Oh yes! I love the new screenshots man! I see you're using R/S/E tiles too. They look better in FR/LG.:P Can't wait to see more bud. Btw, how come the name of the hack is now Pokemon Yttrium 89?

doesn't matter December 5th, 2006 9:02 PM

Dude the new screenies look great.

But GSC tiles? :<

And yeah, why is there "89" in the title now?

Blackandy December 5th, 2006 11:19 PM

Great screens IIIMQIII they all look great lots of luck with this;)

*!!Emerald!!* December 6th, 2006 12:34 AM

you are very good at creating games. this is one of a kind and the screenshots i seen are excellent.

zel 2.0 December 6th, 2006 9:42 AM

Well, so far I liked all the screenshots. The mix of new generation sprites with old generation tiles is quite... weird, but I like it!

Another thing that... Is Leader VITO supposed to be a Magma member, or you haven't changed its sprite?

Keep up the good work! (89... Is it about some important year?)

Goku Goku December 6th, 2006 11:44 PM

Woh! With the screenshot this game looks very promising! Good job IIIMQIII! ;D Can't wait to play it, but you take your time, okay? Don't rush...this game's got potential, and the ideas are hilarious! :laugh: Hope this hack gets a review, and a good one too! :D

About the poll, I reckon you should add Hoenn to the hack, but majority says Johto, which I guess is reasonable, because this hack will include part of Johto (as said on the first post, by you IIIMQIII), so I guess it will make sense if you throw the whole thing in! :) However, I still want to see a Hoenn that has chnaged overtime - what I mean is, what are currently of the inhabitants of Hoenn (like any new gymleaders etc. :E ), and if the climate there has changed (and I'll add) etc. But it's all in your power - you decide what's best for your hack, and good luck with it! ;)

Zeroxy16 December 7th, 2006 11:01 AM

you have really lots of good idea for this hack,gl

beauty. proletariat December 7th, 2006 8:41 PM

hey... nice hack, and 2 all those peeps saying why is there an 89 after yttrium... weell, [copy]Yttrium-89 magnetic resonance study of simple coordination complexes[/paste]...
i doint really know...
this is what wikipedia thinks:
Spoiler:
Eighty-nine is the 24th prime number, following 83 and preceding 97. 89 is a Chen prime. It is the smallest Sophie Germain prime to start a Cunningham chain of the first kind of six terms, {89, 179, 359, 719, 1439, 2879}. 89 is an Eisenstein prime with no imaginary part and real part of the form 3n − 1.
89 is a Fibonacci number. Its reciprocal has a curious relationship to the Fibonacci sequence F(n):
89 is also a Markov number, appearing in solutions to the Markov Diophantine equation with other odd-indexed Fibonacci numbers.
Being the solution to x - φ(x) more often than any lower number, 89 is a highly cototient number.
Although 89 is not a Lychrel number in base 10, it is unusual that it takes 24 iterations of the reverse and add process to reach a palindrome. Among the known non-Lychrel numbers in the first 10000 integers, no other number requires that many or more iterations.

uuh, geeks wud understand dat

Anyway, hope to see more gr8 idea's and a BETA release...
~NekroBoi~

Mr Snrub December 8th, 2006 2:12 AM

1989 was the year he was born in :D

IIIMQIII December 13th, 2006 7:55 AM

Nope, nope, nope and once more, no ^^

Nekro Boi was correct. Yttrium 89 is the most stable isotope of Yttrium. Also, Yttrium and Oxygen give rise to Yttria, aka, Yttrium Oxide. That is the stuff that's used in your colour TV's tube :P Imagine a world without Yttrium...

Isotopes are the same element, but just with diffirent atomic wieghts. Think of a family of people, but some are thin, fat, etc....

I'd add parts of HOENN is, but, AM don't wanna add more
maps to my ROM -_-

TreeckoLv.100 December 13th, 2006 8:06 AM

In other words, life would be nothing without Yttrium. I praise it now:D You really got everything like, all put together don't you bud. You're one intelligent guy IIIMQIII;) Great to see you back and hope to see more updates too buddy. Keep it up my friend!

Um, VITO... Well... Nope. I'll change his sprite later :)

And now.... I present a weird, new feature....

And, the names of the first four GYM LEADERS... You'll fight them before the interval sequence, as well as the name of one of the HEX LEAGUE members... More next week ^^.

