I live in New Jersey and we have a whole trash island BEAT THAT — also anyone not wearing a mask in public rn should be forced to live out their days on said trash island period.

Starlight March 17th, 2021 10:52 PM

I'm exempt from wearing them for several reasons... and I still wear them. If I can manage it, then so can the majority of others.

pkmin3033 March 17th, 2021 10:55 PM

Well, if you can't wear a mask because of a medical condition or similar, that's another matter entirely, because it's not really by choice that you don't wear one. But if you don't have a serious, valid reason - which personal discomfort is most definitely not - then...yeah, I don't get it.

I'm probably going to start wearing a mask all the time I go out now that the kids have gone back to school...I live in a tiny village and it gets super busy on the streets, so avoiding people is harder =/

Oh absolutely! That's what I meant by majority. Simple discomfort is no reason to put other people's lives in danger :)

I have breathing difficulties when wearing one, so I tend to avoid puplic places altogether. My partner will usually go in by herself, while I stay in the car. If I do need to go in, then I have to take breaks and find a quiet area that I can take it off for a while to let my breathing catch up. I get some real evil looks for doing that sometimes, but I have no choice, and I always put it straight back on if anyone comes even anywhere near. I really shouldn't be wearing one, but I'm not gonna make it any easier for this horrid disease 😔

I hope this pandemic eases really soon. The sun is coming, and even moderate temperatures are more than enough for everyone to throw all precautions away around these parts :(

I just didn't want my last post to imply that everyone should be wearing a mask irrespective of their personal circumstances is all, which it kinda came across as when I read it back, haha.

I mean, obviously people are free to do whatever they want - it's your health, etc. etc. - but if you don't have a medical reason for it...well...wearing a mask in public costs you nothing, and it protects you and others from something that could very easily kill you. I just don't understand why some people have to make a fuss over it =x

Do you think you'll get access to a vaccine anytime soon? I'm not sure what the situation is like elsewhere in the world, but I think the UK has been prioritising people with more serious health conditions alongside the elderly and frontline health and social care workers. Probably the only thing the government has done right with the pandemic is the speed at which the vulnerable and elderly have been vaccinated =x

I understand exactly what you mean :)

Yeah I had the Pfizer jab a while ago, not had my second dose yet though.

My partner hasn't had any yet, even though our doctor thinks she should have based on her medical problems. I guess it depends on more than just the cohort guidelines they made public 🤔

Nice! I had my first Pfizer back at the end of January thanks to work, got my second coming up this time next month. We've all had ours now - mother works in a school, brother is in a care home, and father is over sixty - so that's a huge relief.

I've benefited a lot from the pandemic thanks to WFH, but it's been a very stressful time and it's delayed some very important things - like meeting up with my partner, moving out, etc - and it'll come as a relief when things are a little more relaxed. I doubt I'll leave home without a mask on for a very long time - if ever - but still. xD

I'm so glad you all got jabbed! Like you said, it's about the only thing this government has got right! Although they did mess mine up a bit - they sent me the letter then forgot to contact me - so I was a bit late getting it for my group, but I think that may have been my local practice's fault tbh.

WFH has changed everything I think, and the world is gonna be very different in that department in the future. That totally sucks about the restrictions on meeting up with your partner though :(

I hope you won't need to wait much longer :)

Idiots =x
Did you get a shielding letter? I didn't, and that was...unsettling. My health has been monitored for the better part of the last decade and I was mostly forgotten about once the pandemic hit. Not that I mind that to some extent - I hate being checked on - but yeah, I think my local surgery has struggled with things as well. Overworked and underpaid =/

I'm hoping WFH will become a new normal - or at least an accepted normal alongside office working - because I don't think I could ever go back to the office after this (and if they try, I'll be having words with my GP - if nothing else I couldn't do my current hours in office) and really I think the pandemic has demonstrated just how beneficial WFH is and how unnecessary being in an office can be. There have been resource problems, but we've all managed well enough...in fact, considering we've been down one person since November, I think we've done more than well enough >.>

Well, we've waited four years, a few more months won't kill us, haha. Better to be separated and alive than together and ill or struggling!

