I feel so sick today, spent it in bed.

ReKoil May 16th, 2021 10:28 AM

A very relaxing day for me.
Shiny breeding while listening to some music.
Just a really slow & calm day.
Nothing to worry about 😇

Hope you're ok!

I dont feel like I've had a chance to relax this weekend 😕. I've either been working on the garden or been too ill. But this week should be OK despite having work. Just hope this pain goes (4 weeks and counting since this pain sprang up. Booked for a scan but I hope its nothing too serious 😅)

Sothis May 16th, 2021 7:22 PM

I am, I'm just always tired and it really gets in the way of life ;_;

Megan May 17th, 2021 2:32 AM

Programming as a job is like building a tent out of loose rocks and holding them together with a stick. Would you really want to sleep in there?

On that note: back to work and hating it \o/

VisionofMilotic May 17th, 2021 9:19 AM

My cousin graduated from college. I think what she accomplished was remarkable especially with the pandemic and some of the emotional problems she was dealing with, I couldn't have done that. She looked so beautiful and happy too in her graduation photos. I couldn't be there in person I'm afraid. Because of the covid restrictions every graduate could only bring two guests, so obviously the spots needed to go to her parents, who paid for her education. Not even her grandmother was allowed to come. I am a bit misty-eyed right now, but glad she got have some kind of a ceremony. She double majored in psychology and business with a concentration in marketing. She's a talented girl and I know she has a bright, bold future ahead of her.

Sothis May 17th, 2021 9:31 PM

Congrats to her! It is amazing in a pandemic because of how education has been so unstable. Best of luck to her!
I'm ancient so I graduated back in 2010 and 2013.

pkmin3033 May 18th, 2021 12:11 AM

I can’t imagine how stressful education has been during the last couple of years - home study isn’t easy and at higher levels of education especially it’s difficult when you don’t have instant access to your teachers. You can always use Zoom or Teams, but there’s no guarantee you’ll get hold of them...something I am finding when trying to get hold of certain people at work...

Meganium May 18th, 2021 2:33 PM

Over the past year I've been taking classes via zoom...including the core ones that usually require you to attend on campus to take them. It hasn't been easy. Even my internship and job went remote...so I don't even know what a physical office looks like lol.

But a lot of us did persevere, and I do give a pat on the shoulder to those who are graduating. Y'all are troopers.

Congratulations to her! Especially during such a tough time!

Sothis May 19th, 2021 3:59 AM

Some don't have internet access at all, or a computer, so I imagine it's pretty hard. I remember an article about some girls getting in trouble for using a restaurants wifi for class.

Heading towards June, and it still feels like winter half the time here! This just ain't right :(

Has anyone got anything nice planned for the weekend?

pkmin3033 May 20th, 2021 2:57 AM

The longer the cold and rain persists, the better...heat absolutely destroys my ability to function in any meaningful sense. The heatwave we had last year was horrendous...

Anywho, my grandparents are visiting this weekend since lockdown restrictions are relaxing. Not seen them since August 2019 so that’ll be nice I guess? I usually stay out of the way though because the conversations they have with my parents are thoroughly uninteresting aha

Megan May 20th, 2021 4:36 AM

I don't have any plans. Well, not going to work is a thing I'll be doing. But that's something I usually do during weekend, anyway.

Urgh, I hate the week for work and the week for lack of anything meaningful to do and no people around. <_<

colours May 20th, 2021 2:06 PM

no plans for the weekend other than relaxing through the rest of it! might game quite a bit too. o:

CiCi May 20th, 2021 2:50 PM

My husband and I will be cleaning up our big backyard to get ready for Memorial Day. We invited our families over for a cook-out (he's keeping up the tradition of his own family). And if weather permits, I want to walk my dogs at the nature trails near us, maybe invite my mom and her dog, too. I'd really, REALLY like to clean my house, too, nice and thorough. So it'll be a pretty busy weekend.