We'll have to see about that :P Lol. The HEX LEAGUE will still be the two wave thingy that was in the original, but there'll be different stuff. More next week on that too. :D

zel 2.0 December 15th, 2006 9:23 PM

Ladonna... (hmmm, who am I thinking about when I heard that name? :D)

Anyway, what? Is Mires City supposed to have three gyms??? hahaha!!!, lol

Good work, man. I haven't noticed you were adding a few tiles from Emerald before (I hope you don't overdo them, FR still has the better graphics, in my opinion). For now, it's looking pretty good.

Goku Goku December 15th, 2006 10:04 PM

Mires has 3 gyms?! However, is there going to be the usual 8 gym leaders? :nervous: Anyway, nice screenshots IIIMQIII! Keep it up! :D

Um, nope. Mires City is divided into two parts. You'll see when you play. So, each part only has one gym. So, Mires City has only two gyms, not three. And, yes, there will still be the regular 8 gym leaders.

Hello everyone...

Happy New Year and compliments of the season, etc, etc....

Now, I present the "Pseudo Time System". Watch as people come and go from time to time and certain events are locked and unlocked with the changing of the "time" during gameplay.

BEFORE: http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q237/IIIMQIII/TimeSystem2.png

DURING: http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q237/IIIMQIII/TimeSystem1.png

AFTER: http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q237/IIIMQIII/TimeSystem3.png

http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q237/IIIMQIII/VitoMsg2.png <- I'm very aware of the border here. It's been corrected.

Blackandy January 1st, 2007 1:14 PM

Great screens(as always). Can't wait for more updates and maybe a beta:) Good luck

zel 2.0 January 1st, 2007 5:46 PM

Interesting, I'll have a better look at it when I get to play it, but seems like you made a good use of flags...

Well, very nice screenshots. This hack is between the best hacks around here, but I suppose it needs more support... Good work, still.

IIIMQIII January 19th, 2007 2:46 AM

Watsup, people...

I'm back with ADSL now :D

Is there anyone here who knows how to write scripts that take money from the player? I'd apprecitae it if you could PM me, please.

More screens later. Promise.

zel 2.0 January 19th, 2007 5:25 AM

Go to WAH, there's a manual for a Payment Script (But this means, in Spanish... I wonder if you could get a good translation) Well, the important thing is the base script, after all...
PM me if you don't know how to reach WAH.

Nice to hear we'll be getting updates! G'Luck!

IIIMQIII February 4th, 2007 1:36 PM

Hi All, again.

Here are the new screens I've been promising you all. It took some time because of my ADSL cap that expired ( I was cut off till 1 Feb) and because of the registration at the University of Cape Town (I got accepted :D)

Okay... Here we go:

FLOWM TOWN (refresh) - The cave is a surprise:
http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q237/IIIMQIII/flowmrefresh1.png http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q237/IIIMQIII/flowmcave1.png

VERTIGOZ CITY (refresh) and the VERTICAL PASS (refresh):
http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q237/IIIMQIII/stupid.png http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q237/IIIMQIII/vertical1.png http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q237/IIIMQIII/vertical2.png
http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q237/IIIMQIII/vertical3.png http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q237/IIIMQIII/vertical4.png

ANIGAV PASS (refresh) and a storehouse:
http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q237/IIIMQIII/anigav2.png http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q237/IIIMQIII/storehouse1.png

That's all I have for now becuase of my busy lifestyle, but I can say that I'm gonna release this hack probably by June 2007 (or later).

Enjoy :P

zel 2.0 February 4th, 2007 2:19 PM

Nice screenies, but I guess people could start saying that there are a few errors in the mapping (maybe in parts where mountain tiles turn...) I'm not sure about that building to the right of the Gym in your first screenshot, it may be creative, or it may be considered a problem...

Hmm... Is there some kind of problem at the first screenie of Vertigoz City, it seems darker than usual... O.o (even the text box... As if it crashed... :P)

http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q237/IIIMQIII/anigav2.png In this image I think that when you jump the ledge to the left you end up over the mountain tile, right?

Well... Keep things as you can (Great you got accepted at the Uni), we (or I, perhaps there's more people out there interested lol) will be waiting for the next update! Good luck!

That building isn't meant to be any type of problem. It's meant to indicate another use of the available tiles - believe me, I've seen stranger.

As for the screen with the desert, yes, you do land on the mountain tile - and that is what's intended to happen (ie. it's a little incline you end up on).

I don't wish to use many custom tiles, so I'm trying to make do with what I have in the base FR ROM, and with what AM will allow me to do, as the tile block adding feature in AM apparently doesn't work -_-

Oh, as for the Vertigoz screen - there was a flash of lightning, so I had to darken that screenshot a little bit.

