Evon Master : A Pokémon-like !
 
Salutations,
i come here to show my project, which is a Pokémon-like (without joke...^^)

I don't think that my project is like some others : the background is totally original my game don't use Pokémon creatures, but Evons, (Evon means "EVOlutiON). There is actually 562 Evons. Cities or special characters are new, no reference to the Pokémon universe.

I have a lot of ideas to make my game different (i hope no one has ever had these) :
- The trainer can become member of an alliance, it offers him some presents, informations, Evons, access to special buildings, but cost it a fee.
- We can't capture all evons : when we have one, we must win money if we want give him food, if you have more than ten Evons, it's really difficult to won the money we need to buy some.
- Trainers have partners : we can play with the two (not really like Emerald version, we can switch between the two).
- Evons can die in battle or if it is totally tired, ill, etc...
- Evolution may be possible, only if it's necessary, a powerful Evon needn't become better.
- Access to houses is controled by a small system like The Sims, we can enter in an house after met its owner.

...Screenshots must speak better then me about the graphic style, which is in pure Pokémon style, in larger, but the forum has a strange rule : we can't post url before 15 posts...I you want to see some, you can go to my website, in "Evon Master" and "Gallerie". I will post it after 15 posts.

I will create a demonstration version, will be available in december, i will try to translate it in english. Ah, yes, sorry if you see mistakes in my post, i'm french and my english is approximative.

I try again, nothing works... Not very important, but the rule is stupid...But if it can stop fakes members...

About chipsets... I don't use chipsets. I make my game in Dark Basic, i find it more and more powerful than RPGMaker. It's logic, it is a programming language.

I have a lot of ideas of this type.
I forget the main : the game has a system like GTA : we can choose missions in a center. This offer a great liberty to the player. Of course, there will be a campaign with the main scenario.

Hmm... I'm not sure bout this game but maybe it will be better than expected, so I wish you good luck and hope you manage to finish this game.

Hmm, pas mal parce c'est qu'il y a deux problemes:
1. Les 'Tileset' c'est en irreguleur
2. Les 'Characteurs' ont comme le (same, sorry I know too many languages)

EDIT: I went on your websie and saw some screnshots, they were good thogh the people are creepy!(tall, skinny un-pokemon like)

If the mod (ouch, my pseudo on all the web except here) do that, it's a few unfair. He represent the forum rules, but that is these which stop me.

Nothing...

About characters, if they are all the same, it's because i use only the horrible small pink character for my tests.
I use it too for create some other characters (parts of body), it explains why it is with flashy colors, i must see easily the cut betwwen to parts.

@ Budgie Boy : i try, retry to understand what you write (in french)...difficult, but i understand. My english is better than your french, i think, but french is difficult...

Screens and three creatures
 
I can post my screens...Ouf!

The battle system, it's not complete, a back image must be here, it will describe the sort of ground, the weather and hour (morning, midday, midnight...) :

How do you find it? Better? Worse?

Just two more Evons, they belong to the same species, the Altache. In first, you can see Altachu (Altache orbis), and in second Seadoran (Altache mares).

If someone know a good dynamic antialiasing technic that i can put in-game...
But it will be more visible in the game, because there will be the background.

It's nice that when you expanded the graphics you drew back over them to stop them from looking very pixelly. I think you should use a variety of people sprites, though, otherwise it looks like a group of clones ^^;
The bottom part of the battle screen is nice, but the top part is very plain

I agree with Claire. Those NPCs make the pokemon world seem like some virtual robot world.. xD Good luck with this.

Come new screens. Yes, it's really like the last versions of Pokémon for the map with charcaters (new style, but clone effect always here...but now it's a girl).
The new thing, it's of course battle backdrop (i take same Evons, i prefer show other in the full game or in the demo)

I must thanks Blizzy for images in the starterkit, it's easier to use them (i compare what i do with rescalled images. I don't make directly a rescalling, it's too boring to change rescalled images, before i use magazines images, not useful) to do new graphics.

All the CharSets in the current Starter Kit were made by me, just letting you know.
If you take a look at the filenames, you'll also notice that they avatar in the name.

Also, you need to read this post before use.

Battle system description :

In the game we can't have more than 5 or 6 Evons, because food cost a lot when you have too much Evons. There is a better micromanagement, and to don't stop the player to 2 or 3 attacks types, an Evon can have 10 attacks, but it can only use 4 in battle, they are choosen by the player before the battle (in options : the game always ask for or the player set attacks by default).

There are two sort of attacks : defensive and offensive. An offensive attack must be put in an offensive slot, which cost 2 TP (Training points, PE in french), a defensive attack must be put in a defensive slot, which cost 1 TP.

When an Evon grown up to a superior level, if it has stats which allow him to learn an attack, the game ask you if you want to put the attack in a slot (if you have the good slot, offensive or defensive, of course). If you choose yes, the Evon learn the attack, but can't use it, because it hasn't trained him to use the attack.

An attack, to become available, cost some PT which depends of the attack power. You can give PT to this attack to make it become available.

PT are obtained when an Evon level up.

An example to understand better the system :

An Evon, Saurebraise (Type 1 : Fire, Element/type 3 : Ground) grow up to level 7, old stats :

HP : 20
ATQ : 16
DEF : 14
SPE ATQ: 19
SPE DEF: 17
SPEED : 14

New stats :

HP : 22
ATQ : 18
DEF : 15
SPE ATQ: 21
SPE DEF: 19
SPEED : 15

Actual Attacks :
Offensive Slot : Fireball
Offensive Slot : Hot Shock
Defensive Slot : Big eyes
Defensive Slot : Mini Shield
1 unused PT + 1 new PT

The Evon obtain 1 PT in level up, it has now 2 PT, the player choose to create an offensive slot.

An attack, Scratch, need 15 in ATQ and 15 in SPEED to be learned, we can see that Saurebraise has now ATQ and SPEED which complete these conditions, and he has an offensive slot, so the game ask the player to knox if he wants to learn Scratch to Saurebraise, then it depends of player's choice.

Saurebraise has now five attacks :
Offensive Slot : Fireball
Offensive Slot : Hot Shock
Offensive Slot : Scratch
Defensive Slot : Big eyes
Defensive Slot : Mini Shield

In battle, we can't use more than 4 attacks, before the battle, the game ask the player to choose 4 attacks.

I put here some artworks, which are ever in my website. The strange machine can lead to you your food if you pay a fee, it's usual than go in a city to buy it. No more comment, you'll can see trainers style, and an evon, lost between other screens.

To make the game, i code it in Dark Basic Professional.
(Cos i use it, i have a BIG problem actually : i can't load more than 100/150 different images. If i do, the framerate fall from 250 to 9...The developpement continue)
