I think I'd like to get back into Netbattle...
I want to use Pokemon I like, but I need some help in creating movesets that not many people would expect. I also need major help in EV spread.
Exploud, Brave nature -Roar? -Shadowball -Earthquake -Blizzard ---Long ago, Frostweaver suggested Blizzard. While I hate the accuracy, it is a nasty surprise for Salamence who thinks he's soooo cool with his Intimidate and Brick Break. I used to do the thing where the ev's go into just attack and hp and the leftover in defense, but perhaps some ev's should be taken out of attack and put into defenses? I am also debating the two physical moves, and Roar (Roar is cliche, but, GOD, I hate those silly Ninjask. Does Roar effect Substitute Pokemon?). Electabuzz, Modest or Mild -Thunderbolt -Fire Punch -Ice Punch -Psychic/Cross Chop? ---my second favorite Pokemon, but so predictable. Because of that low defense and HP, I am wary of Thunderwave. Modest nature would make a nice special-based roster. But Cross Chop may be a nice Blissey/grossly overweight normal type counter. I'm also wondering just how much speed Electabuzz needs, especially since uber fast Pokemon like Gengar and Aerodactle can always outspeed 'buzz. Hitmonchan, Adamant or Careful -Sky Uppercut -Bulk Up/Agility -Earthquake -Rockslide My favorite Pokemon, but I need a lot of help. I am most stumped on ev spread. Obviously, he gets no special attack ev's, and I'm not even bothering with Speed, but I need help with how much he should get in Hp, Defenses, and Attack. It's too bad Hitmon have such awful hp :*(. If he had Bulk Up, then he could have Careful nature and boost his attack and defense, and MAYBE have mach punch over Sky Uppercut. If he has adamant nature and agility though, he has a chance of outspeeding some Pokemon and taking one or two down. Would he work as a sub puncher? I don't care how much Hitmonchan sucks, he must be there O_O. Golduck, Modest/Bold nature, Cloud 9 -Surf -Psychic -Ice Beam -Calm Mind ---Ok, so this one is uber predictable. How common is exploding? Should it have Damp ability instead? Maybe Golduck should be the starter Pokemon and use Psyche Up to steal substitute and stuff. Sound good? Flygon, Mild -Earthquake -Fire Blast -Dragon Claw/Crunch/Quick Attack -Rockslide ---Flygon, Flygon, Flygon... I love you, but why do you have such average-gross special attack but ability to use several good special-based moves? I was thinking of QA for the dreaded sub/salac/reversal Pokemon, but I fear Flygon won't get many oppurtunities to use the move. I may just give it adamant nature but keep Fire Blast. Or use Hidden Power Bug/Ghost (I hate Hidden Power). I just want to use Flygon, dammit. Armaldo, adamant/careful -Ancient Power (I like the chance of a boost in power...)/Rock Blast -Aerial Ace (you never know) -Earthquake -Brick Break ---I don't know if Aerial Ace is worth it or not. I don't even know how well Armaldo can fare in battle. I hate water types, which is why I'm considering careful nature (I may just go with ev's into special defense and HP, then use Sword's Dance. Major help on this dude is appreciated). I hate Rock Blast but if I run into a lot of subs, I may have to have it. *** So let's do a rundown of the team. All of my Pokemon except Armaldo have mediocre defense. As far as I can see, there are no repeat weaknesses. There is an annoying repeat of Earthquake, Fighting, and Ice moves. While those types are important to have on a team, a concern of mine lies with Water Pokemon who have Ice Beam. I also fear those fast hard-hitters, like Gengar and Aerodactl. I hate Substitute and Hidden Power. Unless another hold item would be better, they will all be holding leftovers. Thanks in advance... |
OK. That looks like a UU team, so get rid of Flygon. You'll get toasted with that team in the OU metagame.
I suck with the majority of UUs, and several BLs, so I'll only be able to help with some. For the rest, you'll want to go to Smogon for. To find the pokemon yoiu need, go to 'R/S,' then type in the name of the poke you're looking for. Iirc, Exploud does better off as a CBer, not a PHazer, and doesn't make a good lead w/o the CB. Blizzard is just... no. For Electabuzz, use 216 Spd EVs, 196 Sp.Atk, and put the rest in Atk. Mild. Use Cross Chop>one of your non-STABed moves. If I knew more about UU, I could tell you which. [email protected] 252 Atk/252 Speed/6 HP Adamant Sky Uppercut -HP:Ghost/Focus Punch -Earthquake -Rockslide/Focus Punch If you're gonna use a set like that on Golduck, you may as well use Slowbro, Rest>Psychic. Bold. For EVs: some HP (make sure the stat's divisable by 16), enough for ~330 Def, a fair amount of Sp.Atk, the rest in Sp.Def. As for Flygon, ditch it. Or you could ditch the majority of your others and make an OU team. Your choice, but you can't use an OU pokemon on a UU team. Get something that can Sp.Wall. Maybe a Grumpig. [email protected] 180 HP/116 Atk/116 Def/96 Sp.Def Adamant -Rock Blast -Rapid Spin -HP:Bug -Swords Dance Someone else can help you with the rest of it. |
Yeah, Roar penetrates Substitute. I learned this the hard way in Colosseum when a Ninetales roared my Ninjask.

if your back in Netbattle i'll battle you also PC has a Netbattle server now so i'll meet u there for a battle
|
OU? BL? I said I'm using Pokemon I like. I'm not trying to prove myself by using UU Pokemon. Will the world explode if an overused Pokemon is with the lesser underused ones? Oh horror of horrors. Thanks for the Armaldo set I guess.