And the tree in this screen won't be there in the final. I've fixed it already.

Christos February 6th, 2007 8:43 AM

I like the Virtual reality game and the time system ideas.
Keep the mountain like that, there are some errors but it looks more like a mountain.
I hope you post more screenshots soon.

IIIMQIII February 6th, 2007 1:53 PM

Here's another update...

I present: The IGNEOUS COMPLEX.

This is a complex system of caves that spans accross HEXVI and ESTER, connecting them and housing a few important sites that you'll learn about during the game. These do unlock some new areas in existing caves in HEXVI and ESTER. Please note that I'm NOT copying rijonAdventures' "Rijon Underground Tunnels System", as I had implemented the IGNEOUS COMPLEX before I had to restart the hack. These screens are from the Alpha version, so the name and maps may be subject to change. Enjoy.

http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q237/IIIMQIII/mtcianastaat3.png http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q237/IIIMQIII/delmirescave3.png http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q237/IIIMQIII/delmirescave2.png http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q237/IIIMQIII/malevolencecave5.png http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q237/IIIMQIII/malevolencecave4.png http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q237/IIIMQIII/malevolencecave3.png
http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q237/IIIMQIII/malevolencecave2.png

By the way...

I'm planning on removing JOHTO from the hack, or just adding a portion of it. Any views on that?

zel 2.0 February 9th, 2007 6:30 PM

Yeah, sure. It always sounds good underground tunnels that connect different parts in the game (maybe we can reach inaccessible places using the tunnels also?, maybe getting a legendary if we reach certain criteria) Go for it!

And, about the Johto thing... Well, you're planning on having Hexvi and Ester, so adding Johto would be a bit too much in my opinion (unless they aren't too big), I don't know, perhaps one city would be nice/enough.

foofatron February 10th, 2007 7:43 AM

There will be -no- Beta version. Only the -final- version will be released when I believe that it is the appropriate time to do so.

Screens: Some areas have been updated, so here's some screens of two of them ;)

http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q237/IIIMQIII/NeroNew2.pnghttp://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q237/IIIMQIII/NeroNew1.png

And a new part of the IGNEOUS COMPLEX:

So with all that out of the way... I'll return to my hacking. Balancing this and university is a tough job :(

BTW: Pokémon Yttrium 89 (STABLE)'s sequel's name is: Pokémon Yttrium 92 (UNSTABLE) I hope to get started on it within the next two weeks, and have a tread up for it too. Soon.

~Later ;)

looks pretty good , but then agen the screen with the trees and mountains going along the left hand side looks wrong you need to start the monuntains and finish them clearly otherwise they look, well wierd, but anyway other maps look really good and cant wait to see more of this hack,

IIIMQIII April 3rd, 2007 11:35 AM

Hiya Everyone...

Here are a few more screens of what I've been working on (more of the IGNEOUS COMPLEX). LAter on, this system of caves playes a rather important role in the game...Especailly pertaining to obtaining the eightth badge ;)

More of the cave near FLOWM TOWN:
http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q237/IIIMQIII/FAIgneous6.pnghttp://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q237/IIIMQIII/FAIgneous3.pnghttp://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q237/IIIMQIII/FAIgneous2.png

And something interesting inside it:

Something new in another city(...Can you guess which?):
http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q237/IIIMQIII/ACave.png

And lastly, another part of the IGNEOUS COMPLEX in another city (maybe this explains the strange shots of the cave near FLOWM TOWN...):

Well, that's all for now people...Any suggestions or commets? Please make them known here! :D

EDIT: I'm releasing a Developer's Demo today. Please read the attatched README file and patch to a CLEAN FIRE RED ROM.

Um due to space and map label limitations, I will not include the whole of JOHTO, but at least one city only. Unless there's anyone out there that knows how to add more map labels and how to modify the town map... doing it in hex is frustrating ><

how can you add Ecruteak, It's conected on all 3 sides. the only direction is the north, and that's blocked by the two towers, unless, you plan on conecting it to where the tin tower is.

Oh dear me...

um, ECRUTEAK CITY's map is actually implemented into the ROM, and don't worry about the connections - I've already done something cute to them. Look a few pages back - you'll see ECRUTEAK's screens. BUt as for HO-OH, it may or may not be catchable in ECRUTEAK CITY... I was actually plannin on moving that event somewhere else ;) adn as for ECRUTEAK CITY, you'll have to wait and see if it's in the final version or not :P

btw, and comments on the Demo release? Anyone?

