8 out of 10 that Gyarados is reallly a good one

Bliksem August 16th, 2005 10:29 PM

The team is very solid and stable, so I can't really do much to critique. What I can do is ask the more knowledgeable people on the board what the purpose of a Tauntridos is. I can't understand how it would be benificial to force an opponent attack. In all but one of the scenarios in my mind, I can't see how it would work. Perhaps someone could give me an example?

Person 1 sends out Gyarados
Person 2 sends out Exeggutor

Person 2 switches Exeggutor for Jolteon
Person 1's Gyarados uses Taunt

Person 2's Jolteon uses Thunderbolt
Person 1's Gyarados faints.

Person 1 switches Gyarados for Rhydon
Person 2's Jolteon uses Thunderbolt
It doesn't effect Rhydon

So you see, in each of the scenarios, unless the Gyarados is REALLY good at predicting, it doesn't really have a chance to really use taunt effectively. At least, according to my mind.

the idea is for poison, leech seed that kind of stuff

Rayquaza 55 August 17th, 2005 12:58 PM

how about

Person 1 sends out Gyarados
Person 2 sends out Exeggutor

Person 2 switches Exeggutor for Jolteon
Person 1's Gyarados uses dragon dance

Person 1's Gyarados uses taunt
Person 2's Jolteon uses endure but is blocked by taunt

Person 1's Gyarados uses earthquake
Person 2's Jolteon fainted

Bliksem August 17th, 2005 1:30 PM

It's really all about prediction, I guess. In the same go, one could (say) switch to Salamence or Aerodactyl after the Endure is taunted. So I understand how it'd be good, but not as good as everyone says it is. But then again, the scenarios are rather biased.

jc_rcw August 17th, 2005 1:32 PM

yup all about luck:)(message too short)

leafgreen386 August 17th, 2005 6:49 PM

The point is to stop pokes from PHazing you out (ie. Suicune), and to stop random junk like WoW, T-Wave, and stat ups.

Bliksem August 18th, 2005 12:54 AM

That makes a lot of sense, it does.

Sneasel 2 August 19th, 2005 7:15 AM

wow that is very good team

Insanity Mawile August 19th, 2005 11:23 AM

lol wtf.

Jolteon @ Leftovers always. Anyway...

Be careful of Swampert...

Check that, be REALLY careful of Swampert.

Bliksem August 19th, 2005 11:28 AM

On that Starmie, it's better to go with Thunder Wave than Psychic if you're going to put Rapid Spin in there. Starmie with Psy,Surf,T-Bolt is more of a sweeper, while a Starmie with T-Wave, Rapid Spin, and Recover is more Utility/Annoyer.

...Maybe it's because I don't like Rapid Spin *doesn't really deal with Spikes/Leech Seed*

jc_rcw August 19th, 2005 1:10 PM

*punches bliskem* I like my sweeping starmie it helps a lot:)

Ice demon August 19th, 2005 1:35 PM

anyway
lol...taunt screws weezing, stops skarmory and suicune and well blissey without softboil is finished off easily...
Celebi too...no HB/CM, leech seed or recover...means a dead celebi.

Deathstar is done.
Starmie - icebeam/thunderbolt/recover/rapid spin

jc_rcw August 19th, 2005 2:13 PM

happy to see some one who understands the power of taunt:D
