Sweet Hearts ♥ Valentine's day event 2021
Sweet Hearts ![]() Once upon a time, there was a Challenge mod who devised a system of random, stacking rules to bring pain and frustration down onto the lives of so many innocent challengers. He soon disappeared behind the curtains, but his dreadful legacy lived on and on... until a newcomer with a pure heart stepped in, fighting valiantly for freedom, acuity and peace of mind. Then came the other mod and said: "Not so soon, kiddo." General Rules: ♥ This Challenge can be completed on almost any main series Pokémon game. Additionally, any ROM hack or fan game completed through 8 gym badges and an Elite Four counts as well. It is, however, more geared towards newer games - you may want to keep that in mind! ♥ The Challenge is completed once you beat the region’s Elite Four and the credits fully roll. Yes, that means beating AZ or running from Koko if that’s the type of thing your game makes you do. ♥ This Challenge runs from February 14th to March 14th, 2021 (so from St. Valentine's Day to White Day!) ♥ To make sure you've read the rules, your favorite ship is... see down below. ♥ Legendary and Mythical Pokémon are banned from this challenge. Pokémon Amie, Refresh, and the EXP Share are allowed in all games in which they exist. ♥ If you need to evolve a Pokémon through trading, feel free to do so. Otherwise, no trading is allowed. Similarly, hacking or trading in items is allowed for evolutions, provided it is unavailable before the Elite Four in your game. Ok, now how does this work? Well, glad you asked! During this journey across your favorite Pokémon region, you'll be able to meet many other traveling trainers. You can spend time with them, get to know them, and of course, go out on dates with them! Actually, that should be the very first reason why you're here in this moment of the year. ♥ You'll start the game by dating someone right away! Then, at each badge you obtain, you will have the opportunity to date another trainer from the Contact List, or keep dating the same person you already got to know. ♥ Every time a trainer goes out on a date, they will show more sides of their personality... that is, more rules that you'll have to follow if you want to win their heart! One date is one more rule, up to a total of 6. In addition to that, you will also get to know their Trainer Class and Favorite Pokémon. This is going to become public information quite soon, though - rumors spread fast here! Btw everyone knows you like Akiza and Yusei as a couple.♥ Your objective is obviously to win the heart of the trainers you'll date! To do that and get some sweet Sweet Hearts, though, you'll have to follow all of their indications! Just one broken rule, and the amount of Love Points you get from your date is... zero! Since these trainers will essentially become more and more picky as time goes on, you will need to be very careful about who you date! And that's really the gist of it. Zero points? Oh no... what do I do now? ♥ Don't worry! There are other ways to get some Love Points. The easiest way is to date a trainer with the same Trainer Class as you. And the second is... to use the Pokémon they like the most! You'll get some points if your team includes at least one of the Pokémon your date has listed, but you'll get even more if your team includes only Pokémon from said list! ♥ Oh, you should also know that for each date, some more special, random things could happen... :) O-ok, I like this! How do I play? ♥ First of all, time to sign up! The information you need to provide is the usual: ✨ Your name: ✨ Your Trainer Class: ✨ Your game of choice: ✨ Your favorite ship: ✨ Your challenge mode: ✨ Your first date: ♥ The points are... oh, this is going to be complicated... • Rules: if you manage to follow all of them during your date, you'll get 1 point for the first rule, 2 for the second, and so on! With 6 rules, for example, you would get 21 points all in once... provided you can actually do that. Good luck! • Pokémon: 1 point for each Pokémon in your team that your date also likes... but you will have to keep said Pokémon in your team for the whole date, or for as long as it's available to you, no exceptions! As said before, if your team is entirely made out of Pokémon your date likes, these points are tripled! Furthermore, these points will apply to both the Pokémon listed, and all its pre-evolutions, but not its evolutions or branching evolutions. So if a trainer uses a Roselia, you'll get points for using a Budew, but not for Roserade. And if a trainer uses a Vileplume, then no points for Bellossom! You can still keep Pokémon that don't fit the rules you're given in your team (for example, a Normal type Pokémon in a Bug monotype) only if said Pokémon do not participate in battle. Otherwise, the rule will be considered failed! • Trainer Class: that's 3 points, but it only happens once for each trainer! And just so you know, picking Gym Leader or Rival as a trainer class for yourself is... not advised. ♥ Oh right, the "challenge mode" part in the sign up form? See, there's a special way to play this challenge, that involves choosing each date randomly instead of doing so the usual way. So, just specify "normal" or "random" to let everyone know how you're deciding who to go out on a date with! ♥ Usually a like on your post will be my way of saying... "ok, I've read your update and made it so that all the info you need to continue shows up in the Contact List!" Make sure to keep an eye on it regardless though, to see what the other players may be up to... If things go bad, blame the new mod Contact Lists: ♥ Contact list 1 - Gym Leaders and Rivals! ♥ Contact list 2 ♥ Contact list 3 - NEW! More trainers coming in the following days, stay tuned to find more potential partners! List of players and Scoreboard: RANDOM MODE: • Janp - Pokémon X - Champion - 82 points • PokéGuy1238 - Pokémon Black - 0 points - currently dating Skyla • Kostucha - Pokémon Shield - Champion - 92 points • Eleanor - Pokémon Sword - Champion - 47 points NORMAL MODE: • Cubeth - Pokémon Emerald - Champion - 68 points • Hyzenthlay - Pokémon Platinum - 5 badges - 18 points - currently dating Luke |

Sweet Hearts in Pokémon Xhttps://play.pokemonshowdown.com/sprites/trainers/pokemonbreederf.pngDATING BEATRIXI got to Aquacorde Town and met with Beatrix. We decided to get a coffee in Santalune City. While we were walking through Santalune Forest, she revealed she loves going on a walk here. She is currently taking care of some Bug-type Pokémon and helped me catch a Weedle. We challenged few trainers together and Weedle evolved into Kakuna just like our releationship evolved to another level. We got to Santalune around a noon and decided to grab something to eat. We also visited local gallery, where I challenged Viola. I started with Fennekin and had type disadvantage against her Surskit. I couldn't use Ember because of Water Sport, so I boost Fennekin's Attack with Howl and attacked with Scratch. It took me a while, but Surskit went down. But Fennekin was badly hurt, so I switched in Kakuna, healed Fennekin and sent it back out. It was close, but Fennekin beat Vivillon. Kakuna evolved after this battle to its final form, just like our love got to the final hour. We said goodbye and parted our ways. I rolled another date and ended up with Jasmine. THE SWEET HEARTS CHALLENGE Basic info Game: Pokemon Black Dating Skyla https://play.pokemonshowdown.com/sprites/trainers/skyla.png BADGE ONE- TRIO BADGE- PART 1 I start the challenge by naming myself as PokeGuy. My ID number is 4 so I decided to pick the second Pokemon in the box- Tepig. The battle against Bianca was very easy. Tepig and Snivy landed tackles but after 2 tackles, Snivy switched to Leer. I won after landing 2 more. The battle against Cheren was much easier. Tepig outsped Oshawott and landed 2 tackles. The third tackle crit, knocking Oshawott out. Pretty easy rival battles. I went downstairs where Cheren and Bianca apologized for destroying my room. Meanies! My mother healed Tepig and gave me the X Transceiver. I set off towards the Professor's Lab but saw Bianca going to her house. I followed her to her house so Cheren, Bianca and I could go together. But her father wasn't too happy about her leaving. When she saw me, Bianca got a bit embarrassed and went towards the lab where they were waiting for me. We went inside the lab together. I name my Tepig, Pig. Then Juniper gives us the PokeDex and tells us to meet her at Route 1. On coming outside my mother gives us the Town Map. Then I go to Route 1 where the Professor teaches us how to catch a Pokemon and also gives us the Pokeballs. In Route 1, I catch my first Pokemon, Pup the Lillipup. While there, I also add Rat the Patrat to the team. After winning the little contest, I make my way to the Pokemon Center in Accumula Town. She teaches us about the Pokemon Center, PokeMart and the PC. When we come out, I find out something is going on in the Plaza. Could the Plaza be the place where I meet the person I will date? I guess we will find out next time... Update 1 – Grass Gym
I'd say Drew was quite co-operative on our date, the selection of pokemon he wanted me to use didn't put me at an advantage in the gym but it also didn't give me any disatvantage either. I started my game normally and as soon as I could I caught a Rookidee and boxed my starter. Later in the Wild Area I caught a bunch of pokemon including a Bounsweet which I immediately put on my team and boxed the rest (not exactly sure how the team points are counted but I did that just in case). After I finally got out of Wild Area I went to Route 3 and caught a Gossifleur. The gym battle was quite slow and uneventful. After many turns of exchanging punches I emerged victorious and got the Grass Badge. Team: Spoiler:
*Rolls* Looks like my next date is Gary! |

Have no time for fancy css, just know that I got my first badge by playing absolutely normally and getting no pokemon in Ivy's team, nor following her rules. She was way too picky and stubborn with a fledgling trainer, never again.
