The Dream Weavers
The Dream Weavers Dreams. Everyone has them. Some people don't remember them at all when they wake up. Some remember bits and pieces. Then there are some who remember dreams vividly; people who enjoy keeping dream journals; who have interesting, in-depth, or lucid dreams. The Dream Weavers club is for such people to share their dreams, talk about lucid dreaming techniques, dream interpretation, and discuss nightmares, pleasant dreams, or anything in between. This is a place where dreamers come together to converse about the second lives we all lead when we lay our heads down for sleep. Rules

Questionnaire What's your most recent dream (or nightmare)? I don't remember last night's dream (pretty tumultuous sleep) but I remember the previous night's dream. Dreamt that Tim Burton's Sweeney Todd, Mrs. Lovett, and Tobias were all transported into our world. I was able to tell Todd about his life with Lovett, the secrets she was keeping, how she caused his (accepted) death, and about his wife being alive. When I told him this, we were transported back to his world and I showed him everything I said was true. He... Rewarded me very kindly. Have any recurring dreams? Not at the moment. I used to several years ago where I'd dream someone kept breaking into my house but that was because my fiancée kept forgetting to lock the doors. Had to sit him down and have a serious discussion about it for him to start remembering and the dreams to stop. Usually when I have recurring dreams, it's because of some recurring psychological issues; like feeling helpless or useless, feeling insecure about my surroundings, or feeling emotionally trapped. Remember any childhood nightmares? Many! One I had was about a guy who was chasing me. I tried to stop him (via a cleaver to the face) but it didn't stop him at all. Made me feel very helpless. Another was more lighthearted but still scared the crap out of me. My grandmother's old dog, Dudley, was under my bed so I grabbed him by his armpits and pulled him out. His lower half was a duck half. He didn't care, but I screamed in terror. Pretty funny in hindsight. Not funny when I was 4 or 5. So traumatic that it stuck with me for about 20 years. xD What's one of your favorite dreams you've ever had? I had a dream in which I could transform into a dragon. I was fighting a knight and flying through a decrepit and topsy-turvy castle. One room was tilted to the side so we had a sideways battle over a moat. I just remember the freeing feeling of flying and breathing flame (and lightning). That and one I had far more recently in comparison where I was a wolf in a hedge maze with another pack of wolves. I was the leader and had to lead my pack into battle with a rival pack who kept trying to ambush us in the maze. Several times, I had to fall back to held one of my pack who was in danger. My howl could disorient the opposing pack for a brief few seconds. It was a dream that made me feel powerful, helpful, and kind, even though I was scared out of my mind the whole time. Guess that's the meaning of bravery, though; to be terrified but not back down, especially not when one of your loved ones is in danger. Do you have the ability to lucid dream? I wish. Whenever I try, my brain goes haywire and I'm typically thrust into a nightmare. So I've stopped trying. I do occasionally come into it naturally and I just use those times to fly or fulfill fangirly wishes. |
Yes, yes, yes. I am joining this 100%. I am a HIGHLY vivid dreamer and always have been.
What's your most recent dream (or nightmare)? Recently I had a dream that my abusive uncle saw myself and my husband driving, and he turned around and followed us. It was terrifying but I woke myself up before it escalated. Have any recurring dreams? Many. My most vivid is that I'm in a car with my very intoxicated dad on April 8th, and we crash into the local lake and drown. I remember the street, the time of day, and every detail therein. Driving past that spot still gives me chills. Remember any childhood nightmares? Once again, many. The one that always got me the most was when these hundreds of black hands started reaching through the ceiling in my room, trying to get me. What's one of your favorite dreams you've ever had? Just recently I had a dream my husband took me to a sweets shop. :) Do you have the ability to lucid dream? Yes and no. I can't control my surroundings / dream-scape but I do become conscious and aware when I'm asleep. Since this is a problem I've had since childhood, and a problem my mother also had, she taught me how to recognize certain symbols. For her it was her dead Uncle. For me, it's my dead mom. When I see certain things (like my mother) in my dreams, I immediately become aware that I'm dreaming. And while i can't control certain aspects of it or the narrative of the dream, I do have the ability to exist in a dream knowing I'm conscious, wake myself up at any point, and go back to sleep to resume the same dream. I'm excited to report all the crazy and messed up dreams I get here, haha. I've never kept a dream diary but I'll definitely post some of my more bizarre ones here! :D |
Wow, sounds like you've got a lot of those real-life sorts of dreams! Mine are usually purely fantasy and never really relate to my real life very much.
My favorite one of yours you described is definitely the hands coming through the ceiling. That's so creepy and awesome. Traumatic, I'm sure, but still really cool sounding. Straight out of a horror movie! Here's hoping for more of your vivid dreams! Especially if you ever have fantasy dreams -- I could imagine your fantasy dreamscapes are detailed and gorgeous. |
Haha, I did just last night! I dreamt that my husband and I went to some kind of vacation spot / hotel that was not unlike Disney Land. While we were there we caught two of the employees going through our stuff with the intent to rob us. So I busted in, like, excuse me what the fuck? And they sorta looked at one another before deciding to jump me. But for some reason in my dream I was super unconcerned by this? Like I knew they didn’t pose a threat to me. So I call out to my husband to get the hotel manager (and this point I become “awake”) and he tells me, why don’t worry about it. Lol.
So we dealt with these employees in some way that my dream didn’t specify, stayed at the same hotel, and left to go to a convention of food trucks. At some point in there I also distinctly remember getting lost in what was more or less a maze of bathrooms that had no beginning or end, and being like this is bullshit I just want food. The end. Not terribly fantasy related, and grated a left a LOT of stuff out, but hey there ya go lol. This dream on a scale of tame-ness is like a 2/10 for me. |
Daaang, you weren't letting them push you around! Kudos to that! :D
Wish I could remember my dreams these past couple of nights. Been having lots of insomnia and that usually messes up my dreams. I only really remember one the other night where I was talked into a phone app by some guy who was apparently a jackass, as the app was cursed and made me see this really creepy monster with one eye and a practically split-mouth smirk. The only way to get rid of the curse was to avoid looking at the monster. Never really got a conclusion to that dream but it reminded me of a creepypasta. xD Edit: Wait! That's a lie! I was just watching Markiplier play that weird bear game he just posted yesterday and it reminded me that I do indeed remember at least some of my dream last night! I dreamt that I was a shapeshifter and could change into any animal I wanted. I was in the middle of a forest with an abandoned building alongside my mother and a couple other people I didn't recognize. At one point, I had to change into a big cat to scare off another big cat that was getting way too close. I think it was a panther but I'm not sure which cat I changed into. Then my mother told me to meet her at the entrance to the forest, which was a clearing just beside it. We got separated because I had to race Shadow the Hedgehog (damn Sonic Adventure 2 slipping into my dreams, lol). I lost because I couldn't find an animal that could outspeed him, obviously. I landed on a peregrine falcon cuz they can dive bomb at 200 mph but I still couldn't win. Then I flew off in that form to meet my mom. When I got to her, there was a bear approaching. I flew over to scare the bear away, which didn't go well because she was a female with two cubs. She swiped at me and broke my arm, so I changed into a polar bear (she was a grizzly) and overpowered her to get her to run off with her cubs. I changed back to human and my mom comforted me with my broken arm. Didn't have a conclusion because my dog woke me up crying because she had to go potty. xD Might be why I didn't remember I had the dream, since I got distracted pretty much immediately in the morning. And I know for a fact that I'm forgetting some details but this is all I could vividly remember. |
Sign me up!
What's your most recent dream (or nightmare)? I just woke up from an anxiety dream a couple of hours ago. I was being spied on in a security state. A lot of vague shadowy figures. I try to leave an underground parking lot, but the exits are blocked, I keep trying different levels, spiraling around getting lost, attack dogs are coming after me. Eventually I do get to an airport, but TSA keeps manufacturing excuses to delay me and go through my belongings, and they have sneaky expressions on their face! I My cat woke me up in the middle of it all, meowing for something to eat, ending the dream before it reached it's conclusion. That's alright though, it didn't look like the dream was headed in a nice direction. It's either an anxiety dream or a nightmare for me whenever I hit the pillow. For the past week I have dreamed of my teeth breaking off and falling out, having strange changeling children made out of clay, my goldfish dying, my body being riddled with worms, driving through areas with gang activity where shootings start and I am in the crossfire ducking for my life, being accused of crimes I didn't do. Going to bed is a process of grim resignation. Everyone has to sleep at some point, so I don't fight it. But it's not nice having bad dreams regularly. It's like living through Nightmare on Elm Street. I don't know what can really be done though. I have even talked to doctors and counselors about my nightmares, they sympathize but dream interpretation isn't something many professionals are versed in. They are as stumped as I am. These aren't the days of Carl Jung and Sigmund Frued where you rest on a couch and they philosophy about dream symbols. So I am glad this club exists as a place where maybe I can gain insight, or if nothing else vent. Maybe I'll try sleep hypnosis again? That seemed to help for awhile. Have any recurring dreams? I have recurring dream themes and places I revisit, but I don't remember having the same dream in the sense of the dreaming of the same sequence of events each night. Though sometimes I dream in chapters, which I don't enjoy as I mentioned I have nightmares. It sucks to wake up from a scary dream, and then have to do part 2 the next night when you to bed. Remember any childhood nightmares? Yup, I dreamed of falling a lot, tumbling off buildings to my death. Often I would cross the street in a dream and trip and fall in a busy traffic lane, but not be able to get up. Cars would plough ahead straight for me, but try as I might I couldn't get off the ground. It felt like I was glued to the street. What's one of your favorite dreams you've ever had? Sometimes I dream of a fantastical shop in my town. This place doesn't exist in real-life, but in my dream there are delicious sweet treats being passed around outside the store, and I enter it and it's a store that feels more like home with intimate corner side tables to sit at and relax, cozy furniture, hardwood floors, the glow of the fire side, beautifully-colored wall hangings and carpets. It's a shop that somehow just has everything you need like the Room of Requirement in Harry Potter. There's an aisle I always race to with excitement that carries all my favorite childhood toys. It's a soothing dream. Do you have the ability to lucid dream? Nah, I usually haven't the faintest idea that I am dreaming, so I don't think I can alter what's happening. If I do realize it's a dream the revelation just immediately wakes me up :P |
Another stress dream. This one was about a blue haired girl (I can remember her face so distinctly) and how after mere hours of knowing one another, she had to leave cross county on a train. For some reason, in my dream the option of calling or texting or DMing didn’t exist, and I felt all the feelings of falling so deeply in love with someone, knowing she felt the same way, and losing her forever in the same moment.
I remember my family physically restraining me from getting on the train to be with this girl forever. It crushed me inside and I didn’t even know her name. Sometimes these dreams, even if they’re not scary, are so emotionally charged for me that I can’t help but grieve a lover that never even existed. And that was just the first dream of three last night. ( ̄へ ̄) |
I guess I'll join this. I was into dream interpretation when I as younger, so I guess it wouldn't hurt to join.
Most Recent Dream: The closest one I remember is one where an old D&D character of mine threw a dwarf out of a window during a barfight. I don't know why I remember it, I just do. Recurring Dreams?: Well, I don't mean to sound like a horror movie character, but the most recent one I had was a woman who kind of reminded me of Samara/Sadako from The Ring who sat in front of a mirror brushing her hair before crying for Arceus-knows-what-reason. (Probably should lay off the horror movies :p) Childhood Nightmares?: I'm assuming childhood means under 18. I think the most frightening one I had was when I was around fifteen-sixteen. I don't remember much of it, but I do remember a feeling somewhat similar to sleep paralysis and a bunch of whispered nonsense. Needless to say, I didn't sleep well that night. Favorite Dream: The reply to most recent dream. Lucid Dreaming?: Not that I'm aware of, even though I can kind of see my hand when I move it in a dream along with the outline of my bedroom for a while. |
Had a dream last night that I was at a YouTuber's house and he wanted to show me his pet spider (which isn't a big deal for me as I'm no longer an arachnophobe and have a pet spider of my own now). In the process, the spider bolted and ran to some place in the room. We spend some time looking for it, but because it was just a little guy we didn't want to move furniture because we were afraid of squishing him. So I look behind the couch after hearing some wet gasping noises and the little spider had somehow mutated into something akin to the mother-creature from FMA:B. A two-foot diameter, fleshy, stringy mass that barely had appendages to reach out with. If you're familiar with 1982's 'The Thing', think of the way that the Norris imitation adhered itself to the ceiling with all the sticky tendrils, blood, and green ooze. It was gurgling with a death rattle that each time ejected a wet, sticky, limp slug from one of its many orifices, all the while assimilating into the nearby couch and wall.
For some reason terror was not the first reaction, however? Because everyone in the room shared a love for... less conventional pets, we tried to figure out a way to at least keep some of the slugs. Unfortunately what remained of the spider had to be dispatched because it was clearly in a lot of pain. :( But we ended up putting two slugs in the former enclosure of the spider. Then I woke up. :) About a 2.7/10 for me on the wtf scale. 10 being the worst. |

