it off! And now the challenge is complete!

the long awaited fourth update................ so i got koffing (get it......drop......koffing.......coughing.....cough drop......) and have to play catch up with it for a while, which is surprisingly not too bad esp since i taught it shock wave immediately and it learned sludge quickly. roselia and dustox don't see much use for a while because of me leveling up koffing and soon after, swablu.

now swablu lemme tell ya, i love it, but that's what took the longest time for this update. i normally do not ev train at all but i definitely always make a point to tack on the macho brace and find a shit ton of spinda any time i plan on using altaria in these games. just bc i always buff altaria with a full special set (sans fly) so i need that lmfao. that's what took up my time, plus getting the money for more coins to get ice beam early and not have to wait on the abandoned ship.

i do all that. beat team aqua. i go to the gym. i'm thinking this is gonna be not fun bc dustox and roselia uhhhhh yeah not good contenders in a fire gym lol. i mostly relied on koffing and swablu, who are both female and i guess are not lesbians bc flannery couldn't use attract like i know she tends to do. slugmas were easy to take down, the torkoal required some strategy. koffing managed to poison torkoal (hanging on w 1 hp from slugma 2) before being ko'd. roselia came in just to use leech seed + take an overheat hit so i knew torkoal's sp att was nothing. between poison, leech seed, and lowered sp att, torkoal couldn't do shit to swablu, even through the flails it tried to land. easy pickings.

so there wasn't as much to do between this update and the last because you really don't have that much more that's open to you after you beat flannery. there's still a lot of places you can't access like yeah you get the desert and another trick house and fiery path, but that's it. that being said, i did go and do all of that and leveled up everyone just a smidge before going to norman's gym. this was one i was really dreading and finally i dreaded it for good reason lol. this one almost beat my ass like. roselia is the mvp fr bc norman's last slaking took a poison point (which isn't THAT great bc facade but i'm getting there...) and planted a leech seed. koffing was able to take the facade hits decently...couldn't put out much damage, but she's my only pokemon that can take any physical hits. i literally barely won this one like koffing was my last one standing lol.

all i've done after that win was go pick up the amulet coin from mom so i can start making monayyyy. i'm about to whip back to go get my next party member then whip right tf back to get on those first few surfing routes of the game where i'll level up carvahna and the rest of the party...plus i'll be getting kecleon soon too so this next update might take a while bc of two party members + all those surf routes. i'm thinking of just hunting for a kecleon in the grass rather than waiting on the devon scope tbh. that way i can level up both carvahna and kecelon at the same time and not have to back track with kecleon later.

the gang is all here!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! catching a carvahna wasn't hard ofc, i fished one up easily after getting the good rod. then i spent a couple of hours hunting down a kecleon in the grass on route 119 bc i didn't want to have to wait until i got a devon scope to get the easy kecleon lol. it was well worth it though bc i was able to get both party members caught up very quickly after i came back to petalburg to do the surf route all the way back to slateport. carvahna evolved ofc and kecleon uh well it's kecleon.

as u can see, koffing and swablu have evolved and have become great assets to the team. roselia is still going strong, he just doesn't have as much coverage as other party members since the attacks he's got are both grass, but he is still great for support with leech seed and against water types. sharpedo is da man and kecleon is decent too and will get better when i load her with more physical moves. dustox though.................hoo boy lol his usefulness has gone down the drain, but he's still trying his best...at the very least, he has light screen for support but uh. yeah. he sure is...a dustox...

cries updates get less fun to write as the game goes on and the team gets stronger and doesn't struggle as much. also spent a lot of time changing some movesets and getting tms, if you couldn't tell. more to come for the next update (including an hm i've been putting off but hey we all gotta do it at some point). fought a lot of trainers between the 6th and 7th gyms. team aqua was no match for me and holy shit neither were tate and liza. i even decided to play risky and lead off w dustox and sharpedo. dustox went in to put up a light screen and i was gonna switch out, but like lmfao. i probably could have survived that fight leaving him in. i did swap him for kecleon though and i mean. a surf, crunch, and shadow ball did the trick. the two were done within about three turns. kind of sad i used to struggle so much with this gym years ago but hey.

y'all see where i'm having to put these ugly hm moves on my team smh i hate these things so much. anyway tho uhhhh you'll never guess who took out wallace's milotic................if you guessed dustox you are correct lmao. toxic + light screen was a monster, plus outspeeding milotic and resisting confuse and freeze from water pulse and ice beam respectively. shield dust is an ability that don't PLAY i'm tellin ya. anyway i'm off to get a few more tms that will make it into my final move slots and then i'm gonna plunge through victory road and probably do a little more grinding after that and. we'll see how the elite four and champion go...especially considering i still can't read anything in the game and i'm playing in set. i'm having fun playing in set tho and this team has forced me to strategize again and i like that. i normally go for all out attack and just race through the games, but i think that's part of why i've gotten so bored with the series as of late. this has been really fun so far so i can't wait to see how we close out the remainder of our journey.

