Suggest It!

Well, I have decided to make a Suggestion thread. I want to know what you guys want so I can make things lively. I'm willing to listen to what you have in mind. I have a few ideas of my own, but I want to see if you guys have anything better.

NOTE: This is just for the TCG section and not for the Fake Card sub-forum.

Sauber C9 June 22nd, 2005 9:38 PM

Hmmm... I personally think that the CotD's clutter the forum up a lot. Maybe have just one thread, and the current card is updated. A possibility.

Oh, and I'm not a noob, I'm Esperante from Serebii.

Bullados June 23rd, 2005 4:29 AM

or, create a subforum for COTDs. I would like to see subforums for each of these...

Deck help and strategy
Trading (post disclaimers about selling and how PC isn't responsible)
COTD
Organized Play

That would be a start into making this site a more respectable TCG message board. thank you for listening.

Sauber C9 June 23rd, 2005 8:29 AM

Yes... The Deck Help one is needed very much as well. Trading and organized play to a lesser extent... trading would need more than a couple diff. threads, one for posting up the cards you're trading and one for confirming your trades.

Organised play could just stay in the main section, or at least that's what I think.

Bullados June 23rd, 2005 3:42 PM

except, every time I post a topic about OP in my area, it either gets deleted or locked immediately. The OP section would be a place where people could post their local leagues/tourneys and/or Premier events without being locked out.

Gokey Shuckle June 23rd, 2005 4:31 PM

The major problem with this is that the TCG section is not very active. It would see less amount of use. However, I will suggest it to admins and stuff. COTD will remain the way it is until a thread is created for it and I will merge or delete the rest.

I do like these ideas, and it could work.

Kylie-chan July 13th, 2005 6:53 PM

There are too many stickies. ^^;;;; They clutter up the page.

Gokey Shuckle July 13th, 2005 7:49 PM

I know. Some of them will be put in other forums when and if the TCG section improves.

This is a great deal, please help me sell these... Send the link around, thanks!

Gokey Shuckle November 7th, 2005 7:22 PM

Pokemon1337, please don't SPAM here. What you posted has nothing to do with the topic.

MOON~DANCER November 24th, 2005 11:15 AM

i think everyone should start getting ex delta speices and ex unseen forces cards and ex emerald

Cy-Chan January 21st, 2006 3:22 PM

A create-a-card sticky... just text though, for lazy people who like to fake...

Gokey Shuckle January 21st, 2006 3:47 PM

I'll think about it......

Please stay on topic. I'll let it go, but please don't do it again. Thanks.

mediamanz July 16th, 2006 1:14 PM

Maybe seperate it into a collection subforum and a discussion subforum to talk about the TCG in the discussion foruma and post information on your collection or what you are looking for in the Collection subforum.

Jaimes August 23rd, 2006 6:39 AM

IMO the TCG section is very cluttered and easy to result in people posting in the wrong subforum.
IN particular however, I think that Trading/Selling posts should be allowed (at each persons own risk) and OP links and details for tournaments/leagues. Because this encourages the game.

IMO a good layout would be something along the lines of:

Pokemon TCG News & Discussion (including Spoilers etc)
Pokemon TCG Deck & Strategies (including a small subforum for COTD)
Pokemon TCG Trading/Selling
Pokemon TCG OP (including discussions of major tournaments eg Worlds)
Pokemon TCG Whatever doesnt fit (fake cards come to mind).

icycatelf September 28th, 2006 3:19 PM

Maybe translations of Pokemon cards that were never release to America;
I really want a translation for the old Bubble Mew card from the PokeBall set.

Gokey Shuckle February 25th, 2007 10:23 PM

An new section is coming...wait and see...

Being brand new to the game, I would like a place that I can ask all the good people of this forum for help with "TCG". I have several questions, some most of you Veterans may think will be silly to ask, but they're important to me. I have two small children that really want to learn this game. I've read the rules, and some things I need solutions and ideas on. My ultimate goal is to set up a local league for the local kids in the community, I just want to have the knowledge behind me before I do. Can you good people help a rookie out???

Just investigate the Pokemon Trading Card Game portion of the forum.

