If we were to make the most powerful team around it'd be our team >_>. And even that's not technically possible. List a pokemon or two that you're interested in or a strategy you'd like to use.

I still don't know what finess means, but Ralt's 3rd form is called Gardevoir. I'l see what I can do later.

grandmaster192 February 13th, 2006 11:23 PM

I spelled it wrong.

finesse:delicacy of execution; refined and graceful skill; subtle or tactful strategy.

example: Mewtwo is a very finesse fighter, but machamp is not.

swiftcommander February 14th, 2006 10:41 AM

I saw this odd combo sweep a few teams. I wonder if I can build my own team around this.
[email protected]
HP Fight to kill Taunt-tar
Charm
Baton Pass
Mean Look
252 HP/100 ATK/158 DEF
I took e4's idea of HP Electric and modified it to kill taunt-tar.

[email protected]
Iron Defense
Swords Dance
Agility
HP Steel
252 ATK/enough for 200 SPD i think that's 136/rest in DEF

If executed properly this sweeps teams. It's impossible to predict because most Umbry are SDers.
Lock in a physical sweeper, charm 3x, BP to Scizor, Iron Defend up, stat up and kill everything in your path because scizor now has more than 1000 ATK, 800+ SPD, and 900+ DEF.

Synchronize February 14th, 2006 11:17 AM

Any kind of offensive move on Umby is not gonna be beneficial, especially if you're just trying to counter one pokemon. Tar prolly has too much defense for HP fighting to make much of a difference anyway. It'll just Taunt your Charms and 2-4HKO with Rock Slide.

And that Scizor fails, because HP Steel rarely KOs anything, even with stat boosts, and it's a crappy offensive type. Stop trying to learn from E4 for your own good.

Oh finesse. I see. Well, the problem is that your opinion of finesse differs from everyone else's. It's all subjective.

Yeah, really bad teams. Any experienced trainer can counter this as soon as they see Umbreon. Taunt, Substitute, Roar, Whirlwind, Haze, Trick, etc.

If you really want to use Scizor, make it a Reversaler. If you want to take advantage of Baton pass, then make a Baton Pass team.

I would like all opinions.

swiftcommander February 15th, 2006 10:42 AM

Gyara has high SD but HP Electric 2HKOs it. Why would HP Fight not 2HKO T-Tar, esp. because Umbry's ATK>Umbry's SA.
And HP Steel=HP Bug so why not?

This is the wrong thread to discuss this, but I've already explained why HP electric phails in another post, and HP Fighting prolly won't 2HKO tar because of its defense, but I honestly don't know. Besides, Taunt does a better job of stopping Tyranitar, because you can trap-pass afterwards to something that won't take as much damage from TTar, or Charm-pass it.

HP Bug is actually better IMO (Swarm ftw), but besides that fact, HP Steel is a crappy offensive type. Think about it, no one's really gonna use a physical move against it and try and 1-2HKO, especially if you've got Iron Defense up. So it shall turn to Special Moves:

Special Moves Super Effective/Effective Against Scizor
- Water
- Fire
- Electric

You'll most likely find at least 2 of these on every team, and they'll usually 2-3HKO Scizor.

Special Pokemon Types That Resist Steel Type Moves
- Fire
- Water
- Electric

Coincidence? I think not. HP Bug is better for STAB + Swarm, and HP Rock for general usefulness. If you just trade one of those slots for Baton Pass, however, you can trade HP for Silver Wind (random stat boost passing ftw) and pass **** along while not getting screwed by stuff like Magneton, Zapdos, Suicune (without Roar >_>), etc, etc.

Grandmaster, I'll try to work on your team as soon as possible for me.

grandmaster192 February 16th, 2006 2:28 AM

Can someone please help me make a Finesse team?

Synchronize February 16th, 2006 11:31 AM

You're lucky I like helping people:

Gardevoir (M) @ Leftovers / Lum Berry
Trait: Trace
EVs: 44 HP / 240 SAtk / 224 Spd
Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Calm Mind
- Psychic
- Thunderbolt / Ice Punch
- Will-O-Wisp / Fire Punch

I like Trace more than Synchronize on Gardy, but either one is cool. Fire Punch works better with trace to kill Magneton. You can also outspeed a few DDMences and OHKO with Ice Punch.

Dragonite (M) @ Leftovers
Trait: Inner Focus
EVs: 196 HP / 72 Atk / 240 SAtk
Quiet Nature (+SAtk, -Spd)
- Focus Punch
- Ice Beam
- Substitute
- Thunderbolt

Someone save my EVs.

Articuno @ Leftovers
Trait: Pressure
EVs: 252 HP / 100 SAtk / 156 SDef
Calm Nature (+SDef, -Atk)
- Haze
- Ice Beam
- Reflect / Heal Bell
- Roar

Haze and Heal Bell are XD moves, so make sure to change your mods. Otherwise try Rest. Might need more defense EVs than SDef, but Meh.