Could I get a reroll on Ambipom and Dragonite? I believe they are post game only

MiKyu22 October 18th, 2019 5:07 PM

Hello, it sees that the this sub-forum went a bit empty...
But, i hope i can still enter the challenge:

Forum Username: MiKyu22
Game Version: Emerald
Number of Pokemon: 6
Exclude NFEs: Yes
National Dex: No
Restrictions: At least one bug type for a bigger challenge. Poke's need to be catchable in-game, trade evolution are fine, though.

EccentricEncylopedia October 19th, 2019 11:53 AM

Hey, your team is Muk, Raichu, Magcargo, Huntail, Slaking and Heracross. The team's a bit late game so if you want a reroll on one or two of them then feel free.

MiKyu22 October 19th, 2019 2:12 PM

If you could re-roll raichu for another eletric type, i would be thankful.

EccentricEncylopedia October 19th, 2019 11:12 PM

Of course! That'll be a plusle if that's alright with you.

Allosawyou October 20th, 2019 3:05 AM

I'm looking for a reason to play Ultra Sun one more time before Sword/Shield come out.

There dosen't seem to be anyone needing me to roll for them, so...

Forum Username: Allosawyou
Game Version: Ultra Sun
Number of Pokemon: 6
Exclude NFEs: Yes; with exception of Trade Evos [Bar Clampearl]
National Dex: No
Restrictions: Not so much a restriction, more I don't want to do an extended solo run because those just end up as you overlerveling and smashing everything, so if it rolls that way, feel free to do a couple of extra rolls for 'placeholder' teammates for me to use until lategame ones show up. Just make the placeholders clear. I'd say use placeholders if I'm below 2 members at the end of Melemele; 4 at end of Akala and 5 at the end of Ula'Ula.

Also I'm fine using NFE's for Trade Evos; such as Kadabra; Haunter; Machoke; with the exception of Clampearl because Clampearl is basically unusable.

Since i don't own neither US nor UM, a quick look in the pokedex reveled that this roll was good one:
Weavile
Magnezone
Wishiwashi (SCHOOL form)
Forrestress
Gumshoos
Cradily
So, if you want do re-roll, feel free to do so.

Now, let's start the fun:
LOG #1 --- From Littleroot to Petalburg Woods.
Spoiler:
Well, hello everybody. This is my first log and my first official challenge since a long time ago, this log will just be a introductory one, so i will just talk about the most important: that is, i going from the truck until Petalburg Woods, where lives the first pokemon of my team. Thankering again @EccentricEncylopedia for rolling for me.

FROM LITTLEROOT TO PETALBURG WOODS.

Started exiting the truck and entering home, where i adjust the wall's clock and get a potion in my PC. After that, i briefly see a documentary about Norman and then we're invited to talk to May.

The rest goes like every start in Ruby/Shappire/Emerald: We talk to the rival, save his/her father from a pokemon using one of the starters and he then let us keep it. I choose torchic since i would be running only a normal type for about 3 or 4 gym's and fighting a combusken would not be nice.

After that, the Professor ask if we want to see his child and to progress in the game we go there, however, we need to stop by a important place first:

OLDALE TOWN.

Why would this be a important place? Because FREE POTION! Yes, i'll need them a LOT. Since we can't bypass the man blocking the road to Petalburg, we are forced to fight our's rival (This mean hitting SCRATCH/POUND/TACKLE 'till someone faints). After that, finally the Professor gives us a Pokedex and some Pokeballs to catch something.

Note that i going to skip the 2nd rival's meeting/catching tutorial/parent's meeting since it is just a introduction and we still need to go there to conquer the 5th BAGDE anyway. Other important thing is that i am skipping all the optional battles along the way, since SLAKOTH can be caught the moment i step in PETALBURG WOODS.

No sooner said than done, once i get in PETALBURG WOODS, i go to the grass in right and start searching for SLAKOTH until i find a female one at level 6. A bit damage, a pokeball and...

