My new Pokémon Game

This is my Pokémon game:

Pokémon: A Mapping Adventure

MAKER: RPG Maker XP

In this game, you will learn the basics of making maps for your Pokémon fangames. Every once in a while, you will need to answer questions to move on to the next part. Otherwise, you need to study more!

Storyline: You are a game maker. You are questing to make a Pokémon fangame, but your mapping is deplorable. You seek help.

Basically, a game made for aweful mappers. This is not for entertainment. This is to teach people how to map and not be bored reading a tutorial.

Features: Little people to whom you must answer questions. Well, none really.

Credit List:
Blizzy (Starter Kit)
Avatar (Sprites)
mattgcn (Music)
Fangking (Tilesets)
Bruno (Custom Tiles)

Also, no one has permission to use my custom tiles! You do, even with credit given, will be severely punished. Both my little brother (Bruno) and I have agreed not to let anyone use them. (Except for us)

boo hoo, I want to make a game, but I'm a total zero and I've never used any program XD yeah, I'm weird XD

Pokemaniac3454 March 7th, 2006 10:12 PM

NO SECOND PAGE!!! lol. Good game. Can'twait till the demo comes out!

tdata March 8th, 2006 12:14 AM

this may seem weird, but you should include the dynamic houses script. then you can show people how to map the insides.

Alistair March 8th, 2006 3:04 AM

I just realized something: I don't have any interior tilesets! If someone could post a complete one, the demo could be done today.

exteradude March 8th, 2006 4:21 PM

Check the resource thread, in the game dev games showcase sec.

Alistair March 8th, 2006 6:22 PM

I already checked. Nothing there but broken links, at least for what I was searching for. I was going to release a demo today with all the sprites being outside, but my copy of RMXP crapped out on me and now I have to re-download it on a 28.8Kb/s connection. I am srry to say this again, but the demo will not be released today. I will just post it, instead of giving false hope by saying I will release it tomorrow. I probably will though. Don't be surprised if I don't.

Karmillina March 8th, 2006 9:06 PM

no problem... just take your time and have no worries!! ;)

Yuoaman March 9th, 2006 8:10 AM

Right, there's no rush. Just finish it!

Alistair March 9th, 2006 4:53 PM

I played your demo and I have a few comments.

1) You are using several resources without permission and without credit, resources such as my character sets. Refrain from doing so.
2) I do not agree with most of your points on how to map. They do not reflect how the final map is required to look like.
3) The starting point is too random. Make some sort of intro explaining the point of the 'game', then start the player off at the beginning of the 'game' and have him work up from there. Make the player answer a few question before passing on to the next lesson, that way you would be sure that people do not skip some parts of the tutorials.

Otherwise, the material is good as reference for inexperienced mappers only.

Alistair March 11th, 2006 6:01 AM

Yeah, I was kinda in a hurry to get the demo done. Also, sorry for not giving credit. I always forget.

rmxpman March 11th, 2006 6:10 AM

Cool!I hope n00bs take this seriously though.