I just used my Corvisquire and Raboot to beat Yarrow, no problem at all since he only has 2 Pokémon. But now my next date has to be... Luke! Let's hope things go better this time... Edit: I updated myself too |
Sweet Hearts Event Part 1!! Game: Pokémon Emerald Current date: Flannery Rules: 1. You may not KO any wild Pokémon for experience during this date. Ain't got time for that. I start the game as pretty much everyone knows, getting to Littleroot Town and setting up the clock. After meeting Birch's son, Brendan, I go meet the Professor himself, except that he isn't in town at the moment, but doing some research on Pokémon habitat. My only hope is to either wait for him to come back or face the dangers of level 2 Pokémon on route 1 myself. At the exit of Littleroot town, the girl that's been guarding the path to Route 1 this whole time tells me there's something going on out there, however, she is too scared to go as she got no Pokémon with her. I take a step outside the town and my sight directly moves towards a Zigzagoon chasing who seems to be Professor Birch. He needs help, so I just slapped that Zigzagoon with some Fire chicken. Btw, I don't know if that battle fucks up the rule or not, because it's pretty much imposible to run away from it (I tried to, Birch won't let me). After saving Birch from being eaten by a lvl 2 Zigzagoon, he tells me to go find Brendan in route idr the number exactly. 102 I think. It needed two potions for me to beat him, considering I couldn't grind with wild Pokémon and his Mudkip got two crits as well.: After that I went west of Oldale and caught a wild Lotad and when heading to Rustboro I beat all the trainers on the way there. In the end, Roxanne was taken down by Lotad alone and it evolved once the battle was over. Current team: Will date Rosa next. |
Just a super quick update for now because I'mmm super distracted and want to keep playing!
So dating Wallace actually went pretty smoothly - it was a breeze winning the coal badge with two water-type cuties on my team, Pingu the Piplup and Spira the Magikarp! But sorry Wallace, this heartbreaker won't be keeping you around if it means facing Gardenia with water Pokémon. :eleanoractually: I think I'll try taking Silver on a date! https://i.ibb.co/5LpWLck/coal-badge.png https://i.ibb.co/09D6qbW/coal-badge-team.png |
Sweet Hearts Event Part 2!! Game: Pokémon Emerald Current date: Rosa Rules: 1. You may not leave a new area, or use items on your Pokémon, until you beat all the available trainers. I went outside Rustboro City with my two Pokémon onto the next gym, which would be Dewford. Before that, I'm stopped by some guy from Devon who I helped before, who got the Devon Goods stolen by some Team Aqua Grunt and went to some cave with Whismur I don't remember the name. In the route near that tunnel I catch a Taillow and a Nincada. Second one pretty slow to train, but somewhat necessary for the next gym. I get to not train either of those Pokémon much because I can't leave the route without beating all the trainers there and thank god I remembered getting Cut in Rustboro before that lmao or that would've make me break my rule. After that I got to battle an Aqua Grunt's Poochyena. Was about to take it down with Nincada alone, but after two consecutive Howls I ended up switching out and beat it with Lombre instead. After that I battled Brendan at the exit of Rustboro, it was a pretty easy battle led by Nugget and Lombre. I messed up and went to the Pokémon Center before that, so if that counts as breaking the rule... well too bad for me ig. I headed to Dewford and before challenging the Gym I challenged the two fishermen in there with Nincada alone and then moved to Granite Cave where I spent my time taking that Pokémon to level 20 so I could finally get Shedinja. I boxed Ninjask after that as well. I also delivered the letter to Steven while I was at it. I wanted to beat Dewford's Gym pretty much saving Shedinja from every battle, going for a Taillow sweep for most trainers, but I fucked up lol, so Nugget (now evolved, btw) and Lotad took a bit of damage too. Still, Shedinja was able to solo Brawly's team with Double Team (I thought his Makuhita would have Knock Off, but it didn't) and Fury Cutter, giving me a really easy victory. Disgusting, I know. But I beat the Gym without leaving or using any items :femme2: Current team: Will date Korrina now. |
Update 2 – Water Gym
Gary was a good date. The rule was easy to follow and his favourite pokemon made this segment quite easy. Noctowl is actually pretty powerful. After meeting up with Gary I retrieved Rookidee from the box and then went back to Wild Area to catch a Hoothoot. Then I trained them up fed them some exp candies until they reached 20s or so. Nessa was fine, Reflect actually helped quite a bit, allowing Noctowl to deal a lot of damage without healing. Team: Spoiler:
My next random date seems to be Koga. |
Spoiler:
Updated the scoreboard and added all the information to the Contact list for Korrina, Koga and Silver! You all followed your rules, so it's one point for all of you, but Kostucha also used only Pokémon from Gary's team as soon as they were available, netting him 6 more points! |
Badge 2 dealt with! I had a Frillish in my team from before, so I could use that to catch more Water types and keep going from there. Wild area + Keelford net me very useful Pokémon such as Drednaw, Gyarados, Chinchou, Arrokuda - all that could go along with my Frillish from before to create a very strong Water monotype team, just like Luke asked! I also used some of the Pokémon he liked - in this case, Drednaw, and that should net me one more point!
get it? because Net balls? Nets? Fishing? aw... I probably should've been more careful with my Water types, and keep something like Goldeen or Remoraid in my team for longer, but I ended up not doing so because of some unfortunate Dynamax battles / team swaps so... oopsies! Time to roll for my next date now, who happens to be... oh no... Silver as well! Adding a new rule to him and picking my solo run partner for this part soon... something tells me I'll just go as fast as possible. Btw! The new rule only applies to me, not to Clover who's already dating him~ |
Super quick I know... but I also dealt with Badge 3 very fast! I did a Drednaw solo run, and managed to never faint despite Marnie (yes, Marnie) giving me a lot of trouble...