No, I never got a shielding letter, which means I couldn't access food delivery slots for a while when I should have been able too. My doctors told me I have to though, figure that out. I have heard a few others not getting the letter too. Must be hell working in the NHS right now tbf.

I seen enough when I was rushed to A&E last March. The pandemic had just hit, and my local hospital didn't have proper protocols in place at that time. There was covid patients everywhere on the emergency ward I was put on. I will never forget seeing them all, or the doctors, nurses, porters etc. struggling so much to deal with it all. My sister-in-law recently told me she wasn't gonna get the jab because "covid doesn't scare her". I told her about it in graphic detail, and she soon stopped that and got vaccinated.

*massive hugs* to anyone on PC who works in any essential areas btw <3

I hope you get to be together soon! :)

We got my step father's death certificate.
Thing is, his bills are not forgiven, we have to pay them.

Megan March 19th, 2021 9:46 AM

Feeling a little bit unwell. Last thing I need is getting sick during the pandemic, though. <_<
Welp, time to mass consume water and tea!

Reminds me of my mother. She works in a home for older people and told me that neither she nor her colleges want to get vaccinated because side effects and whatnot. She also was quarantined a couple weeks because of covid but is doing fine now. Not sure if she got vaccinated, though. Did I mention that we have a priority list and we are still at the 70+ year range, going down?

"Sorry, your father died. He had debt. It's not your fault, but you're gonna pay it, anyway". <- the system working as intended.
Hope it's not too much!

I'm sorry for your loss Sandalphon. I know what it's like to lose a family member that close. Sorry you have to pay his bills. *hugs*

Hate to add to the sad train here, but I just found out my Grandma has Covid. She is hospitalized now and is taking meds. I'm scared for her.

I hope the bills aren't too much and they can be sorted through without much stress. Please remember to take care of yourself.

Here when someone passes, nobody becomes liable for another's debt (unless it was joint) but a creditor can make a claim against the estate.

I don't know what the laws are in your country, but now is really not the time for harassment 😡

Try to stay strong Sandalphon :)

*big hugs* for both of you

No debts are forgiven here, even in death.
Like if you die and your rent is due? Your family has to pay it.

Jeez. I hope they do the right thing and back off for a little while at least :)

Megan March 21st, 2021 7:11 AM

I somehow managed to burn through my entire stash of Green Tea during the weekend. Now I'm down to Cranberry tea and Ginger tea...

I like the Cranberry one especially as it lacks this sour taste a lot of fruit teas have. It was a little on the expensive site, though.

Sothis March 21st, 2021 9:35 PM

I only saw "entire stash of green" at first lol

pkmin3033 March 21st, 2021 9:47 PM

Another weekend gone...day-to-day living is really exhausting right now =/

Megan March 21st, 2021 10:20 PM

And another month of lockdown ahead! I know I shouldn't keep complaining because there's a good reason behind it. At the same time, it doesn't change the fact that politicians in my country can't get things under control and everything is overbeaurocratized (is this even a word? Well, it should be!). Also AZs vaccine is now being rejected by the majority of the population which means a lot of doses just end up sitting around, waiting to expire because a lot of the people who actually do have the opportunity cancel it because "oh now medicine can have side effects". Btw. they also have found out what caused that side effect and even have found ways to treat it in case it actually happens (the chance of it occuring is also very very low, btw.).

pkmin3033 March 21st, 2021 10:24 PM

The fuss surrounding the AZ vaccine is absolutely absurd - there is literally no evidence of the things that are being claimed, and if it's approved for use by regulators who actually know what they're talking about, that should be good enough. It's pathetic anti-vax propoganda.

My father had the AZ jab a couple of weeks ago and he had absolutely no side effects.
