Here are my posting rules
  • Decide Every color
  • I do only pokemon, not trainers
  • No Fusions
  • Only 1 request per post
  • I do only RS/FR,LG sprites,
Not all the colors will work, if they don't I will post that and you can RErequest. If you do not follow these rules, your post will be ignored

Alex_ July 15th, 2005 4:26 PM

Wow,your shading is pretty bad. You need to work on it big time.

Umbreon's Shadow July 15th, 2005 4:27 PM

You seriously need to work on these. The Wailord is blurry, the Zapdos has praticly no shading, and the Eevee has no shading at all.1/10

Firemaker July 15th, 2005 4:28 PM

I will metion a few things, these are my 1st recolors

How is my shading wrong?
Yes Wailord is somehow blurry, and Zapdos does have shading. Eevee doesn't but Zapdos does :\

Alex_ July 15th, 2005 4:30 PM

It just needs work, and if you're just starting, you really shouldn't be opening a request thread.

Umbreon's Shadow July 15th, 2005 4:30 PM

Being your first is NO excuse. And by awful shading,i mean there is no darker or lighter colors to make it realistic.

Firemaker July 15th, 2005 4:33 PM

Umbreon Shadow, There is shading, you cannot see it.
_Alex_ maybe you're right but I need practice recoloring and it is hard to decide.

Alex_ July 15th, 2005 4:34 PM

Firemaker there is little shading or none at all.

You are right there is little shading, but that is shading

Umbreon's Shadow July 15th, 2005 4:38 PM

Thats the problem.Little shading isnt good. You need good shading. But train and you may get it right.

Sylphiel July 15th, 2005 4:39 PM

Since others have mentioned shading, I'll mention other things as well:

My advice would just be to not use bright colors. Like the magenta on the houndour, or the lime green on the wailord...bright colors like that really don't suit pokemon sprites, and tend to stick out way too much.

Oh, and if possible, never ever save a sprite in .jpg format. The file compression tends to make sprites not look as good as they could be.

I actually see shading on the eevee, it's just that because there's not much in the way of value difference, it's not seen well enough. When shading, watch out for that - make sure there's enough of a difference between the lightness/darkness of the colors chosen, so that any shading/highlighting attempts can be seen.

I do like your porygon, though, just because of the colors used for it.

Firemaker July 15th, 2005 4:39 PM

I am training by taking requests, that way I can hear an opinion other than you and _Alex_

I agree with that statement. Firemaker, pratice your shading as much as possible BEFORE opening a request shop. Your first try is no excuse when it comes to spriting. Look at the Houndour, the shading is horrible on it, and Zapdos and Eevee don't even have any shading at all. Try harder next time, and
you'll get better. ;D

Firemaker July 15th, 2005 4:41 PM

Ok then, this should be closed or and deleted

Umbreon's Shadow July 15th, 2005 4:42 PM

Okay then il give you some simple things too do.Do not rush it or it will look bad.

Red Jigglypuff
Red Chansey

The only ok recolours I see are Krabby and the sixth one.

Sawyer July 15th, 2005 4:49 PM

well, i don't know much about spriting, but i can tell the difference between good and bad :x the only good one, imo is the porygon, because the colors don't look like normal MSPaint colors, as the rest do. i can hardly tell the Wailord is a wailord.. x.x
if you wanted people to see your first-try sprites, you should make a new thread, rather than make a request thread. i can, however, understand where he's coming from. maybe he wanted to get better and be good enough for other people to want his sprites... i see that a lot in G&P, only with banners, not sprites. *shrugs*

I know Chansey looks bad, that was because I used Paint Bucket instead of Selective Color

Shikon no Tama July 15th, 2005 4:57 PM

I can't see Chansey's outlines! >.<;;; And those look like the default MS Paint colours too on Chansey. Jigglypuff looks good from what I can see.

Alex_ July 15th, 2005 4:58 PM

If you truly want me to close this, just say.

Black Gligar July 15th, 2005 5:03 PM

Like most have said you need to work on shading. The only good ones are krabby, porygon, and omnamyte. The wailord would look better if it wasn't a jpeg. And the magmar isn't even recolored. Just inverted OO. And for the chansey, I'll give you a little advice. Never, ever, EVER, use default paint colors. *calms down*

Firemaker July 15th, 2005 5:07 PM

For magmar, I did not invert it. I recolored it and that is what it looked like strangely. and for chansey I had to use default paint color, it would be pink otherwise

Umbreon's Shadow July 16th, 2005 2:15 AM

You can simply change the colors by double clicking on the dots for them. But that also is no excuse.Unless you are using 16 bit BMPs,you could do better. The chansey looks awful but the 'puff looks okay.

Firemaker July 16th, 2005 7:07 AM

I have redone the Chansey

The shading and outlining is still horrible...