And absolutely yes to having several dreams a night. I have difficulty staying asleep so I often wake up, then go back to sleep, and dream something else. Quote:

I’ll respond to everything in this thread in full when I report the strange dream I’ll surely be having tonight.. but I just want to say that sleep paralysis is one of the most terrible and horrifying things I’ve ever experienced and if you've been in that place and know that fear than I’m so, so, sorry. It’s like a combination of a panic attack, cardiac arrest, anesthesia awareness, and a bad DMT trip all rolled into one. I get the classic ‘shadow man’ paralysis dreams - like fucking Slenderman watching me through my closet. And the ones where I wake up fully only to hear an ungodly roaring and something gigantic charging towards my bedroom door - only to wake up again and have to ask my partner if I’m still dreaming. Ugh..
|
Oh god, I've had those before, where it's a sleep paralysis dream on top of a sleep paralysis dream, etc, etc. They really can be terrifying. I've learned to keep my eyes closed. The scary things I see behind my eyelids are far less terrifying than seeing things in my real life room.
Once, I was facing the wall, went into sleep paralysis, and saw a pair of eyes form on the wall and glare back into me. It was surreal and disturbing. I've heard that sleep paralysis can be a blessing for those who are trying to have really deep lucid dreams. But there's the whole "getting past the anxiety" thing that I just can't do. If that's something anyone is interested in, however, the YouTuber Tipharot has a lot of useful and in-depth information about lucid dreaming both with and without sleep paralysis. Who knows, maybe he can help one of us get through the horror that is sleep paralysis and turn it into something great. |
Ooo, I’ll look into that. I don’t really subscribe to any theories of dream interpretation (interesting though they can be), but the science of dreams and REM sleep is fascinating. Thanks for the recommendation! :) And speaking of ‘teeth falling out’ dreams, apparently those are more prominent in woman than men. Freud says it’s meaning is rooted in a women’s deep and secret desire to be pregnant, lmfao. Yea, that ain’t it chief.
So last night I dreamt that I was sharing an AirBnB in a foreign country with a traveling couple, and centipedes started emerging from every crevice. The vents, the floor slats, the air conditioning unit, the VHS player in the TV (if that doesn’t date the dream idk what will lol), the sink drain, the cushions of the chair, the coffee pot, the pillow cases — like everywhere. But again, much like my spider dream, it wasn’t scary. They were very large centipedes though! Like about twice / thrice the size of an Amazonian Giant Centipede. I remember having a serious discussion in hushed whispers (we all somehow understood that talking about them would make them upset) with my roommates about whether or not we should tell the owner, but we decided not to bring it up because there was NO WAY they didn’t know about this enormous centipede problem lol. And while we didn’t test it, we also inherently knew that if we tried to kill them, they would just break down into even more, smaller, angrier centipedes. Didn’t become conscious in this dream though, I stayed firmly planted in the dream’s narrative. Lots of dreams about bugs lately though, so that’s a thing! Spider talk in spoilers for arachnophobes / because it’s a little off topic (or I guess not considering the subject matter of my dreams lately lmao). Also going on at length about spider anatomy, nature, and care, so prepare for a long rant! Spoiler:

Ahaha, Freud, was laughed out of the psychology community for a reason, eh? :P I have no desire whatsoever to ever in a million years be pregnant. I couldn't imagine the vomiting near daily, the hormonal changes (which I mentioned in another thread is why I can't take birth control), the pain, the ruining of your body because the fetus pushes everything around, and then the tearing after childbirth. Nope. Not doing it. I heard, much more reasonably, that a possible reason for it is because you're grinding your teeth at night. Dunno if I was or wasn't but the second I bought a tooth guard (didn't even ever put it on), the dreams stopped. xD It's like my subconscious realized that it ain't gonna work on me no more. Who knows.
Back on topic: *shudder* I hate dreams about centipedes or millipedes. Those are some of my least favorite bugs, along with sprickets, crane flies, and overly large moths. I don't mind many other bugs, aside from the parasitic sort. My dreams last night were all over the place. Dunno what it is recently but I keep waking up and going back to sleep and it disrupts my sleeping completely. I remember one dream was about me watching a television show where these guys were heading through hallways filled with t.v. monitors that all showed them in real time, despite that they could see no cameras. The monitors wouldn't turn on until they passed them and always played just a few seconds into the past (like them walking and looking around at the monitors a few seconds ago despite that now they're looking up to see if they can find the cameras). And all of the monitors would show them from different angles. Eventually, the two men, separated but in the same predicament, were starting to freak out and monitors would freeze-frame on their freaking out faces. After that, I changed channels to find Jim Halpert cheating on Pam with yet another monitor in the background. Only the monitor in the background was playing some weird XXX version of the video tape in The Ring. It spooked Jim and his mistress (and me tbh xD). Then I woke up. Pretty sure my dog woke me, crying 'cuz he wanted to go out. Put that job on my fiancée xD Then went back to bed. The last dream was me in this monster truck-style car bashing thing. It was real, not a video game, and I was fighting some rando and young Harry Potter. Harry kept winning by bashing into our cars and knocking us over or destroying our vehicles. We just got new ones pretty much instantly so the audience could enjoy. Eventually, I got the upper hand on rando and it was just between me and Potter. There were tunnels we went through and shops we could go to for quick upgrades. While I was in the shop getting something involving a skull (it was a black market apparently :P), Harry snuck up on me and I only knew by hearing the audience freak out from above since they could see the action on monitors (lots of monitors in these dreams). I escaped Harry's sneak attack and he snuck around behind some stalls. I went the long way and tried to get him but I fell for his "ambush", which was just a bunch of flaming sticks that I backed up to avoid. Left the stalls and back onto the main road where Harry and I dueled it out in the parking lot. I threw him up against the ropes several times, but he eventually squished my big-ass truck. Despite him winning, I got a lot of accolades from the audience for lasting as long as I did. Then I went to the store with my grandmother because that's obviously a natural progression, thanks brain. I took an oatmeal creme pie free sample, which was strawberry and tasted awful, then went back for a vanilla one where I saw an audience member who asked me for a cookie. This member was a bully from middle school so I obviously denied her jackass and walked away. Felt good. Should've flipped her off, too. My grandmother mused on about me being seen with her and how I'd feel about other people's perception of it, which is weird because irl I'm 27 and never cared about peer pressure, and I've been out with my grandmother very often throughout my life without issue. Couldn't get a taste of that vanilla oatmeal creme pie because my dog woke me up again. Second dream was really weird and all over the place. First was a bit more interesting, at least until Jim Halpert (or the lookalike perhaps?) showed up. And for more unrelated: [spider talk] Spoiler:
[/spider talk] Speaking of unconventional pets, I've always just wanted a general Pet Club here. We have the dog and cat clubs which are pretty dead imo and I've always considered just wanting them to be combined and have one big Pet Club for all pets. Who knows. Guess it depends on the leaders of those clubs and what other people think about that. |
sleep paralysis sucks
sincerely, someone who cannot sleep in a certain position because it'll cause a guaranteed sleep paralysis What's your most recent dream (or nightmare)? don't really remember. my dreams are all pretty trippy to some extent so i've gotten kinda used to them. weird that 95% of them take place in... pretty much the same area. Have any recurring dreams? i've had recurring elements in dreams but not recurring dreams on their own, no. Remember any childhood nightmares? zombies. fuckin hated zombie apolcaypse dreams. i dont have them anymore (or at least, not as much as i used to), but i used to have them for years. What's one of your favorite dreams you've ever had? don't have one bc i suffer from nightmares far more often than good dreams lol Do you have the ability to lucid dream? uhhhh been' trying for a while but the trippier my dreams are the harder it is to lucid dream. @[email protected] |
2am - Making a post to remind myself about the dream I just woke up from. Involved punk circus. Possibly Team Yell? And a 50s styled diner. Makeshift rave then ate many french fries. Scripted events.
Will elaborate later. Elaboration; I was at some kind of punk carnival. Think burning man meets ICP meets Suicide Squad with the naive charm of Team Yell. So of course, these are *my people*. I had been sitting in a diner decorated to look straight out of a dystopian 1950s. At first, it was weird because everyone in there wasn’t, like, very inviting? But then I told them how to make meth and they were cool with me. By the way I’ve never made meth. So once I’m in with them they turn off the lights and the whole diner transforms into this chrome/neon highlighted interior, like a party at a bowling ally (for you 90s kids). And the actual food aspect of the diner finally starts but the only thing they serve is French fries. But, like, you had to play along with this apocalyptic 50s theme or the staff would ignore you? So all the dialog from there on out was almost like a video game, where the NPC would say something, and you had an ‘approve’, ‘disapprove’, and ‘random’ choice to choose from. For some reason I really wanted these fries though so I played along. Then I woke up. Second dream was about a brutal storm that swept through my area. Like, Hurricane super storm Sandy x10. Like, Noah’s Arc kind of shit. But no one I knew would fucking get along and cooperate long enough to actually evacuate the area?? So all of my friends and family are fighting literally as flood waters started reaching knee level. Then I ‘woke up’ in my dream and started trying to organize a plan to get everyone to safety which of course backfired and all I ended up doing was passing messages back and forth between people. On top of that, for whatever reason no one wanted to split up and it was understood that each person had a piece to some puzzle that would inevitably lead to the storm ending. And yet still no one listened, no one cooperated, and I finally woke up while drowning. Actually, I could breathe underwater but I knew no one else in my family/friend group could and that panic is what woke me up for real. It was incredibly frustrating. Third dream was that the hubby and I bought a new bed, but the headboard and right side was upright, like a couch. And we playfully argued who would get to sleep on the right side of the bed against the couch part, haha. It was cute. :) |
5am - woke up from a dream about an ex of mine. Took place in Boca Raton, FL (Angie, I have no doubts it was your text that inspired this). Oceanside hotel, arcade, inattentive and problematic staff. Janna (Sheep) was there. Ex died in a preventable sea-related accident. Will elaborate later.
|
i texted you bc i had this recurring dream of owning a dog/cat and it's just weirding me out at this point
|
I gotta follow your way of doing it, Fairy, 'cuz I'll wake up and be like "oh that's a good dream to add to the club" and then I'll forget about it during my morning chores >.>

