Nothing major to me. I'm pissed because after I got my GBA the SP came out with the lighted screen - that was the big thing. I'll probably get the old version when I do because it's cheaper.

Rift January 30th, 2006 7:45 PM

Hey i just noticed something...WHERES THE ON BUTTON!? XD lol

Samurai X January 30th, 2006 8:07 PM

A lot of people(not here) keep saying that it's too i-Pod looking because it's white, it's not like Apple invented that color.

Anyways, I will probably be getting one of these when it comes out here in the States. Nintendo does want our money and they'll be getting mine. I'm making them rich!!

You're just like Austin. I told him you turned it on by using your mind. XD

It's most likely on the side like the SP was.

Mario The World Champion January 31st, 2006 4:01 AM

Well, makes me glad I haven't bought myself a DS.

But, I could get myself an older version for under $100 at some places I know of.

If you turned it on using your mind I'd buy it. Talk about innovation! XD

You know, I know it was confirmed to be a switch like the SP, but your post made me thing of something else, if the switch is now on the said and is like the SP the system can no longer be turned off by the firmware, which means they have to upgrade it. Now I'm hoping that they don't do something like add WPA support or online Pictochat or I might have to try and get my hands on one of these too.

Ketay February 1st, 2006 6:02 PM

Ehh, this seems way too early for a DS Redesign... But I guess it looks pretty good. I probably won't end up getting it though. =(

Well, it does have a downside if you turn it on and off by using your mind...

Andy: *Playing games and getting a really high score on a new game*
Andy's mom: Turn the lights off and go to bed.
Andy: *Thinks Lights "off"* off... *Looks down at the DS and sees it turn off* O_O NOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!
XD

Well I'm sure it's still in the prototype stage. They'll most likely have it on the side but a button like the DS one.

Brittany February 1st, 2006 7:07 PM

Looked like a style-concious version of the DS at first, but the touchscreen is supposedly raised- definete turnoff IMO.

Anyway, I think it's safe to say that DSlite will kill off some PSP fans, especially the ones condemning the original DS because of it's fisherprice-toy-resemblence.

Oh, and by the way- are the buttons backlit?

Morkula February 1st, 2006 8:06 PM

It's been confirmed that the power button is a switch on the side, guys... XD

Samurai X February 1st, 2006 10:47 PM

In regards to the switch thing and the firmware not being able to turn it off, they could always update the firmware or the switch might be like the PSP switch, just switch it on and it turns on(or off) and then the switch goes back to it's original position. Also it just might be a button............

Well that's exactly my point, if they upgrade the firmware for that they can also update it for other things like WPA support in the process.

BTW, did anyone see this color of the new DS?

It's not official, but Nintendo did say they will release this new DS in three colours at launch so hopefully black is one of them. :D

MOON~DANCER February 4th, 2006 7:47 PM

I WANT THAT DS OR THE BLUE ONE ....*sigh* my family doesnt have enough money.....

Samurai X February 8th, 2006 6:22 PM

Finally the question of, "where is the power button?" is answered, here is a pic, this is a prototype(assumingly) but it looks pretty much like the picture Nintendo gave out, the white looks flatter than I thought but it's all good, it's just a prototype.

This DS does look good, but I won't spend money to buy it. The average DS is fine.

Here's another picture showing the location of the power button and stylus holder. Part of a set of new shots Nintendo recently released of the machine.

For those who want to see the three colors of it, along with rotating coolness:

Or if you're on a slow connection and don't want to wait for that to load (although it is REALLY cool)...