I know what you mean. The weather has been SH*T!! This time last year my garden was as dry as a bone....now it's a swamp.

As for plans, probably sleep 😂. Though I do need some paint so may pop to the craft shop but it depends if it's going to be a wash out.

Meganium May 21st, 2021 8:56 AM

Well it's gonna rain all weekend, wanted to go to a water park but apparently that ain't happening. :( I've been itching to get out of the house all week.

Your entire neighborhood could be a water park if you're ambitious enough lol

This entire country is a water park tbh. A very windblown water park.

Sothis May 22nd, 2021 12:17 PM

I did finally sleep a bit, may do some more.

colours May 22nd, 2021 1:50 PM

i think i took too many naps today and need to do something productive

alas, that may wait until tomorrow. maybe.

Bay May 22nd, 2021 9:29 PM

That's also pretty much me today. Kinda dozed on and off while watching one of my friends's Twitch stream, and then took a 2+ hour nap and feeling bad for not being productive oof. I did take care one obligation on time though and maybe I'll squeeze in something before sleep. Otherwise probably will be more productive tomorrow.

Sothis May 22nd, 2021 9:54 PM

I napped but like...
For 8 hours...

pkmin3033 May 23rd, 2021 12:14 AM

I honestly cannot remember the last time I slept for more than 7 hours...maybe when I was in my teens I guess? I've lived off 5-6 hours for so long now that if I get more than that I feel worse for it. xD

Sothis May 23rd, 2021 12:22 AM

I rarely reach the last stage of sleep, so I have to sleep more than others to feel the same.

Starlight May 23rd, 2021 4:48 AM

Still averaging about 3 hours sleep a night here 😭

I'm hoping it changes, because it's killing me, but I'm kinda resigned to it staying like this now 😔

CiCi May 23rd, 2021 6:51 AM

Everyone in this thread is complaining about too little sleep and then I come in to complain about the fact that I'm a 10-hour-power-sleeper and it makes me feel icky, lmao. Though to be fair, I only sleep that long because everything and its grandmother wakes me up. I'm an incredibly light sleeper. My husband opened the bedroom door this morning to let the dogs outside and, even though he opens it soooooo quietly, it woke me up. And then him whispering, "Who has to go potty?" actually made me jump and thrust me into full awakenedness. And then it's usually so difficult to go back to sleep. e.e

With 5 very loudly screaming and running around cats in my house, I'm waking up constantly. Wish I knew how to sleep through the night and early morning. >.>

ZeoStar May 23rd, 2021 7:09 AM

I didn't have a room or bed as a child, so I slept on a small couch.

I have a room and bed now, but tiny couches are way more comfortable to me. Strange how we grow up can morph us in such ways.

colours May 23rd, 2021 12:02 PM

i had a room for my entire childhood, and then later on when i moved after i graduated high school i didnt have a room of my own for about.. idk, half a decade? and then now i have a (albeit small, but better than nothing) room again.

when i move again i'll hopefully have a bigger room so i can organise things better. x.x

Sothis May 23rd, 2021 4:00 PM

Oversleeping can also be taxing and is also a type of sleep disorder!
I've always had a room but now I'm too tall for single bed so I have to cram a queen in here.

~Dill~ May 25th, 2021 2:43 AM

Insomniac here. I either sleep too little or too much. There's no middle ground 😅

My sleep schedule messes up so easily because of how often I'm just unable to sleep.

I had a scan yesterday morning, but the machine was broken so they had to transfer me somewhere else. When that nightmare was finally over, I was incredibly sore, so we decided to go to our favourite restaurant to cheer me up. It's just opened back up after being closed for covid for months.

As soon as we got there, one of the staff told me that the landlord had given away the lease to someone else, and that they'd be closing next week. They had only just found out. The current restaurant group offered to match whatever rent the new lease was for but the landlord had already gave their property away without telling them. Obviously someone wanted the location and gave the landlord a bung to secure it.