Milotic (M) @ Leftovers
Trait: Marvel Scale
EVs: 212 HP / 240 Def / 56 SAtk
Bold Nature (+Def, -Atk)
- Hypnosis
- Ice Beam
- Recover
- Surf

That's all I can think of finesse-wise. Gimme some suggestions and I'll try and complete it.

Rubberbandman February 16th, 2006 1:58 PM

Dragonite (M) @ Leftovers
Trait: Inner Focus
EVs: 196 HP / 72 Atk / 240 SAtk
Rash Nature (+SAtk, -SDef)
- Focus Punch
- Ice Beam
- Substitute
- Thunderbolt

Rash over Quiet, thats about all I can do without NB Lol

aragornbird February 16th, 2006 3:43 PM

*♣♥♦*♣♥♦*♣♥♦*♣♥♦

I think the following Pokemon are rather graceful

Ninetales (M) @ Leftovers
Trait: Flash Fire
EVs: 56 HP / 148 Spd / 208 SAtk / 96 SDef
Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Fire Blast
- Grudge
- Will-O-Wisp
- Substitute

Vaporeon (M) @ Leftovers
Trait: Water Absorb
EVs: 188 HP / 252 Def / 68 SAtk
Bold Nature (+Def, -Atk)
- Baton Pass
- Ice Beam
- Substitute
- Wish

Espeon (M) @ Leftovers
Trait: Synchronize
EVs: 196 HP / 160 Spd / 152 SDef
Calm Nature (+SDef, -Atk)
- Psychic
- Calm Mind
- Substitute
- Baton Pass

Latios/Latias (M) @ Soul Dew
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 96 HP / 208 Spd / 120 SAtk / 84 SDef
Modest Nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
- Calm Mind
- Dragon Claw
- Safeguard/Hidden Power [Fire]
- Recover
Latios might need more Sp. Def than Sp. Atk, and Latias might need more Sp. Atk than Sp. Def.

Those pokemon are great, plus I have them all exept milon. I don't even know what that is. I'm also looking at Kingdra and Lapras.

You mean Milotic? And its Milotic > Kingdra+Lapras

Synchronize February 19th, 2006 11:02 AM

Lapras kicks Milotic's butt iirc. Assuming Sleep Clause is present and/or Hypnosis misses >_>. Either Way Milotic can't do anything except Recover while Lapras Tbolts away.

I believe that your post doesn't have any single relation towards the topic of the thread... this isn't one of those chitchat forums, I assume so I'll have to warn you for spamming...

Fl0W:HHGURU February 21st, 2006 9:28 AM

Requesting a good team, no ubers, no legendarys, must include Manetric and Arcanine, thanks ^_-

Well those two on the same team don't make a necessarily good team, but I'll see what I can do:

Manetric (M) @ Leftovers
Trait: Static
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Spd / 252 SAtk
Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Crunch
- Hidden Power [Grass]
- Substitute
- Thunderbolt

Arcanine (M) @ Leftovers / White Herb
Trait: Intimidate
EVs: 252 HP / 240 Atk / 16 SAtk
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Extremespeed
- Hidden Power [Fighting]
- Howl / Crunch
- Overheat

I was thinking Brave or Quiet Nature, but meh. Howl is generally preferred, but who lets a Fire type set up anyway? Therefore Crunch is a decent alternative for vs. Gengar and Dusclops.

Quagsire (M) @ Leftovers
Trait: Water Absorb
EVs: 212 HP / 16 Atk / 240 Def / 44 SDef
Relaxed Nature (+Def, -Atk)
- Counter
- Earthquake
- Ice Beam
- Protect

I don't know if Arcanine is BL or UU, but I decided to make this a UU/BL team since Quaggy resists (for the most part) what Arcanine and Manetric fear most. lol @ mini-swampert. I doubt it survives too many grass moves like Swampert can, so I went for the defensive nature this time.

Victreebel (M) @ Leftovers
Trait: Chlorophyll
EVs: 240 Atk / 252 Spd / 16 SAtk
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Hidden Power [Fire] / Encore
- Sludge Bomb
- Substitute
- Swords Dance

Hi. Take off the SAtk Evs if using encore, obviously.

Clefable (M) @ Leftovers
Trait: Cute Charm
EVs: 212 HP / 204 Def / 100 SDef
Calm Nature (+SDef, -Atk)
- Reflect
- Seismic Toss / Body Slam
- Thunder Wave / Shadow Ball
- Wish

zomg its like a Hypno. 2nd and 3rd slots in tandem plz.

And Im outta ideas at this point. Maybe a UU Flying type.

Fl0W:HHGURU February 22nd, 2006 8:27 AM

Looks good so far, thanks. Problem:
