Maybe its just me but... XD

Have anyone noticed this becides me? People consider themselves a "senior" member and they only have 100 posts or so XD. I have seen this a couple of times and I just luaghed I mean you could pull off 100 posts in like 1 week that is most definetly NOT senior XD. Really I wont consider myself a senior member untill I hit 500 posts and I am here about 1 years XD.

Muffin Man March 26th, 2004 9:09 AM

I dont think you are a senior member at 100 posts but you're not exactly a newbie either, at about 50 posts I would consider someone out of newbiesville and someone whos just umm.."regular?"
I say a senior member is someone who is well known at PC, and i'm not exactly that well known.

ChoasTheory March 26th, 2004 9:33 AM

i could get 50 posts in 1 day are you serios?!?!?! XD i have been on for 3 hours and i am closing in on 35 XD.

Kayleigh March 26th, 2004 9:37 AM

I guess you would really only be considered a 'Senior Member' if you've been here for a while, and you're pretty well-known at PC. 'Veterans' would be those who were here when the site first began, and have stayed and are still posting.

ChoasTheory March 26th, 2004 10:01 AM

I think that it depends on how well you are known as well. Example if moonlight restarted her post count she would still be a senior member XD.

MoonLight March 26th, 2004 10:09 AM

yea I consider people who are Veterans, that been here a while. Like I been here close to the begining Nov 15, 2002 long time eh XD
So even if I lost all my posts I would still be one :)

Greed March 26th, 2004 10:52 AM

*points at join date* I don't consider mehself a veteran, but I know I'm a senior member. O_o;

It ticks me off when a person with 100 posts says they're seniors, that's not true. Once you hit 500 posts and are known then that's when you're a senior member. --;; I dunno what's a person with 1,000+ posts called O_o;;

*dies*

Kayleigh March 26th, 2004 11:05 AM

Er... 'Super Senior Member'? XD I dunno, 'Senior' reminds me of old people...

And I don't think that post count has anything to do with whether you're a Senior member or not. It just depends how long you've been here. If you're not active, but you've been here for a while, you shouldn't go calling yourself a 'Senior Member' just for attention. You need to be active too.

Kairi March 26th, 2004 12:20 PM

Senior members is the default vB title for a member with 100+ posts. Those people aren't really being vain. Personally it doesn't matter to me if you've been here since day 1 or yesterday. Depends on what kind of person you are and how you post. =\ Postcount really means nothing to me, and I'd 0 mine out to prove it if I could.

Chairman Kaga March 26th, 2004 12:48 PM

At least this isn't a place that discriminates against n00bs...that's why I'm still here. Anywhere I go for the first time, if I get one snide comment from an established member just because I'm new I automatically leave. Of course I'm a n00b compared to you all...I'm insignificant, but it doesn't mean that I'm not a contributing member. It takes time to build a reputation...months usually. Even if I was able to churn out 50 posts a day (although I did yesterday o_o;; ) it wouldn't mean that I was doing anything important...the thing is I, or the other n00bs, don't know anyone here really so we're always at a disadvantage as there's no way to enter the inner circle that was forged here long ago. At the pokemon community that I was exiled from for trying to expose the corrupt admin, I was in the inner circle before the admin turned everyone against me, and I know how exclusive and un-enterable the inner circles of internet communities are...that's why I haven't been able to fit into anywhere else. N00bs are usually seen as random drones and, thus, are brushed aside. I don't care if that's the case with me...I'm just glad there's no turmoil here, and that's why I stay, and in time I will become a little more established here, as will all n00bs who make an attempt to be a useful member. It just takes a lot of time and a lot of thought.

My 2 cents...

Post count has nothing to do with being a senior, it is how long you have been at the forum that makes you a senior.

Pokemaster10000 March 26th, 2004 2:04 PM

I could make 100 post in a day so I think it has nothing to do with post count.
I think it's when your active and have been here for a while.