Your trippy dreams sound interesting! I get some LSD Dream Emulator vibes from your description, in anyone recognizes that strange game. I wish my sleep paralysis was more predictable like that. Feels like no matter what position I sleep in, it'll happen sporadically. If it happens in the middle of my sleep, I'm screwed, 'cuz I need to get up for at least half an hour or so to get it to go away. Otherwise I slip in and out of it annoyingly :/ |
I’ve never kept a dream journal and it’s always something that I meant - and my therapist told me- to do because my brain goes crazy every single night. When I finally got back to sleep last night, I had this terrifying dissociative dream that involved me having multiple personalities (it really felt like different people and even hours later I can still feel them), a plane crashing in my front yard, an actual zombie apocalypse / national purge / anarchy, and a highly deadly option to upload one’s consciousness into a computer that simulated the world pre-chaos.
And I gotta be honest here, I’ve only been including the PG13 ones. My dreams often get a lot more.. depraved. And not in a ‘fun’ way. :/ |
Crazy dreams over the holiday. KFC in space, estranged family, living without a (literal, not figurative) spine, the white room... A little hesitant to try to sleep. Will update since tomorrow is going to be wicked stressful for me and I know it will manifest in my dreams.
|
I seem to be having the opposite problems. I can't really remember my dreams or they've been so underwhelming. Whenever I get depressed or stressed (both, in this case), my dreams suffer. As in, they become less interesting or I don't remember any of it or I can't fall asleep long enough to really even have them. :/ It's pretty obnoxious, tbh.
Good luck to you, though. Sounds like your dreams have been... Unpleasant, to say the least. |
This week I went to an exhibit of Mexican Modern Art highlighting Frida Kahlo. Her art is deeply personal like being inside of a dream world, or rather "her own reality" as she called it. Her paintings have given me something to meditate on and inspire me, it's been a therapuetic experience even, seeing all that raw emotion channeled into magical pictures. I haven't had nightmares the last couple of days, and want to continue to foster and environment of directing whatever tension are within me into something unique and colorful where I can fully express myself. I think that will be good for me, I can incorporate some of my dreams into the fiction I write. I do have a concept for a novel I want to pursue in the New Year, also I'll in the middle of making a new doll, this one an Incan maiden, and maybe a Southern Belle to enter into a local arts and crafts exhibition this summer, and if I get the right body parts an Egyptian Pharoah Taeyang doll for this winter. Since I have previously been very understated in my customs, barely a blush, painting very natural faceup, I want to do something intense, larger-than life with popping colors, fantastical

I'm a sad mess today. My dreams the last couple of days had been uneventful, but it looks like it's time for me to pay the piper T_T
I underslept last night, woke up about an hour or so before dusk. I had risen to take some pain medicine to treat a chronic health issue I have. I had meant to go back to bed shortly thereafter, but while I was up I thought I saw a mouse in my home. I'm not sure anymore of what I saw, and hope my eyes were just playing tricks on me in the low light, but I am deathly afraid of mice and could not go back to bed so I stayed up shiny hunting through sunrise and breakfast just, and after I ate I tried to begin the day and get through my Sunday like normal, did the household chores, groomed pets, sketched out some new concepts for a book I'm working on, dialed up my mom and had a fun chat. I thought things would be alright, and took a little nap this afternoon to refuel since my sleep pattern was broken last night--- deeply regretted it. I had a horrible dream where I was pretty much living through the Texas chainsaw massacre, dodging axes from serial killers. I just want to throw up right now. I don't want to sleep ever again. |
Oh god, what in the world could've caused that?? D: I'm sorry to hear about your horrible dream. Such realistic nightmares are no fun at all, especially when you feel your life is actually in danger. Have you ever tried lucid dreaming techniques before? Not necessarily to make you lucid dream, but lucid dreamers often have reality checks throughout the day, which then translate onto reality checks in their dreams (typically after a week or two). If you were able to get into the habit, I wonder if it could help you escape from these sorts of dreams in future.
My personal favorite was to write the word "awake" on my wrist and check the time thrice after looking at my wrist. Only problem with that was I wash my hands and dishes a lot so I was constantly rewriting it. There are other techniques, too, that you could consider looking into if this seems like something that might help you. I'd recommend at least trying it for a month to see if it works. What've you really got to lose, right? |
Sign me up! Writing this response out I realised that I have a lot of vivid dreams and especially nightmares it seems. This post is a little dark but it was interesting to write it all out and look back on how ??? my dreams are. Also it's interesting seeing other people's experiences with dreams!
What's your most recent dream (or nightmare)? Most recent dream... I honestly can't remember the last good one I had :( I'm sure there have been some but they tend to not really stick out in my mind. Most recent nightmare I had was my suburb's high school (not my actual school just the one in the area) getting attacked. 200 people or so died and the realism of the dream made it very disturbing. Won't go into it more than that but it was one of the more unpleasant dreams I had. Have any recurring dreams? Not really specific recurring dreams but a lot of themes tend to repeat themselves in my dreams. I've been getting a ton of vivid nightmares the past year for some reason and a lot of them center on very depressing topics like people I care about dying or past traumatic events I've experienced so it's not a good combo. I have a lot of dreams that take place in my actual house and also the shopping centre I talk about below. Remember any childhood nightmares? Yup! Some of them were super random like I had a dream the entire solar system became visible in the sky and it slowly became more opaque until it crashed into our school. I think I even blogged about it on PC back when I was 11, I'll have to find it from my old account later. I remember a dream where my entire house was made of insects... that was visually not a fun time. Another one was me getting chased down the street by a KFC employee with a knife?!? I also often had nightmares about a shopping centre in my town - it'd be pitch black and in my dream it had many floors of different horrors. No idea how any of those dreams came to be. I've also had the very confusing experience of a dream in a dream where I woke up still in my dream and got attacked by some shadow monster - then I woke up again. Needless to say I was very scared. I've had the classic childhood nightmares too - getting hit by a car, getting struck by lightning, falling... you know super fun things like that. :D What's one of your favorite dreams you've ever had? Ok a lot of my past answers were dark so I'm happy to have this question! Mm I don't know if I have a favourite dream but I have had some very sweet ones. They're very ordinary but it's a good break from the ???? mess that are 90% of my other dreams - I had a dream about summer camp with close friends that was super realistic and so much fun. When I was having a super rough patch I had a dream where a friend of mine just comforted me and they gave me one of those long tight hugs and let me talk it out in my dream. Even if it wasn't real, it was so nice. My favourite random dream I remember is when my entire school building turned into different foods like jelly, chocolate etc. And I got to eat all of it and it was delicious and took forever - I had this dream when I was 6 or 7 I think? Do you have the ability to lucid dream? Kind of? I don't actively try to lucid dream but I've found that my brain often will realise it's in a dream through critical analysis of my surroundings. I'll have a moment of realisation where something is off and I'll know. I don't have conventional lucid dreaming though in that I can control the dream when I'm conscious of it - actually instead, it's like my brain has a meltdown and the dream collapses in on itself. My brain tries to wake me up but in its panic as I'm awakening I get stuck temporarily and experience sleep paralysis and vivid hallucinations of distorted voices, intense static etc. ALSO the dream itself turns more scary regardless of it is good or a nightmare - to explain how this sort of dream works: I once had a dream our school was holding a swimming contest. It was already kind of ominous to begin with but not really a nightmare either. We were holding it in the basement of this super small hotel which... just imagine horror movie lighting and that's what it looked like. People were in the pool competing but not actually swimming, instead all of their eyes were closed and they were floating along vertically. It was very silent, no cheering or talking or anything. I was sitting next to a close friend of mine and halfway through had the realisation that I'd already been to our school's swimming contest in real life so I turned to my friend and asked "Is this a dream?". My friend slowly turns to me doing that 360 head spin you see in horror movies and with the blankest expression, they stare at me and say "Yes, this is". Then the whole dream goes pitch black, I hear the sound of water draining and a distorted voice which I recognise as my own going "Oh I see..." and there are a bunch of bright flashes of vivid hallucinations - scary faces and there's nothing I can do because I can't move. Everytime I try to move the static gets louder and the hallucinations get worse so I have to wait for them to pass until I fully wake up. It's disturbing to say the least and I can't say I'm keen to actively try lucid dreaming. |