The Gym battle was not as easy as expected because of Intimidate Arcanine and Will-o-wisp, but even with those debuffs I was still able to defeat Centiskorch with just 2 Rock Tombs while Dynamaxed... phew! And now, next up is *rolls*... Sophie! 😇 Time to continue! Everything should be updated! |
Update 3 – Fire Gym
To start off I went to the nearby Galar Mine and got a Croagunk, then I wandered yet again to Wild Area and caught a Koffing and a Skorupi. Koga's conditions made the gym much harder and I had to reset a few times. Ultimately I started with Skorupi setting 2x Toxic Spikes and after defeating Ninetales with Croagunk's Venoshock I switched to Koffing, which I would constantly heal and occasionaly nibble the opponents with Round. Not the cleanest win but a win is a win :P if only rain dance was available like a town earlier Team: Spoiler:
Chloe is my next date, also I believe my points for the first badge were not counted. |
Sweet Hearts Event Part 3!! Game: Pokémon Emerald Current date: Korrina Rules: 1: You may only have one Pokémon per evolution family at all times (Hard Dupes Clause). Before going to Slateport, I headed to Granite Cave to catch a Makuhita just so I could evolve it at level 24, which is near Watson's level, and have one of Korrina's favorite Pokémon. I think it works that way, right? Well, if it doesn't, then it was still worth it. I beat pretty much everyone at Slateport just so I could level up the other 4 Pokémon I had. I battled the Team Aqua Grunts in the Oceanic Museum as well, pretty much soloed by Makuhita and went to change my Pokémon's names in the Name Rater. I battled everyone on my way to Mauville, including the Trick House and also got the Coin Case. Makuhita and Taillow both evolved before challenging Watson. Watson's battle was also really easy. At first, I went for a Shedinja sweep again, but I didn't count on his Voltorb having Rollout and it died turn one. After that, it was a Nugget and Maku game. Hariyama ended beating the gym. Current team: Will keep dating Korrina. |
Spoiler:
Contact list was updated. Points in the main post will be updated shortly. |
Sweet Hearts Event Part 4!! Game: Pokémon Emerald Current date: Korrina Rules: 1: You may only have one Pokémon per evolution family at all times (Hard Dupes Clause). 2: You must have a bike in your bag by the end of this date. Skates (X/Y) work too. Ok, I actually got my bike before even challenging Watson, so that covers the second rule. After beating him, I went to Fiery Path and then to Fallabour. Just battling and leveling up so I could get as close as possible to level 29 which is around Flannery's level. I went to Meteor Falls and then to Mt. Chimney, trying to recover Professor Cozmo's Meteorite that was stolen by Team Magma because they wanted to make Mt. Chimney erupt and die or something along those lines. If I'm not mistaken, I beat Maxie with only Talon because Tabitha's Numel activated his ability and that just broke Maxie's battle and it was glorious. I hope I could've said the same thing about Flannery's battle, though. It was hard and everything because of that Torkoal. The fact that I didn't have any special attackers to deal with it (Kappa doesn't know any water type moves) just made this battle really hard. In the end I beat her with Talon being the last Pokémon... that was the first time. After I was done with Flannery I accidentaly closed the game without saving :(. Thankfully I saved just before the battle, but still had to battle her again. The second time I beat her was with Combusken in front instead of Lombre. Nugget managed to take down most of her team, with Focus Energy + Double Kick combo, leaving him to die against Torkoal's Overheat activating its item. Once that was done, Shedinja was a perfect pivot to force it use Overheat again, reducing its Sp.Atk two stages. Then goes Hariyama, a Body Slam from her Torkoal activates her ability and it dies in two Vital Throws. Current team: Will keep dating Korrina. |
Spoiler:
Rules for Korrina have been updated, and so have been the scores! That is +3 for the two rules and +1 for the Hariyama. For clarification, the new rule will mean that... you cannot use in battle any Pokémon with less than 100 Speed, unless it's for catching a Pokémon that already has that Speed value in the wild. If you don't have any of those Pokémon, then the rule will be seen as "failed"! But there's a little random effect that happened... you have a 1/3 chance of getting it for every date, starting from your third badge. This time it happened, and it's a positive one: You get to swap one of Korrina's favorite Pokémon with one of your choice! Please let me know your decision at the end of the current date, and remember - if you only use Pokémon that are in her team, your points are multiplied! |
Sophie is such a dreamboat! I did go through some trouble at first, but I eventually built a fantastic team that fit perfectly with her rule and, not to mention... is exactly made up of the Pokémon she likes! I did get lucky here by getting this trainer at this point in the game.
Yes, because I used my Drednaw to catch a little Bronzor right away and continue on with just that. Often I'd run into Bronzor I couldn't catch, but eventually it happened! With my new friend - who also happened to know Hypnosis - I caught some other of Sophie's favorite Pokémon: Elgyem, Baltoy, Dottler. With this team, I got all the way to Stow-on-side (believe it or not, my newly evolved Bronzong was hitting way harder than I expected and totally crushed most trainers with a single Heavy Slam) and caught another member of the team, Shiinotic. The Gym battle was a solo Bronzong sweep, thanks to its high level, Leftovers, Iron Defense + Body Press for Pangoro (which actually swept me on the first attempt, ugh...) and perfectly timed Dynamax. That should net me 1 point for the rule, plus... wait for it, 3 x 5 = 15 points for using all of Sophie's favorite Pokémon (except Clefairy, which I can't find) and nothing else! But... fate has spoken. I won't get any helpful side effect, nothing. And I'll have to date Ivy again. This time I'm determined to impress you, girl. |
Gym 5 beaten! But how did it get there?
Well, as soon as I beat Bea, I had to add a Female Stunky I already had in my box to the squad, and replace all Pokémon with females. No problem there, because even if I had to say goodbye to my amazing Bronzong, I still had the Drednaw from before, ready to go and at a very good level! I got her on the team, alongside the Shiinotic from the last date, a wild Tsareena, a Gloom, and a Boldore I got from a raid. With this team - and especially by giving my Gloom an Eviolite - I had no problems whatsoever with Poppy... except for that Mawile. Ugh. Luckily, Drednaw outpowered it through brute force, allowing me to laugh in Alcremie's face with Gloom and Shiinotic. Now the interesting part... this is where it becomes a blind run for me, because this is as far as I've got in Pokémon Sword. I don't really know what's waiting for me and I also have more rules to follow, so this will be fun! As for the points! 1+2 points for following all of Ivy's rules (keeping Stunky in the team and using only Female Pokémon), but no rules for Pokémon since basically none of her team members are accessible to me. As for next date... it's Gary, the birdkeeper! So says destiny. And finally... I also got a random effect this time! It says that I can remove a rule from a trainer of my choice. And that trainer will have to be... Silver obviously. That would be very difficult to work with if I happen to date him again... |
Update 4 – Ghost Gym
I really liked the team I got to use for this segment. Chloe is a great date. First things first, I retrieved a Cleffa that I caught earler and taught it Attract. Then I backtracked to the Galar Mine to catch a Woobat, and later a Hatenna in Motostoke Outskirts and Minccino in Wild Area. Drove around a bunch doing some wild dens until the friendship mons evolved and also I got a Shiny Stone from Digging Duo for Minccino. With a team like that I was ready to move forward. the upcoming route was quite enjoyable. I might have been a little bit too overconfident in the gym and it got a bit close, but I pulled through and got the Badge. Team: Spoiler:
Got Gale as my next date |
Spoiler:
Updated! You get 3x4=12 points for using only Pokémon in Chloe's team, plus 1 point for her rule - that's a whopping 13 points! You also get a little side effects though... and it says, that You may never date Gale again after this one time! Since you're doing a random challenge, that just means that you'll have to reroll if you happen to come across him :) |
Sorry for all these posts, but I shall update myself once again! I just got my sixth badge against Gordie and it was once again very easy - thanks to Bronzong, Drednaw and Gloom!
