oh hi anna

you're one of the few people that i actually care about whether or not they like my writing, so i hope it's been reading nicely to you so far ♥ (but yeah, the greater fandom is a group too large and heterogeneous to worry about!)

Anna is just like Chris Pratt (as described by the English translator in the Mario Movie cast reveal): so cool.

(From the earlier bot banning conversation)

Winds up high on bot-slaying numbers due to cleaning out old visitor messages. Starts from one year ago and works forward. Gets super laggy if you go any further back. Tries to stay a few days ahead of the tipping point.

:O

That's dedication... I lost that bot-banning drive over time :sadwick:

To be a writer is my dream. I feel like I'm really living the things I write, and feel happier and fulfilled on days where I have written something, reading a great story also excites me, sometimes I literally jump out of my chair when I'm really into what I am reading, and when I am out of time to read, I still find myself daydreaming about getting back to that good book, and seeing what happens next.

The trouble is that I seem to have not enough time in the day to write and read as much as I I want to, something is always carrying me off.

Devalue October 16th, 2022 7:59 AM

Is more of a reader than a writer. Engages little in both nowadays. Generally only reads books when away from home. Passes the time while waiting on medical procedures. Sticks to the old, simple books of youth: Redwall, Harry Potter, and Dragonlance.

You should see some of the weird techniques I've used over time 😇😅

Definitely ate up the Harry Potter books. Fantasy is the genre I have always been most drawn to because I like to escape every day ordinary life I am currently revisiting Middle Earth, and rereading The Lord of the Rings, earlier this year had such a magical time picking up the Hobbit. I have always liked fairytale, myths legends and folklore since I was a kid too.

I need to get back into the Sword of Truth series, it was off to a good start. I have a bad habit of checking more books than I can read at once, and not finishing them. I also want to pick up where I left off with the Forest House, and the Homeric Chronicles.

5qwerty October 16th, 2022 8:30 AM

I wanted to try to write something in 6th grade after I read on the Scholastic magazine thingy that some teenager had a book published (it was Swordbird). I thought I could rake in big cash if I got my own book published. I wrote maybe 5 pages and ended up exhausting all my mental energy. Then I discovered ROM Hacking a year later on PC lmao

VisionofMilotic October 16th, 2022 8:35 AM

Anyone ever write fanfiction?

I kinda want to submit something to the small writing competition again. I did I get an idea as soon as the prompt of past, present and future was given, but I have a tendency to come up with bigger ideas than I can put to paper by due dates, and think I probably won't have time for the project i would like to write, so I have avoided entering since I am not sure.

Fact Checking Gardevoir October 16th, 2022 8:46 AM

Would my short "fact-checking pokédex entries" or little interviews count ?

Also, if you enjoy writing, with or without due dates, I say do it!

5qwerty October 16th, 2022 8:49 AM

As for fanfiction, I feel like I would only try to do it if there was some reward other than self-gratification, since I'm not really a good writer and I don't know how to appreciate the art.

ReKoil October 16th, 2022 8:53 AM

The short stories I wrote back in high school might qualify as fan fiction. They were set in a video-game I played a lot at the time and with characters from it.
Otherwise no.

Devalue October 16th, 2022 9:00 AM

Never wrote fanfiction (in memory, at least). Understands the appeal. Feels weird to write for established characters, though, and perhaps restricting?

VisionofMilotic October 16th, 2022 9:11 AM

I have to one day rescue one of my OCs in a Pokenon fic I wrote. I left the story on a cliffhanger, and she was quite literally laying unconscious on the floor of a burning building when i stopped writing. I want to return to that story, I liked writing it, and there were reviewers on ff who enjoyed it too, and wanted to know more, but I got busy. Now I worry that the story has been dead for too long to try to revive

Aquacorde October 16th, 2022 9:28 AM

I think Pokémon is a great franchise to write fic for, especially in terms of writing canon characters, because like. We see enough of them to get an idea of their personalities but you can kind of do whatever else you want with them? There's just so much freedom in interpretation~

tbh people routinely pick up fics after years and years so if you want to finish it go for it! its more about what you want to do, really~ who cares if it's "late"!

I don't consider myself anywhere near a good writer, but what matters is to have fun! I started on these forums by posting my short entries, to see if a few people at least would like it. And look where I am now! ^^

I once wrote a short story for school (written expression) in which I managed to fit a fire bird called Moltres! ^^

I would say it is never too late!
(Coming from someone who used to wait up to 6 years for a fanfic update somewhere :p)

So what events and activities has everybody been enjoying lately this get-together, or looking forward to?

Devalue October 16th, 2022 10:26 AM

Enjoyed Eevee's Arcade and VG Trivia (despite probably knowing fewer answers this year). Also liked seeing Mind Read the Room results. Got some close ones in the Multiple Choice round.

VisionofMilotic October 16th, 2022 10:31 AM

I really like the Fakemon Design Content, and looking forward to the next prompt. The Custom TCG card creation looks cool too.

Aquacorde October 16th, 2022 10:43 AM

spot the difference is killing me but i do love puzzles lmaoo

VisionofMilotic October 16th, 2022 11:08 AM

I have some tech issues right now. My computer is not working, I type on my phone a lot, but the provider I have throttles the speed, so web pages are really slow to open and images especially take a long time to view, and often appear broken for me, so because of loading issues I had to bow out of spot the difference. The puzzles are already super hard, and the problems I was having with graphics on top of it were too much for me to over come.

Cuz my connection is so weak I also have decided to avoid online games and activities where we have to chat live, I could drop out at any second. But I can't complain, there's still a ton of fun things to do.

Devalue October 16th, 2022 11:11 AM

Unfortunate on the tech issues. Hopefully solves that soon. Is glad to hear you still managed to participate in some areas.

Best wishes for your tech issues to get fixed quickly!
But happy that you can still have fun!

Pretty much only the forum games, although I might join a Pictionary session later if I'm feeling well.

I'm also waiting for a new prompt in the Fakemon design contest to see if I can get in.
