Did you ever forgot computer login password?

I have 3 female colleagues who forgot their computer login password and asked me to unlock the device. Turn out the password is pretty simple.

Does this happen to you?

Homeskulled Kid December 27th, 2018 4:08 AM

Shockingly, yes. That's what I get for adding numbers to it! I may even have bloody dyscalculia - my capacity for remembering numbers, the structure of equations and anything remotely numerical is gobsmackingly bad. In layman's terms, I'm rubbish.

there was that time when windows 10 was just released and i just updated my dad's laptop. it prompted me to make an account for my dad. didn't think that it would set up password lock for the OS. i set a sentence as a password and i forgot what it was. panicked until i remembered that i wrote the password down on paper for my dad hahahaha

Tsutarja December 28th, 2018 9:52 AM

Hardly ever, to be honest.

Kai December 28th, 2018 11:30 AM

I don't recall forgetting any of them for more than a moment since my passwords are fairly simple.

If so that, why did they forget their password?
I cracked the password once on my computer with this tool , and since then I have kept all the passwords in an obvious place (Only i know)

Maki-Nishikino December 30th, 2018 3:34 PM

honestly the only thing I can say to this is that you might have typed it too fast. plus you can always peek at the password you've typed in as well before actually pressing enter

Usually just general mistypes, if I forgot my password I'd be in trouble because I'd be completely locked out of my Microsoft account...

colours December 31st, 2018 1:38 AM

Nope. It's one of the things I'm least likely to forget, actually.

Sylphiel December 31st, 2018 8:23 AM

I've forgotten plenty of passwords, but uh, I don't think ever the one I use to login to a computer of mine. That one's always going to be one of the passwords I actually remember.

alisaie December 31st, 2018 1:00 PM

me forgetting my passwords is a thing of mine i should really write down which one i'm using for which site sometime.

but as for my computer itself once when i got a brand new computer i managed to put my new password in wrong twice so when i tried logging in after it did all it's set-up stuff i couldn't get in hahah. good thing that it was literally new so fixing it was easy.

No need. I can either unlock my MacBook with my fingerprint or my Apple Watch.

I'm screwed if I have to enter my pass at some point, though.

Never, I can't forget it because I use it daily.

malanaphii January 2nd, 2019 9:55 AM

i have multiple passwords so i'll often forget which password i'm using for whatever account, but i've never forgotten what those passwords are (it just sometimes takes me 4 different tries to get into an account because i try each password lol)

Even you forgot the login password, don't reinstall the OS immediately. It is a stupid move as there are better solutions out there without losing data.

For Windows: https://www.androidphonesoft.com/resources/bypass-windows-10-7-8-password.html
For Mac: https://www.macworld.co.uk/how-to/mac/forgotten-mac-password-3594395/

I use a password manager so I only need to remember 1 password.

A password manager? If all accounts are set to the same password, I think security will be affected.

That's not what password manager means.

I do use somewhat similar passwords everywhere except for to my computers, so it actually can get confusing when I switch between the four of them sometimes haha.

Zalainama May 6th, 2019 2:38 AM

yes, and that i have reinstalled my OS

Vragon2.0 May 14th, 2019 9:40 AM

Chose one I would never forget.
Tends to help, though I would say I don't always do that practice due to how passwords need to be longer to be well...effective.

Taemin May 14th, 2019 10:29 AM

I log in with my windows live email and password, so nope!

EmTheGhost May 14th, 2019 2:38 PM

My computer login password is the only password I don't forget.

hotsushi-kun May 15th, 2019 7:17 AM

I do usually forget my password everytime, usually when i forgot some website i have never used before and if i wrote it incorrectly. These are the only thing i knew so far.

This also happens when i reinstall my computer.

ZeoStar May 23rd, 2019 7:34 AM

Not to my computer, but I've forgotten other passwords.