I added Hoothoot and Corvisquire to get myself 2 Points for using these Pokémon, but I did a pretty big mistake by having my Hoothoot forget its only Status move after a while... that will cost me the 3 Points I could've got from Gary for his rules :)) That nets me two points still, better than nothing - and a side effect... yes, I rolled for it again! Another random trainer will get one of their rules revealed! That trainer happens to be Kris, who's never been dated before - meaning, her basic information will have to be revealed as well! For those of you doing the Normal Challenge, this is your lucky day~ As for my next date, that's going to be... Hugh :fufu: |
Forest Badge complete! "Play this date as a Solo run with a Pokémon of your choice!" So I guess mercilessly dumping Wallace at the Oreburgh City gym gave me bad karma, because impressing badboy Silver on our first date proved... tiresome, at best. Trudging through Eterna Forest with Cheryl, our (lovely) third wheel, as I grind EXP endlessly for Ponyta is not my idea of a perfect date, which is exactly what we did after wiping out Team Galactic at the Valley Windworks. Oh yeah, but we did hang around a bit in the underground... that was fun!! https://i.ibb.co/LrzxtL6/Pokemon-Platinum-Version-USA-Rev-1-20061.png Before facing Gardenia, I heard that my rival is ahead of me again... Janp, I think his name was? https://i.ibb.co/X7dtdgp/his-name-was-jamp.png Ohh right, it was Jamp! My bad! No wonder he's beating me, he doesn't have a date to drag along... Anyway, it all payed out in the end, as my dear overlevelled Ponyta burnt the entire Eterna Gym to a crisp! :) https://i.ibb.co/DV5Hgxv/forest-badge.png For all the effort I poured into grinding, I sure hope the next trainer I ask out doesn't hate fire-types, or horses, or Pokémon with decent speed or something... and yes, that means I'll be dumping Silver! I'm going to try dating Annika and pray she likes Pokémon that are available in Gen 4. :why: |
Sweet Hearts Event Part 5!! Game: Pokémon Emerald Current date: Korrina Rules: 1: You may only have one Pokémon per evolution family at all times (Hard Dupes Clause). 2: You must have a bike in your bag by the end of this date. Skates (X/Y) work too. 3: You may only use Pokémon with more than 100 as their current Speed stat. Was supposed to post this yesterday but I didn't log in here lmao. There's really nothing to say here other than I did some speed EV training so my Pokémon got to at least 100 points on that stat. I did swap Shedinja for Ninjask and boxed the whole team with the exception of Swellow though because of the same reason. I think I fucked up because I totally missed the part when Loomsie said that I couldn't catch any new Pokémon unless it already had that speed in the wild because I did catch a wild Zigzagoon and a Zubat. All the team ended with 100+ speed, though so I think they are completely utilizable for the next segment :femme2: Norman was honestly really easy. I just lowered his Spinda's accuracy with Linoone's Sand Attack and then switched to Ninjask to build on evasiveness and Swords Dance. Some bad RNG from his Slaking broke the sweep sadly and it died by Facade, but it was ultimately taken down by Swellow. Current team: Will keep dating Korrina and gonna replace her Mienshao for Linoone. |

Korrina has some new rules for you. Check the contact list. |
Sweet Hearts in Pokémon Xhttps://play.pokemonshowdown.com/sprites/trainers/jasmine.pngDATING JASMINEI met with Jasmine, got to Lumiose City, where we visited a 5* restaurant. Then I got Squirtle from Sycamore, caught Snorlax on Route 7 (I left it on my team, but barely used it) and continued on to Glittering Cave. There I spent an eternity getting Onix and Mawile. And when I say eternity, I mean it. It took me about at hour to encounter both Pokémon. I went in with 25+ Poké Balls and left the cave with only 2 left. I got hit by Jasmine's poison rule unexpectedly during the first Team Flare episode. The very first Team Flare Grunt's Houndour dropped a poisoned Smog on Wartortle and then the other Grunt's Gulpin shot poisoned Sludge right in Snorlax's face. So I lost two Pokémon to this rule. I got to Cyllage City, caught Luvdisc with Old Rod and traded it for Steelix right away. Now I was ready for Grant. Climbing his mountain was annoying. Both Onix and Steelix did barely any damage with their Gyro Ball and my other Pokémon had disadvantage against Rock-types. But Grant himself was a pushover. It only took 5 Gyro Balls from Steelix to get The Cliff Badge. So, the next date is... Polly! Which means Onix will be boxed. That's sad. Sweet Hearts in Pokémon Xhttps://play.pokemonshowdown.com/sprites/trainers/pokemonrangerf.pngDATING POLLYI put Onix away to complete the rule and continued on my journey. I had a hard time fighting Korrina in Geosenge Town, especially once my Braixen fainted. I should really get more Pokémon. But after looking through the available Pokémon, I didn't find any that I would want to use right now. I got through Reflection Cave, which is probably my least favourite part of Kalos. It has nice puzzles, but it's so annoying to get through. I quickly beat Serena in Shalour City and challenged Korrina. This fight is a lot easier than her first fight. There is even random trainer in Reflection Cave, that has stronger Hawlucha than Korrina. My Braixen beat her Machoke and Mienfoo and took down about half of Hawlucha's HP, before he fainted. Steelix finished the job. So, this was pretty short update, especially since I decided not to catch any of Polly's Pokémon. I rolled another date and gor Kris. And she's quite moody this time, so I rolled for a special rule and got: Date the same person for the next segment as well. Nice! Update 5 – Fairy Gym
I'm gonna miss Gale, he was another great date, letting me use Cinccino a little bit more :) After assembling my new team, I gave each one a good status move they can use. Honestly this segment is too short to write much about it. Every battle went smoothly inluding the Gym battle. Team: Spoiler:
Don is next. |

Updated! No side effects this time~ As for me, I'm finally back into this! I happened to have a Liepard in my box, but that was all I was allowed to use from that point on, if I wanted to get maximum points. That and Lucario. I had to wait a couple days before getting the right weather for Riolu to appear in the Wild Area - today was the right day, which meant I could finally continue with my challenge. A hefty amount of candies and grinding later, and I had myself a Lucario, ready to take on the entirety of Route 9 and Spikemuth. Marnie gave me trouble once again due to her use of Torment, and Piers did too with his use of Skuntank and Malamar, but... by then, Lucario's level was too high to really be bothered by those two Pokémon. It really is a strong Pokémon, in all games where you can find one. Anyways! Time to finally move on - my next date is going to be *rolls*... oh no... Jasmine! No side effects either, so nothing that can help me... oh well, let's hope things go well - this should be a relatively fast segment, I hope. And as I said, I'm playing basically blind now. |
Last date incoming!
I had a Klink laying around in my box since the days of... my first journey through the Wild Area, so I had to pick that up and use nearly all of my Experience Candies on it, then grind some more on wild Gyarados and Vanilluxe, and I eventually got a relatively decent Eviolite Klang. I used that to finally catch a Mawile, which I had to name Pixel (thanks Clover for the suggestion!) and even later, a Steelix, which turns out will be the saving grace of this date! With this team, I moved forward and battled Raihan. The only relevant battles of this date involved the Gym itself, but they were more than enough to put me to the test. The rain and ice trainers were ridiculously easy thanks to Klinklang's Discharge and Gear Grind, but the Sun trainer was the worst yet, and I literally had to spam revives until Ninetales's sun ran out in order to survive an attack from it with Steelix and retaliate with Dig... still, that was done on my first try, I suppose, so that's good. As for the Gym Leader himself... Mawile dealt with Flygon and Klinklang either kept in check Gigalith or acted as fodder for Sandaconda to redirect all of its attacks onto. And then, there was Steelix... who I decided to Dynamax in order to deal with Duraludon, and thanks to some Curse setup from before, was able to knock it clean out with a single attack. Sandaconda, the last Pokémon left, also went down the same way thanks to a boosted Ice Fang (which turned out to be really helpful for Steelix, especially for a move you can just remember at a Pokémon Center). I get no side effects for this date, it appears that Jasmine liked me enough, and my final date happens to be Karin! Who has never been dated before! Interesting way to close this off. (Points are 3x3 for Pokémon and 3 more for the 2 rules, and that's a total of 12!). |
Another quick update, even though it took a while for me to get through this part.