This was one of my few happy places, we'd been going there for years, and knew everyone. They were so excited to be finally opening back up again, and then this happens. I'm absolutely broken-hearted for all of them 😭

I'm not sure when I'll get my results, because my neurosurgeon / specialist is actually in Greece right now 😅

I'm gonna chase up the local authority he consults with over here in a week or two if I haven't heard anything :)

Nope, they're having to close up, it was such short notice. The group that owns them seem to have been really good at offering a lot of staff jobs in their other restaurants, but they were all so heart-broken, they had been almost family, some of them for years.

We had so many people coming over to us to say goodbye. Not really what anyone was expecting or had in mind that day. I couldn't stop crying, but I hid it as much as I could, they'd all just had their life destroyed, and they didn't need to be dealing with that too.

The landlord has done a similar thing to at least two other businesses I personally know of.

My mother needs back surgery and she can barely walk at this point but her doctor has done nothing.
She wants to just go to the hospital but they'll likely tell her to follow it with her own doctor, the one doing nothing.

Healthcare here is a joke.

Everything crossed something can get sorted - it’s frustrating how some things can take SO long to get looked at/actioned and then after several times, someone sees you and tells you it’s XYZ all along...

There's bad doctor everywhere. Also those who just don't wanna admit they dun g00fed something up and pretend like everything is fine.
No chance of asking for a second opinion?

My mother's had doctor's telling her everything went fine during surgery, and she should be getting better soon. only for it never to improve and after a length back n forth with the doctor finally gets him to admit they dun goofed something during surgery, and it's why it wasn't healing properly. She's also had to ask for second opinions several times because some doctor in the hospital didn't wanna do anything.

Sadly no, the state of things here is bad, you can't see another doctor if you have one.

Megan May 29th, 2021 10:06 PM

It's a shame that there are such huge differences in medical systems among the different countries. I suppose, I kind of live in a country that has a pretty decent system with public health care and stuff.

On the other hand there are people like my boss who think health care should be privatized so that "people have to take better care of themselves". He's also the type of guy who says things like "yes, I've been vaccinated" because people didn't explicitly ask if he was vaccinated against COVID.

He never had to deal with severe health issues and the ones he had he always got rid of. He's also heavily into doing sports. So you can imagine that he's very healthy overall. He also never bothers with problems until they come up.

Interestingly enough, before I started working there, they had another employee who had been around since the beginning. He had some insane programming skills and wrote stuff that I still don't know what they are supposed to do, despite me being around for a couple years now. On the flip side: they had severe (and I mean severe) issues both socially and other. While I've never met him, what I've gathered very much seems like he was (and still is) autistic. However, when we talk about him at work his behavior is mostly just disregarded as some sort of weird quirks.

Sothis May 30th, 2021 4:26 PM

I'd hope he'd expand his horizons then :c If one can't get the healthcare, they can't get rid of or treat their illness.

There isn't treatment for autism, it's more like you can attend skills workshops or whatever to gain skills.
As for me, I had the stupidity of only trying to get better after COVID started, so the progress I've made is minimal if any so I'm just pushing myself rn.

EDIT: And yes, she is, she's suffering and we can't do anything. I hate seeing her in pain.

I think I can somewhat relate? Still don't what I have, though. But yeah, COVID around makes improvements quite a bit slow. I can reassure you, however, that you are making progress, at least in terms of how you are being perceived on PC. ^-^

Been trying to type a decent reply for a bit, but I seem to be rather scatterbrained atm.
Anyway,
People will often not like such suggestions, as it makes them feel lesser or as admitting that they can no longer go without such aids.
Unfortunately, there's not much you can do about it till she accepts/is ready for that sort of help.

At any rate, best wishes to your mother <3

Hopefully the doctor will see the light at some point too....
... or perhaps some Voodoo.... =p

Sothis June 1st, 2021 9:11 AM

I keep telling her to be harsh or get the doctor to put in writing that she denied treatment so if something happens down the road, lawsuit.
And they have to do it.

