the water pokemon club! a place where you can cool down!
this club not only talk about water pokemon but also water related things and also ice type if you want!
|
I'll join a water Pokemon club. Some of my favorites are Milotic obviously, Gyarados, Intelleon, Greninja, Suicuine and Primarina.
I'd like love to find out what other water type Pokemon will be fan favorites in this club. Who wants to share their favorite next? |
I’d also be absolutely delighted to join! My absolute favourite water type is Milotic, though other favourites of mine include: Samurott, Primarina, Empoleon, Lumineon, Suicune, Lapras, & Swanna!
|
wich one is your favorite water pokemon?
join now! yes, i am talking to you! yes you are reading this post aren't you? |
I don't mind joining.
My favorites among others are: Phione, Azumarill and Gastrodon. |
Oh, a club for my favorite type! I'm in! 😍
Favorites include Samurott, Manaphy, Kingdra and Piplup! https://pa1.narvii.com/6558/1f23e03e335fa3a54b7d00171198f88cc4fce9de_hq.gif |
Anyone got any shiny water Pokemon?
I got pretty lucky thanks to chain fishing-- I really miss that mechanic. I got my shiny Starmie, Skrelp, Clamperl, Tentacruel and Kingdra that way. A few others that came into my life are Greninja, Wooper and Wartortle. Edit: How did I forget my signature Pokemon Milotic? That's the first shiny that I actively hunted. |
water types are <3 some of my favorites are Wartortle, Lanturn, Vaporeon, Milotic, and Keldeo among others! hi fans!
as for shinies, I have a shiny Luvdisc I got from a friend some years ago. probably have a bit more too, but I'd need to check my box to refresh my memory. |
Sign me up too! I have way too many favorites to count but Milotic and Vaporeon are top contenders! :)
|
my shiny water pokemon are red gyarados, wooper, and not much
some other that i will not tell |
HEY YA ALLL TELL THE WATER POKEMON TRAINER YOU LIKE THE MOST!
MINE are wallace and crasher wake! |
I had the obvious red Gyarados. Other than that I encountered two other shinies but didn't catch them. The first was a shiny Sharpedo in Sapphire. I was training a Magnemite at the time. It usually needed two Thundershocks to beat one of them. Except of course for that one time.
The other one was a shiny Tentacool in Emerald. It was during one of my party only playthroughs (only catch Pokemon until the party is full) and I probably didn't even have Poke Ball anymore at the time. Regardless, I didn't catch it. Favorite trainer: Misty is alright and Wallace has a good design. |
My favorite water Pokemon trainer will probably always be Wallace. After seeing Twilight Wings though Nessa is becoming a close second.
|
Wallace and Misty for sure. :)
|
Ooh water types are my favorite! I like Milotic, Bruxish (fight me), Mudkip, Vaporeon, and Empoleon, as you can tell by my username.
Crasher Wake was my favorite gym leader for the longest time. I like Nessa too, she’s pretty cool. |

how much water pokemon have you caught? all
|
Oh! Across many games I’ve likely caught hundreds!! However, my favourite water type Pokémon that I ever have caught was a Feebas that I evolved into an alluring Milotic in Alpha Sapphire! It was a very memorable moment for me because it was the first time I had ever introduced a Milotic to my party! <3
|
EDon't mind me. Just hopping into the pool!
My favorite Water-type Pokemon is also my favorite Pokemon, Blastoise. Has been ever since Pokemon Blue. Many adventures have been had with the big turtle, and I will always love him (Mine are usually always male, naturally). Shoutouts to Crusher, my first Blastoise who lives in a copy of Pokemon Stadium to this day, and Ark Royal, who resides in Pokemon Home. My other favorites are Tentacruel, Starmie, Kingler, Milotic, Gyarados, and Primarina! Honestly would love to use those six on like a Gym Leader or Elite 4 team. Favorite Water-type trainers are easy for me. Misty and Nessa, naturally the first and latest Water-type Gym Leaders. Didn't mean for it to fall like that, but it did. I love how determined both of them are. Pretty sure if they met they would be rivals, with Misty being the tomboy she is and exploring everywhere while Nessa gives her fashion tips. |
tell us you're favorite legendry water pokemon ! and what you like about it