DONE! I have caught the first pokemon of my future team: a female SLAKOTH called WHITE!

No more to be said in that somewhat lenghty entry: i went back to PETALBURG, boxed Torchic and started training WHITE against the trainers i sneaked by. One thing to be noted is that i didn't know that the SLAKOTH's family unique ability: Truant would be such a PAIN to deal with.

"But, it just skip one turn."

Yes. Not so problematic when you have various team members, but alone it JUST loses ONE TURN! Basically a free hit turn to the opponent. Geez, no wonder any other pokemon, except some other obscure ones, have it.

Heya, thanks for the response! Only problem is that I can get two of these before the first gym, I probably should have been more specific in my description on the ruling with that. To elaborate, I was hoping to have only one of my Pokemon be attainable before the primary gym battle.

There you go:
Sharpedo
Menectric

That was not the first roll, but the other ones seemed kinda common or late-game, if you wanna Arcanine, Lycanroc and Palossand were one of the other rolls.

Allosawyou October 21st, 2019 1:00 AM

@MiKyu22

I completely forgot that the fossil pokemon are completely asinine to obtain in USUM. You have to have a Rank 3 Isle Aphun [Requireing 60 pokemon minimum in your boxes]; and then it's a Very Rare outcome for a mission which takes 24 hours. And that very rare slot is shared with every single fossil+Golden Bottlecaps. Basically it's like Munchlax on honey trees level of stupid. If I was in Ultra Moon it would be alright; since it's an option from Olivia. But in Ultra Sun you get the Claw Fossil instead and have to Pokepelago for Root.

Sneasel isn't available until literally right before the E4, but I plan to do postgame so I'll keep that one.

I'd like a re-roll on Craydily however. It's just too time-consuming to obtain. Sword/Shield could actually be out by the time I get a Root Fossil.

Or just swap it out for Armaldo; which is basically the version counterpart.

MiKyu22 October 21st, 2019 7:07 AM

@Allosawyou

Oh, i didn't now Cradily would be such a hassle to get. You can use Armaldo without problem.

Confirming team of Primarina, Hariyama, Masquerain, Sharpedo, Manectric, and Metagross. Funny that 5/6 are Hoenn mons, should be fun!

Allosawyou October 22nd, 2019 4:50 AM

Right; so it seems I post the progress of my Challenge here; so here goes:

Random Pokemon Given:

Gumshoos
Magnezone
Wishiwashi
Armaldo
Foretress
Weavile

Immediately I can see where my first major challenge is going to be! The team has worked out surprisingly balanced, even with two Bug-types and two Steel-types, also, this list of pokemon, besides Magnezone, are all pokemon I've never actually used in an in-game playthrough.

I push through all the intro. God Gen 7 why do you stop me every 5 steps? I chose Rowlet for this part because Popplio should be easy to handle with Magnemite.

Then I realise that what I think is the first problem isn't the first problem. The first problem is Hau 2. Yungoos is a physical attacker; and Pichu has Charm. So Yungoos needs to be strong enough to deal with both Pichu and Popplio; despite Growls and Charms.

I catch Yungoos; it's Naughty Nature with Strong Jaw, so that's good. I grind on Route 1 to Lv8; which takes quite a long time. The difficulty of this battle entirely depends on what Pichu does. Chomper immediately takes Pichu to red... and it uses Charm. Worst-case scenario. Although no Static. Since I'm -2 Attack I give Popplio a Leer, but even after that Popplio Growls and Tackle is a 4~5HKO. Popplio's Water Gun is a 3HKO. Also; Hau's Popplio is Female. Despite trainer's pokemon usually having genders lining up with their own; and Popplio having a 12.5% female ratio [despite it's obviously feminine design in later forms...]

Luckily; Popplio keeps Growling mostly; and I only take a 2nd Water Gun from outside Torrent Range. If Popplio Water Guned once more I'd have lost [Well; I'd have been forced to just spam Growls with Rowlet until I was KO'ed; since I can't box Rowlet yet.]

I catch a Magnemite; but it has Magnet Pull. Frankly; to have any shot against Hala; I need Sturdy; so, I go catch more. And yes; Hala is obviously going to be an absolute nightmare with nothing but a Normal-type and a Steel-type. Machop's Revenge is strong enough to usually OHKO even neutrals and Crabrawler has All-Out Pummelling.

