Latios Modest(+SpAtk,-Atk)
~Dragon Claw

Latias Modest (+SpAtk,-Atk)

Metagross Adamant(+Atk,-SpAtk)
~Agility
~Meteor MAsh
~Earthquake
~Sludge Bomb/Explosion

Alter Ego June 26th, 2005 6:31 AM

I'm not much into legendary Pokémon (ordinary ones have so much more potential) so I'll just focus on the ones I know:

Milotic:
Item: Leftovers
Nature: Bold (-Attack, +Defense) or Modest (-Attack, +Sp. Attack)
Ice Beam
Surf
Mirror Coat (Practically no special attack can take down Milotic with one hit, and counter attacks are lethal against strong opponents (2x the damage recieved))
Recover (Because you take a lot of damage when using Mirror Coat in succession)

Metagross:
Adamant (+Attack. -Sp. Attack)
Item: Leftovers or Scope Lens
Agility (Because Metagross is really slow)
Shadow Ball (Together with Brick Break this allows you to bypass any resistances)
Brick Break
Meteor Mash/Earthquake/Explosion (To deal some heavier damage, Explosion is great when combined with Agility)

Smarties-chan June 26th, 2005 6:41 AM

I would say Milotic nature Calm or Modest and the same moveset Alter Ego (my bro) suggested and for Metagross
Any nature that raises speed or attack
Agility
Shadowball
Brickbreak/Earthquake
Meteor Mash/Explosion.

So, basically the same as mine then?

By the way, I've come up with a potential moveset for a Physical Sweeper Latios:

Nature:Adamant (-Sp. Attack, +Attack) or Jolly (-Sp. Attack, +Speed)
Item:Leftovers
Shadow Ball
Hidden Power:Fighting
Earthquake
Dragon Dance

Buff up at a suitable spot and let the carnage begin.

no calm mind on [email protected]? give them calm mind, thunderbolt, dragon claw recover

husk1442 June 26th, 2005 2:35 PM

I like going all out with latios, since he has more SpAtk to start with

BTW if you go with Dragon Claw you need HP: fire

good point. flameclaw is just as good as boltbeam. i thought it could learn flamethrower though. most non-uber dragons can learn flamethrower/fire blast (not kingdra) so why cant [email protected]? *cries*

1) Latais can get more CMs off, making it's Sp.atk higher.

2) you don't. I'd go with STAB instead of neutural effectiveness.

3) I'd go with T-bolt/Ice Beam.

if you want to act cool and professional please get your facts right

Which is why I recommended Calm Mind for Latias and blatant attacking for Latios.

2) you don't. I'd go with STAB instead of neutural effectiveness.

STAB means Dragon Claw, right? Which should be paired with HP:Fire

3) I'd go with T-bolt/Ice Beam.

I thought "you'd go with STAB"

Seriously read before you post

Alter Ego June 27th, 2005 1:29 AM

There is a slight hitch with an all-out Latios: Wobbuffet. It has 500+ HP and is very unlikely to faint from a single attack, leaving it a chance to strike back with Mirror Coat (Something I seriously doubt Latios could withstand) or use Destiny Bond. It's Shadow Tag ability prevents withdrawal too so it might be a good idea to replace either Thunderbolt or Ice Beam with Recover or Calm Mind. Just a thought...

husk1442 June 27th, 2005 9:47 AM

if wobbuffet is the only problem I don't see why you wouldn't use it

esp. if it can encore you calm minds and switch to the appropriate counter

also, wobbuffet will be hit hard on the switch and then hit hard again
so even if latios dies to a mirror coat wobba is also finished

Alter Ego June 27th, 2005 12:00 PM

I see your point, but:

In addition to Wobbufet I would say Milotic (It sure withstood a Kyogre's Thunder) or Svampert would also be able to Mirror Coat good ol' Latios to oblivion. Also, Wobbuffet wouldn't be hit on the switch if the Pokémon that was switched in would fight to the death. Besides, I've used a Wobbuffet before (until I found out that it was branded 'Uber') and I seriously doubt that an unbuffed Latios could deal much more than 300 damage on one go without a critical hit (At least none of them did against me). This would leave Wobbuffet with over 200 HP which (Paired with Leftovers, or even better: A wish from another Pokémon) could get it back on its feet pretty quick.

Psychic, actually.

Super Effective HP fire BARELY does more than Psychic on the same target. like 2% of HP more.

mixing subjects.

if you are using Dragon Claw, I'd pair it with psychic. but in general, I'd use Boltbeam.

