Name: GrassN
Game Version: Gold or Silver (I'll be getting them on VC so can use whichever works for the roll)
Number of Pokemon: 6
Exclude NFEs: Yes
National Dex: No
Restrictions: I am unable to trade, because itll be on VC for the 3DS, so no trading evolutions.
I'd like a type balanced team, with a surfer and flyer,
no legendaries,
and no hacks (so will need a viable one before the first gym, and i would like to have all 6 prior to the elite 4)

Here you go!

Wigglytuff
Sudowoodo
Farfetch'd
Azumarill
Sunflora
Piloswine

This team should work with any of the versions.I kept rolling trade-evos, so if you end up being able to trade, feel free to sub in Scizor or SteeliX

Never realized Jigglypuff was available before the first gym.

Confirming this team!

Let me know if there are any problems with these teams.

Whoops! Did not see that I got two rolls for my GSC team. I'll stick with MegaDrianGiga's roll for that game, and use yours for RBY.

Can I get a reroll on Lapras? I think I've used it in just about every Kanto game lol

Sorry for rolling twice, I mustve been writing my post when the first was posted.

Signing up myself!

Name: MegaDrainGiga
Game Version: Firered
Number of Pokemon: 6
Exclude NFEs: Yes
National Dex: No
Restrictions: Id like one before the first gym that is not a starter, preferably one that can surf, and no overlapping types unless they are multi-typed!

Any way I can get a re-roll on Wigglytuff😅
Though I hate to break up the Wigglytuff twins, I have been looking for a Jigglypuff for over an hour and am having no luck finding one. I know they're rare, but Im really wanting to get started, and already know Im going to have to spend awhile looking for Marill later on. So any other pre-first gym pokemon! (I officially decided on Gold Version, so cant do Ledian or Teddiursa)

Update 1

Moving fairly quickly! I have beaten both Faulkner and Bugsy with no trouble at all actually. Furret's pretty good, and is able to sweep most of the pokemon I've fought since getting the second badge. I will say getting him to evolve was a little bit of a task, because Sentret is just SO slow, but once he learned Quick Attack it fixed that.

Right now I just caught my Sunkern and am going to level it and Furret up before I try Whitney. I already won the bug catching contest, so I can get Sunflora whenever (and though I would love to hold off til it learns Giga Drain, I dont think I can make it til lvl 46) but going to spend a little more time before evolving it.

Current Team

Update 2

Much slower progress today! For one, Whitney lived up to her reputation as difficult yet again. She might be the most capable AI in these early games. She locked my Sunkern into a nearly 15 turn Encore of Growth, and every time it ran out she immediately used it before I could use a different move. Then after that, despite me trying to be smart and avoid her Miltank's Rollout, as soon as I lowered its accuracy with Mudslap, she only used Stomp the rest of the battle, and along with Attract, I was out in no time. Second time around went much better, as I just led with Furret and used Mudslap until even Stomp was missing a lot of the time.

After getting the third badge, I went straight to catch my third Pokemon, and though I have only used him for a short time so far, Sudowoodo is kind of great. It has a lot of good coverage with fighting and rock moves, and can even learn the elemental punches. After that, I decided to start looking for my fourth 'mon of Marill. Looking for a 1% spawn rate was not fun, but only ended up taking about 30-45 minutes. I'm going to spend some time leveling everyone up, but before I challenge Morty, but thankfully, Sudowoodo and Marill will make him much easier then trying to go in with only a normal and grass type.

My first challenge update!

Spoiler:

I had some time to get started on my FireRed challenge and it's going well! I have never used any of these pokemon before, so its making the game more interesting.
Badge #1 - Done: Mankey was great for fighting Brock, and I think I beat him with Mankey at level 9. However, I have never had so much trouble with Viridian Forest! Every pokemon resisted the only decent move I had, so I had to keep leaving to heal, so it took awhile to get there!
Badge #2 - Done: I had to spend quite a bit of time training up Jigglypuff and Mankey to beat Misty, because her Starmie really did some damage with Water Pulse. I ended up going down to Vermillion City and using trainers around there to level up, and finally was able to keep Starmie asleep long enough to knock it out.
Badge #3: I'm on the SS Anne with Drowzee now, and just about to face my rival, Mankey evolved, so I really don't think I will have much issue with him or with Surge. I may have some time tomorrow to keep playing through it so will post an update soon!

