Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of This Team!
i may be new to the big-time pokemon scene and advanced concepts such as EVs, but i believe i've finally learned enough to construct a good team.
as soon as i beat the elite four and fix the network machine in FR/LG, i'm thinking about making this team. what do you think of it? Hariyama (M) @ Brightpowder Ability: Guts EVs: 252 Hp / 252 Atk / 6 Def Adamant (+Atk, -Sp. Atk) or Brave (+Atk, -Spd) nature Substitute Focus Punch (I LOVE 150+STAB!) Facade Foresight Hariyama would like to say a few words. Go ahead. "PLEASE T-WAVE ME!!!!!" Blissey (F) @ Leftovers Ability: Serene Grace EVs: 252 Hp / 252 Sp. Atk / 6 Sp. Def Quiet (+Sp. Atk, -Spd) or Modest (+Sp. Atk, -Atk) nature Substitute Seismic Toss Ice Beam Softboiled Alakazam (M) @ Choice Band Ability: Synchronize EVs: 252 Sp. Atk / 252 Spd / 6 Hp Modest (+Sp. Atk, -Atk) nature Psychic Fire Punch Ice Punch HP Dark i may need to tweak the move set on this one. Salamence (M) @ King's Rock Ability: Intimidate EVs: 252 Atk / 252 Spd / 6 Hp Adamant (+Atk, -Sp. Atk) nature Dragon Dance Earthquake Rock Slide HP Flying the moves may need work here, too. Cradily (F) @ Leftovers Ability: Suction Cups EVs: 252 Def / 252 Sp. Def / 6 Hp Bold (+Def, -Atk) nature Toxic Confuse Ray Ingrain Giga Drain Milotic (F) @ Leftovers Ability: Marvel Scale EVs: 252 Hp / 252 Sp. Atk / 6 Spd Modest (+Sp. Atk, -Atk) nature Surf Confuse Ray Dragonbreath Recover note: and don't suggest any legendaries! got that? |
I suck at Hariyama.
Blissey (F) @ Leftovers Ability: Serene Grace <-- Natural Cure EVs: 252 Hp / 252 Sp. Atk / 6 Sp. Def <-- Sp. Atk??? No. 252 Def. rest split between HP and Sp. Def Quiet (+Sp. Atk, -Spd) or Modest (+Sp. Atk, -Atk) nature<--defensive nature Substitute Seismic Toss Ice Beam <-- Thunder Wave Softboiled Salamence (M) @ King's Rock <-- hax Items suck. Leftovers or Lum Berry Ability: Intimidate EVs: 252 Atk / 252 Spd / 6 Hp Adamant (+Atk, -Sp. Atk) nature <-- Jolly Mence is sexyier, but ok. Dragon Dance <--Keep this or replace with Flamethrower for skarms Earthquake Rock Slide HP Flying <-- Aerial Ace I suck with the pokemon I didnt cover, 4 of the 6 xD But yeah. |
choice band on a trickless alakazam?
Alakazam[timid]@leftovers EVs - 252 Sp,252 SpAtt,6hp psychic fire punch thunderpunch/ice punch calm mind Cradily[+SpDef,-SpAtt/-Sp]@leftovers Evs - 252 hp,around 200 SpDef and the rest in Att earthquake rockslide/giga drain toxic recover giga drain is just to have fun with swampert.. Salamence[jolly]@choice band EVs - 252 Sp,252 Att,6 hp fire blast/brick break earthquake HP flying rockslide Milotic[bold]@leftovers EVs - 160 hp,max def, rest in SpAtt and SpDef ice beam surf hypnosis recover Check the moveset and EV sticky at the top of the page for all standard blissey movesets. Hariyama[adamant]@leftovers EVs - lots of SpDef and Hp,rest in Att cross chop/focus punch substitute rockslide/HP ghost knock off whirlwind and counter are fun also. |
I don't think you'd have enough time to Calm Mind the Alakazam, because one EQ is a KO. Maybe you should just have this:
[email protected] Nature - [Modest (+Sp.Attack, -Attack)] OR [Timid (+Speed, -Attack)] Timid preferred. EVs - Speed - 252, Sp.Attack 252, HP 6 Psychic Fire punch Ice Punch Thunder Punch |
CM is for that old chap who can predict a switch.
|
That's a smart way of using it, but most people just attack it, because of it's low defense.
|
I use CMzam and it works fine with me so dunno what you people think.

SOMETIMES, POKEMON CANNOT KILL POKEMON WITH MOVE. POKEMON SWITCHES OUT SO NEW POKEMON KILLS POKEMON WITH MOVE. ALAKAZAM TAKES ADVANTAGE OF THIS AND USES CALM MIND. CALM MIND MAKES KILLING POKEMON WITH MOVE MORE KILLEY. there, simple explination. |

lol.Omfg i love that word. well since its ingame, i guess three punches and psychic works. However CM superior for competitive play, when switching is a integral part of winning.[ie my suggestion and ham's backing > everyone else] |
hariyama wants to be t-waved so bad so gengar decides to screw him over.
*hariyama forgets Facade & Foresight and learns HP Ghost & Knock Off. i don't see why so many people want to pump defense EVs into blissey. its Def can only go up to 130 even in the most favorable conditions. *alakazam becomes timid, forgets HP Dark, and learns Trick. not my style, but 'wynaut'? *salamence becomes a lefty. just look at cradily. it loves being an annoying little tank. do you want to deny her that love? 'shocked and confused, the poke doesn't know what hit him after a big wave crashes down on him. but life will go on without him, i suppose.' -Milotic |

