Anime is Banned in my country/rarely exists YAY!!!! (Want to curse our tv industry)

Hi guys!
I am back after so many days of my exams, but unfortunately my exams are in a rapid fire mod so they will begin again in just a few days and I have to be underground again.

Anyways you probably know about my country and if you don't then let me tell you I am from India. Now if you are Indian then you probably know that there are no anime in India and even if they are they are for general kids but fortunately we had the privilege of watching Pokemon. But it there are no teenage anime in India which are currently airing and you may probably say that they are non existence in our country but maybe in future we can have done back. Yes you heard it right back because in India from 1990 to 2010 anime were there in India. But then after 2010 some shit Indian animation started airing and gained popularity because kids were more in population than teenagers and that's why anime became non existence in India but still there was hope as Animax was there for us but unfortunately in 2017 it was removed from TV and was replaced by Sony y a y which aired worst animation. It was still in in Sony LIV app and can be watched by purchasing a premium but it again in 2018 it was completely removed from our country and now we have to unwillingly shit degraded Indian animation or have to watch anime illegally online. So so is there a similar scenario in your country.

I can't say I quite follow, why was anime supposedly banned in your country?

As for mine, it's not something that often airs on TV but I believe it's still seen somewhat in short amounts on certain channels, typically those for things like saturday morning cartoons. I haven't had cable in years, take that with a grain of salt.

I'll typically just watch anime online so the lack of cable's never bothered me. If you're someone who watches anime regularly or is watching current seasonal anime, it's probably best to just check common services you hear of online. The first two that come to mind (and search results) for me are Crunchyroll and Funimation, though I'm sure some sites that license anime should have streaming available legally.

No my dear, it is not like that, Anime is not banned here but aurs only kids anime like Doraemon, Shinchan and Pokemon. More may exists and second there are some censorship on crunchyroll for example for kill la kill it is not available here. But it is just like a ban.

BTW thanks for suggestions. 🙂🙂🙂 :) :)

This reminds me a little bit of the late 00s. Back then there was this hugh crash in the anime industry. One of the results was that a channel with a fairly popular anime block took it down and replaced it with 90s sitcoms. It seemed like they didn't consider anime profitable anymore and apparently the target group for sitcoms (old people) was.

Nowadays we don't really think about these things anymore, though. With streaming services and other means to gain access being all over the internet...

But I understand your pain.

i don't think i've watched cable tv (or tv in general) in years. all the anime i could ever want to watch is always readily available online via a plethora of streaming sites or download sites outside of the aforementioned popular ones like crunchyroll. now, is this method not as law-abiding as one would want? indeed. do people (including authorities) in my country care at all? absolutely not.

from what i've heard, i believe India should be the same no?

Please don't call me that.
And... that did not clear up my confusion at all. "It's not banned but it's just like a ban"?

Backpedaling to my previous post (and agreeing with Roni's as well), yeah streaming online is probably just your best bet. People mention using VPNs to watch shows not available in their country all the time, it's something I've never done but hey, people talk about it often for a reason, right?

Similar situation. Most of the anime that comes out in English doesn't get aired here, it goes to the US. We didn't get YYH, Kenshin, Evangelion, Cowboy Bebop, etc. We did get Inuyasha though.