I think it's more of a matter of how things are said. One coworker (the one in question) is basically just spending his day complaining about basically everything. Usually my boss is good at deescalating stuff like that. However, since he's on vacation, there's no stopping it.

That must be so draining but try not to let it get to you. Those are his issues and your wellbeing is more important.
I'd just report it to your boss when he returns.

ReKoil June 2nd, 2021 8:57 AM

Don't suppose your allowed to put on some earphones?
problem solved 😂

Alternatively, if you don't mind confrontation, you could just ask him to stop complaining so much. Could even ask around if anyone else is bothered by it.
If he complains so much I guess there's no way he's not aware he's doing it, right? =p

I work outside and have very limited interaction with coworkers luckily xD
mainly saying luckily because 1 of them tends to be whiny too...

I got sick suddenly this morning, most horrible thing ever.

Tsutarja June 2nd, 2021 12:38 PM

^ feel better <3

This is the third week I've been back in school, and I really wish my old habits of procrastination would just die the fuck down. I managed to hold up well during the first two weeks, but now this week feels a bit like a struggle ;;

Sothis June 2nd, 2021 12:41 PM

Ty! the sweating and chills just tired me right out. I eventually couldn't move.
I think it may be something I ate.

Something similar happened to me a couple weeks ago, except in my case all the water in my body decided to come out of all holes imaginable. A night I won't forget for quite a while. ^^"

It's an awful feeling and I hope you'll get better very soon! ^-^

Sothis June 3rd, 2021 8:00 AM

And the smell too! Plus my throat gets burnt raw from it :( It's truly horrible.

Count me as a passenger on the sick train too..

I have been feeling weak, drained and run down lately. I got a vaccination for covid near the end of last month, and initially attributed my symptoms to side effects, and I think some of it was definitely that. I had muscle pain in my arm right after the shot, and as the days went by fever, chills, stomach problems, headache, fatigue, which are common side effects, and nothing necessarily to be alarmed by initially, though these symptoms seem to be lasting longer. I experienced this for about a week before it felt like I was back to normal at the beginning of this week, but Friday night/Saturday morning I started feeling messed up again, hot flashes, headache, feeling very weak, no appetite and it's been like that like that all weekend. Even the arm pain came back. What's worse is that not long after I got the vaccine I started feeling congested, sore throat, having a runny nose, coughing spells, sneezing, wheezing, numbed taste. I had hoped it might be a bad attack of allergies, but just to be certain I'm going to have a test for covid done, just in case I caught it either before or some time after my first vaccine. I typically don't get allergic reactions this severe. I feel like I have a cold/ flu. I just want to lay in bed all day, it's a struggle to find the energy to do the simplest of things like walk.

i generally rarely ever get sick :c when i do, it's pretty bad, but usually lasts for a few days to a week at worst.

VisionofMilotic June 6th, 2021 7:21 PM

^^
I know that feeling all too well I'm afraid. Take care partner. /Hugs you

Sothis June 7th, 2021 12:28 PM

I'm not in pain now but I'm at the hospital.

Neon Pink June 7th, 2021 12:40 PM

Oh you mean THAT uterus monthly curse. Ugh! I'm having it now, And boy have I been there done that. Feel better fellow ladies.

Anyway, for those of you that have been keeping up with the mental health club.......yeah........it's me. I feel like posting here than there because happiness has returned to my soul. Today I went back to my old program, and we were banging the drums like we did in the old marching band (unfortunately, there won't be any gigs for at least a year and a half but hey whatever). And I said to myself.....what is this feeling.....is this happiness? IS THIS HAPPINESS?!?!! I'm SO GLAD to be behind an instrument again, even if it is a drum and not a keyboard. The class only lasted an hour, but flooded memories came back. The program anyway as I walking around it looked the same but different. Hard to explain. Some classrooms had a semi circle layout with the chairs. One classroom doubled in size because I guess government reasons. And I saw so many people I haven't seen in ages. I was so happy. So now I go there every Monday for the drum class. Viva la revolution. The Drum Corps will come back. Just you wait.