Suicune has always been quite strong, and I think it's the best of the legendary dogs, though I like all three of them. Whenever I catch a Suicune in-game I will name it North Wind in honor of the 4th Pokemon movie with Celebi. I consider Pokemon 4ever- Voice of the Forest to be an extremely underrated movie. As a big Studio Ghibli lover I am happy to say that the 4th movie reminds me of Hayao Miyazaki's films, especially Princess Mononoke. It would be on my top 5 short list of Pokemon films. I also have the event Suicuine from the GameStop promotion for the 13th Pokemon movie Zoroark, Master of Illusion. It's the shiny one with the special move pool of sheer cold, air slash, extreme speed and aqua ring. I consider myself lucky but to have it. Quote:
I didn't get around to hunting Luvdisc, Seaking and Wailord but I approve! Congratulations of your haul of many shiny fish from the sea. That's a cool story about how your Seaking got it's most fitting name. I am going to have to go looking for shiny water Pokemon next time while Song to the Siren plays and follow suit. Maybe I will have your good luck? Quote:
Yes, Kyogre is simply stunning, especially the primal form with it's intricate, glowing markings. It looks positively otherworldly. This is a bit of a plot spoiler of a certain favorite Pokemon movie of mine but I wanted to add Spoiler:
Anyway, you made some great choices of favorite water Pokemon. I think most people know how I feel about Milotic and it's twin Gyarados :) |
Favorite legendary is definitely Manaphy! I feel like it's a bit underrated compared to other "Pixie" Pokémon, but has a very interesting lore, signature move, and is just very cute in general! Too bad I've never ever used one, since it's such a rare Pokémon to even come across. Truly a "Mysterious Pokémon", as mythicals are called in italian!

Indeed, manaphy is a nice little Pokemon. I adore it's movie.
Now that we speak of Manaphy and the movie Pokemon Ranger and the Temple Sea it reminded me of another favorite water Pokemon trainer of mine, Lizabeth from the Manaphy movie. She's the beautiful, blue-haired performance artist from the troupe the Marina Group. For those unfamiliar with the movie her traveling family act utilizes water Pokemon in the show, and Elizabeth and her family are descendants of an ancient tribe called The People of the Water, and are guardians of a great secret. So my top 3 favorite water Pokemon trainers would be Wallace as my #1, Nessa #2 and Lizbeth for #3. I just love all 3 of their designs. In general I say water Pokemon trainers are among the most striking and glamorous individuals in the Pokemon world. Incidentally, two poketubers that I really enjoy are The Aura Guardian and SupremeRK9s. A few years back they did a collaboration video featuring their picks for the hardest Pokemon to shiny hunt. Evidently a legitimate shiny Manaphy egg transferred from Pokemon Ranger to Diamond and Pearl is the hardest shiny pokemon you could ever attempt to catch. Would anyone seriously try this? |
I like Manaphy, especially for the lore that surrounds it. But to be honest: I'm still waiting on that in-world explanation about what "Mana" actually is.
(also for those who don't know: Manaphy = Mana + Phi(one)) |

I have a question I thought I would put out there if it's okay with with everyone. Water Pokemon fans, is there a water type mon that you would like to alter or strengthen in some way? Even if it is already a good Pokemon there might be something that you think would make it even cooler? For example do you wish this water Pokemon had a different ability, or got a more unusual shiny color or was given an evolution? In my case I thought Gyarados' mega should have been a water/dragon dual type. This Pokemon has always looked like an ancient sea serpent/dragon. It's even in the dragon egg group and can learn more dragon moves than dark or flying, so I think it deserves to be a true water dragon. Gyarados will always be one of my favorite Pokemon though no matter what. Another thing I wish is that Keldeo's resolute form made the Pokemon function differently in some way. I have a Keldeo, and I like that with the help of secret sword it grows a bigger horn, has a longer mane with rainbow-colored strands and a more determined expression. I just think it would be really interesting if it not only changed outwardly but also had a different stat distribution or different ability than it has normally, something to make it perform like a whole new Keldeo, more like the way Giratina's altered and Origin forms work. |

Name: Roni Favorite pokemon: Crobat Favorite water pokemon : Starmie The thing you like most about water pokemon: there's most likely one for everyone bcs of how many there are! And to answer Sam's question, I believe adding the Fairy typing to Milotic would be cool! Always seemed like it'd fit. |