I'd love to see a trading/selling subforum. Most forums including trading have great success.

Just a thought.

I agree, trading & selling cards online should be allowed (its pretty much the objective of a TCG). A start would be to alter Rule #5 so that threads can be made.

Since I came back, I also noticed that COTD is too cluttery. I mean on the front page of the 20 or so posts over half of them are COTD ones.

Usually I only look at/post in the COTD ones that interest me (very few) because there are loads. If there were fewer COTDs coming out, I would be more inclined to post, since with fewer topics, the discussion would be better and the thread would be less likely to be knocked to the bottom of the page by more COTDs.
I'd suggest about 2 or 3 cards a week. :\

Also I don't see the point of this rule(?)
Quote:

3.) YOU MUST RATE THE CARD IF YOU ARE REPLYING. When rating a card, you MUST give a valid reason why you gave them that rating. Effective 7/2: You also MUST leave a number rating if you are reviewing it. This applies for Fake Cards too. No wacky ratings like 546465/666606060. Keep it out of 5 or 10 or give it out of 5 stars or something. Aslong as it's sensible and real.
Erm why exactly? This rule makes me want to post less in any COTD sections. If I see something worth making a small comment on (like somebody makes an error or I just want to chip in a few thoughts) I would, but then Id have to rate the card as well? Effort really ;).
But anyway I think this rule is useless. Its basically a restriction to posting and doesn't exactly benefit anyone really. If an average was taken or the ratings were stored, then maybe so.
Eitherway to actually rate a card accurately is easier said than done. Most ratings I've seen are quite debateable.

Just my 2 pence.:)

The only reason I don't want to start trading threads is because of rippers and thiefs. Then n00bs would try to hold us accountable for not getting their cards. Then we would have to do all this stuff with IP checks, telling them what mail fraud is, reinstating the rep system, getting iTrader on the forums, etc. I don't think the admins will approve because I asked them before. If I started trade threads without permission, it would be my head. :P

I encourage people all the time to make other threads besides COTD. If you are so concerned, make a discussion topic. Make a topic about a local tournament, or make a topic about bad and illegal moves people have made when you battle them. Anything would be good. If it means that I have to lessen the COTD, then I will, but you and the other members have to do their part by making other threads also. Just because I am a mod, doesn't mean I always have to start different topics.

I'm willing to do 3 cards a week, but even so, will people post more with less COTD? I mean will the Daily TCG become more active? How come no one talks about the new sets in the Daily Chit-Chat, or start a new thread about the set? It bugs me that people can't make topics about the TCG to lessen the COTD threads. I'll try my best to encourage people and I will change a few things with COTD, but I want dedication from the members who visit as well.

I made this rule because I noticed a lot of the n00bs posting "I really like this card" or "This card sucks" without elaborating why the card is good or bad. I want people to comment on cards and cause discussion about them like it has been in the past. I also expect people who see the one sentence posts above to report them, but I hardly ever see reports in the TCG section for whatever reason. I don't really think it's much effort after a person is done writing out a big review to add two or three numbers and a slash at the end of a post. After each COTD I say "Rate & Review" not either or. However, nothing is stopping you from not rating OR reviewing. If you are replying, and reviewing, you must rate, however, if you feel the need to correct someone, rating is not necessary. I could reword it so it's more clear.

I really have no issues with people correcting others as long as it's not mean-spirited.

I'm just trying to do my best to prevent spam really. You can post whatever you want in a TCG topic, but if you are reviewing, you must rate. It's good reference for people building decks.

Then debate. That's what I want to see. Debate with them on why they gave them that rating. Don't be mean or crass however. But yeah, if you feel like debating, then do so. I don't really mind.

Much appreciated. I will reword rule 3 so it's more clear. COTD is reduced to 3 nights a week (M/W/F).

Jaimes July 25th, 2007 1:40 AM

Thanks very much for you reply and taking in some of my points into consideration. Guess I'll contribute some news to the front page too.

Cheers. ^_^

I'd be more than happy to make threads about official sets if you want. Only current sets, mind (so DP and MT at the moment and Shining Darkness at a later date), but like you say, I think people will have things to say about these sets.
