Old practices that you find interesting.

Or just plain frightening.

Our lovely society hasn't always been like this, science had been thought of as blasphemy or the work of the devil, for instance.

It's therefore no surprise that that old methods of healthcare or even just daily living are pretty scary, and we can't imagine ourselves getting by then. What are some past things that intrigue you?

For me, I recently found out that people used corpse medicine. ie, they used parts of a dead person as a medical cure, some thought it a cure all. If you have the stomach, here's an article.

Taking photos with dead bodies was a popular thing.

The girl slumping in the photo is obviously dead. If it makes you feel better, most of the photos that circulate online are not legit. So this one is most likely not legit either.

Probably not, as her eyes are open. It was believed that if you took a picture of a dead person with their eyes open, their soul would get trapped. However, taking pictures of the dead was indeed a thing.

I'm not entirely sure, and I don't know enough about the subject to give an answer. It's seems to be an obscure topic. I've tried researching post mortem photography and the answers are not abundant. I assumed the eyes stayed open because they were trying to replicate one final real photo before burial. I guess it would depend on the era and location of the photograph.

My family does open casket funerals. These photos definitely get the vacant look exactly correct. It's impressive because I wouldn't imagine that as an easy thing to pull off.

I've seen some disturbing apparatuses for pulling teeth in some show on TV, but I don't remember much about them unfortunately.