I get a Sturdy Magnemite on my 2nd Magnemite. It took about 10 mins to find this 2nd Magnemite.

sunshinesonia October 23rd, 2019 5:39 AM

i might drop the white run. i forgot how slow and agonizing fifth gen is, though i still love the games, its just very exhausting. i could do another run in Omega Ruby since its a lot more fast paced. we'll see.

MiKyu22 October 23rd, 2019 6:43 AM

LOG #2 --- A Hard Day.
Spoiler:

A Hard Day

Howdy! Between the logs i made some training fighting against the trainers i had ignore and backtracking my steps until where i found WHITE: Petalburg Woods, now that she is well trained we can pass through it without problems (except if i run out of POTIONS and end going all the way to Petalburg because TRUANT).

Apart from rescuing the Devon employee and defeating a team aqua's member (although this is not the last time we'll see him), nothing really happened in the woods. The route between it and Petalburg was not interesting, either. A boy(?) right the exit gave me the Bullet Seed TM, oh man, if only WHITE could learn it. Sigh...
The flowershop's women gave me BERRIES and a Waterpot which i thought it would be usefull, but i didn't need it really. The rest is about me fighting against the other trainers.

Let me note how stressful is fighting against a SHROOMISH with the EFFECT SPORE ability: i attacked it once with WHITE and it paralyzed her, after that whenever her could attack, paralyze would take over. Just... no, never again.

After reaching Petalburg, i paid a visit in the Woodcutter's house to get CUT and used it in WHITE to "better" STAB, in the Trainer's School to get QUICK CLAW and in the pokemart to resplanish my POTION suplies and get some ATTACK X. Then i went to the route after the city(which goes to the caves) and grinded in there like there is no tomorrow.

In the beginning i thought that no heavy grinding would be needed, however after fighting against ONE geodude and almost beign out with CUT's PP and almost beign killed, it was clear that i would need to grind a LOT. Again, sigh...
On the other side, once WHITE evolved into VIGOROTH and i could attack in every turn... What a relief, i must say.

Now that i had VIGOROTH, Roxanne would not be pose much a problem:

VS. ROXANNE

I must say, i glad i grinded WHITE, because she would not have defeated Roxanne the other way. He started with a geodude whose level was way higher than the others. It was not a problem to WHITE, then i used both ATTACK X and won against the 2 geodude with cut. It was time to Roxanne send Nosepass in. Boy, i glad SLAKOTH learns SLACK OFF, it saved her a lot of times and in the end, nosepass went down and it earned me my FIRST BADGE.

WHITE RUN FINAL UPDATE!
Spoiler:
HOWDY!! so i pretty much annihilated the elite four. grimsley was kinda annoying since i didn't really have anything effective against dark, but whatever. i caught zekrom really easily? in like my third ball so? cool! N was pretty easy actually. i DID white out at Ghetsis but i came back and sent the stinky man to the moon. i have so much love for gen 5. even though i prefer bw2 i still adore the first iterations. this was a fun challenge! id like to discuss my team a little

Lassie was at his most useful early-mid game. he kinda fell out later but he was still a good dog.
Boots was more useful mid-late game. did burn Ghetsis's Bisharp so that was lit.
Fillyjonk was fairly useful throughout the entire game. im kinda stupid for not realising Munna evolved with Moon Stone. i just sat there wondering why it took so long for Munna to evolve.
Tinkers was pretty useful with her status moves. Leech Seed + Sleep Powder is a super good combo!
Astrid didn't do much until late game. honestly, she mostly sat in the back. but she pretty much tore through most things when she needed too.
Alph did more than Astrid, but still not super much. he was the mvp in the elite four!

i dont think i will do another run in white. its a super slow game, and id rather do them in black 2 or later games.

FINAL TEAM ITERATION!

Final Update on Platinum Run

Plot
Spoiler:
I was stuck in Victory Road for 9 months, but I finally escaped and it’s time to take on the Pokémon League! Okay, jokes aside, back in April I was starting to get burned out on Pokémon so I took a bit of a break. With the release of Sword and Shield, I’ve felt refreshed and ready to go! I decided to go ahead and finish this one off since I’d like to continue working towards being an Ultimate Champion. And... I’m still terrified of Cynthia.

