Which region had the best Pokémon?
In your opinion, which region had the best new Pokémon?
GSC, period.
Sinnoh, without a doubt. Hoenn and Unova are the runner-ups, though! All 3 regions introduced beautifully designed Pokémon!
Sinnoh. Well balanced starter trio, solid designs overall, fair amount of cool new species and evolutions for previously existing Pokémon. Many of my favorites come from this region.
The region as a whole? Kinda hard to say without having to pull every mon I like from each region into lists. I mean, each region has at least several mons I like.
I'd go with either Hoenn or Kalos if I have to guess. |
Unpopular option, I love all of unova pokemon I think they're all great in design and fit the theme
A tie between Unova and Hoenn for me. Unova's new 151 was fresh and breathed new life to the franchise, while Hoenn had such amazing starters.
I'm a big fan of GSC's Pokemon, even if some of that opinion is based on nostalgia, GSC introduced many of my favorites like Tyranitar, Skarmory, Houndoom, and the legendary beasts to name a few.
any gen that's between 3 and 5
mostly gens 4 and 5, they both introduced some pretty damn good 'mons imo gen 3 takes third place |

I would say Unova and Hoenn, but I got quite attached to Alola and Galar too. |
I would say a pretty even match between kanto and hoenn
I must say gen7! one of my favorite Pokémon originate from it, including null, rockruff, jangmo-o and wimpod lines + naganadel. I'd say gen8 fares very well too.
If you had to ask me which generation had Pokemon that thematically had the best fit their region? I'd have to say Galar. A lot of the new Pokemon in Galar just... make so much sense in the region they live in.
As well as a lot of the Alola Pokemon I felt made sense/felt the most natural in the region they lived in. Alola forms included. ...But if we're talking bias, then Hoenn, for sure. |
i think my favorite gen in terms of design would be... gen 1. i kind of like that a lot of kanto pokemon are like "here is a fantasy creature" or "what if this thing was a monster?".
i feel like these were designed before there was a real consensus of how much "monster" went into "pocket monster", so they look a lot like RPG enemies (big dragon-like creature, slime, small cute thing, just a normal animal, etc.), which i think is really cool. ... otherwise i really like the gen 5 and 6 designs. they're a big departure from the previous gens but they're very modern and stylized without looking too cartoonish. then again i'm just thinking about blitzle.. and noivern... and also my judgement is 100% clouded by nostalgia so please disregard my opinons. i also like the alolan pokemon too but idk where it would go on my mental tier list |