And lastly, you've been added to the list! :D I'm definitely looking forward to more of your dreams, they sound very cool (and horrifying)! 🖤🖤 |
just had a dream where i was a "part" of a rowdy group of people and the most illegal thing we were doing was shooting fireworks when we weren't supposed to
the cops eventually found out and i had to sneak my way to not being discovered amongst the crowd .... i wish it didn't feel so real, though. |
Had a strange, multi-part dream. One part consisted of me with superhuman speed on an island taking animals (pig and sheep) away from a crazed hunter straight out of Outlast. Put the animals in a cave and temporarily blocked the entrance off with huge boulders cuz apparently I also had elemental powers and could move earth and air. The hunter showed up as I was leaving and I opened a whole into the earth that led to magma, taking us both into it. I was able to manipulate the magma to stay safe but he obviously couldn't. Nasty way to go.
Then I was teleported to my grandmother's but I can't really remember what happened there. Something about going to my house and watching YouTube on my phone with her while, I think, the dogs were outside. Not sure the sequence of events. Finally, I was taken to another island, a tropical one with crystal clear beaches instead of the forested jungles like before. My grandmother came with, so did my writing buddy and an ex-friend of mine along with her sister. We all swam in the waters when suddenly there were a lot of sharks swimming nearer the sandy bottom. Everyone else was scared but I apparently retained my superhuman powers and could calm the sharks and breathe underwater. It was nice to be under there with the sharks, just swimming and going deeper into the ocean. Which is strange because the ocean terrifies me. But not this time. That's all I remember, unfortunately. A few details of John Hancock from Fallout 4 were also in there but I don't remember when or where. Just that he was hitting on me, which I can appreciate. ;) |
Dreamers! Had a painful dream last night where razor-sharp sequins were stuck in my hands and I had to pull them out. It hurt and it was scary!
That begs the following: Have any of you ever had dreams in which you can feel pain? If so, when was your last experience and what was it about? |
Ouch! Sorry to hear about this one. I hope your recent dreams have been more relaxing. I wonder what the symbolism behind the sequins is? Especially since it's something that I would normally associate as beautiful and festive. Interesting.
This whole topic of pain in dreams is an interesting one. I was a little shy about approaching this at first because I'm prone to nightmares, but I'll be brave and the first to chime in if that's what it takes to keep the conversation going, because I think this is an important discussion to allow. While I have witnessed violent scenes in dreams multiple times and have experienced it even directly in the dream, the odd thing is that physical pain is still somewhat vague to me. Sometimes my dreams are interrupted before a painful outcome, I.e a serial killer is in my house grabbing me and I manage to fight him off, get the weapon first and kill him, or I dream that I am free falling stories off a building but wake myself up before I hit the ground. I do however have a distinct memory of being shot by a thief during a robbery in a dream a few years ago, and losing blood to the point of death as I laid stretched out in the street. It was an out of body experience that was more dizzying and confusing than it was painful, things were happening fast. I was focussed more on my life slipping away, and less on the pain. Still I think it is a vivid enough experience to qualify for the topic question though. Of late my dreams have been more of the common anxiety variety fortunately I suppose, classes I realized I was enrolled in but never went to as the semester ends, having hair and wardrobe malfunctions when I am supposed to be a bride's maid. They are stressful dreams, but nothing graphic that I can't deal with. So knock wood for me, hopefully they stay in that range at least or are positive. |
I'm currently in a melancholy mood, so I'll join if you don't mind.
There are two dreams that I recently had, that may well be related in some shape or form. The first one is kinda my rendition of "school dream". They are never the usual forgotten homework/papers due type, but usually of the school trip type. It was a school trip to a town somewhere near the ocean. My class teacher from back in the day wanted me to go to some place. Her intend was for me to go to random people and asking them how to get there. However, me being me, I just went randomly through the town going my way and even doing stupid stings like walking on fences and such. It was really hard for my teacher to keep up. Ultimately, I ended up in a small part with a big tree in the middle. In front of it there was standing a girl (about my age) looking towards it. The moment I started talking to her I woke up. The second dream I had shortly afterwards I was standing in some sort of underground train station-esque room. In front of me there were two sets of stairs. On the right stairs leading downward towards a "dancing course". On the left stairs leading upwards to a "boxing course". The thing I know: I'm supposed to take the stairs on the right. But the only thought I had, was "what if I take the ones on the left?" Anyway, to answer some of the questions: lucid dreams: I had a couple and they all went the same way: I realize it's a lucid dream; everything freezes; I'm stuck and figure "guess I'll just wake up" hurtful dream: many years ago, but I forgot all about it. The only thing I remember: waking up silent screaming. There were also a couple times where I kinda found my real body shaking spastically, while I was still in a dream. Never figured out what was going on, though. |
I had an intensely horrible dream last night that felt like it went on for hours and hours, featuring these deadly monstrous insects that looked like something that could have come out of The Alien movie franchise. I was trying to escape but stuck in this labyrinth-like place with tunnels and rooms that just would not end. One by one we were getting picked off in bloody ends. I was living my own personal horror movie. It seemed to be a rather depopulated post-apocalyptic earth with a lot of darkness and bombed out buildings.
|
That sounds awful, dear. :(
I actually had a fairly similar dream last night, with the whole post-apocalyptic setting. I need to actually start posting here again to record that nonsense, haha. |
I was wondering if any of you guys have any relaxing night time habbits before going to bed? Some people might count sheep for instance to help fall asleep, or enjoy a cookie and a glass of warm milk or maybe say a prayer. What things do you do to help prepare for a nice sleep?
I'm always looking for tips to help go to bed in the right state of mind. My mom did give me some plants to put by my bedside, and told me they help you sleep, but I found that aloe doesn't help me in a good way. It makes me drowsy, and my dreams become more vivid when I sleep, but since I'm usually having a nightmare I don't want to recall them in new crystal clear detail. So, I'm listening for new nighttime rituals to help bring about a good night's rest and sweet dreams. |
Horrible, horrible nightmare. I may not be right today, so bear with me. I was being forced to kill myself. It was feudal Japan, and there was someone political reason for my death. It was detached and impersonal, nobody hated me, but I was locked in a room with a blade. There door to my room was heavily guarded and if I didn't obey the captain of the guard and his men all had swords drawn and ready to murder me. I looked our the window of my chamber and their were guards who looked like samurai for miles patrolling the roads, making sure nobody escaped.
There were other women there with me in the palace. They had poison wine they could drink and some did, if they opened the door of the chamber to escape they were chased down with swords. I remember observing a pair of doomed twin sisters who are prisoners, and the older one trying to comfort the younger. Some of the bodies of the dying women begin to float through the air, headed our the window of the palace to their final destination, but one of the gaurds speaks of a sinister omen after seeing one of the floating bodies fall in mid air, breaking the bones, the crumbled body looks like a human spider it is so badly contorted after the fall, and he says she will become a demonic creature now. There's more, I had two or three other uncomfortable dreams last night and this morning, but I am the limits of what I can discuss now. Pray for me y'all. |
Given how much I like discussing dreams, it's a shame I haven't noticed this club earlier. So here are my answers to the questionnaire:
What's your most recent dream? It was a really bizarre one I had last night. I was asked to put up a net between 2 poles in a random field near a pond, god knows why. The thing was, the poles were made out of stacked Styrofoam tubes, not connected together in any way, mind you, just stacked on top of each other. So naturally, whenever I'd tie the net to a pole, the pillar of tubes would immediately collapse. Then, I'd stack the tubes again and give it another shot. This continued for a while until I said to the bearded middle aged man who was nearby that I don't think this will work, to which he literally replied with: "Huh. I guess not." Then I woke up. Recent nightmare? A month or 2 ago, I had a dream I woke up one morning back at my family house, instead of the apartment in the city where I study. I look at my phone and see a reminder I have an exam in about an hour. Somehow, I came to my hometown the day before the exam and there was no way I could make it in time. And for whatever reason, if I didn't take this exam, I'd be expelled from uni and thus my future would be ruined. Luckily I woke up for real after that. I was covered in cold sweat and my heart was still racing. I guess because the premise of the dream was so simple, it was very vivid and had a larger impact. Have any recurring dreams? I used to as a kid, mostly bad ones unfortunately. These days, not anymore. Remember any childhood nightmares? Oh yes, I sure do! I had this dream multiple times (I was maybe 3-4 years old) where I'd be walking through the town cemetery with my parents paying our respects to deceased family members, but then a green goblin looking thing riding an orange jet-scooter would ride towards us along the gravel path (as one does) and if you look at his face, it would start spinning really fast which would make you dizzy and you'd vomit on the spot. And as a kid, vomiting was one of my worst fears. It reached a point where I was afraid of any kind of graveyard. Not because of ghosts, skeletons and that stuff. No, it was because of a goblin riding a jet-scooter... Another vivid one was where I'd wake up, get out of the bedroom and into the living room which would be covered in spiderwebs and in the cocoon underneath the coffee table, a large spider emerged jumped on me, bit me and I'd pass out from its venom. Then I'd wake up again, do the exact same thing, except the spider was slightly larger now. This cycle repeated itself 3 more times, after which I woke up for real and was afraid to leave the bedroom until my mom took me by the hand. We entered the living room and there was nothing scary there. What's one of your favorite dreams you've ever had? Hmmm... this is a tough one. I rarely have dreams that involve something really nice happening to me. They're mostly bizarre situations like the net dream I mentioned earlier. I guess from the entertainment point of view, it's one of the most bizarre ones I have ever had. Let me share with you the story of Gogo, the talking pigeon: I was in 5th grade and it was time for a school trip. We went to a location called Croatian Stonehenge, and it's literally like it sounds, Stonehenge but in Croatia. We were staying in bungalows at a nearby resort complex. With us came a regular looking pigeon named Gogo who could talk for some reason. There he met 2 completely white pigeons who mocked him for not being white (looking back on it, this is very much yikes) and thus Gogo was feeling down. But worry not, he was cheered up by a green-skinned witch, one of the employees and a tea expert. Then, the 2 douchebag pigeons get kidnapped by an ex-classmate I didn't like very much and he attempts to sell them to a tribe of shapeshifting dragons who craved some pigeon meat for lunch. So Gogo goes to save them by finding a magical crystal hidden in the front lights of a train that was standing at the train station (???) and places it in the middle of the Stonehenge. The Stonehenge turns into a Regirock-like creature and kicks the dragons' butt and the 2 pigeons are freed and apologise to Gogo. Do you have the ability to lucid dream? I can recall having only a couple of lucid dreams. They usually ended shortly after I took control and I therefore wasn't able to do anything. But, one time I did manage to remain dreaming for a little bit longer, the first thing I did was look at a random sign to see if you really can't read in your dreams. And you can't, well, at least I couldn't. All I saw was a pixel-like mess, it reminded me of GBA and DS era Pokemon game signs. Aaaand I woke up shortly after that. Idk if it counts as lucid dreaming, but I was at one point in my childhood able to cut off a dream if I didn't like it. |
Everybody will respond to things differently, but this was a sleep hypnosis video for a peaceful rest and pleasant dreams that has been helpful for me to hear these last couple of nights. I will add it in case it might be of use to somebody here.

I remember lucid dreaming for the first time last night.
In real life there was a rundown, badly-managed apartment building that I lived in a few years back. The place was falling apart and would have been closed down if properly inspected, and while I was living there I had nightmares about the state of disrepair. I dreamed of accidents happening and all sorts of danger, things like the elevator breaking down while I was stuck inside-- something that really happened to other residents there actually. Even though I am gone from that place I dream sometimes as if I am still living there. I usually dream that I am homeless and have snuck my way into the apartment building for a place to stay, hoping that nobody notices me. I often dream that I am climbing the steps to the upper levels of the apartment. There are holes in the wall and the staircase is still under construction, there are no bannisters, and it's a dangerous ordeal like climbing a mountain just to get to the next floor. I have dreamed of this many times, and this time I began to realise that I don't live here anymore, and have a house of my own. I know that I am dreaming, and decide that I don't want to wake up. Since it's my dream I change the way the building looks, and make it nice and safe. it is after all my imagination and I have the power. The place is new again, everything is fixed, no more hazards, there's beautiful new tile and lighting fixtures, the place is spacious and I walk down halls installing luxurious bathrooms for the tennants like a wizard. I then decide to start flying because I can, leaping into to air. It was an interesting experience to lucid dream. It felt like I was creating my own heaven as Robin Williams did in the movie What Dreams May Come. |

*** Welcome to the club, LucarioBreed! Time to get dream-postin'! If you can remember them. By the time I get back online, I very rarely remember my dreams in enough detail. xD I've had really odd nothing sorts of dreams like the one you'd posted in your "Most Recent" section. Always wondered why people have those kinds of dreams. Can't say I've had dreams about failing school, particularly not ones that affect me. Guess I've just never cared enough xD Gogo sounds like a true bamf, though! Go, you cute little pigeon, you! <3 I'm sort of in the same boat with lucid dreaming. They rarely ever happen, and it's usually something pretty boring. But I've been able to cut dreams off when I don't like them by closing my eyes really tight and counting to 10. I usually wake up around 6 or 7 at the latest. That said, I can't relate to that "you can't read in your sleep" thing. I can almost always read in my sleep, and I've ever read the same thing multiple times by looking away and looking back. Really odd, but might be because I'm a writer so my world revolves around words. Quote:

*** As for me, I don't remember my dreams from last night. Spent about 24 hours awake, so my brain was completely fried. But I do remember a very short dream I had when I was napping today. It wasn't a big deal. Just me playing Spyro the Dragon (OG not the remakes cuz I'm an OG type of gal), and I was running through the Ice Cavern level mixed with the Haunted Tomb level. I'd just made it past the falling rocks when one of the snowball-throwing Gnorcs rounded the corner. My controller died before I could move out of the way, so Spyro got hit with the snowball. Sparx went from golden to gone, which surprised me, and I remember saying "oh *expletive*, I just got hit! Where's Sparx?!" before I woke up. Odd, but one of those nothing dreams again. |
That's the second time I've had a dream about a convenience store. I was playing a video game that was AR, the convenience store was dark but they had a worker at the milkshake machine. Vanilla, I remember that.
Went into the bathroom, which was wide open with a single stall at the back and a window across from the sink and mirror. The door would lock you in, so I was stuck in there, in the dark. There was a ghostly woman in there, you could feel her by rarely see her. Sometimes she'd appear in the window, sometimes right behind you. Typically, you'd need to see her a few times before the door woud unlock. She always crept up to you really slowly. This time, though, I was able to get out of the convenience store and I found myself in a village of some kind. Woodsy, cobble paths, wooden cabin-like homes scattered around. One home nearby had the exact same woman, standing outside of the gate. She had her back facing me and I walked up to her. I woke up, but it doesn't end there. I closed my eyes briefly and had a bout of sleep paralysis, which continued from where I left off. Walking up to her. Felt very real this time and I could hear my labored breathing, feel myself trying to move. It was like I had two bodies. Opened my eyes irl and saw blackness creeping into the corners of my vision. Closed them again just as I put my hand on her shoulder. She turned around slowly to me, black hair moving with her. She had a huge grin, open-mouthed, with what looked like static tendrils of hair wriggling inside. Her eyes were gone, just sockets. I willed myself to get out of sleep paralysis even harder, and snapped awake. My dog apparently heard my heavy breathing cuz he was staring at me. And then I rolled over and wrote this on my phone. Weird dream, man. Unsettling. |
What's your most recent dream (or nightmare)?
Conquering the world with massive cybernetic dragons B) Have any recurring dreams? Generally always been about things I'd like to happen to me in the future, tend to dream about that the most and the most consistent aswell. Remember any childhood nightmares? No and I'm glad I don't my childhood wasn't the greatest so I don't have to relive all of that :P What's one of your favorite dreams you've ever had? Pfffffff I don't really have a favorite dream, ill get back on this one day tho Do you have the ability to lucid dream? Not that I am aware of no. |

The dream is starting to fade, but I was stuck in a nightmare's ville again. This time it seems I fell into the world of David Lynch, specifically Mulholland drive. The sinister man behind the diner by the dumpster fro. the movie was there, and a whole case of creepy characters as my life kept being altered like Rita's in Mulholland Drive. Stephen King plotlines got mixed into the dream as well, specifically the antagonist was Randall Flagg from The Stand/ Dark Tower series. There was a little of the movie Dark City in my dream too.
I had better start listening to those meditation videos again for better sleep before I got to bed. |

Had a weird dream last night that my fiancee and I went to this pseudo Disney world. He bought me a way too expensive Stitch plushie. Then we went outside to go home and it was snowing and icy. We got separated in the crowd and I had to go along this really steep and thin bridge alone, which was above icy water. Nearly fell in a few times and once in particular I got on my hands and knees and sort of shuffled between the legs of other people. Eventually got to the end, trekked the snowy tundra to the car with my fiancee and was happy to finally be going home after being uncomfortable. He took me to some movie place instead where they gave us a detailed quiz about the movie. I was so bored and just ready to go home. But I woke up soon after. What a weird dream. |

Had an odd dream last night in which the Death Note anime got rewritten and remade, so I watched it. It started out almost film noir-like with Light and the main police force cast in a smoky sort of bar already trying to figure out the Kira case. Some random girl not from the anime (or manga, as far as I'm aware), enters and catches Light's eye, alongside Misa. Light tries to flirt with her and gets shut down pretty much instantly. Dunno if Misa knew he was Kira cuz she acted like she didn't know him at all, or even if she was involved with the case in any way. But then it cut to Light walking out with Matsuda and them talking about women. That was when I woke up.
Honestly, I loved and hated it at the same time. Some parts were cool (Light getting shot down was awesome and the Noir theme was cool), but then the rest was really dumb and it would be confusing af if you didn't know anything about Death Note. Dunno what my brain was doing. Writing fanfiction, maybe? xD |
You dream such elaborate plotlines CiCi. I think your dreams actually could make good fanfiction or art!

Just woke up from a nightmare. It was very vivid and realistic. Started out with me and my fiancee on the phone with my mom. She was having problems finding coconut oil, peanut butter, and a couple first aid items due to the quarantine, so I gathered up some supplies for her and her boyfriend. Her boyfriend also wanted 20 dollars, but we didn't give them that. She stood at the front door and we chatted about something unrelated for a minute while she held one of my cats. She put her down, thanked us for the help, then left back to her car with the boyfriend in the driver's seat. This is where things get crazy.
I don't know what set him off, but he flipped. He drove their car down into our ditch suddenly, then ripped backwards up the ditch and peeled wheels across our driveway. I heard my mom scream and then her begging him to stop. That's when I demand my fiancee call 911 and I rushed out of the house as he pulled down the shoulder onto our street, nearly hitting another car. I hear as my mom is pleading with him to stop and he's speeding like a maniac, swerving and making very sharp turns. She can't get out because he won't slow down, even as he tears down one of my neighbor's driveways. I watch as my fiancee, on the phone with the cops, jumps in front of the car in hopes that he'll stop, but he only sends him rolling across the hood. I hear my mom scream for him to get out of the way and for her boyfriend to just stop. He backs up, nearly hitting my fiancee again, then turns around and comes flying up the driveway toward me next. I know he's going to hit me so I stand off to the side, repeating his license plate aloud (which I did so many times that I remember it was bard bru). The cops hear me through my fiancee's phone. He's somehow okay and runs along side me as we dash down the street to follow my mom's boyfriend as he tears down the road and out of the intersection. At first, he goes right, but then he changes his mind and pulls into a neighbor's driveway to help him turn around. At this point, my fiancee is beside me and tells the cops that he was attacking my mom as he drove and heard the boyfriend say that he planned to take the car onto the highway. I see my mom in the window with the boyfriend looking dead ahead, eyes all glossed over and terrifying. I scream out, "Mom, we called the cops, I love you!!" And I scream and plead for the boyfriend to just please stop as he speeds off toward the route that leads directly to the highway, disappearing around the corner. I'm freaking out, my mom is screaming, and my fiancee is trying to comfort me. That's when I woke up. Thankfully. Last thing I needed to see was my mom, dead. That being said, I don't wish to demonize my mom's boyfriend too much. He can be a real piece of shit sometimes but he's never put my mother's life in danger. I know she's not happy with him, but he doesn't beat her or drive erratically (he's actually a trucker and a very responsible driver, which is maybe why my brain thought he totally could pull off some of the things he did in my dream). So while he can be a real douche, he's not like how my dream depicted. Even with that knowledge, the vividness of the dream and the utter realness of that scenario frightened me. I woke up sweating and with my heart racing. Writing it out was just as vivid and it'll probably be a dream I remember for a while. |
May I please become a member of this club? I love talking about dreams and their interpretations. I tend to do a lot of sleeping these days as a way to cope with the ongoing pandemic.
What's your most recent dream (or nightmare)? I recently had a nightmare that my brother and I were much younger, and we got caught in the crossfire of a gang war inside of a supermarket. It was very scary! Have any recurring dreams? I have recurring dreams about the old schools I used to attend. Sometimes I dream about old friends who I haven't spoken to in years, and I kind of miss them when I wake up. Although, I know that in reality they're probably much different now than they were all those years ago. Remember any childhood nightmares? Yes! Once I had a nightmare that my tiger plushie came to life and chased me down the stairs. It was terrifying! It made me scared of the plushie in real life too. What's one of your favorite dreams About a month or two ago I had a My Hero Academia dream where I was a student at U.A. I wore Deku's hero costume and I went on a mission with Kirishima, Kaminari and Tenya to save people from a fire at a shopping mall. Hanging out with some of my favorite anime characters and getting to save the day was a lot of fun, I wish I had those kinds of dreams more often! |

I used to have a lot of dreams about my old elementary/middle school. Mostly, they were negative, probably because I had mostly negative experiences there. Ooh, cool! Your favorite dream sounds awesome! I love when you get to spend time with your favorite characters in dreams. Sucks that these types of dreams don't seem to happen very often :( |
lately i feel like the weirder and more vivid my dreams are, the groggier i get when i wake up. ugh.

I just woke up from a nap. My latest dream entailed going to a Japanese boutique with an idol group. I kept looking at all of the cute clothes and feeling sad that I couldn't afford them. I met a boyish-looking idol in the shop who resembled Haruka Tenoh from Sailor Moon. I asked her for her autograph and she scribbled a drawing of me on a notepad, telling me that I'm "difficult to draw" because I'm "not that cute". My heart was broken, and as soon as I left, I crumpled up the drawing. I thought about throwing it away, but I didn't because I wanted to sell it on eBay to people who were bigger fans of hers than I was.

Last night I had a dream that just has me feeling sick right now. I think the particulars of my last dream were triggered by an analysis I viewed of a David Lynch film. I have been re-watching some of this director's work lately. I have always liked his stylish, dreamy mysteries and erotic thrillers, and think they make for interesting discussion topics because his art can follow a nonlinear narrative structure that leaves things open to interpretation.
Yesterday I stumbled upon an interpretation of Lost Highway that had not occurred to me. Alert, you have been warned of spoilers. Spoiler:
After hearing the analysis of what else may have happened to the character off screen it led me to contemplate the history of judicial killings and lynchings in the southern states, the region of the country most associated with the particular method of execution that the filmmaker alluded to. I was a little reluctant to share this with The Clubhouse or the forum in general, especially at a time where there's so much hardship on us worldwide right now. I want to spread love, and not more sadness. Yet I don't think I can move forward until I say what's on my mind, instead of bottling it up. When I thought about what could have happened to the character in his story, I shuddered at the thought that there's a historical case where a poor little boy died in this way. I don't like the death penalty, and of all the ways to kill someone the electric chair is by far the most agonizing methods states have used, and to know that this was even done to a child is just unthinkable. In South Carolina back in the 1940s there was a 14 year old boy named George Stinney who was black, and he was sentenced to death for supposedly killing 2 white girls after a confession that was probably coerced from threats. abuse and starvation at the hands of authorities. Watching a movie that references execution and a person in a situation where they are being hunted for crimes they may never have committed, and then thinking about real people suffering led to a dream where I was watching a play set in another time where a boy was going to be lynched. It was unbearable. The stage play in my dream was called The Fire Box, and during the performance actors in the cast zeroed in on me and walked over towards me as I was seated in the audience. The performers started reading the dialogue directly to me, and interacting with me as if I was part of their cast, playing a character in the scene. I didn't want to be onstage, but they wouldn't continue with the play until I spoke. I looked down and there was a script in my hand. I was playing the mother in the story, and I was full of anger, and it was my child who was going to be hung in the plot, and I was trying to barter with the crowd for his life. It was so upsetting that I tried to read some of the lines, and couldn't do it, the words stuck in my mouth and there was silence. I was so confused. So another woman in the audience came forward and began reading the dialogue in my place. An intermission came, curtain down, and I got out of that theater. Heading out to the dark parking lot, waking myself up. I had to record this ominous dream somewhere. It has not been an easy last couple of days. I'm tense right now, and am afraid to go to sleep because I don't know what I'll see next. I might rather pull an up all nighter, drink a dalgona and take my chances, than risk having another disturbing dream. |
I'm sorry to hear about that dream, Sam. It sounds very stressful and surreal. Sucks that it came about after all of that introversion and contemplating because, if you're anything like me, that's just your norm: to overanalyze and think way too much. To have something so natural cause a dream like that, well I couldn't imagine. I've had a few dreams that were similar, putting myself in a hard situation, but nothing as long-lasting, detailed, and nerve-wracking as that.
Good luck with tonight. I'm still on Discord if you ever need me to talk to. |
i feel like it's increasingly common these days for me to have dreams of either nearly dying due to falling or by drowning and it's especially kind of ass because i have a terrible fear of heights and deep water.

Questionnaire
What's your most recent dream (or nightmare)? I had this dream that I was in my old home, except it was completely empty. I try to find shelter in the back of the house waiting while I wait for a family member to come and find me. I have variations of this same dream. Sometimes my school bus drops me off (Always my freshman year bus driver, the last year I was in that house). I run inside, but find it empty. Or sometimes the dream starts with me already in the house. To deal with the discomfort of the empty house I look for the shower. Then while in the shower I hear a noise coming from outside, I go to see who it is and there's never anybody. Have any recurring dreams? Almost all my dreams recur, but they happen with variations. Remember any childhood nightmares? I still deal with most of the same nightmares. What's one of your favorite dreams you've ever had? A common dream is that I'm spending the day in a theme park. Do you have the ability to lucid dream? No. But I do have an unrelated note. It's always night time in my dreams. I can't remember the last time I've dreamed and it was day time. |

Haha, welcome fellow Dreamer! You'll be added to the member's list, my friend! |
an interesting thing i want to share:
so, for the past couple of years (or rather, this has been going on longer than that), i've always had this dreams of driving. i would be absolutely terrible at it (which actually is the reason why i'm afraid of driving irl!), but for whatever reason or another, i would be in the driver's seat. this would end predictably bad, either in some sort of terrible crash or another and it'd just turn into another one of my typical nightmares. i'm pretty sure i'd just have some sort of anxiety attack while driving and this would case the crash or something like that. so imagine my surprise when in some of my recent dreams, i've actually been getting better at it! not... perfect of course (nowhere close, actually), but at least i don't crash terribly. i know i shouldn't lean into my own dreams for driving practice, but hey, mildly bumping into some obstacles is better than totally obliteration of my vehicle, so i'll take that as a win. |
Quote:
I can only hope you're going in the reverse direction. As much as I dislike driving now, I used to love it. It's very freeing and so much fun to drive down a calm road with all the windows open. |
see the biggest reason i fear driving is because of those dreams where i'd just lose control of my car and crash constantly or just be generally awful at it so it just gives me terrible anxiety >.> hopefully that passes, though.
|
Fear of driving is something I can relate to unfortunately. I thought about using the current situation to try and put in an effort to rid myself of it because I feel it's an extremely useful skill to have.
On another note, I had another odd-ish dream last night. I was walking along a stone path somewhere in the mountains, tripped and fell down the cliff which naturally resulted in my death. I left my body as a ghost just stared at it while floating above it. And my attitude was along the lines of "man I HATE when that happens". And then I woke up. |
Ahaha "Oh man, I'm dead, I hate when that happens". What does it mean? xD

Dreamers! The weekend is coming up! So let's give us something to do, shall we?
In the coming week, I want us to create. I want us to post these creations, whatever they might be, into our lovely group. So create, Dreamers! Create something -- a piece of literature, a poem, a drawing, painting, sculpture, comic strip, anything you want -- that relates to a dream that you can't get off your mind. It can be a dream that frightened or fascinated you, bewildered or amazed you, or even something you'd like to dream about. So create, Dreamers! Create something about your dreams, and let's share them with one another. 🖤 |
I'm super excited about this event CiCi!
I have had some zany dreams lately, nightmares from being in the Overlook Hotel out of Stephen King's The Shining to Sauron returning from Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings, so I have lots of images to chew on. Last night I dreamed of mice--I'm afraid of them. But things were big like the Mouse King from the Nutcracker. In the dream my cat came to the rescue and battled to defend me. I'm going to design a fakemon on based on the big hero cat from my dreams who can dynamax. |

So I'm not very good at drawings like this, and it's really far off from the things I'm used to imagining/drawing, but I once had a dream about a very pink and fantastical area. It was a dream I had a few years ago but luckily I had a really old drawing based on it back then. Tried my best to recreate it. It'll be the first of at least one contribution -- I may have one or two more pieces to contribute before the end of next week.
Attachment 91777 In this dream, I could jump from floating island to floating island, like the gravity was really low. While there were clouds around, the sky also had dolphins, whales, rays, fish, and other marine life, as well as a boat. The dream has stood out even now as a really fun and enjoyable experience. |
This looks like a cool club!
What's your most recent dream (or nightmare)?: I dreamt a few days ago that I was trapped in an Australian university and was trying to avoid evil vampire-like creatures. At the end, I escaped and drove away in a car. Have any recurring dreams?: As a kid I had recurring dream where I was performing ballet on top of a skyscraper. Every time I was about to do a twirl, I would slip and fall off the building. The first time I had it I was three and the last time was when I was 8. Remember any childhood nightmares?: When I was 11 I dreamt I was trapped in my school at night. My classmates were there, but they had Vulpix heads with glowing red eyes. As I was sneaking through the library, one of them noticed me and alerted the others to capture me. The dream ended when I was just about to get bitten by one. What's one of your favorite dreams you've ever had?: My favorite dream was from just a few weeks ago! It was a lucid dream where I was explore a futuristic Portland, Oregon. There were bullet trains with open roofs and plenty of flying cars. Do you have the ability to lucid dream?: Yes, but it’s very rare. I can only think of a few dreams where I was in complete control. |

Create something dream related over the weekend? Got it!
I had a strange dream last night: I was enjoying me some Hearts of Iron IV as Greece when, out of nowhere, a Machoke navy appears and makes Italy capitulate almost instantly, after which they wrecked everyone in the Mediterranean, including me. Also every peninsula was Italy for some reason. Pretty short and random dream. Here's a quick doodle of it: Spoiler:
|
Bahaha xD That's the best doodle. What a strange dream
|
I somehow got something done. I usually don't post anything I make because its awful, but whatever. xD
https://www.dropbox.com/s/o669jv2kde3q4h5/thmb.jpg?raw=1 (click for a bigger image) I liked this one a lot. This dream was a video game of some sorts that consisted of multiple "campaigns". The first one took a sad turn when the characters ran into a group of low level enemies that unfortunately also had that one higher level monster that made short work of them. The second campaign I saw pretty much the late game of. The main characters where two high level witches who where traveling a dungeon road to down to hell. On their way they discovered a building with big glass panes. In this building there where playable characters from other campaigns (ones I unfortunately was not allowed to experience). The last campaign only unlocked after every other one was completed. It was pretty much the final battle. It took place in an underwater temple that you had to navigate through ship. At the end of it there was a big wall with a tablet that upon examining activated. As a result the final boss was summoned: the god of the sea. The playable character was a sailor who fought enemies by throwing harpoons on them. |
My nerves are in a bundle again this morning. Last night I was talking to my mom, and she was telling me about a good dream she had where she inherited a large amount of property. It was a lavish estate centuries old from some English duke, a place that we would never have set foot in normally unless it was converted into a musuem and offering a guided tour. If I had a dream like that I would have known it couldn't be real alas. *Wistful sigh* She and I sometimes watch romantic costume dramas together though, Downton Abbey, Victoria, adaptations of Jane Austen or Philippa Gregory, so we see our fair share of palaces and ball gowns. This is probably what planted the idea in her head.
Unfortunately all that she was telling me before she went to bed seemed to trigger me to dream about the opposite, living in squalor and uncertainty. Somehow I didn't have the house I live in, and it wasn't explained why. It's like this part of my life now never happened, and I was alternating between trying to live in the basement on the graces of estranged relatives, staying in seedy motels and interviewing for residence at apartments that were already filled. At one point I was checking into a haunted house. I briefly considered adapting the house with the ghosts into a creative project for this event. But think maybe I should stick with my fakemon cat, something whimsical and less likely to trigger more bad dreams. "Wargul" the new fairy Pokemon I devised for the event is arriving soon almost finished. EDIT: Okay, I got my storm cat here Wargul, the dream version of my cat. The name came from my Kitty's name Ward, combined with Gul like blue grey flying cats Bygul and Trjegul that pulled the Norse goddess Freya's chariot through the heavens. The word "war" for battle is also implicit in the name. Spoiler:

With that said, this event is continuing to go on as I know there are a couple of people still interested in it, so keep these creations coming if you have any! 🖤 I'll probably be uploading something for this event soon. I had a not-so-stellar dream last night as well and it was a little too real so I think it needs to come out. |
I finally finished my other project for this event. I'm not much of a poetess, but I thought that it was the best avenue to unleash my feelings, so here it is for anyone who wants to read.
In the Dream from Whence You CameNever was I close to you But still I won't forget How your light and joy reminds me Of simpler days, and yet The dream from whence you came Left in my mind a dreadful bane And an impression of gloom From what my eyes did see I saw you there, clinging To the breaths you took Light and terror of that room never to be the same How my body shook With the shedding of my tears And discovered extent of my fears In the dream from whence you came It now resides in my heart, ringing Ringing and ringing for a time long gone Of simpler days Of the sun's sweet rays Now destroyed by your body, maimed And sung by my heart a mournful song In the dream from whence you came |
It's been a while since I last had a bad dream and the one I had last night was incredibly vivid:
I moved to a new apartment and went to a nearby mall to buy some groceries. The shop I went to was on the top floor so I took the elevator. Did my shopping and went home, but then I remembered I forgot the soap. So I turn around and enter the elevator once more. This time, a construction worker and 2 nuns enter with me as well. We reach the top floor, but when the doors open... it wasn't the mall. It reminded me of a subway tunnel, but without any tracks. All four of us step out. I was pretty confused so I asked one of the nuns if the shop I'm going to is nearby, to which she giggled ominously and said good luck. Walking a bit further through the tunnel, I saw a corpse on the floor which was pretty shocking. Then a few meters later, another identical corpse... then another. About 6 corpses later I reached a widened area of the tunnel which resembled a decrepit living room with a worn sofa, armchair, tea table and an old TV. I decided to take a seat in the armchair and soon a man resembling the corpses comes in and takes a seat on the sofa. He was also very confused and disturbed by seeing a bunch of his corpse. A woman then cam as well and told him he wasn't supposed to find out he was a clone. She pulls out a knife but instead of attempting to murder the man, she turns to me and swings. I grabbed the knife by the blade, cutting myself badly, but somehow managed to tear it out of her hand. Without hesitation, I immediately ran the knife through her throat. The man was terrified and prepared to run away, while I stood in front of her lifeless body, shaking and on the verge of crying about what I just did. For better or for worse, I woke up afterwards and actually felt the tears about to form in my eyes. |
Another stressful dream for me. This time I literally dreamed about going to a Nazi concentration camp. This might have been triggered because I was watching a video about what ancient Rome had for a prison system-- it was unenviable to say the least. I love history, but really need to watch myself before bed time, and view only nice things.
Just when things were starting to take a turn for the positive in my dreams. I had finally had a few nice ones. |
Update because I finally had a light hearted dream! I was getting my hair styled and when I took the curlers out of my hair my locks had magically been dyed pink! I did a quick doodle or two just to have another fun sketch based on a dream. This is me with my pink bob. I was turning heads with my bright pink hairdo in the dream.
Spoiler:
I have never dyed my hair, with the exception of some subtle highlighting with henna some years back, much less thought of dying it pink. But now I'm wondering if I could rock some hot pink curls like this legendary lady. https://i.postimg.cc/3J4DjyGs/mcx-pink-hair-rihanna.jpg |
Seems like we've had some pretty interesting dreams this past week, Dreamers! Especially your dream, Sam, where you had those banging pink curls! Very cool.
Meanwhile, I'm over here unable to remember my dreams for the most part. >.> And as someone who usually remembers her very vivid dreams, whether interesting or otherwise, it's very strange that I've been unable to do so for the past week or so. That brings an interesting question to mind: What do we do that has an effect on our dreams? In terms of diet or daily life, do any of us notice a pattern? I know some people swear that spicy or sweet food gives them nightmares. Personally, I've not noticed a pattern with my eating habits, but I have noticed that if I wear myself out with physical activity, I have deeper dreams that last longer and are incredibly vivid, for better or worse. My food intake could very well do something to my dreams, but I've not noticed. How about you guys? And if anyone is interested, then maybe we can have a daily diary sort of deal, where for a week we track what we ate and did and see what it does to our dreams. But that's a tall order so I'd only want to do that if we have several people on board with it. |
I don't know if this counts as a pattern per say, but I know that I'm sensitive to content, and what I watch or read about later appears in my dream. Pokemon has repeatedly been a theme of my dreams for instance, which makes sense because I play Pokemon games.
Last night I was watching another episode of a Chinese television series that I have been engrossed with for weeks, the Story of Yanxi Palace. It's a vicious costume drama set during the Qing Dynasty under the reign of Emperor Qian Long. The main character from the series Wei Yinglou, is a lowly maid in a world of extravagant wealth and powerful nobles, but survives the treacherous court because of her sharp wits. The last episode I saw was a cliff-hanger that has me scared to death for Yinglou. She's been accused of a very serious crime. She's been accused of things she didn't do before, and usually able to clear her name of suspicion, but this time as a viewer I am not sure whether she is innocent or guilty, much less how she can get out of it and save her position. Not saying what happened for spoilers, but this charge would definitely her life in danger, characters have been executed for less. Yinglou is dedicated and fiercely loyal, so I would like to think she wouldn't do this, but there are so many scheming courtiers that I think it's a distinct possibility she was misled to participate in this plot. My worries for the character followed me into my dream. In the series there's a place in the Forbidden City called The Office of Careful Punishment, and torture takes place here. In the dream Yinglou is sent here and flogged, serving out a prison sentence. Another character is also incarcerated in my dream Fuca. In the series Fuca and Yinglou are the characters that you're rooting for to get together. He's a kind-hearted palace guard who appears to be in love with Yinglou from afar. In my dream he's thrown in jail for trying to protect Yinglou. Things look grim for the couple, and I see the authorities taking Yinglou outside for what I fear is her execution. I woke up from the dream feeling low, and I hope that no harm befalls these two on the show. I'll be upset! |
Weird dream, just woke up, lemme write.
So there's this house, old and big, with an entity in it that sucks souls out of people. Shadowy mass, black, follows from the lower levels which looks like offices oddly enough. Family moves in, tormented without knowing why. One of the sons explores huge house, finds lower levels locked up, unlocking unleashes full power. He finds documents about it, realizes what's happening, and devises a plan with his brother to stop it (they live in the loft area, with skylights and such, it's pretty cool). Plan is to evacuate house but ensure the being doesn't stick to anyone first. Any living being can have the entity on them, so they do it slowly and discreetly. First son goes to lower levels where entity is most active, waits behind special door in only room the entity cannot go. Then he gets the signal to book it once the entity is distracted. He runs, and it's suddenly me, I'm running as fast as I can, up the cellar stairs with it on my heels. Burst out the door, run, and turn around. The shadowy beast is in the doorway, staring. We succeeded. Don't touch him. He'll suck out your soul slowly, he'll stick to you. The only way to destroy him now is to starve him. That's what I remember. Probably gonna pass back out for another few hours now, lol, but it was a cool dream and I wanted to document it. |
What a frightful dream CiCi! What did you eat that may have triggered that? Take care dear.
It does sound like it would be an interesting dream to adapt into an anime, horror movie or manga. Fascinating. I had 4 or 5 scary dreams last night. Since I am trying to mind what I eat and see if it has an effect on my dreams I wonder if I should stay away from peanut butter cookies or coconut ones. I had some before I went to bed and what I dreamed of was unrelentingly intense. https://i.postimg.cc/fbnVvGzj/download.jpg In the last dream I was living in a glass mansion by the beach. There were tidal waves and floods that submerged most of the landscape for miles underwater. In real life it's been raining a lot and there have been flood warnings so that might also have something to do with my dreams. I was also recently having a discussion about Moby Dick and also enjoying the Pirates of Penzance, so that might be why I am seeing so much seaside imagery. But I digress. In my dream off in the distance there were sunken ships, and property headed to the bottom of the oceans, trees swallowed, floating wreckage. I could soar over the sea from a bird's eye view way up in the clouds and spot pirates and Vikings plundering others as if I was a seagull. I also saw angels and groups of pegasi up in the air. Most of the island I lived on had been overtaken by the sea, but my glass house was untouched. I seemed to have everything I need in the enormous house, but sinister souls are coming out of the darkness, walking the shores of the beach headed to my home. I am reminded of Samara coming of the well in the movie The Ring. I am struggling to lock my front doors so they can't get in, but in that typical dream way the locks aren't working, so I run down the stairs, and flee to the basement, going through secret passageways and looking for a place to hide. I hear voices and know that a dangerous man has gotten inside... that's most of what I can remember of that dream. There were a bunch of others, but that was the last one, and the clearest to me right now. |
I tend to get a lot of short and lively episodes of dreams when I have trouble sleeping. It seems like the longer it takes for me to finally sleep the more vividly they can turn out. Its also those that I tend to remember better. Sleep deprivation can be a weird thing I guess.
Just a little while ago In one of those episodes I was sneaking around a house in some sort of stealth game. At a certain point in time there was a mission where I had to get into the cellar. There was also an armor upgrade that looked like the stuff surgeons wear mask inclusive in white. As I woke up I realized that the current time finally made its way into my dream world. xD |
I'm beginning to think there might just be something to what we eat affecting our dreams. The night before last I switched from sweet to salty before I went to bed. The last thing I remember eatting was a bowl of Annie Chun's vegan udon noodle soup around midnight. My dreams then were mundane, still stressful but dreams of things like being back in college and unable to pay tuition and stuck on road trips with a houseful of annoying relatives. I felt agitated, but the the dreams weren't as creepy I suppose.
Last night I got up to feed the cat late at night and grabbed a chocolate chip cookie from the kitchen before going back to bed. The dreams that followed were way more out there, venturing into fantasy, horror, nightmare land. I walking through ghost towns, deserted marketplaces and empty amusement parks. I go into this country store with some old timers who are about to close it for the evening. They have what appears to be a petting zoo with some pigs out back that they are telling me I purchased, and give me some feed to go take care of the pigs. I am walking around the barn sweeping the floor looking after the pigs. I am talking to three pigs, tidying up their pens, they talk to me and I ask them about their day. I don't seem to think anything is strange about this. The pigs are depressed , and one of the pigs is getting sick though, vomiting and coughing up blood, and I'm calling the farmers, trying to her help for the pig. The pig has turned into a person! He's a human being in a cage. It's like the opposite of what happens in the movie Spirited Away. I don't remember what happens next I fear, but what I do remember was quite strange to say the least. I'm going to try salty food tonight before bed to see what happens. |
Hi! So, with this, I'd like to join this club! I wrote a story about a dream I once had:
Spoiler:
I based it off my dream where I seemed to have traveled to America, but I was stuck there. I then saw a couple of people until this important looking woman came out, announcing some sort of contest... And that's when I woke up. Seemed boring at first, so I tried jazzing it up -- I included the concept of 'daemons' that were based off a film called the Golden Compass. |
I had a whimsical dream for a change. All of the plushies I had began to multipy until the room was full, and they were falling off my bed because there were so many. Cute.
Edit: I also dreamed of Pokemon, I just remembered. I captured a shiny noibat in my dream last night, which makes sense because I was recently went on that very hunt, and it was successful. I have dreamed of Pokemon before, I remember picking starter Pokemon, going to the Pokemon center to heal my ailing charmander, soaring on Latias through Hoenn, and encountering Suicuine in the Johto just like Eusine, and capturing a wild Shiny amaura The most notable Pokemon dream I remember having was dreaming that I was working in an aquarium caretaking sea creatures. I was in charge of cleaning Kyogre's tank. I would talk to Kyogre, befriend it, and go swimming with it, but then Team Aqua/Magma arrived and we were both in danger. |
I had a bad dream... a really bad dream.
Right now I feel kinda terrible from this too. I was staying at a strangers house, and seemed kinda friendly too, until they decided to attack me with Garden rakes and brooms, and all other sorts of things. Turns out they were racists and I was trapped in the house. When I finally made my escape, this guy chased me with a gun through the neighborhood and no one did anything to help me or stop him. Luckily it was then that I woke up, but... It was a really bad dream nonetheless. What if that happened in real life? Racism aside — that can happen anywhere anytime and a continuous problem... like I see myself as a really forgettable person, and... that dream made me kinda think, so I have anyone to really rely on? It was a while, but That dream made me feel the first time in a long while that I experienced true lonely ness. Ah... it got really heavy; sorry about that, just wanted to let that out. But yeah, it also made me glad to where I live right now, in an open community. Anywho, nightmare aside, I hope you guys get better dreams than I did~ |