Three cheers for Roni! I am happy to see another friend of the sea here! I love that idea by the way of making Milotic a water/fairy dual type. It's perfect!
Name: Sam Favorite pokemon: Dragonite Favorite water pokemon : Milotic The thing you like most about water pokemon: Their versatility. They have few weaknesses, and overall have good coverage moves like ice beam and thunderbolt, psychic. I think they are also good defensive typing, there are lots of bulky water types with recovery moves and all sorts of utility options. |
Water Pokemon fans, is there a water type mon that you would like to alter or strengthen in some way?
Phione getting Calm Mind would be nice to see. Manaphy also has it and while the latter has Tail Glow as well, I don't think going to those lengths wouldn't make sense. But at least with Calm Mind it would be a little more useful. Also: are we supposed to fill out the form retroactively? I'm a little confused. |
Say it clearly retroactively means?

I'll try and be more clearly next time. -- Name: Seliph Favorite Pokemon: Celebi Favorite Water Pokemon: Phione The thing you like most about Water Pokemon: There's a lot about them, probably way more than of any other type. Much like water taking up the majority of the planet, Water Type Pokemon take up a huge portion of all the Pokemon there are. And like water can be found in all kinds of places in all kinds of forms (ponds, rivers, lakes, oceans, ...) Water Type Pokemon can be found in all kinds of variations ranging from the small starter at the beginning over the random fish that you can fish in a like to the massive flying whale (which may or may not be able to fly). Water Types in particular allow for a lot of the world building in the Pokemon World, simply because they're the most widely spread thanks to the gigantic oceans and their still unexplored depths. All those colonies on the ocean floor that seemingly can have their own type of lore, some being made up by sailors and the likes and some seemingly being real applications; the creation of the continents encompassed by the duality of Groudon and Kyogre and their fight for supremicy. Even the ruler of space (Palkia) is a Water Type Pokemon. And yeah, the type is very versatile with good ways to get around its weaknesses; most Water Types being able to e.g. use Ice moves to deal with Grass Types. |
we won the third prize I wish all members were at a cafe sitting at the table and I pay all the bills!

Hello Everyone!
It is me Dave, The Co-owner of our club, What I am going to about say is that Thank you so much all of comrades of our club to help us achieve the so-called an impossible task. When this club was started, I didn't expected much from the club because me and My Comrade Allen were newbie in this new and so-called a foreign forum from my heart. But Allen told me not to lose hope even if the situation is too hard. But the overgrowing popularity made me to doubt my own thought, And when I was about to think it over again, We recieved Club of the Month Award and I thought that what the hell I was thinking about?? Allen never losed his hope and you guys also did not let his hope to break, that is why we achieved something. Although we are not in first place, but I am very happy that me and my comrade Allen and Your Club is sharing second position with Honorable Hyzenthaly, The Owner of the The Paradise: The Nature Club (You can curse me if I mentioned Wrong name). Because we Noobs are sharing a position with a more experienced senior of us, so it is a very big achievement for us. Thanks to Sam, er... I meant Honorable VisionOfMilotic for selecting our newbies club and that too forst time. At last I again want to mention all of members of the club for joining our club and making this Occasion happen. And for celebration Comrade Allen, oops! DJ Allen will breif in a few hours from now, I hope you won't be borrd by his speach as you are being bored by mine. So not waste time I am presenting this Grand Slyveon Silver Trophy to our club, Do whatever you want to do with it, it can be anything, like you can kiss it, lick it, punch it, play with it, or even Show off it to your friends as it is not only mine or my Comrade Allen's, You guys also deserves this trophy. I think that I must leave now because Totodile wants to Celebrate and he would be very angry and may land me up 5 miles away by his powerful water gun if I do not leave just RIGHT now! https://i.imgur.com/ibk3aeb.gif -Dave |

sorry guys I went to a village for the holidays there was no internet there so I was inactive
never mind so what was the first water starter you got? and in which pokemon game you have caught maximum water pokemon? |
What was the first water starter you got?
Mudkip! the second ever Pokemon game that i played was Emerald and i just got drawn to it with its cute blue and orange color theme. i figured i made the right decision because it grew up to be such a beast! definitely an MVP of that playthrough :D In which pokemon game you have caught maximum water pokemon? ooh now this one's a toughie. i don't think i've ever caught that many Water types in my playthroughs. pretty much just get one for Surfing and Waterfalling and that's it. |
What was the first Water Type Pokemon starter I got?
It was Greninja in Pokemon X In which Game the most water type I caught?? Was Pokemon X version. |
Quote:

What was the first water starter you got?
The first time I chose a water starter in the beginning of the game would be Froakie in Pokemon Y, who is still my favorite Kalos starter, and ever since then I have been picking water starters. I picked fire starters in the first couple of generations more often, then moved on to grass, but lately I have been getting water starters more. Which pokemon game you have caught maximum water pokemon? Probably one of the gen 6 games because I am shiny hunter, and the chain fishing mechanic was something I had to explore, and it resulted in me catching a lot of nice water Pokemon. I'm going to say that I caught the most water Pokemon in Oras. Hoenn is a water region, so there were so many cool water environments to explore, oceans and lakes to surf and fish in, waterfalls to climb, underwater grottoes to dive under, caves by the beach with pools of water, each location with their own kinds of water Pokemon. Also there's some neat water dual types in the grassy areas like suskrit and lotad. |
what was the first water starter you got?
Squirtle in Blue. Blastoise was on the box cover so I picked it and soloed the game with it. in which pokemon game you have caught maximum water pokemon? I completed the Pokedex in Moon including all the Water types. I suppose that counts? |
Another water Pokemon trainer I like is this gentleman here, Siebold, a class act all the way.

ooh! if we're talking about fave Water type trainers, mine's Wallace. he gave me a run for my money during my original Emerald run. wasn't expecting ANOTHER Water type specialist after having just beaten Juan in Sootopolis. his Milotic was just as nasty as Cynthia's...

tell me the water pokemon that could be given a legendary title and why?
|
Suicune: embodies the compassion of a pure spring of water. It runs across the land with gracefulness. This Pokémon has the power to purify dirty water.
Lugia: is said to be the guardian of the seas. It is rumored to have been seen on the night of a storm. Kyogre: is said to be the personification of the sea itself. Legends tell of its many clashes against Groudon, as each sought to gain the power of nature. Tapu Fini: The guardian deity of Poni, it can control water. People say it can create pure water that will wash away any uncleanness. |
C'mon, I am not the one to put questions put your own questions!
|
Suicune could be given the title of legendary without a doubt! It's such a majestic and elegant pokemon, and it has the ability to purify even the most polluted of waters. Quite impressive if you ask me. I also am of the belief that Milotic, despite having a pre-evolution, would indeed make a splendid legendary!
|
I've always treated Suicune as a legendary. I'd be surprised if it wasn't. And if we talk about Milotic then it is hard to not bring up Gyarados. It has the stats and it has the lore to make it one as well.
We should also not forget that there already are legendaries that are evolutions (think of the Cosmog line) so that doesn't need to be of concern. |
Quote:
|
I want to bring up two other Pokemon that deserve a legendary status: Lapras and Wailord.
Lapras is actually already based off of a legend: the monster of Loch Ness. It's also really rare, potentially almost extinct. Especially when you look at the games, they usually give it to you in very specific ways. In gen 1 you can only get it as a gift and in gen 2 you only find it on fridays in a very specific spot in Union Cave. It's one of these Pokemon that shouldn't be legendaries because of strength or anything like that, but rather through lore alone. We should not forget that "legendary" doesn't imply "awesome worldforming powers". Wailord may sound strange at first, considering that it is quite common. However, the main thing that makes Wailord special is its sheer size. Looking back into the past when the seas where a lot more unknown: if a sailor ran into one of these specimen for the first time they'd be terrified by this massive Leviathan. And I think that term fits better to Wailord than it does to Kyogre (which is also based off of a whale albeit the Killer Whale and not the Blue Whale). |
Quote:
I almost shared the exact same fate you described in a Y playthrough. If that Gyarados gets off dragon dances it can rip an entitre team apart. I didn't help that I had no electric move ready for it. I wanted to train heliolisk, but couldn't afford to carry it because of the tacked on normal dual typing as my team had a tendency to be weak to fighting moves. I was using a Florges with grass attacks for most water pokemon, but Gyarados' beastly attack, very high special defense and flying dual typing is a hard counter to that. I was down to my very last pokemon a Pangoro, who did not have a favorable matchup. I brought him along, thinking he could help out against the steel user Wikstrom with a fighting type move. I thought I was sending him out to die against Siebold's Gyarados, but I was saved by Poke Amie. My Pangoro lived on 1 hp and I got a message saying something like he hung on for me and put on a tough face. Sometimes high affection will act like an invisible focus band, and allow a Pokemon to tank a hit it couldn't otherwise, among other things like increased evasion or higher critical hit ratios. I was just playing minigames with my Pokemon for fun, didn't foresee that an important battle would turn on this mechanic. I made a comeback solely because of my Pangoro's love. He was my hero. I wanted to throw my arms around my big, furry protector for that. Quote:
Milotic is a prommon that is never found in the wild in it's native region Hoen, it has to be evolved from Feebas, which is also a rare pokemon that only appears on a couple of random tiles of water in a specific part of the region, and evolving it is a science. It will fail if you don't mix up the correct berry combination to max out it's beauty. Milotic has a special method of evolution unique to it, and it really underscores that this pokemon is something rare and magical. Other water pokemon that I think could pass as legendary are Ash-Greninja, Lapras and Castform (rainy) |
hey trainers! ugh? sorry! water pokemon trainers we have a total of 8 water pokemon stater from bumpy Blastoise to James bond inspiring inteleon what is your favorite stater? (oh, you know mine) by the way why you like your stater? the best answer will get a medal from me!