Since I'll be spending more time with Kris, I decided to pick some of her Pokémon. I caught Masquerain on Route 3, Eevee on Route 10 and Mantyke (and Remoraid so I can evolve it) on Route 12. New rule banned me from using items in battle and it made my new team's grinding a lot slower. Eventually, I got them to high enough levels for them to beat Ramos. Kris' first rule didn't affect me that much, since all of my Pokémon have pretty afwul movesets, so I use only 2 moves anyway. My next date is Kris again, because of the mood. Speaking of moods, I was unlucky enough and got Date the same person for the next segment as well again. I'm feeling a special connection with Kris. I don't really like double posting this fast, but I finished another part.
There wasn't really much to do between 4th and 5th badge. I picked up Steelix back from my PC, because there was no way I would be able to beat Clemont with my current team, since most of them are 4x weak to Electric-types. I beat Team Flare with no problems and made my way to Lumiose City. I bought Bulldoze TM and let Steelix learn it. Nothing can stop me now. I challenged Clemont and was able to quickly take down Emolga with Steelix, but it left Steelix paralyzed. Clemont's Heliolisk did a lot of damage with its Grass Knot and Steelix kept missing because of paralyzation, but with last 9 HP, Steelix was able to beat Heliosk. Clemont's Magneton was just a cherry on top. My next date is Kris again, because of the mood. I rolled for another mood, but got nothing this time. That's good. Now I can meet new people. Update 6 – Ice Gym
I didn't have any of Don's mons so I had to catch a new team anyway. This part went rather well even though I couldn't evolve Onix and Piloswine. Melony's Lapras gave me some trouble as I made some poor choices during the gym battle and had to heal a bunch to get through it. Team: Spoiler:
Looks like Ivy is next! |

Last date with Kris so far is here.
To complete new rule, I flew to Shalour City and bought TM for Hail. And I let Mantine learn it. There wasn't really much happening again between Gyms. But I realized I barely use Masquerain and Eevee. Mantine and Steelix just do all the work. I decided to keep Steelix on my team for this part too, since he's my wild card against Valerie. I started with Mantine and beat her Klefki with few Surfs. I then swtiched to Eevee and used couple of Bites to beat Valerie's Mr. Mime. I finally sent out Steelix to destroy Valerie's final Pokémon - Sylveon. I rolled for a next date and got Piers. He wasn't dated yet, but I'm looking forward his rules and Pokémon. Update 7 – Dark Gym
Ivy was such a bad date, with only Salazzle being available to me. At least it made the rules easy to follow :P While Salazzle is quite powerful, it's also a bit frail, so I decided to get a nice trio of them (which I'm very glad I did). I expected the hunt to take a good while, but somehow I got 3 female Salandits in like 5 encounters, so I can't complain here. First off the Rival battle was already very problematic as he had Inteleon and it kept outspeeding 2/3 of my team. A few of Exp candies later it could only outspeed one of them, so in the end it boiled down to Badly poisoning it with Poison Fang and finishing it off with Venoshock. The rest of his team is pretty weak to WIll-O-Wisp so I managed to get through with it and some occasional healing. Gym battle was slightly less difficult but it was still very close and I had to retry once. The first try I didn't know that Skuntank had Aftermath so as I landed a final hit on his last pokemon, the Aftermath activated and it took my last Salazzle with it, which sadly counts as a loss. The second time I knew what to expect so the battle went a bit smoother. Team: Spoiler:
Uh Oh, Gary is next! This will be interesting... |

This was very late on the schedule and I greatly apologize for that, but here it is! 15 more trainers that you can date, and that are probably way less intimidating for newer players who are just starting out and need less rules to mess with! You can always come back to this list thanks to a link on the first post, too~

Relic Badge complete! "You must have a Water type (that you have already caught) in your team during the entire date." So my date with Annika more or less completely flopped, if it wasn't for the Magikarp I had in storage! Even then I'll be earning a measly total of 1 point... Which is fine! It's fine. I can live with that. :)) The segment was nothing too exciting - I battled through the Team Galactic building (fainting to crits from Jupiter's Skuntank, oops) so I could finally receive the long-awaited bicycle! How I love the nostalgia of the cycling theme. <3 I also received a certain Pokémon egg from the delightful Cynthia, of course! 🥰 This little one hatched not long into my journey. This challenge I've encountered so many Pokémon I'm just dying to put on my team, but then it wouldn't be a challenge if I didn't follow the rules! ;-; After that, onward to Hearthome, one of my favourite places in the game!! Now, it's very unlike me to skip contests in Hearthome, but I was just too eager to get this segment finished to worry about that for now. (Next segment, expect lots of cute screenshots!) All those trainers along the way really helped with grinding EXP for Spira and Daks, so I was ready to face Fantina - and OHKO'd her whole team with Bite! So that was... uneventful! :') I got her back for all the trouble she gave me in Pearl https://i.ibb.co/PCQ3FNv/relic-badge.png I am very happy to say bon voyage to Annika and take Luke out on my next date! https://www.pokencyclopedia.info/sprites/menu-icons/ico-a_old/ico-a_old_130.gif Spira ♀ Lv. 28 WATERFLYING https://www.pokencyclopedia.info/sprites/menu-icons/ico-a_old/ico-a_old_055.gif Daks ♀ Lv. 33 WATER |

Sweet Hearts in Pokémon XDATING PIERSI was having a lot of fun with this team. Especially Scrafty was surprisingly good against Team Flare. I didn't realize the fact that my team is perfect against Olympia until I reach her Gym. You can imagine she didn't really do anything to me. Her Sigilyph set up Light Screen, which was useless, since my Pokémon all know physical attacks. Her Slowking was able to tank a few hits from Stunky and even put Scrafty to sleep before that, but ultimately it felt. Her Meowstic even barely moved before being taken down by Stunky. So, my next date is... Robin from the new set of trainers. Looking forward it. Well then. I give up! 😂 I'm failing this challenge so bad... Guess I'll have to ignore that new rule and just go with Luke's favourite Pokémon instead, since... none of them can learn any of my HMs. 😭 Better take my mind off it by indulging in Hearthome competitions! :why: EDIT: Wait, silly me, I forgot all about Rock Smash with Golduck! So technically possible but I may have to grind a bit to make it a success! :') |

Sweet Hearts Event Part 6!! Game: Pokémon Emerald Current date: Korrina Rules: Doesn't matter bc I'm getting Pokémon points only instead lmaoooo I got Surf pretty much after I beat Norman and then left to Fortree Gym with Hariyama and Linoone. Not much to say really because the grinding didn't even exist because of the Team Aqua event at the weather institute and the rest of the trainers from said route. Haven't done Wattson's sidequest and might get to it in the next segment, tho. Winona kinda forced me to use the Rock Tomb TM on Hariyama because it would've been impossible without it. With a combination of Fake Out, Rock Tomb on her and Strength + Surf on Linoone, she ended up being pretty easy despite being in a huge disadvantage. Current team: Will date some of the new ones ig. Maybe Bailey. |

Another new date, another new team. I could get Mr. Mime, Jynx and Chatot straight away and Sudowoodo a little bit later. I was excited to use those, since it has been a while since the last time I had a chance to use them. It didn't end well. Jynx was useless. She has a moveset full of physical moves and I couldn't get any good TM for her. Sudowoodo was better, but I got it right before facing Wulfric, so I couldn't use it that much. Chatot was useful with its Chatter, which also helped me with finishing this date's rule. But Mr. Mime was the true MVP. I basically solo'd this whole segment with just him. Psychic/Fairy typing just completely stops Team Flare from doing anything. And if anything could kill it, I still had Jynx as a tank to heal Mr. Mime back to full health.