I've been here for less than three months so I don't consider myself one.

Imakuni? March 26th, 2004 2:05 PM

ive been here 3 months andit says senior it means that i have a certain amount of posts

Timbjerr March 26th, 2004 2:13 PM

I think a senior member is someone who has developed their reputation at PC to the highest level.

It took someone like 100marios less time to become "senior" because he joined and started his funny stuff immediately. Someone like me took a few months to become "senior" because I wasn't well-known until about 6 months after I joined. It all depends.

Greed March 26th, 2004 2:21 PM

Well, tmbjr has a point. Ya gotta be a character to remember that person ^^ Posts are not always guaranteed to make ya a senior =P Mostly activeness does ^-^ Hey, I'm not that active *5 posts per day, and can't log on sundays most of the times* but for some reason these people know my name O_O;;

Hmm, am I active enough to be a senior?
Atleast I think I am....

Kairi March 26th, 2004 2:44 PM

Seniors? Pfft. I don't believe it. Why should anyone be discriminated against for spending more or less time here? =\ My "post reply" button is any different than a "newbie"s or anyone else's. We all make up the posts and community, it's not like people who are well known should consider themselves "senior", nor should it be something you shoot for. Having friends and being well known is nice, but really it's nothing tangible you obtain.

Well, then technically I am a senior also according to the custom title, but I have only been here 3 months. Think of it this way: just say a newbie gets 700 posts in less then 24 hours, is he or she a senior?

Uhh yes? :P j/k
No is the real answer right?

But still what Kairi said is true. Every member is important.

Blaine March 26th, 2004 4:03 PM

Hm... Tough subject. To me, senior members are equivalent to veterans. People who know the ropes of PC and post all-around. Not just in the crush thread or in some RP. Also, people who, like Moonlight said, have been here since the beginning. Like at the old PC. I am in no way a veteran yet. I've a few months to go till I hit that "supreme" status, lol. But, I don't believe in the "noob" system, so technically, in my eyes, ya'll are all members.

Kairi March 26th, 2004 6:41 PM

*I* am in no way a veteran. Nor is Arcanine, Dakota, 22sa or anyone else. We're all the same, the events of our past can be beneficial, but they shouldn't make us part of some "status" people believe they must achieve. "If I can just get 1000 posts..." "If I have been a member for a few more months..." "If I became a mod..." these are things we think will put us in this exalted place. But you know what? IT doesn't change you. If anything maybe you gain more confidence, but that's not an officially anointed thing. All of the above are placebos for some sort of feeling of being left out people may feel. I know the feeling too, often I feel so old and left out of DCC and such these days.

But I don't believe more posts are a different colored name will do anything to that. It's about me enjoying myself and bonding with the people though interaction. Sure there are rules to follow, and moderators to handle things. We often get so caught up in the small necessities like those that they become the purpose of the forum, instead of the original. "Veterans", as I said, feel left out some time too. Surely the way they're glorified "we" wouldn't have any problems like that. Right? Right...?

aRedMoon March 26th, 2004 7:10 PM

I personally think it's if you're a willing and contributing member. Post count really doesn't make a big difference when you think about it...

I defiantly don't consider myself a senior member - I haven't been here nearly long enough. I was still a n00b at the old PC when I stopped coming... and now I'm right back in that position. o.o

Mmm...

Greed March 27th, 2004 12:04 PM

To be honest, I respect more people who were here longer and are known more better. I don't really give much respect to people who are newbies. =/ But I'm not mean to them, I just am not too cool with em =P But I don't think only seniors should be respected, maybe also nice people are respected too. Since they're not troublemakers or anything ^^;

Ooops! I forgot to answer PM10000's question! My bad ^^;;;

Anyways, yeah, I think you're a senior =D You're active, you're nice, and you're pretty popular. =3 Actually, PC's lucky to have you cus we rarely get any nice active members. ^_^