fave Water starter? Mudkip no doubt. soo many memories of wrecking house in Emerald when i first played it. i loved every minute of spamming Mud Shot and Surf at enemies and watching them all go down one by one :D it's quad weak to grass sure, but i always have a Flying type in my team anyway that it would render it a non-issue.
close second would be Oshawott, bcs it was only recently in my White playthrough a few years ago that i truly appreciated it. |

Favorite starter:
Blastoise. What comes to mind is my very first play through. I got Pokemon Blue on my birthday the time it came out. The box art itself need a mention: Pokemon Blue has Blastoise on the cover and it looks really good! On my first play through I picked Squirtle and played for a while. When I was told to go to bed I continued anyways in secret. I got to Mount Moon when Squirtle evolved into Wartortle. I did what a lot of people did: I played the game only using my starter. As a result I got Blastoise very quickly. I even learned that you can get Ice Beam which deals with Grass types and that made it even better. I still remember a lot of the moves I tried out: Bite, Water Gun, Bubble Beam, Skull Bash, Ice Beam, Hydro Pump. I remember especially how powerful Hydro Pump was. It sometimes missed and you could only use it 5 times but I didn't care. I used it anyway. The final moveset was: - Bite - Bubble Beam - Hydro Pump - Ice Beam Yes, I used Bite until the end. It did the job, ok? xD When I reached the Elite 4 Blastoise was level 75 which was more than enough to get through them easily. Another thing I remember: when my Blastoise hit level 100 I kept on using it. Pokemon Red and Blue have this weird EV system that continues to give stats even if you don't see it. I boxed it and shortly after retrieved it again. Suddenly, my Blastoise had 30 max HP more than before. I like the cannons, they make it look really cool. I'm sad that it doesn't use them in the newer (3D) games. I mean that's such an obvious thing, isn't it? |
Favorite water starter? Empoleon!
1 - Design-wise, Empoleon's line is pretty much flawless. Piplup is the perfect cute little baby penguin (btw, blue penguins are a thing and they are the cutest), Prinplup is the epitome of awkward teenager (which is to me what the starters' middle evolutions are supposed to represent, as they are designed to "grow" with the player) and Empoleon is not only incredibly cool, but also draws inspiration from so many different places you gotta appreciate the effort put into it: 2 - Empoleon is based on an emperor penguin, but Game Freak took this a step further and made him a literal emperor, drawing elements from classical royal motifs. The trident on its head even symbolises Poseidon, the "emperor" of the sea. 3 - Water/Steel? Empoleon has 10 resistances and 1 immunity. It does have 3 weaknesses, but if you want Empoleon to live a super-effective hit, it will. 4 - Empoleon is one of, if not THE most versatile water starter. Empoleon can run special attacking sets, physical attacking sets with Defiant, bulk on both physical or special sides, and full support. Btw, it learns offensive moves of 13 different types. 5 - Empoleon comes from arguably the best generation starter-wise, much to its own credit. But if Empoleon was a starter from any other region, it would likely be 10 times more popular. Also, I personally love Empoleon because I'm a huge fan of Pokémon Conquest and Empoleon is imo the second best Pokémon in that game after Chandelure, specially considering it's Ina's perfect link and her skill makes Hydro Pump land without fail. https://archives.bulbagarden.net/media/upload/4/41/DW_Empoleon_Doll.png |

