Quick Question!

Swizzler121 October 22nd, 2005 3:52 PM

1. this isn't the place for this, It should go in the help/request thread

2. we use programs like RMXP(cost:60), sphere(cost:0), Gamemaker(cost:0)Rm2k3(cost:???) the reward of making a game...Priceless.

Ninja Tree October 22nd, 2005 3:58 PM

Well you should really start of programming in C,C++, or Java. Then create a game but...if you don't wanna just use Sphere, ika,or VERGE.

Bam October 22nd, 2005 3:59 PM

sorry for posting it in the wrong place! but i dont really understand? can some1 elaborate on how to make a game? do u download a program or something?

Ninja Tree October 22nd, 2005 4:07 PM

Learn C++ or C or Java from a book and start game programming once you're profficient with them.

Bam October 22nd, 2005 4:08 PM

huh i dont get it! do u download a program or something?

Ninja Tree October 22nd, 2005 4:12 PM

You learn the language first...and you have a compiler.

Bam October 22nd, 2005 4:13 PM

??? just tell me where to download the thing! and whats a compiler? do i need to download it?

Ninja Tree October 22nd, 2005 4:15 PM

Yes...first you need to read a tutorial or book then learn it.

whatsup October 22nd, 2005 4:17 PM

or u could hack a pokemon game hommie

Bam October 22nd, 2005 4:17 PM

ok can u give me a link to a tutorial thing so i can learn it?

Ninja Tree October 22nd, 2005 4:20 PM

Search for some tutorials google...preferably Java. Its good for begginers. BUT YOU REALLY HAVE TO STUDY IT.

Bam October 22nd, 2005 4:20 PM

ok so what do i search for?

Ninja Tree October 22nd, 2005 4:21 PM

Java tutorials...and download the stuff you need at: java.sun.com

But you really should get a book.

I see your a begginer
you could learn script! ( I dont know how you use script)

or you could download a program!
I use a program called RPG MAker 2003
(the picture of how it looks like it on the attachment!)

you just upload a tileset (the floor, trees, water, houses, grass)
-place it on wherever you want
-put events(people, sighs -things that you can talk to or will respond back to you!)
-put the music
-do the monsters!

I recomend you download RPGmaker XP (I cant use it my screens too small)
unless you know Script!

Bam October 22nd, 2005 4:50 PM

k ty i definetly will! thanx so much!

Ninja Tree October 22nd, 2005 4:54 PM

No don't use that because in the long run you'll wish you never wasted time on that and wish you actually learned to program.

Swizzler121 October 22nd, 2005 8:27 PM

you don't need to learn how to Code to make a game, unless you are using an unpopular engine, and to correct TheAbsol, It's Javascript, Java is a much more complicated and much more complex programming language, look at me, I only know a few Javascript codes, and i'm making one of the most popular pkmn games here!

GMuser October 22nd, 2005 9:10 PM

Or you could settle halfway - easy to use (ok, it gets harder once you use the cooler functions), and involves programming (so you have full control of how your game looks like), of course I am talking about Game Maker ( www.gamemaker.nl , http://forums.gamemaker.nl ).

Just so you know, making games/programs is tough work- but once you get into it, it's alot of fun!

what do you mean it takes long to run!?

it just takes a few seconds!
Ive been using Rpgmaker for years it, its easy

-RPGMAKER- if your wnan make a good game and dont know how to code and cant be stuffed learning it( Im making a very good game with it -Pokemon Illsuion-)

-SPHERE- If you want to make a oraginal game, more Flexible , not this will take time and coding you'll have to learn..But its easier than pure coding

-PURE CODING- If you want to make a very flexable game use this but ti is te hardest of the lot!!!

hope that helps

You should tell him that applies to RM2000 and RM2003 cause XP u can't get too far with it without coding in ruby.

true, but if you're gonna make a game in Sphere be sure to plan the script very well cause it gets messy after 1500 lines of code XD

well, ye. If he wants to make THE GAME with big G x_x I agree with TheAbsol the best language would be Java as it has the Java2D and Swing, AWT packages, etc that let u define tilesets, etc. But if you're thinking about making a game with Java have in mind you'Re going to have to make ur own map editor with layers, events and all that stuff you will have to code them urself.

hum, that's all ^_^

i'm sorry, but i have to close this thread.
