Everyone who uses DeviantART for sprites (or at all) should see this.
From another forum, you're not allowed to link to other forums so I'll post the message:

Ha ha ha. This is just ****ing awesome. Alright, just to get everyone up to speed on things first...
deviantART.com is a popular art site which is run by a bunch of green eyed ****ing idiots. They give all their friends and family moderatoing priveledges and basicly lets them loose **** on everything they come across. dA.com has also had a very nasty history of being against sprite art, and will find any excuse they can to delete it, no matter who made it, what it's of, and what program they used. They have to date deleted three of my works.
Anyway, lately, my VERY FIRST ART SUBMISSION EVER, which has been up for over two years, was deleted for a copyright violation. It was my second most popular artpiece of all time, had over 30 postive comments, it was pretty much my pride and glory. I sent them a message about it, they replied that since I didn't have Sega's permission to make Sonic-styled sprites, I wasn't allowed to post it ( surprisingly, they left the six other ones just like it completely alone. ****ing retarded, or what? ).
So, I pretty much shoved this in their faces. Sprite artists are cheering in joy, laughing their asses off at the site, the forums are buzzing, mods are ****ting themselves. This is ****ing great. However, some stubbern **** head is patheticly trying to do everything in his power to not allow my sprite to be revived. He's sent me pathetic **** such as "deviantART.com earn a profit, so you can't post it." I told him unless I was selling prints, copies, or gaining money from the art itself, then I can post it. Just today, he told me "deviantART.com has adverts. We earn a profit through the adverts, so you can't post it.". I told him "Unless you assholes are taking my artwork without telling me ( which itself is a copyright violation ) and you are putting them in the advertisements themselves, then I can post it."
It's truely pathetic. This site is not professional at all. They're nothing but a bunch of discriminating assholes with no more than a public school education if "Our sites has advertisements" is the best excuse they can think of. It's no wonder at all why over half of the members left for something better a year or two ago.