I don't think you need to give up ownership if it's just for a month. Plenty clubs managed to survive way longer without their owner being around.
It's a different matter if it's permanent. But it doesn't sound like it. Get better soon! :) |

I hope you feel better Allen! You have been such an energetic and fun club owner that we will miss you on your vacation. But getting healthy again is what's important, so I understand.
Since a month is not very long you don't have to find a new owner. You can still be the owner, even if you need time away for awhile. But if you want someone to ask questions and talk about water pokemon while you are away then I am happy to stay nearby and help this month <3 |
We just all gotta work together to keep this club afloat! Hehehe see what I did there?
So, let’s talk about the objectively best water Pokémon out there, Milotic. Why is it so wonderful, what about it’s design is so elegant, why does it compliment every team it’s on? Discuss! |
Milotic's the most beautiful Pokemon I have seen to date, and it has my favorite shiny color scheme. It's not just a striking pokemon, it's very resilient. I mean this on a literal level because of it's health and ability to raise it's defenses and recover and use all sorts of utility moves to wear down it's opponents. I also mean it figuratively because it has humble beginnings as a feebas, but with perseverance it evolves into the rare creature you see. It's a great inspirational story, it's all about looking past appearances and caring for others, and Milotic is a peeaceful spirit that is said to soothe others, and ultimately is not just beautiful on the outside, but the inside as well. That's why I like it.
I have a question of my own. One of the things I find that I find interesting about Milotic is how it evolves in gen 3-4, by making the highest quality pokeblocks for it to enhance it's beauty. What are some of your favorite methods of evolution for water pokemon? To give another example of a way if evolving that I like would be Kubfu. I think taking it the Tower of Water, battling with it, and reading the water scroll was very creative. I enjoy evolutions that take a little time like friendship based evolutions, or other unusual requirements. I think we should have to work to achieve something special :) |
Getting Milotic is an adventure in itself. You have to Surf the water, climb the Waterfalls, Super Rod the tiles and then catch the Feebas. But even after this very arduous task you're still only half way there. Because now the makeover arc commences. You have to clean it, turn that frown into a smile and polish those scales until they shine so bright that even the sun gets blinded. And when that is done, finally the magical girl transformation happens! Alternatively you can evolve it by trading but that's boring.
And then it's finally time for the torunament contest arc. Sweep the competition and faint the jury with absolute beauty. Afterwards you can continue to do the same with the league. When you're finally done all that is left is to box every other Pokemon, because why would you even need them at this point? But jokes aside: It's a cool Pokemon and getting it feels like an adventure. One that feels rewarding to go through. Quote:
I have been thinking about Magikarp, however; especially the way it evolves. I'm a little bit disappointed, to be honest. For Magikarp it's supposed to be difficult for it to evolve. Thinking about it, the only generation where getting a Gyarados felt difficult was gen 1, though. The reason for that is the reliance on switch training and the EXP-Share being locked away for a long time. In every newer generation it just felt easier and easier to get. Just put Magikarp into the party, activate the early EXP-Share and let it do the rest. I think Magicarp should be able to learn Waterfall. What's more: it should evolve only when it knows the move. However, to make things difficult learning Waterfall doesn't involve the HM/TM. Instead there could be a quest involved, one where you can unlock a way that can still be access for other Magikarp evolutions later on. |
Milotic is arguably my fourth or so favorite Water Pokémon of all time, beaten by Samurott, Swampert, and (ofc) Starmie. it's indeed beautiful, hits hard, and is relatively bulky, but i almost always prefer to have a secondary typing on my Pokémon, because I value type coverage just that little bit more than aesthetics. Ampharos is sort of an exception, but I can easily Mega evolve it and get a Dragon typing in the mix there :D if they indeed did a Mega for this guy, wherein it would have been added a Fairy typing or so, it might've scored much higher in the ranks.
and for the other question, What are some of your favorite methods of evolution for water Pokémon? the default for me would have to be Level up since it's the easiest way to obtain one, but the Water Stone is also another good one. i especially like it when i can use it on non-Water types and it'd turn them into one, e.g. Eevee (upon searching tho, i believe that's the only one with that effect, oof). |
Part of me will always love bringing out Magikarp first, then switching it out, and finishing the battle until it evolves. Probably smoke the more tedious methods of evolving a Water Pokémon, but damn was it satisfying back in the day.

