Wow. DS lite. That looks nice.
|
It doesn't belong in Other Entertainment, but it belongs in Other Games. I will wisk it there now.
MOVED |
Oh god... they are releasing a new DS...
And I just got mine :( |
I knew this would happen. That the main reason I don't have a DS yet. I don't want to be screw up like when I got my GBA. A few months latter the SP came out. Well this time it won't be like that.
|
Based on the new design it somewhat makes sense to do it. It looks Revolution inspired, with the milky white-ness.
I don't like it when Nintendo releases these things. Early adopters, like myself, should get some kind of benefit, not just the late people. |
I usually hate it when things like this happen. But now that I'm working I don't find the price tags for games and systems quite so high. So yeah I'll definitely be picking one o' these up when they reach my shores. Lighter, slimmer, sharper screen? Sounds good to me.
|
I actually don't like the solid colour scheme of this and the Revolution. It's too iPod-esque. I like seeing the buttons.
|
I kind of expected something more drastic and dramatic than just a smaller version of the ds. I think some things are weird
1. The mic is inbetween the two screens, in MKds, you have to blow into the mic to blow up your balloons, what if you fog up the screens? 2. Why'd they place the start and select buttons elsewhere? They made it just like the advance. I think the color's pretty nice (my silver laptop's turning that color in some places) That's about all I have to say except I still dont think the dslite is that much smaller. And I probably wont buy it.... but that's what I said to the gbasp and then several months later I bought one. Meh, I'm happy with my ds. Besides it did cost me the price plus 50 bucks for the screen repair when it broke. Why ditch it for the better? Sounds so heartless. |
Eh, I prefer the older version. It isn't as prone to breakage as this one probably will be. They always release the more durable one first then throw out one that's easy to break a year or so after... *coughSPcough*
|
I've never found a Nintendo product to be prone to breakages... They're always top-quality.
|
I agree with Lucifer, Nintendo does keep their stuff high quality. Both my SP and GBA still work. And I've had both for like.... a long time (hell even my GBA works and up till a few months ago my SNES worked).
Anyway on to the new DS. I'm going to buy it, it's as simple as that. I want a new DS because the one I have now doesn't like me (the head is loose and it bugs me). On top of that it looks sweet with it's small look. The Size: I always love it when Nintendo pops out a new smaller hand held (and I still think the Micro is too freaking small!). I got the SP when I had my GBA and I'm going to get the Lite. The new DS looks really small and that's a good thing (unless you lose small things XD). The Screen: I guess the brightness settings will help save battery life. And that's always a good thing on long trips or if you play it a lot and don't feel like charging or getting tied down by wires. The Looks: I'll just say it looks great and leave it at that (I like the Rev style look to it). XD I agree that the mic is in the wrong place (who thought of putting it in the middle of the two) and should be moved somewhere else. And the price is a little up there then what the DS costs now. GameSpot said it'll be priced at $145 dollars (so a little higher then the DS). Over all I like the system, and I'll be getting it (maybe not the day it comes out but I'll get it). |
The name: DS Lite...I don't really like it
It is just a smaller MORE portable DS, that is the only difference. 39% Smaller 21% Lighter. That is is. |
x___x
I freaking love the milky white prettiness. But like Kohei, I just received mine about a month ago. GAH. |
Now this looks COOL, I wonder if this DS and play GB/GBC games.
|
Er, no. D: It will never ~ that would increase the size.
As for me~ sure, it's smaller. But the original DS [and not the original concept design!] stole my heart and will never let go <3 I'll probably _not_ buy this. |
Haha...they should have thought about the weight factor before they decided to give it two screens, that would have solved everything.
Ninty wants your money, chilluns. |
Paul and Brotlov brought a good point. Will it be able to still play GBA games? I mean they did have to do something to make it smaller. I mean logically Nintendo won't do that because it is a bacd market decidion. Lost of profits and all.

As for the people complaining about a redesign, you should have expected it. Nintendo has redesigned the NES/SNES/GB/GBA and if the N64/GCN were more successful, I'm sure we would've seen a redesign for those two as well. It's not like Nintendo is the only company who redesign's their products either. Apple is constantly releasing a new generation of iPod that usually has very little improvements over the last one, and Sony has also redesigned the PSX/PS2 as well. That said, I think it's not even meant for those who already bought it, it's really aimed at those who have yet purchased a DS because of it's looks or weight or because of other factors they didn't buy one for. They obviously didn't do anything radical like add an analog stick because that would be something that would alienate the current DS owners and could even effect some of the current games. But it's a nice addition to the current models and is a good alternative for those who do not already own a DS but wanted to get one for it's games. If you currently have a DS and really want this one, it's obviously going to cost you, but there is really no need for you to get one. |
Neat. I can't wait to get me one of those.
|
Looks pretty good though me rather keep me old DS then waste money on the same console that has just gotten a face lift O.o
|
It's pretty nice; much nicer then the original for sure. I was waiting to buy a DS and I'm glad I did.
|
I actually prefer the DS Lite's design to the current one's. Perhaps I'll pick one of these up once they become much cheaper (or, in counterpoint, I become much less poor). At least it's not like the SP... dang I really hated those things!
|
If the SP didn't release, I'd be surprised. The DS Lite seems okay... at the least. But... white <3
|
Andy brings up a good point about the micro...if I played that somehow, someway id swallow it, but that'd be an awesome way to die "I died by a bullet wound", "I died from cancer" "Hey guess what? i swallowed a gameboy!"
well i bought by DS last June and it rocks...but i over played it and have charged it over night more then once on accident...and the battery life is starting to die on me...maybe i will buy this one, im afraid it'll be to sharp (the corners) and i'd end up cutting off my fingers when i play it...XD oh yeah i came back to PC for a couple minutes everyone! |
