I'm not sure about the chronology of this year. The only things I remember is I'm no longer in Europe, my brother got married and I had snow on April 30th and a heat wave three weeks later 🤔

Graduating High School/Starting college are definitely the defining moments of the year for me

I remember working; except when I didn't during vacation and on the weekends.

ReKoil December 5th, 2022 5:21 AM

I had a whopping 1 week of vacation as I derped up and forgot to check if my vacation weeks had even been approved in the first place, and the other two weeks hadn't.
And I ended up using most of that week making my game/event for the GT xD

They did randomly give me some days off here and there, but those were unpredictable so I couldn't really do anything on them lol

All things considered, it was a decent year. Not the best but definitely not the worst. That hurricane was a first for me, a rather horrific experience, but I admit I’m just glad our house was one of the lucky ones that got little to no damage.

The single most important thing about winter driving is that if you need to brake, do it gently and in a straight line before turning.

The last couple of weeks have mostly been wrapping up the year at work. Nothing major happening. I still have like one vacation day on Friday and four more days that I didn't take that I'll hold up until the next year. Also: Christmas Vacation also starts in two weeks.

I'm not good at planning vacation days. xD

ZeoStar December 13th, 2022 2:24 AM

240849. ^ Hope you enjoy the time off.

Speaking of wrapping, I'll probably end wrapping gifts at last minute. Never liked doing it and always put it off.

I actually really love gift wrapping. I make sure to be meticulous and precise and end up kinda overdoing it, only to see them ripped apart the next day haha.

But hey, I got a weird high off of it. Just knowing I can gift wrap decently makes me extremely happy when once upon a time I used to be bad at it.

240 852.

I am so close to sharing this sentiment. I love the part of watching others open the gifts I wrapped.

My issue is being left handed. I've adapted enough over the years to cut decently, but when it comes to wrapping presents and needing to be prescise it remains a problem.

StCooler December 13th, 2022 7:26 PM

240 853

You remind me that a few years ago, I had scissors for left-handed people, while I'm right-handed lol. I didn't pay attention to what I took when I was at the store lol.
I'm probably going to spend Christmas alone though. I don't have family in Canada, and a flight Canada-Europe costs like 1200€, I cannot XD

Megan December 13th, 2022 9:26 PM

240 854

One of my favorite things when opening presents is to do it very very slowly. I usually look for the tape and remove it and then just unfold the package paper causing as little damage as possible.

My mother always gets furious whenever I do it. She thinks I'm doing it just to annoy everyone. But that's only partly correct. We usually don't get many gifts so I like to prolong things a little bit by taking my time.

I'll probably just visit my other's house again. And there will most likely be one Christmas day where we have to visit my conspiracy theorist/anti immigrant/transphobe grandpa who also happens to celebrate his birthday around the time (it's on 27th of December). <_<

Likewise. Hopefully you’re blessed with a good holiday as well (:

Hadn’t realized we’re halfway through the month. To think that years ago the days used to trudge on by and now the days seem to now fly right past me. I had been told the speed in which time goes only gets faster as I age, and it seems to be partially true.

ReKoil December 14th, 2022 8:57 AM

240 857

I tend to like gift-wrapping when I start.
With Christmas by the time I'm at the last present needing to be wrapped I'm just like 'get this over with already' xD

Feeling well enough atm, though definitely not better yet. December is normally my busiest month, work wise; so I'm not really liking having to sit at home all day while my colleagues have to pick up my routes in addition to their own in such a busy period. The timing for this couldn't be much worse.

Our brains like to cut out repetition from memory. So, when the days feel like they get shorter and shorter it's because we just don't remember the boring stuff. If you want to feel like time goes by slower then you'd need to constantly come up with new ideas and stuff. (Yes, people have done research on these things. xD)

I've heard another hypothesis: days feel shorter because our brain compares the length of the day with the length of our lives. As we keep living, the length of our lives get longer and the length of day / length of life ratio decreases ^^

I don't watch TV not because I have a bad opinion of it (even if I do), but because when I have free time, I prefer to watch Youtube or play videogames!

I prefer Youtube, too. And when I get to my mother's house most stuff she watches is like True Crime, which isn't exactly something I want to bother myself with. <_<

The last TV show I watched was Sons of Anarchy, and it was before the pandemic... lol