I spent a few hours on a long car trip grinding to get everyone to at least Level 50 (key word at least, because Katie ended up much higher...). I happened to discover an unused heart scale in my bag, so I used it to give Wobble Ice Punch in order to deal with Garchomp. Let’s begin!

vs Aaron
For the most part, this battle wasn’t too bad. Heracross was quite annoying because with Stone Edge, it’s very risky to send Celeste out. Luckily, she was able to live with 12 HP and one shot with Air Slash because Heracross is very weak to flying.

vs Bertha
So... this is an interesting one. In the last battle, I had Wobble in front to get rid of Aaron’s Yanmega with Rock Slide (which was obviously successful if I’m even getting to battle Bertha). I intended to lead with Hibiscus to get rid of Whiscash without risking Katie taking a hit... but completely forgot to switch the two. So I was at a disadvantage from the start. I didn’t want to risk an underleveled Roserade getting one shot on a switch in, so I just had to do the best I could. But, that meant Medicham took a bit of damage and wouldn’t have had a chance to do anything against Gliscor. Nobody else had an Ice type move, though, so it was necessary to keep Wobble healthy. Unfortunately, that meant sacrificing Maddie since she wouldn’t really be able to do much against a ground type trainer. Basically, the entire battle I was behind schedule, but found a way to prevail.

vs Flint
After what happened against Bertha, I was extra careful to make sure the right Pokémon was in front. Coincidentally... it’s Wobble again because STAB Force Palm plus Pure Power against a Houndoom works very well. The issue with fire types, though, is that on this team, my best weapon against Fire types is also weak to Fire, so it’s always a risk to use Katie against them.

vs Lucian
I wish I could say this was the calm before the storm, but... it was far from calm. Mr. Mime set up Reflect, and considering most of my team is made up of Physical attackers, it was tough to damage them much until that time had passed. Fortunately, we also did pretty well defensively in this battle and once the screen was down, I was able to finish things off.

vs Cynthia
Oh my GOSH this is the most intense battle I’ve ever had. I’ve battled Cynthia before and as a result am absolutely terrified of her, but none of those were this close (or lucky).

To start with, everyone except Katie was around 6 levels lower than Cynthia's team, if not more. Because of this, I figured status effects and battle hazards were going to be necessary to even give myself a chance. Hibiscus did outspeed Spiritomb, so I was able to get one layer of toxic spikes up. I expected to get one shot, but Roserade survived and got the second layer of toxic spikes up, which came in clutch later. After being knocked out on the second turn, I decided to bring Katie in to set up Stealth Rocks. Although she’s weak to Silver Wind, she’s also pretty bulky, and it isn’t STAB for Spiritomb, so I wasn’t too worried. Cynthia actually decided to withdraw Spiritomb and put in Togekiss, so on the next turn I switched as well.

Putting Wobble in was a bit dangerous- her most important role in this battle is to take out Garchomp, and taking any damage before then will really hurt my chances. Here’s where the luck really starts: I go for Ice Punch, and get the Freeze on Togekiss. I fully expected her to use a full restore after this, but she didn’t and Togekiss fell with absolutely no damage on Wobble.

Next she brought in Lucario, which was easy. It’s Aura Sphere hardly did anything to Katie, and she got a critical hit Earthquake to OHKO. Not sure if it mattered, but it’s always nice to have one less turn to worry about.

Next was Milotic. I decided to switch in Celeste because I really needed Katie later on. This is where the Toxic Spikes really helped out- even though she could’ve gone for an Ice Beam, she kept using Mirror Coat and with a combination of Toxic damage and Air Slashes, I was able to knock it out, somehow without triggering a Full Restore.

And now... the single most important moment of the entire playthrough. Garchomp. I’m absolutely terrified of this thing, and aside from Katie, I’m not sure anyone can take a hit from it. With Wobble’s high speed, though, I can outspeed and knock it out with Ice Punch, right? Hopefully? Maybe? Please?

Nope. I knew it was fast, but didn’t realize it was that fast. It goes for Dragon Rush... and misses! Looking back, it’s 70% accurate (during the battle, I assumed it was 95%) but it’s still a lucky roll to dodge it. So, it all relies on how strong Ice Punch is. It’s not STAB, but it’s Physical on a Pokémon with Pure Power, and I also gave Wobble the Never Melt Ice that was sitting around in my bag just for this situation. Fingers crossed and... it didn’t matter. Another critical hit! Fainting her Garchomp with a Pokémon 8 levels lower is one of the funniest things I’ve ever seen, considering how strong we all know it is.

Now that that’s over, she still has one Pokémon left: Roserade. When it came in, it cleared the Toxic Spikes... so my question to Cynthia, is why didn’t you do that earlier? You could’ve saved your Milotic and made things a lot tougher in general... I’m not complaining though, because Katie was able to take out Roserade very easily, meaning I’m the new champion of the Sinnoh Region, and I’ve also completed the second part of my Ultimate Random challenge!