Battle with Wulfric went... somehow. I beat his Abomasnow with Mr. Mime, after it knocked down Sudowoodo. But then, Wulfric sent out Cryogonal and I decided to give Jynx a try to redeem herself. And it went just as you would expect. She hit herself each time in confusion and I only wasted healing items on her until giving up and letting her die. But Jynx spirit lived on and made my team hit themselves in confusion each time. So I had to use even more healing and wasted so much time on Cryogonal. When I finally took it down, I just let Mr. Mime beat Avalugg with few Psychic attacks. I rolled another date and got Skyla! Finally! You probably know that, but Skyla is my favourite character and I was making jokes about dating only her when we were preparing this event. I even chose my trainer class to be a Pilot and made a small headcannon that my character works with Skyla in Mistralton. Now there is nothing standing in their love! And I also got a moody date with following rule: "Kill the Pokémon in the slot number 2." Which doesn't really matter, since I'll be switching my team anyway. Teamhttp://play.pokemonshowdown.com/sprites/xyani/mrmime.gifFreyr, Hardy Male Mr. Mime lvl 61, Soundproof - Psychic - Dazzling Gleam - Light Screen - Reflect http://play.pokemonshowdown.com/sprites/xyani/chatot.gif Jarilo, Lonely Male Chatot lvl 55, Keen Eye - Taunt - Sing - Uproar - Chatter http://play.pokemonshowdown.com/sprites/xyani/jynx.gif Lofn, Bold Female Jynx lvl 54, Forewarn - Calm Mind - Fake Tears - Wake-Up Slap - Avalanche http://play.pokemonshowdown.com/sprites/xyani/sudowoodo.gif Frigg, Naughty Female Sudowoodo lvl 54, Rock Head - Mimic - Hammer Arm - Sucker Punch - Stone Edge |
Sweet Hearts Event Part 7!! Game: Pokémon Emerald Current date: Bailey Rules: 1: You may only use Pokémon with no gender, or with a 50/50 male to female ratio. After beating Winona I went to change my team again. I picked up the Castform from the Weather Institute and then caught a Spinda in the Route before Fallabour Town and went to train them. And it sucked, but I got them past level 30, eventually. :femme2: Then I headed to Mt. Pyre and was told the Blue and Red orbs were stolen by Team Aqua and Magma. I get the Magma Emblem and head to their hideout in Mt. Chimney, but before that I beat Brendan in Lilycove and buy a Thunder TM for Castform. Best decision of my life, because as soon as she learned Weather Ball, she slayed. It's a bit insulting to have a hard time beating someone that really thought Groundon would be attracted to the Blue Orb. Had to reset the battle a few times because I was using Linoone as a HM Slave because of Strength and I want to get points for full team, so I couldn't use it. After like 3 tries I beat him using solely Spinda and Castform. Then I head to Slateport at the exact moment Captain Stern's submarine is stolen by Team Aqua and then I take them on in Aqua's Hideout, where I get the Master Ball and battle another one of their admins (forgot his name). This battle was way easier, Thunder and Weather Ball were really usefull and Hypnosis + Teeter Dance also was a nice combo. Before heading to the gym I got the Super Rod in Mossdeep City and went to catch a Horsea east of Slateport to use as my new surfer and finally box Linoone. I also decided to wait a few hours so I could catch a Snorunt from Shoal Cave so I got four of Bailey's Pokémon. After training my two new Pokémon, I was ready to battle Tate & Liza. Half the battle they were using Hyper Potions on their Xatu, until it fainted at least. Claydol was a bit of a problem, but the rest of their Pokémon fell pretty easily thanks to Glalie's Crunch and Castform's Weather Ball. Current team: Will keep dating Bailey. |
Spoiler:
Hi Cube :femme2: So, you get no strange effects this time, but you do get a grand total of 13 points! Congrats for using Castform so gracefully. I've updated Bailey's rules for you, as well! |
Sweet Hearts Event Part 8!! Game: Pokémon Emerald Current date: Bailey Rules: 1: You may only use Pokémon with no gender, or with a 50/50 male to female ratio. 2: You may not use two Pokémon with the same height in your team. After beating the twins I immediately headed to the Space Center to confront Team Magma once again and prevent them to steal the rocket fuel or whatever. Pretty much everyone was soloed by Glalie and the battle with Steven was just spamming Surf with Seadra. Then I got Dive from Steven and used it to find the stolen submarine and then go against- wait shit I need my HM slave again. I also taught Psychic to Spinda while I was at it. I used Dive to find the stolen submarine and take on Team Aqua in whatever Kyogre's cave name is and if I didn't screenshot any of these boss battles, it's because they were completely easy lmfao. Archie awakens Kyogre and just as Groundon did, they flee, putting a start to the weather crisis which is also the highlight of the whole game. I end up reaching Sootopolis where both Groudon and Kyogre are fighting for who fucks up Hoenn the most, but I win by bringing a green snake to tell em to shut up. After that, the two leaders go to return the orbs and Wallace gives me the last HM: Waterfall, but before I can beat him, I gotta beat his mentor and current gym leader, Juan. Juan's battle started alright, but went to shit pretty quick because of some bad RNG that messed up my game. The idea was to sweep with Castform, but ended up beating him with Glalie. Current team: Will keep dating Bailey. |

No effects for you this time either~ That looks like 15 points, too :) Updated Bailey~ |
Update 8 – Dragon Gym
That guy Gary is a weirdo, last time he told me he loves Corviknights but now he reveals he also hates steel types. It's probably best if I stay away from him. Inability to use Corviknight meant I had to prepare a little bit more this time, and so I EV trained my Pokemon in Speed and Defense through Pokejobs (it's very slow, but I'm too lazy to do it normally :P) With that the gym battle went rather well. Extra defense boost from Reflect meant I could keep attacking without healing too often. In the end the Dragon Badge was mine :) Team: Spoiler:
My last date is... Skyla! |
Spoiler:
So let's see... no side effect, 6 Pokémon points, and 3 rules completed - which is also 1+2+3=6 points! Nice date~ Updated Skyla! |