with no defense EVs or nature, Salamence OHKOes Blissey with Brick Break. this assumes no Dragon Dances or Choice Band.
with Max Defense EVs and Nature, Bliss survives the Brick Break at about 50% HP. leftovers make this attempt to KO Bliss a 3HKO, barring max damage twice or a Critical hit. this also was made without DD or CB. A max Sp.atk/Natured Alakazam Psychic(no CM boost) does 20% average to a EV/natureless Bliss. maxing Sp.def reduces that number by a WHOLE FIVE PERCENT. Alakazam Psychic is one of the stronger Sp.attacks out there. these numbers are with max Attack and Sp.atk on Salamence's and Zam's part. the Bliss has the standard 704 HP. as you can see, Defense is FAR more significant |

hmm... i guess i've still got statistics work to do. grrr...
anyway, i'll just post my revised team right here since i've made so many changes. ignore my previous posts. changes in bold Hariyama (M) @ Leftovers Ability: Guts EVs: 252 Atk / 100 Spd / 158 Sp. Def (go ahead. say it. they're f***ed up, aren't they?) Adamant (+Atk, -Sp. Atk) nature Substitute Focus Punch (I LOVE 150+STAB!) HP Ghost Bulk Up Blissey (F) @ Leftovers Ability: Natural Cure EVs: 212 Hp / 252 Def / 46 Sp. Def Bold (+Def, -Atk) nature Aromatherapy Seismic Toss Thunder Wave Softboiled i SO hate standards... Alakazam (M) @ Choice Band Ability: Synchronize EVs: 252 Sp. Atk / 252 Spd / 6 Hp (EDIT) Timid (+Spd, -Atk) nature (EDIT) Psychic Fire Punch Calm Mind Trick Salamence (M) @ Lum Berry Ability: Intimidate EVs: 252 Atk / 252 Spd / 6 Hp Adamant (+Atk, -Sp. Atk) nature Dragon Dance Earthquake Fire Blast (EDIT) HP Flying / Aerial Ace if necessary Cradily (F) @ Leftovers (EDIT: may get rid of this one altogether; looking for another tank...) Ability: Suction Cups EVs: 252 Def / 252 Sp. Def / 6 Hp OR 164 Def / 200 Sp. Def / 146 Hp (i'm not sure) Bold (+Def, -Atk) nature Toxic Confuse Ray Ingrain Giga Drain just let her be annoying. she likes being annoying. Milotic (F) @ Leftovers Ability: Marvel Scale EVs: 202 Hp / 252 Def / 56 Sp. Def Bold (+Def, -Atk) nature Surf Hypnosis (EDIT; like i said, i SO hate standards...) Ice Beam Recover |
Hypnosis has a 60% chance of 100% prevention of attacking, and it stays after switch. the fact that one of thier pokemon is inmobile is a major asset.
Confuse Ray is more luck based, and doesn't work well on the Thunderbolts that are going to fly at it, thanks to use of Modest/Timid on most, if not all, electric types, and is cured on a switch. |
Cradily should really change...
anyway..Alakazam should still Keep the same 252/252/6 in SpAtt/Sp/hp as before with a timid nature.Actually, u can also bring ur Sp into the 355 range and add the rest of the EVs into hp.Anyone can work fine.Recover is a possibility over Fire punch or CM.As is substitute. Hariyama should drop some Att EVs into either more SpDef or hp. Hypnosis is great on milotic, cuz it can take hits until hypnosis hits.Alternatively i'll take toxic instead of confuse ray. Fireblast over rockslide on that salamence and keep HP flying. |

And Aerial Ace works better. D: |
Quote:
Quote:
no also.Granted its ingame so he would end up using that anyway. But still...HP flying > aerial ace |
Quote:
|
with a not to crazy EV spread it can OHKO Skarm with a little luck.
|
Quote:
|
If we're going on the basis of ingame then might as well leave out any fire move and keep rockslide. No wait, better do absolutely nothing with movesets and just level up...
Whatever..... The main reason why i suggesting Fire blast, is that if he plans on battling friends [who may or at least should have skarm] or for reference if he uses NB. |
note: i do plan on using this team in NB, eventually. i want to raise it in-game first to see how it works.
i've made a few changes to my team. *alakazam becomes a CB-trick/CM special sweeper. *salamence forgets rock slide and learns fire blast. *milotic forgets confuse ray and learns hypnosis. :\ EDIT: i'm changing something else, again. i may have found my Cradily replacement. i may try ludicolo instead. Ludicolo (F) @ Leftovers Ability: Rain Dish EVs: 252 Hp / 202 Def / 56 Sp. Def Bold (+Def, -Atk) nature Rain Dance Leech Seed Dive Toxic this any good? |
Quote:
The game is about skill, not whether or not you can score a lucky hit. Use flamethrower for christs sake. You want to be able to hit more often, fair enough Fire Blast is more powerful, but it adds up as FT doing more damage overall. Quote:
|
it's not like i'd actually have to use fire blast that often. it's only for your typical spikers (skarm, forretress). it could OHKO forretress easily and probably 2HKO skarm.
think about it: odds of missing 1 fire blast: 15% odds of missing 2 fire blast in a row: 2.25% there's not as much luck involved as you're implying. |
