Lmaoo I don't think I've ever actually bought Windows yet... The only legit copy I've ever had was the one that came preinstalled with my laptop, and even then I borked that with so many weird anti-update settings I forgot how to turn off, and decided to just do a fresh reinstall. The new one unfortunately doesn't come with that really nifty Asus battery health software thingy, but hey it's fine bcs it's not like I ever use this laptop without perma charging it anyway, so nothing of value was lost :3

I've never bought Windows separately.
It's just always there when I buy a new computer anyway =p

It's better how Bethesda handles Skyrim: no update whatsoever :D
Fortunately we have modders who debug the game.

In university we got free upgrades to newer versions of Windows. So my back then laptop with Vista on it was able to upgrade to an actually uable Windows OS. I also remember the upgrade from Win 7 to 10 was free so I tried that on my newer laptop. It worked but 10 was really wonky back then. That was basically the point in time when I fully switched to Linux.

I disabled auto updates just to stop Windows from auto updating itself.
I now have to be picky about what updates to install >.>

Did I mention what happened when I upgraded from Windows 10 to 11? :D
Spoiler:

Actually the problem was that the reader head of my HDD was faulty.

I would be afraid in terms of computer security though ^^
However, I hate it when Windows Update takes a certain amount of my CPU / HDD work while I'm busy (e.g. gaming)

Starlight April 14th, 2022 7:16 PM

I used to be more resistant to updates too tbh but that was when I was heavily modding parts of the system. Now that I just use my pc casually then yeah I'd be really worried about updates too.

I do updates once every week. That's usually enough. Though, Linux does make updating things very easy. M$ is still lagging behind quite a bit.

I'm more on the camp of, if there's nothing wrong with the current version (for me ofc) then I'd rather not bother with updating anything. Don't-fix-what-ain't-broken mindset

StCooler April 15th, 2022 3:36 AM

But what if you don't realise that it's broken? D:
I heard a few weeks ago that Dark Souls's online was disabled because there was a huge security issue... However I heard about it only when I tried to launch the game :(

Aww, sorry to hear that Cooler... :(

I'm honestly down to never realize if something's broken so long as it doesn't bite me in the butt down the line lol

Starlight April 15th, 2022 6:18 AM

But that's exactly what security holes lead to roni!

Does breaking the count grant me access to the conversation then?

Anyone doing anything this weekend ? =3

Does "nothing" count? XD
Same plans as usual: work on my fangame, play LoL, watch Youtube, call friends, order and eat a large pizza + nuggets with a can of coconut water. Same old.

Getting ready for a long trip hopefully! I have an awful lot to do and not enough hours in the day!

I think I'm more of the "if it isn't broken then break it and build something better" mindset. It can get very annoying at work where we have to abide by the system of "how to do things" that they build over the years. So excruciating how much of our "guidelines" feel like they got stuck in the 90s...

Not really. Watching videos, drawing stuff, maybe play some game; stuff like that.

That's my mindset when I'm debugging, but not my general mindset at all!

My mindset has pretty much just always been to roll with the punches life hits you with and make the most of it 😅

Thank goodness my stomach aches have finally started to subside. They were so bad earlier this morning bcs I don't think I drank enough water the night before when drinking with friends (it was my partner's bday and she invited me to party with her high school friends as a sort of reunion for all of them, with me being the +1 heh). The last thing I remember was puking all over my clothes and waking up with such an awful feeling in my stomach lol. I ain't built for this kind of lifestyle

Megan April 16th, 2022 11:41 PM

241147

I'm not up for such a lifestyle, either. Not that I live particularly healthy. It's mostly just the food, though. For all the bad stuff I put into my body: when it comes to drinking it's really just a lot of water and sometimes some tea.

Correcting the number I guess... it got jumped by 1.000 xD

Party's have never appealed to me.
I'd rather spend time one on one with someone than go to some party, I guess. Or perhaps a small group.
Loud noises tend to give me headaches pretty fast too.

As for drinking, alcohol is something that I'll never touch.

StCooler April 17th, 2022 6:39 AM

240 149

Parties have never appealed to me either, but actually I can handle them and not end up isolated or ignored by everyone. However, they exhaust me so much XD
I don't drink alcohol, but during parties, I tend to eat too much peanuts, crisps, and other salted stuff :S

Roni April 17th, 2022 6:49 AM

240 150

I can only handle one party a month. I need at least a week or two of isolation/recharging time after each one lol
