2.

The Houndour line are commonly used by evil teams whenever it is available in their main regions’s rosters.

It was definitely a needed addition to Platinum alongside the Magmar line.

FeraligatrMaster November 19th, 2022 5:02 AM

1.

Its line has wrongfully been excluded from the Sinnoh dex in BDSP.

ReKoil November 19th, 2022 7:06 AM

0.
Although not a part of the Dex you could still catch a Houndoom in the Grand Underground in BDSP early on, around the second badge iirc.
Edit: Yep, right before the second badge.

Anyway, Houndour is discarded.

Time for the horndog:

10.

FeraligatrMaster November 19th, 2022 7:58 AM

11.

I shall vote Houndoom up.

Devalue November 19th, 2022 9:00 AM

12

Likes Houndoom, despite not being big on dog Pokemon.

ReKoil November 19th, 2022 9:30 AM

13.

Idc about Houndoom, it's just there for me.

FeraligatrMaster November 19th, 2022 9:36 AM

14.

Houndoom has high Special Attack.

ReKoil November 19th, 2022 9:57 AM

15.

They gave it a Mega in gen 6.

FeraligatrMaster November 19th, 2022 9:59 AM

16.

Its Mega has Solar Power. I would've given it a different ability.

ZeoStar November 19th, 2022 10:03 AM

17. Cool dog

FeraligatrMaster November 19th, 2022 10:32 AM

18.

It's used by Archer and Karen in the Johto games.

ReKoil November 19th, 2022 11:01 AM

19.

Female Houndoom have shorter horns.

CF1994 November 19th, 2022 11:05 AM

20.

Houndoom is one of the few special-orientated Dark-types worth using. Tyranitar is also serviceable prior to the physical/special split.

One was even nice to Misty’s Togepi in one episode of the anime.

And with the Johto doggo safe, it is now time to judge… Kingdra!

https://play.pokemonshowdown.com/sprites/xyani/kingdra.gif

10.

ReKoil November 19th, 2022 11:07 AM

11.

Kingdra is going up.

FeraligatrMaster November 19th, 2022 12:00 PM

12.

Water/Dragon is a good typing.

CF1994 November 19th, 2022 12:18 PM

13.

It shares the Water/Dragon combo with Palkia, Dracovish, and the new Sushi Pokémon; Tatsugiri.

ReKoil November 19th, 2022 12:29 PM

14.

Seadra should've been Water/Dragon too imo

CF1994 November 19th, 2022 12:32 PM

15.

Dragon-types should have had a couple of damaging moves that dealt super effective damage other than the fixed Dragon Rage, which would get culled in later generations.

FeraligatrMaster November 19th, 2022 12:34 PM

16.

I would've introduced Dragon Claw, Dragon Pulse, and Dual Chop earlier.

ReKoil November 19th, 2022 1:51 PM

17.

Although normally a held item trade evo, in the Isle of Armor DLC you can catch a wild Kingdra in the Honeycalm Sea during a Thunderstorm.

FeraligatrMaster November 19th, 2022 1:59 PM

18.

In GSC, Clair's Kingdra was annoying to deal with.

ReKoil November 19th, 2022 3:05 PM

19.

Kingdra was the only new Dragon type Pokemon in gen 2.

FeraligatrMaster November 20th, 2022 1:15 AM

20.

Kingdra has been saved. Phanpy is next.

https://play.pokemonshowdown.com/sprites/xyani/phanpy.gif

10.

CF1994 November 20th, 2022 2:23 AM

11.

Phanpy returned for Paldea.

FeraligatrMaster November 20th, 2022 3:01 AM

12.

I can live with voting Phanpy up.

CF1994 November 20th, 2022 3:06 AM

13.

The only, but still reliable, Ground-type attack it could use for a while was Earthquake.

Not that most would be running Magnitude or anything.

FeraligatrMaster November 20th, 2022 3:30 AM

14.

It should've gotten moves like Magnitude and Mud Shot in its level-up movepool in earlier generations. Even if those moves are better suited for early game.

ReKoil November 20th, 2022 4:10 AM

15.

Phanpy's pretty cute.

FeraligatrMaster November 20th, 2022 4:53 AM

16.

Ash Ketchum got a Phanpy.

CF1994 November 20th, 2022 5:39 AM

17.

Had Rollout been a Ground-type attack, Phanpy and Donphan would be absolute early game units against those not airborne or levitating.