Update 3

Smaller update today. Took a little while to train up Marill, but luckily it evolves at only 18, so started moving a lot quicker after that. With Azumarill and Surf, Morty was no problem at all. I've decided not to evolve Sunkern until level 31 so I can get both synthesis and petal dance, but at this point its becoming very difficult to train it even with a type advantage. Surfing in the Whirl Islands sounded like a great place to train it, but Tentacool's are Poison and Goldeen's know Peck, so only taking a quarter of their HP with Mega Drain doesn't make it easy. Good thing is, once it evolves, I actually think it may be pretty helpful, especially if I keep trying to overlevel it.

My Furret has taken a back seat, but whenever I bring him out, he OHKO's just about anything. Thinking of teaching him Shadow Ball, which would then give him a type advantage move over 8 different types. Also considering renaming him "Fearet" lol

At Chuck's gym, but going to wait til tomorrow to try him, just because I need it to be daytime to catch Farfetch'd and a Flying move will make the gym a lot easier.

2nd update!
Spoiler:

Been enjoying the run so far! Hypno has become my go to for battles, - psychic types really are OP in this region (and Dream Eater is an incredible move. Everyone else has been good to play with too.
Gym 3 - Done: This was actually pretty easy. Primeape pretty much took care of all off his pokemon, probably because he was way overlevelled while I was training up the other two.

Gym 4: I am on a bit of a hiatus before I take on the next gym, because I am in pursuit of Flamethrower's TM from the game corner. I got my Eevee, but know that Flareon doesn't really learn fire moves for a long, long time. So, I am saving up enough money to buy enough coins to get it Flamrethrower from the game corner. Only takes like, 4500 coins so..... a lot of money lol. As such, I have been fighting literally EVERY trainer I can find, currently working my way down to Fuschia City. The Rockets at the underground hideout and the tower have been helpful, but I am only halfway there. On the plus side, I should have some WAY overlevelled pokemon once I go back to the gyms :)

Update 4

Moving along in this challenge. I didnt feel like training up Farfetchd before the fighting gym, so just used Azumarill to go through it and didnt have too much trouble. I went straight to the Steel Gym as well, where I finally started to see some use for Sudowoodo, because he was the only thing that could really touch Steel-type. After that, I headed to the Lake Rage and Rocket Base and used that as the training for Farfetchd, which actually worked pretty well.

Possibly the best surprise so far is that I taught Sunflora Hidden Power, and it ended up being Fire-type, which is not only amazing (since I dont have a lot of elemental coverage on this team) but also so fitting for a sunflower pokemon. I am now forever disappointed that they didn't make Sunflora a Grass / Fire type 😅

Sudowoodo also worked pretty well against the Ice types in Pryce's gym. Im glad he's finally becoming helpful, because there was a stretch there where I almost stopped using him entirely and made him an HM carrier. Renamed my Furret to Fearret because Barker sounded too friendly for a pokemon that has expansive coverage and nearly one shots most pokemon he fights lol. Im now in the middle of the Rockets at radio tower, but once I finish that up, Ill be going to get the last member of my team with Piloswine!

Update 4.5
Rather than make a whole new post, just quick update for now! Got through Rocket tower, which was great for leveling up, but geeeeez I do not remember getting Poisoned that much. Its like every pokemon knows sludge, and it seemd like 50% of the time it poisoned. But still got through it! Updated the team as well.

3rd Update!
Spoiler:

I've been playing but totally forgetting to post updates (if anyone even reads these lol)

I FINALLY saved up enough to afford Flamethrower at the game corner, so I got to evolve my eevee :) I then headed too the Safari Zone and caught member number 5: Doduo. After a little training, I took on Koga and with an overleveled psychic type, it wasn't bad at all. And now with the ability to surf, I went back to the safari zone and caught the final member of Psyduck. Ive been saving up rare candies, so quickly evolved both new members. At this point, the team is nearly complete, just waiting to evolve Jigglypuff until she learns Hypervoice.

Honestly, this team kind of rocks?!?! Each one is great and Im confused why Ive never tried any of them before. Seriously, Dodrio is a boss! Im having no trouble at all, and this is probably the most overlevelled Ive ever been in a Kanto Game (thanks overpriced Flamethrower TM lol). Im curious to see where my levels are for the E4. For some reason in Kanto games, I always seem to be way underlevelled when I get there and actually struggle with them, but Im already having level 40s and I still have 3 more badges to go. I honestly forget how the battle with Erika went, but Im in the middle of Silph Co and then will move on to Sabrina