Sweet Hearts Event Part 9!! Game: Pokémon Emerald Current date: Bailey Rules: 1: You may only use Pokémon with no gender, or with a 50/50 male to female ratio. 2: You may not use two Pokémon with the same height in your team. 3: Your Pokémon’s moves must all be of different types. Oh, boy. After beating Juan in Sootopolis Gym I went to look for a Bagon in Meteor Falls. Not to catch it, but because I needed to steal the Dragon Scale from it so I could trade Seadra with myself and get Kingdra. It's true that I could've done that with Horsea when I caught it, but I didn't know that by then and fishing in Hoenn games is the most horrible thing. I bet the fishing mechanic was created by the same person that made Greedent. This whole thing took me like an hour. I also went to get a few TMs, more specifically the Ice Beam one for Kingdra and also taught a few TMs to the rest of the team because of Bailey's third rule. Used Calm Mind and Water Pulse on Spinda, Earthquake on Glalie, Ice Beam and Double Team on Kingdra and none in Castform because she wasn't breaking the rule. I also gave nicknames to the rest of the team and made my old Lombre my Waterfall (and Flash) HM slave since Kingdra couldn't have it. Also used a Heart Scale to have Spinda relearn Faint Attack. Victory Road gave me absolutely no problem, despite having only four usable Pokémon. Wally was taken down by Glalie alone, except for his Gardevoir who was beaten by Spinda iirc. The E4 was another thing. Sidney was easy, and Phoebe did give me a bit of trouble the first time, but ultimately I realized I could beat her with Spinda alone. When I got to battle my wife- I mean Glacia, everything went to shit. Took me too many tries, my team was not only underleveled, RNG was also not on my side. So before challenging Glacia again I had to do some grinding yay. And then I lost again :femme2: So I had to do more grinding. And then with my team around lvl 54 I got to beat her. Drake was by far the easiest E4 here lmao. Kingdra sweeped with Ice Beam and Twister. Now Wallace is by far the easiest champion in the franchise, unless you have absolutely nothing to counter the Water type. If I was playing Ruby or Sapphire, the champion battle would've been way easier. Not to mention I also ran out of PP in most of my Pokémon's moves because of Glacia's battle. And Wallace's Gyarados omg after two or so Dragon Dances, I was dead. Had to grind again. After my last grinding Wallace was still a bit hard to beat, but he was more manageable. Castform took down Wailord with 3 lucky Thunders. Glalie came next to one shot his Tentacruel with Earthquake, and then Spinda tanked Ludicolo with Calm Mind and then Faint Attack, it was by far the most glorious part of the battle. Fuck Ludicolo. Dottie also forced a few Full Restores on Wallace by using Water Pulse against Whiscash. Kingdra would've taken care of Gyarados if he didn't ran out of PP in every move but Double Team, it ended up being taken down by Glalie but by luck. Gyarados was about to sweep me but for whatever reason it decided to use Dragon Dance when it was at 1% HP. His Milotic gave me a lot of trouble during other tries, so I ended up using the Facade TM on Glalie to counter its Toxic and OHKOing it with a lucky crit. I was seriously considering forfeiting to having full team points and catch a Heracross and some grass type, but it wasn't really necessary. Ended up a bit overleveled, though :femme2: Final team: Pokémon's final movesets for rule 3. Spoiler:

Okay, something really funny happened. I finished my run yesterday morning, before Kostucha's update. But since I can see all the rules, I thought Skyla's third rule was active when I was playing. Not sure why I thought that. So I flew to Laverre City and bought stuff for $30 000 before continuing on.
I flew around Kalos some more and picked up all Skyla's Pokémon, except Skarmory, since it can only be caught on Victory Road. It took me a while to level them up, but I thought I had pretty solid team. But then I got challenged by a random trainers on Victory Road and I swear every single one of them have Pokémon with either Electric, Ice or Rock-type move. Any progress was slow. But I somehow made it to E4 and caught Skarmory on my way there. My only plan was to use super-effective Pokémon, where I can. I used Swanna against Malva. Or at least I tried. Malva' Pyroar knows Wild Charge and was faster that Swanna, so I had to quickly come up with another strategy. It was struggle to beat regular E4 for once. As I said, Malva quickly took down Swanna, Siebold quickly beat Jumpluff and Wikstrom and Drasna always had a counter to my plays. I was looking forward Diantha battle. I beat her Hawlucha with Swanna and then switched to Swoobat for her Aurorus. I realized I slapped Calm Mind on it and never used it during E4. So I set up 6 Calm Minds and nothing could hurt anymore Swoobat. I swept Diantha's team with either boosted Psychic or Air Slash. I almost forgot Mega Evolutions weere a think in this game if it wasn't for her Mega Gardevoir. Here's Hall of Fame: Spoiler:
Overall I think this was cool challenge. Not just because I was the one who helped to set it up, but the idea of you having a full control on a difficulty was neat. Thanks Loomie for creating it! Cobble Badge complete! 1: You may only use Water types. 2: You may only use HM moves in battle. Quick update since I've not been feeling too well lately but still want to get this done on time! I didn't spend as much time at the contest hall as I'd hoped, but I did manage to win my first Beauty contest, at least! https://i.ibb.co/Bj0Mtvh/daks.png At Veilstone I spent almost all my time gambling at the Game Corner because I kept getting shiny Clefairies and before I knew it, earned 6000 coins... which doesn't really buy anything useful to me, so I decided to leave it at that until I felt the itch to gamble again. Maylene's gym is such a bother! Was it always like this? I swear it takes 10 seconds for each boxing bag to animate and swing... Well, to get her back for putting me through that torturous maze, I knocked her team out flat, Water Pulse after Water Pulse from my formidable Daks. Thanks, Daks! https://i.ibb.co/D5CDHfx/cobble-badge.png Now, I did not follow the HM only rule from Luke this time. I did however catch each of his available favourite Pokémon, being Seaking and Golduck, and will have Octillery for this next segment. Which means I will keep on dating Luke! https://www.pokencyclopedia.info/sprites/menu-icons/ico-a_old/ico-a_old_119.gif Bubbles ♂ Lv. 33 WATER https://www.pokencyclopedia.info/sprites/menu-icons/ico-a_old/ico-a_old_055.gif Daks ♀ Lv. 40 WATER |
Spoiler:
No rules and two Pokémon will net you 6 points! Yay! And, little surprise for you, Luke is willing to share some intel about another trainer... A new rule and all the accompanying info has been given to Teresa, the last trainer in Contact List 3! As for Luke's rules, they're updated now~ |
I don't think I can finish the challenge by 15th :why:
I'm barely having internet here and I return on 13th so, yeah. Kinda impossible ;-; I will try completing it once I have regular internet again. But just in case I can't, I wanted to leave the reason here. |
Hi there! It's been a while since my last update, but I've finally put in the work and finished Pokémon Sword!