Tis hack is looking really awesome and the screenshots are really great!I have the demo (haven't played it yet :embarrass ) and i bet it's going to be as amazingly awesome as your screenies. Keep up the great work and i hope to see more soon! :)

MC50 April 5th, 2007 10:42 AM

I've played up until the first gym. Not really much to say, like you said you should change the trainers, what they say and their levels but you said you'd get around to that anyway.

Maybe a bit more variety in the wild pokemon would be nice too.

In the Mt. Moon replacement, the stairs guarded by two rockets... if after you beat them you went back down the stairs you could get stuck for good. Or, if you just walked in front of them and made them not move.

There are a good number of buggy things, too, like how your rival sometimes says what Gary would have said.

I might have missed some cool features and such, like I said I'm only at the first gym.

Oh, the rockets....

*checks the game*

Yes, I'm still implementing the script for them...When I release a refresh, they'll be doing something else.

You mention "buggy" things (trainers' speeches, etc I do not count as bugs)...please be more specific in what you're trying to point out - otherwise, I'll never be able to fix any of it.
Please continue to post about more bugs and faults here.

But, as I said, I'm still in the process of correcting all those minor things. As for wild pokémon...that'll be improved as the game progresses.

Thanks :)

This looks really good. Two things, I'm not exactly sure what this is but I have heard of people talking about "rom expantions". Maybe that could help with jhoto. Also where does the current version end?

A ROM expansion is basically going to offset 00FFFFFF in the ROM and adding a whole lot more FF's after that...But then all the pointers must be referrer to as 09 afterward, becuase you've went over the 00FFFFFF offset into the 01000000 offset - which implies a new memory space and all that gunk. Kinda troublesome to do, and anyways, then I can't make an IPS patch, since IPS only reads data up to (and including, I think) offset 00FFFFFF. All data beyond that is automatically trunkated by the patch making program (LIPS or ipsXP regareless...).

As for the demo's end...
Notice you can't go anywhere after you beat the Fourth Gym? And since you don't have 5th badge (never mind SURF), you can't cross that body of water at MIRES CITY...
Regard that as the demo's end. I forgot to put a nice little person saying so there somewhere after you get the 4th badge :P

Hey, I played the last release, and well, it was pretty good. Except for the fact that you really wanted to test my patience with so many jumps of levels in the trainers' pokemon XP
Seriously, there were a few times I struggled so much, I was thinking about stopping playing, but I continued, so I guess that must mean something.

All righty, well, I'll post a few stuff that has called my attention. I know, it's still early for some of them, so avoid replying about something you don't want to.

*At the beginning, a few people have their scripts as if I had pokemon (one wanted to trade at that Pass building, and there was the guy that wanted to teach me Dream Eater)
*Are you sure we will be able to walk through Route1 without pokemon? (MissingNo.'s and auto-fainiting there)
*I'm not sure, but, was I supposed to battle against Jessie? (just asking... There was no battle)
*You have some problems at Varis City, like, there's a kid running "in its place" that wanted to take me somewhere, he went, but I stayed... :P Also, there's a girl dressed in girl, and a girl outside the Gym without scripts assigned to them.
*Hmmm... Just a comment. An icy Gym for a Fire-Type user?
*Did you try to edit the Varis' Gym Leader's pokes? (I saw Magmar using Egg Bomb), don't forget, it's always the next attack to the one you want the poke to use
*And finally, it was weird the battle against Vito... A Leader with a MissingNo. wow, what an easy Gym Battle! XD

That's all I can say about the hack. I'm not much into graphical details. But, it was a nice hack (out of a little frustration and some surprises a few times)

Keep it up, man!

Okay...The two girls: no events implemented yet. As for the boy: where exactly is he? Is he that one that's suppoed to take you to the gym or is he the one that's supposed to take you to the museum (the museum one says "Have you gone for a walk?")

As for Vito...That's strange -- really strange. But I suppose it'll be like that because I blacked out so many of the maps in AM, that it could have overwritten some vital data (I know that it probably did, since it screwed up some tiles) - not to worry, if it did, I could probably easily recover and repooint it.

No battle against Jesse - just a dialogue. And it is possible to go through Route 1 without walking into the grass, just watch the open patches carefully.

The trade girl and Dream Eater tutor are actually supposed to be where they are still, but I will most probably move them in the near future.

As for the GYM LEADER's Pokémon movesets, some movesets (in later dev demo's too) will seem strange, but that EGG BOMB by MAGMAR was really unforseen... Thanks for telling me about that attack thing (about it being one attack after) - I never knew about that.

