Final Fantasy
This is such a great game , whut do you think??
|
I've never had the chance to play it. ;_; I watched the first 15 minutes of the movie though. =o

FF is a great series. However, generally the older the FF, the better it is to me... (with the exception of FF5 and FF9 that doesn't follow this general rule of mine) |
The Movie is nothing like Final Fantsay , I hate it I thought it was gunna b like usin magic and stopin Kefka or sumthin
|
They're all far too easy, but fun.
FFVI, VII, VIII, and Tactics have to be my favorites. I watched the movie...it was...umm...I can see where the money loss came from. |
The only final fantasy game I actually played was FF III on as a ROM.
|
actually most ppl don't think FF is that easy... in FF8 i'm in disc2 and got 4k hp for everyone of my character, and 7-8k hp for whoever got HP80%plus. My friend in disc3 only has 2-3k hp... it's that sad...
|
Well, it depends on how you go through the games. If you just try to breeze through them, they are a little difficult. I noticed in FFX for example, if you don't take time to get all the good Aeons or the ultimate weapons, it will be a little harder...since you can only take 9999 damage max off enemies.
But, when you have Aeons like Anima who take 60000 hp off enemies regularly....it becomes substantially easier. I am currently (trying to) mod my PS2 so I can play FFX International..... |
I played a no-level game on FFVIII last time though, I didn't level up at all until the end wen I had the GFs that had the abilities such as "HP Bonus" etc. It was to max out my stats as much as possibl. It wasn't that hard, and I got all the Triple Triad cards. I have them all in real life too.
Let us know if you get FFXi working, I so wish I could play that! |
blah... don't even mention triple triad... it's so much more complicated that the FF9 one x_x
yes i thought of that no level up thing. It's real sucessful to push yourself to max stats of 255 i believe... then again you can go the very expensive way to buy stat+1 items (there is a way if you twist around with tonberry GF, and possibly other GFs too later as right now there is no way for me to buy that thing at that price) |
I had all the GFs at 100 as well, so yes that can supplement it.
I got the hang of Triple Triad, I did have to beat a whole bunch of people to get all of them. I don't remember the FFIV one too well, I haven't played that game in a few years. |

The movie did not make any sense, but it was still cool. I'm slightly mad that the graphics were not in 8 bit. I wanted to play it in the original version. Anyway, I'm a huge fan of the rest of the series, FFIX being my favorite.
|
I played FF7 for a while on my computer but after a while it was getting a little boring even though the characters were tight. Cloud's my fave. He's so KEWL!
|
I can't wait to try FFX International. I realize that it may not be a whole lot diff. than our version of FFX, but it has the dark Aeons and Penance (the baddest boss in the game).
I just hope this thing works (the mod thingy)! It sounds too good to be true! |
Yep, I've played, completed and loved them all. Plus I live in Europe, and therefore have FFX: International. The Dark Aeons are extremely hard unless you have stats in the mid-200's (max them out for Penance), and HP of about 30,000 (Except Dark Valefore - his attacks only do a max of 9999 damage, they don't break the limit.) I haven't reached Penance yet, as you need to kill all the Dark Aeons to access him (you need to fight Dark Yojimbo five times in a row!) but he's ultimately the baddest geezer in the game. Even stronger than Nemesis.
The downside to them? Well, you cannot return to Besaid, Macalania Temple or Zanarkand Ruins (the room where you fight Yunalesca) because as soon as you aproach them you'll be attacked by Dark Valefore, Dark Shiva and Dark Bahamut. So to return to any of the temples to retrieve forgotten Destruction Sphere items or to gain the secret items in each chamber of the fayth you'll need to beat those Dark Aeons. Dark Ifrit is way out at the ruined Home (Sanubia Sands), while Dark Ixion is under a lightning rod on the Thunder Plains. But those two can be easily avoided if you aren't prepared for battle. Dark Yojimbo hangs out in the Cavern of the Stolen Fayth, but he's easy to dodge as you need to go to the back of the cavern and walk back through to initiate battle. Dark Anima is the hardest to find - you need to complete the Gagazet Trial (The Blitzball throwing) again and then she appears at the Gagazet mountain gate. Dark Magus Sisters hang around the start of Mushroom Rock Road. Their summoners surround you and if you touch one the battle will start, so you need to do a bit of ducking and dodging to pass them safely. Phew, rambled for a bit there :D. But yeah, huge Final Fantasy fan here. Yes. |
Well, I rewrote the Sphere Grid.