How did it go? Well... I realized very soon that Froslass alone would not really get me anywhere. So I had to pair her up with some other Pokémon that I had laying around, including Lucario, Gloom and... my Raboot! I really wanted to give my starter another chance to shine after dropping him off right after badge #1, so here he is! I was incredibly indecisive on who else to add to the team, so I just decided to power through all the way to Wyndon and figure things out there... except I soon learned that once you get there, you're immediately supposed to go to the Stadium! I took a pause from the game for a bit (in fact all I did was buy new clothes) and think of how to get new Pokémon. I really didn't want to grind too much, but getting high-level Pokémon from the Wild Area and such required me to do so anyways - apparently it's very hard to catch Pokémon that are a higher level than yours, so... yeah. And so, with the help of Lucario and later, Cinderace, I decimated all the Pokémon in Route 10 (plus some wanderers in the Wild Area). The Wild Area weather wasn't really on my side and it was hard to get all the Pokémon I wanted. The Raids were starting to get very difficult as well and the time was ticking, so I just kept grinding until I could get my hands on two more team members: a level 60 Haxorus I found in the Eye of Axew (Wild Area), and a Hattrem I found near Balloonlea. I also evolved my Gloom into Vileplume at about this time. With everyone trained up and at a very high level (I had to get my Lucario to level 60 to catch the level 60 Haxorus without too much trouble!) I easily won against most of the trainers in the first Tournament. The Gym leaders were a bit harder, but that was nothing that a few Power Herbs wouldn't solve - and yes, I still had that rule about not using actual potions in battle. All my Pokémon hate me now, but I became suddenly the richest person in Galar by selling all those Revives and Hyper Potions. Finally, Macro Cosmos would've been quite difficult if it wasn't for my friend Cinderace - in fact, I'm so glad I added him back to the team! Hatterene dealt with Oleana's Garbodor instead. Rose was easy thanks to Cinderace (again) whereas Eternatus was mostly just watching Zacian do most of the work while Froslass hindered it with Icy Wind. Once that was caught, I finally went ahead and battled Leon, and that was finally a hard battle. He left me with just two Pokémon after a very intense fight, and the levels were surely in his favor this time. But Haxorus, the last Pokémon in my team that could do something against his Charizard, eventually bested him with two Max Rockfall. And so, I became champion for the first time in Pokémon Sword! ![]() So, the team: Cinderace, lv. 62, Blaze Court Change, U-Turn, Flame Charge, Pyro Ball Scorbunny is already one of my favorite starters, and is also based on my own Chinese Zodiac sign. So how could I not bring back this guy at the end of the game? I made this decision purely out of love for this Pokémon - I wanted to give him more screentime since he was my starter - but this turned out to be a great choice, especially against Macro Cosmos / Rose. Fire type moves and amazing Attack and Speed made many battles a breeze, and even if his moveset was not that amazing, all I needed to do was click on Pyro Ball to see things hide in fear! I'm definitely very happy with this Pokémon. Lucario, lv. 66, Inner Focus Aura Sphere, Dragon Pulse, Meteor Mash, Extreme Speed This Pokémon is OP. I got lucky enough to find the right weather in the Wild Area for Riolu to spawn, and used her during my date with Hugh, but I knew I had to bring her back for this final segment. (By the way, I caught her in a Luxury Ball to make her super happy). She has amazing coverage, is just fast enough to go first most of the time, and has very strong mixed Attacking stats. Another Pokémon I'm very happy with, though it's probably not that big of a surprise to know she did well. Froslass, lv. 58, Snow Cloak Ice Beam, Icy Wind, Will-o-Wisp, Hex Didn't use her too much but she was the only Pokémon that I could use from Karin's team. Still, she didn't do too bad and was even able to take some hits when needed! I also can't blame her too much because of her level being lower than Lucario's, for example. Haxorus, lv. 64, Rivalry Dragon Dance, Dragon Claw, Rock Slide, Giga Impact Already caught at level 60, she was a force to be reckoned with from the start. Just click on things and it's done... especially after one or two Dragon Dances! She took hits quite well too... well, usually (I totally misjudged her defensive abilities against Eternatus for example), but was the one Pokémon that defeated Leon's Charizard - that alone is a great accomplishment. Haxorus is a Pokémon I never used, since it's really not that easy to even find, but I'm very happy I gave her a try this time! She did very well. Vileplume, lv. 60, Chlorophyll Giga Drain, Toxic, Venoshock, Moonblast Didn't use her too much, but she was surely helpful against trainers like Nessa or Bea. She's not really that strong but she did what she had to do so no complaints here! I already had a high level Gloom from a previous date and picked her up again because her Giga Drain would have allowed me to save a bit on healing items, and that was precisely the case! Hatterene, lv. 55, Forewarn Calm Mind, Psychic, Shadow Ball, Dazzling Gleam Due to her low level, her usefulness started to decrease by the end, but she still did a marvelous job during the beginning of this date! She hit very hard, this time from the Special side of things, and much like Haxorus, could even boost herself up. Being a new Pokémon and all, I really wanted to try her out and once again, I'm happy with how she did! So that gives me one point for that Froslass and one point for the rule! 2 total! That leaves me with a not-so-nice total if compared with the points that some other people got, but I'm still happy with how the challenge went. I think I did pretty well considering the trainers I found (yep, random mode hehe) and the rules they gave me - especially later on I tried to use all the Pokémon they wanted and really make them happy, and that made for a very interesting and varied adventure! Considering what my own objectives were when creating this challenge, though, I'm still a bit torn! On one hand, I'm very happy that you all seem to enjoy the challenge, and that it has given you some interesting situations to work with. Both myself and other people have used Pokémon that they had never tried out and worked on new strategies to continue - and yes, I'm overall quite happy with this mix of individual decisions and random effects. On the other, the execution was, as it is with most challenges that are at their first iteration, a bit lacking! The trainers were probably a bit too many given the number of players - even if I never even introduced them all... and yes, me being so late with adding trainers was also something that should not have happened (although this means they could be easily recycled for future challenges... stay tuned, hehe). The challenge wasn't really that balanced across different games, and - I have to admit this - was probably harder to update than I expected! In short, this is another example of Eleanor taking steps longer than the leg, but making it kinda work ;) That said... the challenge still isn't over! You still have about one full day to post your last updates and get as far as you can! You got this, Challengers~ https://cdn.discordapp.com/emojis/784208793776291871.gif?v=1 |
Final Update
Oh today is the final day? Haha oops. Skyla was a fun final date, great pokemon and free rules. For the third one I got a Motorcycle Jacket for 111k which should be enough :P Spoiler:
Endgame was really fun, Noivern was easily the MVP, although Drifblim also helped in many battles. Swoobat was lagging behind a bit, but it had its uses. Hall of Fame: Spoiler:
Team: Spoiler:
It's kinda sad that this subforum isn't even close to being active enough for this challenge to grow to its full potential. Also I'm not convinced that the points system was really necessary. However overall I really enjoyed this challenge. I got to use many new pokemon even if it was only for 1 gym in most cases. Seeing all those new rules was really nice, I can see that a lot of work is going into those Events. Thanks for organising them! :) |
Whoops, dashing in with a quick update to net a few more points!!! I wasn't able to follow Luke's rules this time, it wasn't really possible, but I did catch an Octillery and so I used 3 of his favourites for this segment! :D
https://i.ibb.co/KbQt026/fen-badge.png https://i.ibb.co/ZzHZgNq/Pokemon-Platinum-Version-USA-Rev-1-32018.png Thanks so much for hosting the challenge Loomie and Janp, I did have a lot of fun with it and only wish I had more time to finish the game! I'll try to do better next time - and maybe not naming my rival Jamp will help. :') <3 |
Thanks everyone for participating! I'm glad you had a fun playing, even though you didn't finish it (See Clover, this is what happens when you let Jamp in your game). For me personally, this was the first challenge that let me really dive into the huge roster of Pokémon that XY has to offer. This was easily the most Pokémon I've ever used in one run.
And thanks Loomie for coming up with the idea and bothering me enough to help him prepare everything. So, what's next? |
What's next uh?
First off, thanking Janp again for helping out so much with organizing and updating! Second, thanking the two brave souls who submitted some trainers to add to the Contact List, too: Sheep and Lordecoxinha! And third, thanking all of you for playing along and enduring this challenge, hehe! I'm very glad that you all enjoyed it and gave more Pokémon a try! (Especially Cubism with Spinda and Castform) Of course, the biggest simp award winner prize goes to Kostucha with 92 points, followed by Janp with 82! And then of course, for the non-random category, we have Cubism with a grand total of 68 points! I personally wanted these points to act as a gauge of how much everyone was willing to follow the rules given (because, you know, it was not mandatory this time!) but there's still a huge amount of randomness involved so... yeah, it's fine 😇 If we're talking about future challenges, well... all I can say at this point is that you might want to keep some of these savefiles ready to be used again, especially those where you completed the game! There may be a way to get some more hours of play from them... This thread, from now on, is open for any sort of feedback or comments on the challenge! No more updates though, as Janp said~ |
