Articuno Help

I found Articuno, and I got its hp so close that you can hardly tell it had any, I also put it to sleep and when that wore off, paralyzed it. I used 27 ultra balls on it when it was in those conditions with almost no hp and it still wouldn't be caught!

Anyone else have this problem?

Chairman Kaga June 16th, 2005 5:05 PM

Believe it or not, I became incredibly bored to day and decided to catch Articuno on LG. You're doing everything right, it's just a matter of slim chance whether any certain ball will work. By sheer chance I got mine after paralysis, heavy damage, and 15 Ultra Balls. Either keep trying, or if it continues to fail, go to Two Island for some Timer Balls and stall Articuno as long as you can.

DeathScape June 16th, 2005 5:21 PM

I asked this question in Simple Questions, but uh:

Where do I go to get him? What do I do to get him?

jc_rcw June 16th, 2005 5:45 PM

I think out of the three birds, articuno is the hardest on to catch

Legendary Birds June 16th, 2005 5:56 PM

Deathscape he's found in the seafoam islands, and once you get there here is a map to reach him : http://www.neoseeker.com/resourcelink.html?rlid=73711&rid=68128

I have to say that the only way to catch the Legendary Birds, or any hard-to-catch Pokemon is: be persistant. Keep trying, lower its health, throw heaps of Poke-bals, different ones too, mixing up combinations, status moves. It is possible to catch them, otherwise there would be no point. Patience.

Emerald Queen June 17th, 2005 3:50 AM

In my experience, you'll never catch a Legendary bird unless it's asleep or has been paralysed. Even then, it's a hard task. All you can do is buy as many ultra balls as you can, or use a master ball.

Happy Dude June 17th, 2005 4:06 AM

if you try hard enough they aren't that hard just be patitent.

Latias_fan June 17th, 2005 5:13 AM

jc rcw? I heard Moltres was the hardest to capture. Legendary Birds I got Artincno on FR.

Legendary Birds June 17th, 2005 7:03 AM

Yeah I guess i'll try throwing my 27 ultra balls again...

I've already got the other 2 birds, but Moltres was probably the easiest to catch for me.. Although I did catch Mewtwo in only 3 ultra balls, so maybe that's come back to haunt me... lol

They all have the same catch rate. Anyhoo it was best when I only had like 5 minutes till I had to go somewhere so I just had a quick bash at catching moltres (1st time I tried) I just used surf and it went down to about 5% health then i just chucked an ultra ball and it got caught. it was quite funny. Anyhoo believe in the nest balls and you will suceed. they are better than ultra balls for catching bird pokes.

Legendary Birds June 17th, 2005 7:21 AM

This is probably a stupid question but, where do you get nest balls?

Sceptile_Master June 17th, 2005 8:22 AM

The only ones in fire or leaf are hidden in giovannis room in the rocket hideout I think. But once you have collected one and if you are at the point where you can fight the 2nd wave of the elite four then you can buy them from one of the islands (can't remember which) for $1,000 each. lternately you can import them form ruby and sapphire. This will also allow you to buy them from the same place.

There are no boulders there in my game.

code zerro the deluge June 17th, 2005 9:37 AM

That would be Two Island, I believe. You can also get Timer Balls there which I have found very convenient when it comes to catching difficult pokemon. They helped me out immensely on Colosseum.

Emerald Queen June 17th, 2005 11:15 AM

Yes, nest balls can be bought at the mart on Island 2, but only after you've beaten the elite four a number of times (not sure how many) The mart adds new items to it's list at intervals: they also end up stocking soda pop, lemonade and lava cookies, for those who want cheap status healers

Chairman Kaga June 17th, 2005 6:25 PM

Mmhmm, I think it takes two defeats of the Elite Four in order to get all available items on Two Island. If you still need Articuno and can't seem to get it, you may just have to bite the bullet and get through the Elite Four twice.

Kingdra Champion June 17th, 2005 9:54 PM

i caught all my lengendary birdys with out doing a condition. Zapdos 9 ultraballs 1 pokeball, Moltres 1 ultraball, Articuno 33 pokeballs 2 ultraballs

Dee Trier June 17th, 2005 10:20 PM

It just The matter of luck. Keep on trying and you will get it.
For me its articuno who the hardest too catch

Legendary Birds June 18th, 2005 9:11 AM

Yea I finally got Articuno last night! It took me like 10 ultra balls and 5 great balls, but it was worth it! I just used all the balls leftover from my catching mewtwo preparation. :D I guess it was bad luck the first 2 times using all 27 ultra balls... lol

LegendaryPokemonTamer June 18th, 2005 9:59 AM

It took me 16 or more Ultra Balls to catch my friend's Articuno for her then I acted like it fainted (she almost threw up). Moltres was easy to catch because I used a Masterball but then caught Articuno (2nd) and then destroyed Zapdos, then *pant* caught Mewtwo with Ultra balls. Also Articuno was a 85% easy for me to catch it. I always remebered the huge boulders that were kinda tricky the first time.

Kingdra Champion June 19th, 2005 4:17 AM

oh holy camoly, u used ur master ball on moltres. i used my at my lengendary doggy. u shouldn't do that, that's my suggestion. well i don't care if you do that. i was amazed to see the first kid that use master ball on a normal lengendary. and my friend used is master ball on a magikarp for REAL. but he started a new game.

Chairman Kaga June 19th, 2005 10:07 AM

I save my Master Ball for the first shiny I encounter in the game (except on RSE, when it's reserved for [email protected]) My Shiny Venonat on LG was captured by a master ball, but for good reason--all my pokemon would have koed it in one hit, and I only had great balls and a nest ball with me. It was cautionary.

Congrats on your big catch, Legendary Birds. I knew you could do it.

Bashaamo June 19th, 2005 7:22 PM

So you're not the only one. I have that problem, too. And Articuno is actually my favorite out of Zapdos, mOltres and himself!