I bought a bunch of clear spheres, and replaced all the +1 and +2 spaces with +3 so my stats were maxed and my HP around fifty or sixty thousand. |
I am obssesed with FF 8 and 10...and I dunno why cause Zelda owns em both :D
BOO ya! |

I'm currently making my own weapons though. Got bored with the Celestial (SP?) ones, plus some of their abilities weren't desired (Counter-Attack can be annoying when you're trying to steal, etc). Customised an Excalibur for Tidus: Break Damage Limit, Triple Overdrive, Magic Booster, One MP Cost. :rambo: |
I think they should have/could have stopped the series entirely after VI because none have ever remotely lived up to it, except that I really liked IX. It had a Dark Crystal/Labyrinth feel and the bright, cartoony world of strange animal people and almost comical monsters was a refreshing change from the usual dreariness of other games...I'm really just not at all a fan of angsty drama.
I liked VII when it was new, but I've come to resent its popularity. I can't believe it's considered a "classic" (it's still a very recent game in my eyes) and so many people say it was their first video game EVER, and everyone loves Cloud and Sephiroth when honestly I think they're the two worst characters in the history of the series. To me they're both just painfully shallow, stereotypical cookie-cutter anime style characters with predictable, boring plots, zero personality and nothing remotely unique about them. On top of that, their actual character design is, well, a little bit too girly. Even friends of mine who are gay call them "faggy looking" (Squall, too) I didn't even bother with VIII...looked too much like a bad soap opera. X didn't look interesting to me either, so really, I'm about done with the whole series. Tactics was cool, but I'm thoroughly dissapointed that you can't add monsters to your party in Tactics advance (you just get the morpher/beastmaster...not good enough)......I loved having marlboros and zombies and stuff in my old party....ah well, I'll just get Disgaea (and I urge anyone who likes RPG's and/or has a good sense of humor to get it too. Absolutely drop-dead AWESOME game). |
I am interested in trying the new sphere grid they have in the international version.
I got my device today...(well, its 2 am in the morning..just got home from work). I haven't tried it yet, because I need to take off the cd tray cover and I don't have a small enough screwdriver. Cross your fingers everyone! |
Scythemantis, I totally disagree with everything you've said. To me, the newer Final Fantasies from VII, or maybe VI onwards are by far superior to the older games. Storylines about crystals and magical dragons are boring, the likes of FFVIII and X broke the mould and ventured out into new-ish territory instead of sticking to tired old formulars. The idea of your characters being part of a school-type Garden in VIII is fantastic, and makes a change to "Ye olde light warrior" or some other stereotypical nonsense.
I'm not saying the older games are bad, because they're not. But I just enjoyed the newer games' more interesting and complex storylines better. Seeing as it was the first FF to be released in my country, VII was the first one I played. However, I have bought all the older remakes as they've become available, so it's not like I have a biassed view. And to say you resent FFVII's popularity is pretty stupid. That's like these people who stop liking rock bands because they become too mainstream. Ridiculous. I do think the amount of attention it gets is a bit extreme, but it doesn't change what I think of it in the slightest. My order of greatness, starting with the best (3 is missed out as it hasn't been released yet): VII, VIII, IX, X, VI, V, IV, II, I. Ya. :pirate: Mewtwo-D2 ~ I myself have just discovered a few more differences in the International FFX you might be interested in.
|
I'm not a big fan of the games IV and below either, actually..they're good, but very typical like you said. I honestly found VI's plot to be a tad deeper and more fun than VII (and yes I played all the way through both) which was a good game but Cloud and Sephiroth's storylines felt unneccessarily muddled and confusing, and not in a cool way.
I'm all for change and for unique new styles and looks but I just didn't like the way that was done in VIII a bit...my comparison to a soap opera is about the best explanation I can give. It was all...preppy and melodramatic like heartthrobby teen sitcoms or something. It was mostly the characters...I didn't like any of them, and I found them too realistic, like an everyday person from our world, which is what a lot of people liked about it, but that's what bored me so much. I prefer a wide range of extremely unique and creative characters, so I enjoyed the collection of odd creatures in IX and the huge cast of VI...both of which featured a really wide range of personality types, too. |
well i never minded the soap opera feel... i like romantic stories :classic: However first of all is it just me or does the female protagonist somewhat look the same from FF8 and on? They all are the same in a way that's rather hard to describe...
The only problem i see with the "new" FFs + FF6 (FF7 and onward) are the antagonist... their beliefs are always "i'll destroy the world for no heck of a reason/I'll destroy the world as only a world destroyed is peaceful". That's always what the antagonist or the final boss believed in... can they make things more creative nowadays... |
Well Zemus doesn't really have a reason to do what he's doing, and even worse, X-Death. He just want's to suck everyone into a void. :D
Kefka was just a nutter who wanted to destroy everything; Sephiroth wanted to be reborn as a God; Ultimecia wanted all sorceress' powers to cross over in time and meet at her; Kuja wanted to rule the world, but then destroy it when he found out his life was nearly over; Seymour wanted to destroy the world to end pain. None are that similar if you ask me. |
I too actually liked FFVIII's story and junctioning.