ReKoil November 20th, 2022 5:47 AM

18.

It can get High Horsepower via Egg moves.

FeraligatrMaster November 20th, 2022 5:59 AM

19.

It evolves at level 25.

ReKoil November 20th, 2022 7:15 AM

20.

10.

FeraligatrMaster November 20th, 2022 8:39 AM

11.

I'll vote it up for sure.

CF1994 November 20th, 2022 8:46 AM

12.

Donphan has two Paradox variants.

The past variant is known as “Great Tusk”, a Ground/Fighting-type.

The future variant is known as “Iron Treads”, a Ground/Steel-type.

ReKoil November 20th, 2022 9:17 AM

13.

It's HA is Sand Veil.

FeraligatrMaster November 20th, 2022 9:46 AM

14.

Good to see it in the Paldea dex after not being included in any other regional dex after Hoenn.

ReKoil November 20th, 2022 9:58 AM

15.

Donphan shares its category with Tyranitar. They are both known as the Armor Pokémon.

FeraligatrMaster November 20th, 2022 11:02 AM

16.

Donphan has high Attack and Defense.

ReKoil November 20th, 2022 11:25 AM

17.

It learns Fire & Thunder Fang.

FeraligatrMaster November 20th, 2022 11:29 AM

18.

It can also learn Ice Shard.

CF1994 November 20th, 2022 12:35 PM

19.

From Gen V onwards, Sturdy allows it to survive hard-hitting special hits.

Mintaka☆ November 20th, 2022 1:19 PM

20. Saved!

Now, Porygon2! No introductions needed!

10.

CF1994 November 20th, 2022 1:33 PM

11.

https://play.pokemonshowdown.com/sprites/xyani/porygon2.gif

It is a very good wall in VGC thanks to Eviolite, the Bolt Beam combo, Trick Room, and of course, Recover.

FeraligatrMaster November 20th, 2022 1:38 PM

12.

And it's cute.

ReKoil November 20th, 2022 1:42 PM

13.
Shouldn't that be a 12 above me? 10 -> 11 -> 13

I like Porygon2.

CF1994 November 20th, 2022 2:01 PM

14.

It didn’t particularly need an evolution, but the fact that it did anyways gives it Eviolite privileges.

Mintaka☆ November 20th, 2022 2:28 PM

15.

Good and cute. I don't like its canon evolution, but I do enjoy seeing fans come up with their own upgrades - like Porygon-WES from Xenoverse.

FeraligatrMaster November 20th, 2022 2:59 PM

16.

It has a cute cry.

ReKoil November 20th, 2022 3:01 PM

17.

This line is the only line that requires 2 consecutive trade evolutions to get to the final stage.

Mintaka☆ November 20th, 2022 5:30 PM

18.

It's a real shame that it requires two consecutive trades to get to its final form. Fortunately, Porygon2 can stand well enough on its own until Game Freak gives it the "correct" evolution.

Sweet Serenity November 20th, 2022 6:17 PM

17.

Never liked or cared for Porygon2 or the entire Porygon line.

CF1994 November 20th, 2022 6:19 PM

18.

Maybe one day Porygon2 can succeed what it was designed to do: Perform cosmic tasks.

Sheep November 20th, 2022 7:03 PM

19

I honestly really like it!

Mintaka☆ November 20th, 2022 7:57 PM

20. And thus it's saved!

Next up, a Pokémon that couldn't be more appropriate for the upcoming season: Stantler!

10.

FeraligatrMaster November 21st, 2022 12:35 AM

9.

I'm going to vote Stantler down. It's one of my least favourite Pokemon.

CF1994 November 21st, 2022 12:53 AM

8.

It got an evolution in Legends: Arceus, though it remains to be seen how Wyrdeer fares competitively.

Like Girafarig, both gain large HP upon evolution. At least Agility exists

FeraligatrMaster November 21st, 2022 1:22 AM

7.

This line should've been designed with the beta deer in mind. Especially their mouths.

CF1994 November 21st, 2022 1:44 AM

6.

Intimidate can be handy for Mono Normal playthroughs in Johto and Paldea.

For the latter, though, Staraptor is in the roster.

FeraligatrMaster November 21st, 2022 2:31 AM

5.

Staravia and Staraptor have a much better design and typing.

ReKoil November 21st, 2022 3:27 AM

4.

I don't really dislike it, but it's not a mon I'm gonna fight for.

FeraligatrMaster November 21st, 2022 3:45 AM

3.

I've grown to hate Stantler because it annoyed me in the Gen 2 games and ROM hacks.

ReKoil November 21st, 2022 6:00 AM

2.

In BDSP it's a version exclusive to SP.

CF1994 November 21st, 2022 7:09 AM

The Deering line are worthwhile deer Pokémon.

CF1994 November 21st, 2022 9:42 AM

11.

It was a menace with Dark Void before the move got obscenely nerfed in Sun/Moon.

FeraligatrMaster November 21st, 2022 10:06 AM

12.

I think Smeargle is cute.

CF1994 November 21st, 2022 10:46 AM

13.

It is bad offensively, but good at setting up.

It is one of the fastest Spore users you can use, and the only user as such to set up hazards, remove them, set up stat boosts, and then pass them on through Baton Pass to beef up your teammate.

Mintaka☆ November 21st, 2022 11:37 AM

14.

I like this dum-dum dog. It's still a much better graffiti Mon than Grafaiai. Ilima's Smeargle nearly beat me in US/UM too.

FeraligatrMaster November 21st, 2022 11:51 AM

15.

Its highest stat is its Speed. Its other stats are low.

Sweet Serenity November 21st, 2022 1:25 PM

16. Perhaps the greatest support Pokémon of all time because it can have almost any moveset that you choose and the ability Moody is tons of fun.

CF1994 November 21st, 2022 2:09 PM

17.

Moody is flat out busted, but Smeargle is a great user with that Ability.

Mintaka☆ November 21st, 2022 3:35 PM

18.

Xenoverse gave it a Fairy-type X variant based on a pastry chef. It's so cute! 😭 Just don't let it near a Xenolith, or you'll regret it.

Devalue November 21st, 2022 9:18 PM

8

Too humanlike and terrible moves.

Sweet Serenity November 21st, 2022 9:46 PM

9. He's the baby in the legendary Hitmon family and he doesn't have terrible moves. The key is to breed him for good egg moves and then evolve him so your new Hitmon can have good, unique moves they normally can't learn.

ReKoil November 22nd, 2022 12:07 AM

8.

I dislike the way it evolves mainly.

CF1994 November 22nd, 2022 1:56 AM

7.

It is tricky to ensure Tyrogue has the right EV/IV distribution to get the specific Hitmon you desire.

Sometimes, I wish improved breeding mechanics were applied before Dexit, as some of Hitmontop’s best moves to fully capitalise on its Technician Ability can only be acquired via breeding.

FeraligatrMaster November 22nd, 2022 7:46 AM

6.

There are ROM hacks in which its evolution method is replaced with something less frustrating.

ReKoil November 22nd, 2022 8:52 AM

5.

Tyrogue is the only Pokémon whose evolution is determined by stats.

FeraligatrMaster November 22nd, 2022 10:09 AM

4.

Trying to get Hitmontop is obnoxious.

CF1994 November 22nd, 2022 10:54 AM

3.

Tyrogue can be obtained from the Karate King, although I would have personally preferred him to be found in a cavern that didn’t require Waterfall.

ReKoil November 22nd, 2022 11:52 AM

Thanks goodness you people discarded Tyrogue, I hate them in Sw/Sh so much lol

11.

Hitmontop is my favourite of the Hitmons because it's the least human-like of all of them. It kinda looks like a funny bear.

ZeoStar November 22nd, 2022 6:11 PM

12.

I like it.

But oh man, it's almost unusable in Gen 2. Even in story mode.

This is coming from someone who used Umbreon, which can hardly attack at all.

My least favorite Hitmon, but I'll just go with the flow on this one.

Sweet Serenity November 23rd, 2022 5:56 AM

15. Intimidate is always a great ability in competitive battles and Fake Out is always a great move in competitive Doubles!

CF1994 November 23rd, 2022 7:12 AM

16.

It can take advantage of Rapid Spin speed boosts whenever it clears entry hazards in battle.

FeraligatrMaster November 23rd, 2022 7:36 AM

17.

Hitmontop is cute.

ReKoil November 23rd, 2022 8:26 AM

They should've given either a Hitmontop or Heracross to Chuck in the Johto games.

CF1994 November 23rd, 2022 9:32 AM

19.

It can be taught Triple Axel to deal with Dragons and Flying-types, even breaking through those holding a Focus Sash.