Some of the horrors we see in the news can easily enter into our own subconscious. It's hard to not feel vulnerable right now, whether it's worries of getting sick during this pandemic, losing a job as economy collapses, being a victim of police brutality or having your property vandalized in a riot. There is anger, feaer, instability and mistrust in the climate that can shake anyone, even the sturdiest of trees. There could be also general underlying self-esteem issues here evwn without these elements, especially if you're having thoughts like you have nobody to rely on, violence in dreams may be emotional/mental injury or the threat thereof. I find it interesting that you are being chased with rather mundane, household objects initially like rakes and brooms. These are items that generally are helpful, you clean your house and sweep the dust away with brooms, rakes help you tidy up the yard and gather fallen leaves. These are actually potentially tools, rather than just weapons. Even a gun is an object that can be used for self-defense. Sometimes confrontation in dreams can be about needing to face something. In the dreams you're running and looking for someone to help you. Maybe you're being pursued because there is something in your waking life that you can't run from? Instead of looking for someone else, there could be something that you need to do for yourself. Ask, yourself if there is anything in your life that needs to be fixed? While yoy may feel like an outsider and experiencing loneliness or thoughts of inadequacy right now, I hope that you can feel better, and want to say that opening up about how you're feeling is a constructive step forward I think. I think even nightmares, as disturbing as they may be, have messages that we can learn from. <3 |
Quote:
But, if I can guess the cause, yesterday though specifically, I guess deep down I felt a bit crummy? But, I always tried to... bottle up those emotions within, and I'm used to this because throughout my life, I don't really have any opportunities to vent to without being judged or being called ridiculous... so, I guess yesterday I guess I've been subconsciously been keeping my feelings of loneliness and.. other negative feelings to myself and tried move on through my day. Perhaps yesterday was a little bit too much that I've bottled up, and that following night, the nightmare signaled that. Anyway, I don't get nightmares often these days. In fact, I think this was the first one I had in... a few months now? Or a year or two? This dream just shook me a little; after telling group of friends about it, they were cool about it and I felt better overall. |
This morning my hubby was kind enough to wake me up and ask if I wanted tea. I woke up and mumbled a 'yes' then immediately fell back sleep. During that short five minute window I dreamt that he brought me the entire kettle full of boiling water with a bunch of various tea bags sitting in it. I was trying to explain to him why that's really, really silly and he just.. didn't understand why bringing the whole damn kettle was a problem when I said I wanted tea, lmao.
A lighthearted dream but I'm more surprised I was able to enter REM sleep so quickly after being awoken. @Dragon: Sounds like a pretty classic stress dream. It's not terribly uncommon, even if things are fairly normal in your personal life. The world is in a legitimately terrible place and it's hard not to unconsciously take on that weight. I wouldn't overthink it for now but if it becomes reoccurring or actually disrupts your average sleep than it might be worth exploring with a more critical eye. Feel better, dear. <333 |
Had another pokemon dream. This time Xerneas, Palkia and Yvetal were locked in a titanic battle. Xerneas was the victor!
I also met a Smeargle in my dream. |
I haven't posted here in a while, not for lack of dreams. I have had plenty, both good and bad dreams, but more of them were the uncomfortable to bad type. I have dreamed of things like intrusive relatives barging in and making themselves at home. Realizing that I have all these overdue library books and videos that I rented from stores, but forgot to return them for months, and now have unplayable late fees. Dreams of being a trespasser/vagrant and trying to stay in the shadows of abandoned, run down apartments. Going to beach trips, and experiencing grey skies and rain storms the whole time.
Because it wasn't anything too new I was a little reluctant to post again since I had been the last poster. Though you are allowed to double post in The Clubhouse to share update , I just thought I'd wait to see if someone got the ball rolling first. I'll take the plunge today though because the dream that I had this morning might mark the beginning of some progress from Nightmare's ville. Though it was intense, I think it was meaningful at the same time. I have watched a lot of episodes of Chinese historical dramas lately like Empresses in the Palace. I dreamed of a fictional character from one such show, the Eunuch Yuan Chunwang, who is from the television series The Story of Yanxi Palace. This character is called "Brother" on the tv show, and initially takes on a protective and appropriately brotherly role towards the main character, nursing her back to health when she is sick, reducing her work load when he is in a position to supervise her, sharing secrets from his past that he wouldn't tell anyone else, coming to see her and stand by her when she is out of favor. He at first seemed like a really devoted ally, but Brother is actually a very troubled character who gets insanely jealous, and becomes obsessed with the heroine Wei Yinglou. He is vindictive and can be violent and very cruel. He will try to kill you if he even perceives that you betrayed him, it doesn't have to be grounded in reality. He was a surprise villain. In my dream dear Brother is attacking me. It's a serious assault where he is trying to murder me. He is choking me from behind with a chord. I am kicking and fighting him every step of the way. He's wrestling me down in the kitchen, and I am breaking glass vases over his bald head, grabbing heavy cast iron frying pans from my stove and clobbering him, I'm going through the silverware drawer, grabbing a knife. He definitely got the worst end of it. He was on the floor unconscious as I kept whacking him over the head. I was worried that he would pop back up straight out of a horror movie if my back was turned, and I wanted him to stay down. I kicked in his skull, and wouldn't let up. Eventually family and the police came to take him away. He was badly beat up and bleeding, and going to be put on trial. It seemed he may have assaulted other women, and I may be needed to testify against him. Brother is in the police car, and I am talking to him. He is crying and totally broken. I am calmly trying to understand why he did this, taking on more of a psychologist's role. He's more pitiful in the end than anything else. I wasn't scared of him at all. I realize that he has also been violated and abused, and suffered a lot. In the series that particular character also went through hell literally since his childhood, and it has affected his identity. On the show there's a mystery to who his real family is. He got passed around from person to person as a kid. A foster father abandoned him on the side of the rode to die. A motherly figure tried to save him, and he watched her also die. He was later sold to the Forbidden City, where he was treated as a very low servant where royal children literally rode on his back like a horse. He was ultimately castrated against his will and forced to be a Eunuch. There are other horrors in store for brother. You do understand why this character has some rage in him, but it is misdirected unfortunately at the wrong people, and he had the potential to be someone great once. Maybe the dream is telling me that I am conquering/subduing some damaged or destructive aspect that I previously wrestled with? Because I defeat brother, an individual who had demons inside of him. In the dream I don't feel like a victim, and can look at all the things that happened from matter of fact prospective, and maybe there is some potential to move forward. |
How'd I not notice this club before? Sign me up.
I've been having a LOT of nightmares about going back to school. I either want to transfer, or do some sort of alternative learning now. |
I think I am clenching my teeth at night. These last couple of mornings I have awoken to some soreness on the side of my face-- right where my back teeth would be. These would be teeth used for grinding things when eatting. It especially hurts on the left side of my mouth, which is the side that I sleep on and often have pressed against the pillow during the night. After waking to feeling a dull ache in my mouth I sometimes clench my teeth just to see how my body reacts and if it's the same sensation, and immediately that discomfort increases, and there's some mild pain in the left side of my mouth. My back two teeth instantly feel like they've been stressed, and I get the feeling that I must have been doing it for hours to make my jaw feel so tight. I hear that grinding teeth is something associated with people who have anxiety, which I have.
I am looking for precautions against teeth grinding during sleep because I know it's not good for you. I don't do it during the day, and probably as a result everything subsides and I get relief, but at night my unconscious body takes over. |
I heard of teeth grinding pain before, but I never experienced it. Feel better Sam.
I had a weird Animal Crossing related dream last night (I don't have the game yet, but i've seem enough livestreams of it). I started playing the game, but my character was an anthropomorphic bat. And I had to battle Gengars (yes the Pokemon) at night to protect the island. The island I inhabited looked like a jungle. I forgot who my starting two villagers were though. |
Definitely try to get the grinding under control before you develop any issues. My husband has TMJ and it's really awful. :(
Also @RedBalloon I'd play the HECK outta a game like that My dreams have been surprisingly benign as of late! Not the usual cacophony of sound and image they normally are. Last night I dreamt about a group of people.. they all had faces of people I recognized (friends/families) but I knew they were strangers to me -- kind of like Capgras delusion. There were five of them all standing in a row. |
I don't think I did much grinding last night. No pain when I woke up. I hope that holds, because I am not able to find a lot of suggestions for how to stop teeth grinding when I search for answers online, other than try a mouth guard if it persists, which seems like a last resort, sounds super uncomfortable. I have a dental appointment coming up this month, so I'll try to remember to ask my dentist about it.
I am having anxiety dreams, but they're not too bad I guess. I dreamed it was the Christmas season and I was struggling to make ends meet as I shopped in the supermarket. I was trying to figure what I could afford to buy to cook for a family dinner, and worrying because I hadn't bought any presents yet, and it was almost Christmas day, and I was running out of time and cash. I think financial worries are on the minds of most us right now. Heaven bless. |
I think I might try lucid dreaming soon. Is there anything I should know beforehand?