I just wasn't being clear, sorry 'bout that.

Ice demon June 27th, 2005 7:01 PM

dragon claw + HP fire gives absolute type coverage.
ie nothing resists it.

Datriot June 28th, 2005 5:42 AM

My best Pokemon!
Mewtwo
LV: 100
HP:397
Attack:281
Defence:278
Speed:297
Sp. Attack: 386
Sp. Defence:289

PS: I did use calcium and other stat-raising itmes.

Moveset:
Water Pulse
Recover
Psychic
Swift

husk1442 June 28th, 2005 5:48 AM

What good is psychic, its not helping you hit anything you were NVE against, with Dragon Claw. Yes its SE against fighting types and poison types which are known to sport low special defenses (save the hitmon's who have low HP).

and can't everyone who does't guaranteed ohko something be 'countered' or 'mirror coated'

anyway if it does, say, 300 on the switch then when it goes first on the next turn it will K.O. Wobbuffet. O rly wish support, well if you wish support your wobbuffet someone will lose their latios and then you will lose your wobbuffet on the consequent turn which ruins your whole strategy. =/

I'd retry that... your Special attack and Speed are fairly (read as: very) low for a Mewtwo. W/ Mewtwo, you want to have as much speed and special attack as humanly possible. Also- Water Pulse? Swift? QTF?

Charizard_Fire_God July 3rd, 2005 9:55 AM

Tch. Latias is better because she can get defensive roles in battles an' anyways I think annoyers kinda pwn sweepers.

Nope, indirect attacks (e.g. Metronome, Sandstorm, Hail, Leech Seed, Doom Desire and Future Sight) can't be countered, Ghost types are immune to Counter, Dark types are immune to Mirror Coat, Sableye is consequently immune to all counter attacks, and status attacks can't be countered by Wobbuffet.

My point was that if the pokémon before Wobbuffet would fight until it was KOd then Latios wouldn't get the free attack from a switch in (Since such an event doesn't occur), Wobbuffet would survive Latios' next attack (Which it would have to make, since it can't retreat because of Shadow Tag and lacks non-damaging moves) and be able to Mirror Coat it which would inevitably lead to Latios getting knocked out. At this point, another pokémon (Say, Umbreon for instance) is switched in and makes a wish, and switches out, if the opponent uses a Fighting move (Which would be logical since Umbreon is a dark type) then Wobbuffet would easily survive the attack and recieve 250+ HP from Wish, which would be sufficient to knock out the current opponent. A Wobbuffet with sufficient Speed could then D-Bond the next pokémon and would have successfully KOed half the party (A fairly good achievement imo).

All I'm saying is, there's a counter for every build.

Iveechan July 5th, 2005 1:53 PM

Water (surf) and Dragon also give full type coverage.

Neither Machamp's hp or special defense are low.

Charizard_Fire_God, give credit to Jax for your avatar.

then why did you post, IMO if you use two pokemon to beat latios, then it has already did its job.

Nice job at finding exceptions to the stuff I posted guys ;), I realize some of you don't realize I generalize sometimes; since the majority of pokemon can be beat by wobbafett, I posted that is not uncommon for it to be beat by it. You act like you are posting something constructive and everyone is learning from it, =/ you are severly mistaken.

So, I guess wobbafett counters everything that isn't using those 6 moves (or status or a few select pokemon using select moves) and psychic is useless against everything but, machamp, who is a UU pokemon and we are discussing the uber metagame. Not to mention the best he can do is HP: ghost you.

lots of people have thought it, so yeah dun feel bad... (yes me too, im not all that great at netbattling/moveset making).

oh yeah and i think flameclaw is better that boltbeam cus it hits... everything. or more things.

mewtwo doesn't have to have recover... its good if you're more conservative though.

There are more than those six moves (Just didn't feel like posting them all). But this seems to be a pointless argument in which neither party is willing to accept the other one's point of view so let's just drop it before it detoriates to a flame war, okay?

CipherDakim12 July 6th, 2005 4:01 PM

mewtwo:
Calm Mind
Psychic
Flamethrower
Thunder

milotic:
Surf
Ice Beam
Toxic
Recover

latias and latios:
Dragon Claw
Psychic
Thunderbolt
Fire Blast

metagross:
Meteor Mash
Psychic
Shadow Ball
Earthquake

Try that!
