yo angie!!! i'm just dealing with a second rainy day in a row. kinda over rain at this point orz

pkmin3033 January 3rd, 2019 8:28 AM

I've been dealing with the worst migraine imaginable this afternoon. Being unable to do anything but sit because of pain isn't the way I would have chosen to spend one of the last days off I have before I go back to work...

...the movie was alright, at least. Honestly sometimes I wish I hadn't read any comics growing up; at least then I wouldn't be painfully aware that 90% of superhero movies are badly plagiarised from amazing comic book storylines. The other 10% are either original or just borrow lightly and for good effect.

p sure the pc app was trashed a long time ago

the newer ui that's currently in development is much more mobile friendly but it isn't quite ready for release yet.

pkmin3033 January 3rd, 2019 11:20 AM

Needs more dark skins; it's definitely not eye-friendly, at least to me. xD

Can finally look at screens again for longer than a few minutes...

colours January 3rd, 2019 11:22 AM

midnight misty is the queen of all dark skins atm

pkmin3033 January 3rd, 2019 11:25 AM

I'd like one without the painful white text...something like Hypno's skin, maybe. I've grown so accustomed to every page I visit having a dark mode that I'm becoming more intolerant of white generally.

Homeskulled Kid January 3rd, 2019 11:57 AM

My main qualm with websites is the constant lack of contrast between colours and the minuteness of text. They claim that reading small things doesn't destroy your eyesight, but in what universe is straining your eyes a good thing? Unless it's looking at tiny thumbnails of Daisy Ridley, of course. I'm sure that malanaphii sympathises.

For example, I've got this website jacked to 125%. I've got to preserve the peepers.

... but if I ever have need for glasses, it'll be because I've spent too much time staring dead-eyed at pictures of beautiful people. They make me feel refreshed and happy, and often give me that dose of inspiration I need to write about incredible levels of violence and depravity.

That doesn't sound so good out loud.

Therein lies the joys of double agency! You can manoeuvre yourself into either company and be accepted. So when there's a Straight Thread, should there be a revolution, one can shimmy over there.

It's like being a bat. You can chill with the birds, then go hang with the animals (geddit) and everything is bu to the most tickety of standards.

Glad to have shed the childishness of crushes, though. Now I'm just 'in passion' with people. Its very separate from love and lust, though: it's a mad, obsessive, unjustified fondness for another person that'd make you crawl through glass for them just because their mien ticks all the right boxes. You don't even have to be attracted to them. For me, something asexual comes into play because I respect them too much to fawn over them. That's not to say that attraction comes independent of respect, but attraction sort of muddies the waters. You're more likely to get hurt, it seems, even if you're just an observer.

I highly recommend being in passion.

pkmin3033 January 5th, 2019 6:22 AM

I'm alright with being in love.

Because most folks want to be happy and cheerful. Who really wants to be level and uncurved?

pkmin3033 January 5th, 2019 6:28 AM

I think I'd rather be consistently stable than occasionally happy...mostly because "occasionally" usually means "once in a blue moon" or similar...

she posted a picture out of drag where she looked like kris jenner, a lot of people mentioned it as a joke and then she blocked every single person who mentioned it lmao (which is valid i guess bc she didn't like it but she'd tweeted me like 2 days before so it was v sudden)

Good lord, physical labour calls to me from the nadir of the abyss. I literally have to stand there, and like, pick up pieces of wire and hand them over. In between eating biscuits, of course, because my blood sugar is an insatiable mistress who seeks to choke all of the sense out of my brain before choking me, full stop.

Who else gets low blood sugar?

Feel free to continue with your drag queen discussion, only I have absolutely nothing to impart. I'm too jacked up on reading He-Man and the Masters of the Universe, and crafting voodoo dolls of He-Man and gouging out his cottony liver because, I mean, come on. You can't fuck around with Skeletor, my soulmate of soulmates, and get away with it.

Anyway, I hate flying as well. I've heard so many horror stories about autistic people getting kicked off for whatever reasons. It scares me because I've never flown myself, and I'm not really sure what to expect. My parents always tell me that flying isn't bad, so they don't seem to understand my fears for flying. :c

A lot of airports and airlines offer varying degrees of assistance for people with hidden disabilities :)

There is no chance I could ever fly without it.

Flying isn't actually that scary after the first time. Initially I was pretty nervous because OMFG PLANE AIR SO HIGH but eventually I calmed down and now it's super duper easy. I can plug in my headphones and clock out or flip open my laptop and get some work done. I can even sit next to window seats now!

it's pretty hefty but it helps that it's a month payment to pay for the passes. the cheapest pass is like less than 20$ a month though you're limited to weekdays and you can't go over the summer or during certain weeks of the month. pretty sure univeral and busch garden's works the same way (my brother has a busch gardens pass he got me these rly cute decorative plates for christmas from there)

as a general rule if you're a florida native you should buy annual passes anyway assuming you make a habit of going to theme parks. rising ticket prices is one of the many reasons why and it's really just kind of cost-effective in the long run.

professor plum January 6th, 2019 8:27 PM

idk i guess personally the magic doesn't really wear off everytime i go there. it's really hard to get bored

animal kingdom was amazing though and i daresay it was slightly above magic kingdom itself as far as enjoyable experiences go

that's exactly what i've been telling my bf, but he's like i'm pretty sure we're too old to go

but we had fun at universal
so.....

i feel like if it was between disney v universal i'd just choose universal, that is if we're comparing just magic kingdom to universal and islands of adventure. plus i mean... i can't argue with butterbeer.

there seems like a lot more to do at universal compared to disney which is kind of an interesting take but i gotta be honest the only rides that interested me personally was space mountain and i think riding go karts the last time i went to disney. i also went on it's a small world but that's because the last time i've been on it, i was three years old so going on it 20 years later was just mindblowing.

most other things are geared towards kids yes and i think where disney shines for the most part is the parades which are really enjoyable to see but it can be tough to get a good view. restaurants are also pretty decent but they are absurdly overpriced. assuming your wallet can handle the pain, the experience actually isn't bad. but personally i feel like you get more bang from your buck at universal, but maybe that's just me.

actually one of my goals is either to visit blizzard beach or typhoon lagoon which are both disney water parks! i've always felt like i wouldn't be a huge fan of water parks but at the same time i feel like i haven't given them a proper chance so i really want to this time around.

If I made a 'bucket list' I think going to every Disney theme park in the world would probably be on there. I've done Florida and Paris and I hope I can get Hong Kong done in the next 7 months, I've finally found someone else interested in going!

pkmin3033 January 6th, 2019 10:33 PM

I'd just like to go to Rome this year...I'll worry about what comes after, after. xD;

You can never be too old for Disney :)

If I didn't live on the other side of the atlantic, I'd be there all the time!

Tsutarja January 7th, 2019 4:47 AM

There's a lot I want to do in this country before I even consider traveling abroad! :o Like I wanna visit NYC again (because doing it at age 14 you kinda forget stuff)

Whereas I always wanted to get out of the UK as soon as I could to start seeing completely different parts of the world. It's only after having done that I found an appreciation and interest in my own country. (I went to other countries growing up but I wouldn't call that travel as my family aren't exactly the adventurous type)

pkmin3033 January 7th, 2019 5:46 AM

As long as I need as much medication as I do, I don't think I would ever want to leave the UK...I shudder to imagine the cost of healthcare in the US for someone like me. There's also the weather. I am actually thinking of moving to Scotland if I can just to get away from the warmer temperatures down south. If we have another summer this year like the one last year I will break down and cry...

The cost of US healthcare is ridiculous and not the norm around the world so I wouldn't let that put you off travelling (especially for short trips), they're the exception and not the rule.

When I was over for a short stint in summer it was noticeably hotter than the last time I spent a summer there, I think now is finally time we should embrace AC.

That's good to know, because there are a few other places I'd love to visit if I ever get the money and the time...which seems unlikely, but even so.

AC costs a fortune in the UK, but if summers keep getting hotter and drier we're going to need it...6 weeks without rain is not okay.

see the only part of Universal I really enjoyed was Harry Potter World tbh. Beyond that? Eh. It was ok. We were able to experience everything relevant to us within like 48 hours.

that's the damned tea if there ever was any. It's ridiculous!

Trev January 7th, 2019 7:39 AM

(yeets past healthcare discussion) I’ve never been to Disneyworld, and honestly, I don’t know that I ever will. I hear horror stories about ridiculous wait times and huge crowds constantly. Plus, spending a whole day in the heat surrounded by screaming children just doesn’t sound fun at all.

Tsutarja January 7th, 2019 7:42 AM

Thunder Mountain and Space Mountain were the most popular rides at the time I went. Other than that, wait times weren't too bad.

Fastpass though

EC January 7th, 2019 7:51 AM

The theory is that they keep raising the prices each year to combat the crowd issues, but nothing stops the crowds!

pkmin3033 January 7th, 2019 8:16 AM

I wish I'd gone to Disneyworld when Disney was actually good, and not the shitshow it is now. They ruined Marvel, they ruined Star Wars...sigh...

alisaie January 7th, 2019 8:26 AM

Its... still good? Disneyworld i mean. Sure theyre starting to add marvel and star wars into the parks but honestly as of right now the only two major changes are Pandora (which is reaally pretty asthetically i love walking through pandora) and toy story land which is also rly cute and fun! Yes there is a star wars ride at hollywood studios but its been there for a long as i can remember lol.

I mean ig there is also the star wars thing that goes on at hollywood studios too but ehh. Easily you can ignore and if you want a show better off seeing fantasmic anyways

When sis and i were debating getting universal over disney again we chose disney bc of the asthetic. Sometimes just walking around the parks is enough for us and we feel its not the same for universal thats more about the rides.

colours January 7th, 2019 9:09 AM

yeah if you're the type of person that's more about the rides, then universal is better. disney is better for scenery and all that.

Taemin January 7th, 2019 9:09 AM

It's a goal of mine to go to Disneyworld or Disneyland someday, because I've never been to either one, but I know everyone says you should go at least once!

Also, if you have the chance, go to EPCOT this year before Summer hits and they begin to replace Illuminations with IP-driven shows.

Homeskulled Kid January 7th, 2019 12:16 PM

I've only been to a few themeparks during my life, really. A severe exaggeration, seeing as how they weren't themed. At all. But they had the usual activities, and like every other child I was rich in naivety and bravado, and inevitably I went on a ride I wasn't prepared for. Screamed. A lot. Consolation presented itself in the form of a giant dog toy that I won and still have, but I'm pretty sure the attendant thought I cheated. I want to track her down and shake her by the shoulders and shout 'I didn't bloody cheat! I had the numbers! I had the friggin' numbers!' but its a lot of effort.

Wouldn't mind going to Disneyland or some such place. Could be fun.