I was thinking about that Exploud. I really think that Ice Beam would be better. Call me biased, but that one time where I missed three Blizzards in a row sorta turned me off that attack. Double Battle, too. Of course, on the other hand, you have the possible of freezing two Pokemon at once, which is also cool.
Anyways, I love the Golduck moveset. You're absolutely right. Exploding isn't (shouldn't be) that common, but I guess you have those people who insist on blowing up good things for the sake of power. So Cloud Nine > Damp. As for Armaldo, he's one of my favorites, and I found that this moveset works very well with him. -Earthquake -Rock Blast -Facade -Swords Dance You won't BELIEVE how many people try to status him. Unfortunately, I can't help with the Electrabuzz. I've never even SEEN one in action (Netbattle, ingame, or anything). |
I've never really considered Facade on Pokemon who don't have Guts. It's one of those ignored normal-type moves. I'd also like more suggestions on Hitmonchan ev's. I still don't see Speed as being worth it because it's borderline between average and low.
Any suggestions for the Flygon? I am not ditching it or CHANGING ALL OF THE POKEMON ON A TEAM. Can one ice beam from an Exploud faint Pokemon who are weak to the move (besides one who are double weak to ice)? edit: though if OU and UU really is that big of a deal, I may use Gligar. Not one of my faves, but it is very close to Flygon type-wise. |
Considering that a Pokemon needs to have at least a Special Attack of 260 to faint the 4x weak Salamence, you'd have to devote some serious amounts of EVs to make Ice Beam worthwhile. So for pure power, Blizzard is better.

this team looks fun to use and includes some of my favorites, if you plan to use this in OU skarmbliss with beat you unless you CH with cross chop |
Ah, I was waiting for an indepth rate like this.
-About Exploud... there is one problem. It can't learn Focus Punch :*(. Are you sure that the few speed ev's are necessary though? -I may use that Electabuzz -Hitmonchan. Doesn't choice band mean that you can only use one move, and have to switch out to use a different one? Also... hy hi jump kick ? o_O -Golduck. Hypnosis only hits 60% of the time. That seems way too risky. Modest it is. -The Flygon looks close to how any Flygon should be. Though the moves are good, when I had a little battle last night, the mix sweeper Flygon proved to have some merit: I switched Flygon into a Raikou. Expecting another switch (or risking an hp ice), I use Dragon Claw, which was lucky because my opponent switched into Salamence, and dragon claw took off half its hp, then finished it off the next turn. That was probably a one-time thing though. -The Armaldo was the exact thing I made mine when I set up my team last night :D. Is spikes still really common? Well, with sword's dance, it shouldn't matter. Just a question, if I switched Armaldo into a Ninjask (who has the most predictable move roster ever), is the opponent more likely to switch out or remain there? I was thinking that switching into a Ninjask would give Armaldo a free turn to sword's dance. Not trying to be too contrary. Just questioning a few things, like hypnosis and hi jump kick (I'm assuming that's a typo). Thank you for not suggesting I replace Pokemon. |
OK. First off, I suggested you change out Flygon because this team would be overpowered by an OU team.
Second of all, no. That's not a typo. That's meant to be HJK. The next best thing is BB, which only has 75 power, so it's worth the risk. And although the CB limits you to one move, Hitmonchan can't risk being in for any length of time anyway, so it's better off using something that will boost its Atk power for the short time it will be in. |
But I don't think she cares about whether a team is OU, UU, NU or whatever. She's just using Pokemon that she likes...which is the first thing she said.
|
=( exploud can't
because HJK has more PP than sky uppercut, and I believe they have the same power when I used exploud I used this set, but, I'm pretty sure its a bad idea Exploud (M) @ Leftovers Trait: Soundproof EVs: 208 HP / 28 Atk / 20 Spd / 252 SAtk Rash Nature (+SAtk, -SDef) - Counter - Fire Blast - Ice Beam - Return Basically, a lot of people expect Exploud to be a physical attacker, so they quickly switch to skarm, to take the return, instead to recieve a fire blast. IB is for Salamence, the speed Evs for other exploud (lol) and skarmory. Return is to do some damage to blissey and counter is to take out atleast 1 pokemon a game. You are only doing 27%-31% to blissey with return so, rest could be an option over that. or if you want to be really cool use dynamic punch, which can 3HKO Blissey if it doesn't softboiled, which she might not be able to do through the confusion. an alternate set which I don't think is entirely stupid like the one I posted above isL ~Howl ~Fire Blast ~Return ~Shadow Ball the only reason this fails is because of this guy ability, if he could be roar'ed skarmory might stay in a little longer with him. Basically, FB steels, shadow Ball ghosts and psychics, and Return the rest. Rocks are annoying =/ |