As we all know: Water types can be encountered in a lot of biomes: fields, lakes, rivers, oceans, swamps, even under water, etc.
What biomes would you like to see more of and what Water Pokemon would you like to find there? |
To answer the question above I really enjoy the mechanic of diving underwater. I love the sound and music, the darkness and the slowed down pace you move through the ocean floor at. It's a very peaceful ambiance.
I'd like to keep exploring this environment, and it would be cool if the deeper and deeper you went into levels of the watery abyss the Pokemon became more wondrous and rare, Pokemon based on some on the quirkier life forms that live deep undersea in our world like the barrel eye fish or dumbo octopus, or inspired by water creatures from folklore like the hippocampus, Pokemon that can only be spawned in this location and nowhere else. I have a question of my own for water Pokemon club members. What is your favorite dual type for a water pokémon? With dragon being my favorite type of Pokemon, I'm obviously fond of water dragon Pokemon. Dragons are ancient powers, and often they are associated with water, so it just feels right to me as a type combo. Kingdra was our first water dragon, and in my opinion the coolest. Water ground is a very good typing too, it's resilent. I love my Quagsire. I also like water psychic Pokemon, especially Starmie. What are some of your secondary types for water Pokemon that you think are interesting? |
What biomes would you like to see more of and what Water Pokemon would you like to find there?
I like the underwater sections but I also think there could be more of those. There could be more complex dungeons where you have to go through some ancient ruins stuck underwater. Some places can only be reached through one of those sections. You could even make it so that there are multiple layers of underwater sections. Every layer has a different set of Pokemon you can encounter. The regular places could be inhabited by e.g. Clamperl and Chinchou. Later ones could have their evolutions and at the bottom you can find living fossils like Relicanth. I'd also see more water themed caves. Something with giant waterfalls, lakes surrounded by illuminated rocks, etc. The waterfall sections could have different types of fish like Goldeen and Magikarp. The inner lake sites could have Pokemon like Wooper, Shellos and other Pokemon that run a Water/Ground theme. What is your favorite dual type for a water pokémon? My favorite type combinations are Water/Fairy, Water/Steel and Water/Ground. Water/Fairies are cute and Water/Grounds are a fun type with only one real weakness in Grass. It's also Gastrodon's type, which is a Pokemon I really like. Water/Steel I find fascinating and criminally underrepresented. Why is Empoleon the only Pokemon of this type? We need more of them! Dx |
I had a few thoughts on the different biomes. Game Freak could introduce 'dive battles' where you can only use water types similar to sky battles but, under water. Another, is during surfing only water, flying, or mons that know how to swim (surf) can participate in surfing battles.
For the different biomes one could have different lures for catching the different water types instead of having multiple rods. So for example, a marsh lure would be more effective at catching mons living in the bayou/marsh/swamp. A lake lure more effective at catching mons in a lake. River lure, ocean lure and so on. As for favorite dual types: water/dragon, water/steel, and water/ground are my favorite. |
Did I ever ask if you'd like this thread to become part of the VPP family? Anyone who is a member of this thread will get a small post reduction for every water type pokemon they obtain! :)
|

I'll join up here, a lot of my favourites seem to be water type!
I have a real soft spot for Lapras, which is one reason it was my first VPP! I take one in nearly every game I can. I also love Milotic, Suicune, actually... nvm, it would be far easier to list water pokemon I don't like 😅 I think I like water types so much because some of their designs, and their lore, are so close to nature <3 |
I would also like to join hope dark helmet won't mind
My fav water pokemon are primarina, azurill, kyogre, ludicolo and more Here 's a question what is your fav dual type water pokemon? |