Also, I finally had a date with my boyfriend in the park. It only lasted an hour cause his dad was watching us like a hawk and wanted to leave early, but hey I got an awesome promise ring out of it. It's like granite? graphite? I don't know but it's COOL! We just sat on a bench and played with his iphone in all honesty. Nothing happened...literally. But we do zoom a lot so that's a thing.

Uh....yeah, so for those of you who are sick, feel better ok? Luv ya all. *makes a heart with hands for everyone*

Has anyone got any father's day gift ideas?

I'm trying to figure out what to get my dad. I've done clothes, golf balls, movies and books all relatively recently, and trying to think of something fresh.

He mentioned on one point that he just wanted to spend some together after quarantine, and that if I felt like it we could take a drive through the mountains. I said sure, maybe I could cook some food and I could make a picnic out of it. The thing is the weather is not looking so good in the weeks ahead with constant storming coming up, so I'm thinking again that a material gift is needed on standby in case we have to take a rain check.

Meganium June 8th, 2021 8:11 AM

Mine asked for a vacation with the whole family this year, because we all got vaxxed and we are ready to finally see each other again. I think quality time is a better gift than an actual gift (because time with your dad is a valuable gift, tbh).

Father's Day is one of these days where I feel like it's not necessarily about spending money on a gift. This may sound incredibly cliche, but: why not do something creative and personal? Like drawing a picture or folding an intriguing origami piece. You can just pour all your love into it. Even if you don't need it because your original plans worked out you can give it to him, anyway. It doesn't even matter how skilled you are at it as long as it comes from the heart. ^-^

Sothis June 8th, 2021 11:56 AM

My father has all but admitted he favors my brother over me. I get him cards at Christmas and his birthday but that's it.

Neon Pink June 8th, 2021 12:04 PM

My dad lives in the western part of the country and since I spent all last month with him, that was his father's day gift. I'm going to call him definitely on that day though.
I'm probably going to my mom's house on father's day to spend time with my step-dad.
*shrug*

Sothis June 9th, 2021 5:28 PM

This is my first father's day without my step dad.
He was who I'd celebrate it with.

ZeoStar June 9th, 2021 6:36 PM

We decorated my dad's tombstone with small messages and trinkets. (For example: we set out some measuring tape because he loved to build things). Everytime we come back, we find stuff has been stolen.

Sothis June 9th, 2021 8:18 PM

Stealing from a grave is just the lowest of low. It's obvious the person is still loved and missed and stealing things is just spitting on your family's love for your father. I'm so sorry that's happening.

Sadly people just see it as free stuff, usually using the reasoning of 'this person is dead so it's not like they need it' to justify it for themselves.
It's horrible.

Yep this is correct. I still find solace in visiting (because it's the closest I can be with my dad). So it means getting the chance to redecorate with new things. We stopped placing anything too expensive, since that often goes missing within a week. He liked gardening so we left some flowers and gardening tools. Those haven't been taken. Although we placed real flowers, and it can be hard keeping up with them.

@Sandalphon @AshKetchup, thanks for the condolences.

Sothis June 10th, 2021 3:01 PM

That's probably best, unfortunately. People destroy graves so its sadly not a shock that they do this.
We cremated my step father and kept the ashes.

People stealing from grave spots depresses me beyond belief. :( I'll be sure to be careful with what I place down when I visit family graves in the near future.

I've never visited my grandparents' graves since they passed away in Russia (where I'm from) and I've not been able to visit since then. But hopefully sometime in the future, pretty sure I'm the only one from my family who hasn't at least gone to see them yet. v_v