Like I've said above, I haven't played either of the Ultra games, but I did check Pokemon locations so I think you will be fine getting these Pokemon. Let me know though if you need a re-roll.

So its been a long long time coming, a whole 6 months in fact! I believe I started my final leg of the ultimate run in July, but I finally completed it..only to find that I now have a new final leg to conquer, sword or shield. So when Christmas comes I plan on getting Shield, once I do a normal run of it I'll probably end up doing a run from here. But to celebrate my completion of X finally, I have set up an ultimate hall of fame of all my past teams that I had throughout this run that has taken me at least a year and a half. I've lost motivation for it a lot, but I finally pulled through in the end to get it done. and when I get to shield, I'll do the same for that, but here it is, my hall of fame.
Note: MVP by each pokemon means the pokemon that was my strongest through the specific run with the team.

Spoiler:

I expected Totem Araquanid to be hard, but oh my ARCEUS that thing was tough. I failed the first attempt, and ended up having to grind Bella up to level 22 to even have a remote chance to win (and I hate level grinding...). Then, it took an X Special Defense to be able to live for more than 1 turn. I typically don’t use X items, but this time it definitely saved me. Once I got it to where Araquanid plus Dewpider’s bubbles were doing less than half, I was able to paralyze the totem and stall it out with Draining Kiss. I would’ve preferred to use Silver Wind and get stat boosts, but I really needed to get health back because there was a damage range of 2 HP for each of the totem's bubbles, and those extra points I gain can be the difference between living and fainting. Yeah, it was that close. Not to mention, I was deathly afraid of crits, because a single one from EITHER Araquanid or Dewpider would be the end. So it took a mix of luck and stalling, and a battle style I’m not particularly proud of, but it got the job done.

Once that was over with, I was able to head back to Melemele Island and catch Frostbite the Shellder, so now I have two good options for the fire trial!

Hey guys. Just thought I'd do a monotype challenge run of Pokemon Moon. Please leave suggestions for a team I should use.

Restrictions: All Pokemon must have the same type in common. Other then that, you are free to suggest whatever you want.

Hi and welcome to the forum. I got you Flying monotype with this team. Let me know, if there are any problems with this team:

Update #3 on Ultra Moon run

Plot
Spoiler:

After quite the though battle with Totem Araquanid, the next two were much less stressful. Totem Marowak was a bit tougher than expected, mostly due to its SOS partner in Salazzle, but I was still able to beat it. Despite having serious issues with it in my previous playthroughs, Totem Lurantis was actually very easy, because I nearly one shot it with Frostbite (Icicle Spear is essentially a base 125 power move with Skill Link, which is VERY useful) and was able to finish it off with a couple of Pollen Puffs from Bella (it kept healing just enough to survive with Synthesis, but once the sunlight faded it was easy to take out).

After that, I made my way to Hano Grand resort to catch my Sandygast and... it was blocked. See, I used a Palossand in one playthrough of Sun and remember it taking an annoyingly long time to unlock the area it can be caught considering it’s in the first city on the island, but I didn’t realize that it took THIS long. My plan was to kill Olivia's rock types with a new Ground type member of the team, but I guess that won’t be happening, which makes this battle a lot more stressful. Ugh... at least once I finish this battle, I’m pretty confident about the rest of the trials.

On 25th of December 2018 I requested random team for Soul Silver. On 25th of June 2019, I started the save and caught Ledyba. On 30th of December 2019 I beat first Gym and hatched Togepi. And on 11st of January 2020 I beat Red.

It was a long journey and throughout the whole time, I had this run on the back of my mind, still thinking about beating it. The hardest part was probably getting up early in the morning and catching Ledyba. And then actually training it to beat Falkner. But then I pretty much speedrun the whole game. I was so fast that I didn't even catch Chansey, one of the rolled Pokémon. I just couldn't wait for it to be available in Safari Zone and didn't realize I can catch it in Kanto. But then, I found out I couldn't even be able to use it, since I needed few HMs to get to Red, so I made decision to use only 5 Pokémon for the whole game. I hope this decision is okay with everyone.

Overall, this was pretty interesting run, even though I don't think I've used other Pokémon than Heracross and Xatu in Kanto. Well, I used them as fodder against Red when I had to heal my MVPs.

And here's few screenshots as proofs:

I usually don't like replaying the games but I really REALLY want an excuse to play B2 again so I figure this would be a fun way to do it !~