Yeah, with a name like X-Death, you need a strong story like sucking everything into a void to back you up. In FFXi they fixed Quick Hit so you couldn't do it twenty times in a row and then bring out an aeon when fighting Nemesis. In Kingdom Hearts Final Mix, they added several abilities, two of which I am very fond of: Encounter up: Every time you left a room enemies would respwan, instead of having to go two rooms away. Leaf Veil: Can’t get hurt while healing. Both of those would have been really great...wish I could read Japanese and had a modded PS2. |
... you people are aware that NONE of the final fantasy games relate. story wise that is. you see... square-enix (well, squaresoft then) saw that one really big, long, series of sequaled games would quickly lose intrest. and when they decided on a movie, they didnt want to rerelease stuff, although the best choice woulda been ff8 due to the story/plot/characters. yes, the other games are good, but 8 holds more of the 'movie' style. i mean, come on... the only other good game is 3. 7 is alright, and 10 is FAR too superior to use in a movie. that and its too new, and a movie based on it would thus destroy all you little kid's hopes of beating the game blind. although... 2 was good too... and who cant love a guy named butz?
|
Erm, I think everyone knows that none of the games directly relate to one another :/. Even though Final Fantasy IX has a pretty large reference to Final Fantasy II in it. (I mean the real FFII, not FFIV)
|
Well, one of the best aspects about the FF games is that they're all different. I like how they experiment with different designs and different worlds and battle systems and such. If they didn't, it would become boring.
I really like the games. I mostly like them for their story though, more than for their gameplay, although that is uber-fun as well. My favorite is IX> I liked VI, but I find it to be overrated, although it is a true classic. VII is overrated in my mind as well. Of course, I stay away from FF message boards. There is so much bashing of other's opinions and elitistness. *shudders* |
FF10 had too many FREAKIN movies though...the first two hours drove me crazy with cutscenes...even though I personally liked the one where rikku undressed but ANYWAY...er-hem
BOO ya! |
A lot of people did. In FFX-2 she's basically not wearing clothes .
I like cinemas, Kingdom Hearts only has two and thus my selection of Kairi poses is somewhat limited. |
yeah yeah... i know. but it seemed like no one understood that fact. anyways... i think i am a lil behind in this thread... so... i shall sum stuff up...
ff8- love it. ff9- hated it with a passion. all the rest were awesome... triple triad, for ff8 is easy as heck... ff9's version sucked... dark aeons sound awesome, i need to get ffx international... peace love empathy XD |
I love the movies and stuff. I really look forward to them. I can't wait to get FInal Fantasy Tactics advance, I love the fantastic style to it, even though I didn;t care much for Final Fantasy Tactics.
|
[QUOTE=Kairi]A lot of people did. In FFX-2 she's basically not wearing clothes . [QUOTE]
Rikku is wearing as little as possible showing as much as possible... it's... *shiver* degrading! Triple Triad is so hard... the card game in FF9 is much easier (therfore better... for now) n_n;; I loved FF9! it's my favorite ff in the playstation era... Though i admit there's some very annoying part like disc2 outer continent and the beginning of disc3 is just plain boring... nevertheless i liked that magic system more than the materia system and the junction system. It makes a character unique, while the other 2 system can pretty much make a character do any role you want them to be. |
Ugh, FFVIII's Triple Triad owns FFIX's Tetra Master so much it's not even funny. :/
|
I couldn't stand how hard in Triple Triad
*spoilers* Ellone was on the Lunar Base. I had to retry that so many times it wasn't funny. >_< |
I am one of the old school FF fans with the wooden airships, castles, and all that other medieval reference to it. I was a bit worried when FF 7 came about. I liked the game, but personally it is my least fav. of the series.
However, I have grown accustomed to this new wave of FF games with the machina and technology stuff. I just wish that they wouldn't release a new FF game every year. One of the things to me that made the older FFs so good was that they were few and far between. Of course, I suppose that is because most weren't released in the U.S. :) |
i don't mind the machin"a" stuff... just don't bring out mass machine guns and don't turn into "Counterstrike- RPG Style" then i'll be fine...
it's just the balancing issues and the Chocobo annoyance in the new FFs that annoy me a bit... is there any new FFs that are hard (exclude Triple Triad part of FF8) |
FFX International certainly boasts some impressive monsters, with ten or one-hundred million HP? not exactly sure. It's all of your aeons in "dark" form, and then a new boss called Penance.
|
Quote:
That's one thing I forgot to mention...I LOVE the summons in ff8 but not much else. I haven't seen enough of X to judge it but again, the characters don't look interesting to me although the aeons do. My favs from the two are Doomtrain and ...I forget the names of those three girls, they're dressed as insects in X but they were originally bosses in V. I was amused by Chupon being a summon in VII....I'd like to see ULTROS make a comeback someday (I know he was a boss in chocobo's mysterious dungeon though). Yay for ultros!!! |
They are the Magus sisters, Mindy Cindy and Sandy.
They were the first boss I lost to on FFIV when I rented it over the summer around five years ago. |
My friend says there is a way to beat FF10 within the first 15 minutes if you attack the right spots...hmm, I dunno about that though
BOO ya! |
The first boss, maybe. There isn't enough physical time to do that at all. Even if the PS2 was speed up to do one scene per second, you couldn't keep up with it. @[email protected];;
|
Yes... i thought that the Magus Sisters are the same weird bosses in FF4... guess i'm actually correct then n_n. They were pretty easy to beat if you kill off the right one first (so it can't use life2 aka full revive on the others)
ff8 summon system bugs me... boost is certainly interesting but the little summons die 20times the time faster than me? I only used summons against Odin as Odin won't attack anyway... otherwise, physical attack all the way ;p |
I could boost anything to 250 if I filed my nails down and rubbed my thumb and finger over the button quickly. ^_^;
|
Lol...the Magus Sisters were my first defeat in FF4 as well.
That was a small annoyance in FFX. The Aeons (especially Magus Sisters and Anima) are too uberly powerful. Especially when Anima's normal attack takes off 99,999hp on many enemies....whats the point of an overdrive then. I just got my new issue of EGM today. They had an interesting article on FFX-2 and other FF games. Most notably is that they said there is a strong chance they could make a sequel to FFVII. Wasn't my fav. FF but I would play a sequel. I just don't want them to milk the cow (more than they have done) and make sequels to all the games. |
Now, I have a question to ask. I don't frequent the Gamefaqs Message boards often, but I just happened to stroll onto the FFX-2 board a moment ago. There was a lengthy thread (haven't read the whole thing) where apparantly people are arguing that FFX and FFX-2 are related to FFVII storywise.
I came across this short, but interesting post with an interview they did with one of the writers(?). Minor FFX-2 spoilers. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ From "Final Fantasy X-2 Ultimania" -- Is there a connection between Shinra and FFVII? Nojima: Yes, actually. After Shinra quit the Gullwings he got enormous financial backing from Rin and went to the Farplane to start extracting the Mako energy used by the Vegnagun. But the system for utilizing this energy could not be completed in his generation, so far in the future when space travel was possible, the Shinra Company was founded on another planet... or something like that. That would be a thousand years or so from this game's story. -- And VII's story takes place after that? Nojima: Well, you could say that's how I personally feel about it. [from a different section:] -- There are a lot of rumors floating around about "X-3"... Kitase: Hmm, I don't know. Right now we don't have any plans. If we don't do it, maybe we could still find some way - we could put out a spinoff like "Eternal Calm" [the special movie included with FFX International]. But if you're asking if we'll make a game called X-3, currently we're not going ahead with any such plans at all. -- So how about an international version of X-2? Kitase: I wonder. That's also undecided. When we did one for X we were pretty satisfied with it for what it was, so I think I'd like to try. If we do, we'll probably put in something like "Eternal Calm" as a way of expanding the world, even if it's not X-3. But if you're asking whether we're going ahead with plans for an international version, nothing's going on yet. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Ok, back to me. What do you guys think, or what have you heard? I am a tad confused, but a little intrigued as well. Of course, I haven't played FFX-2 yet, so I don't know that whole story. |
I believe they are going to launch an International version in Japan at the same time we in the US get the normal FFX-2. I heard this somewhere, and it doesn't surprise me.
|
Err, bit behind on this, but the Dark Aeon's HP was mentioned further up the page. The highest is Penance with 12,000,000 (12 million), and the lowest being Dark Valefore with a pretty poor 800,000. The rest range from about 1 million to 10 million depending on the 'Aeon order of power'. You know, basically the order you obtain them in. The Dark Magus Sisters have about 10 million HP each.
Final Fantasy X-2. All I'll say is that it looks brilliant  . The battle system is unbelievably fast-paced. |
I believe they went back to the ATB (active time battle) for FFX-2...but I think there is an option to change it.
|
the dark aeons were easey to beat ( i just used yojimbos overdrive whch kills in one hit :))
but anyway in a way every ff was related (exept ffcc and fft ect.) becouse they all had cid in it ofcourse he was always some1 diff but still the same and im pretty sure the all had wedge and biggs in it even kingdome hearts had cid in it but then again kingdom hearts had a lot of ff characters in it btw where do you find the megus sisters in x iv only ever seen the dark aeon of it |
i dunno why in other countrys they don't get the full version of something like the kingdom hearts version and stuff in australia you get the europe version so its allwasy the newest full version whateva you wanna call it well anyway ffcc ffx ff ff ff ff alll the FINAL FANTASYS RULE!! the rpg system
|
true
i think its the best even better then pokemon *every1 points rifles at blitz* well its true |