The GYM decoration is supposed to be decieving to the player :P It makes playing more fun and interesting, and there's more surprise.

As for the trainer levels: I released the Dev Demo in a bit of a rush, so I didn't really get the time to edit the levels of the trainers and their Pokémon. In later demo's and in the final, their levels -will- be different - that'a a promise.

Some of the electric switches -are- supposed to be found on the floor...I found the switches being in the bins a little too monotonous.

~~~
On a lighter note...
I may release Pokémon Yttrium 89 (STABLE) in two flavours: One will have JOHTO and HEXVI in it, and the other ESTER and HEXVI. You'll need one to complete the other and vice versa. Since so many people have asked and voted that JOHTO should go in (it seemed such a sin not to).
Does anyone have any opinions on this? Let's here them here.
Erimgard April 15th, 2007 5:17 AM
just downloaded it, don't have time to play it now, but at the start, it still says 'pokemon fire red' but I'm sure you're working on a new title screen. and also, when you go to the computer in your room it says "-insert name- played with the NES" even though it's a computer, not a video game console...unless our hero plays ROMs :D
Also, in regards to the two separate versions idea, I personally would prefer just one. include the two regions, and maybe a town or two of Johto and that would be enough to keep just about all your fans satisfied
Charizard_Ruler April 15th, 2007 5:25 AM
Looking like a cool hack from here. Not sure on what to say, but I'm sure you'll do a good job on the hack.
Erimgard April 15th, 2007 10:34 AM
been playing it for 15 minutes or so, the only problem I see is a lot of the text in the start of the game needs to be changed. they still make references to Prof. Oak and Pallet town and such. and yeah, the whole 'being able to get attacked by a pokemon before you get your first pokemon' thing is a little odd, but it's looking like a great hack so for, keep it up :)
Lt. Surge's Raichu April 15th, 2007 2:08 PM
I like the hack very much :)
Keep up the good work :)
Erimgard April 16th, 2007 11:50 AM
gah! tried to post this once and my computer went psycho..hopefully I didn't forget anything the second time aroud...
okay, found some more text and physical problems to fix. I'm not trying to be critical, I realize this is just the first demo release, so please don't think that I'm trying to make you look dumb or anything. just want to help you out and see this hack succeed.
The sign outside of Aquavaris falls still says " Diglet's cave "
Their is a kid in Varis who gives you the message about Brock and then drops you off in the middle of the forest so you can't move....
Leigh refers to her badge several times as the 'sezualbadge' with a 'z' where there should be an 'x'
On route 3, after the fist clump of 6 trainers, there is a girl trainer a little further on. Starting with 3 spaces to her left and ending right in front of her, there is an invisible wall.
On route 4 there is a trainer who is impressed with your sexualbadge...even if you don't have it yet.
Mires city has a sign outside it that says 'rock tunnel detour to lavendar town'
And also when you go to save the game, it says you are on route 10 instead of in Mires city. it also says it at the top of the screen when you enter the city
that's all for now.
Hiya...
I see that you're a very thorough player and I appreciate that - thanks.
Ok. Like I said, text I don't actually count as bugs, since I've already modified almost all of the things regarding text. But, that guy in Varis City that drops you off in the middle of the forst and just leaves you there... I must query as to how you managed to produce such a glitch, since I'd moved the original triggers that started that event up. I moved him next to the shop, so did you by any chance speak to him? Or was he standing in his original position (i.e. as you come into the city)?
With regards to the SEXUALEBADGE and some trainers, etc - I'm busy fixing that up too as I go along.
The 'invisible wall' has been fixed up already.
And as for the ROUTE 10/MIRES CITY problem, the part that is ROUTE 10 is supposed to be like that. It's name will later be changed, but that ROUTE 10 area is actually not part of MIRES CITY itself - it's on the outskirts, hence me leaving the name like that.
As for ROUTE 1, I willl again say that it is possible to get from AQUA CITY via ROUTE 1 to CAPE TOWN without being attacked by wild pokémon - just follow the naked spots in the grass carefully. This is possible to do. See it as the first puzzle in the game - there'll be a lot more.
Well with all that answered, I'm out for the evening.
If anyone finds more errorsand bugs, (please, I do not consider unfixed text a bug) post them here and I'll see to them as fast as I can so I can get another Dev Demo up for you kiddies.
Erimgard April 16th, 2007 12:57 PM
yeah I talked to him. he didn't just kidnap me and drop me off :P
thanks for listening and for all your hard work. I'll play the game some more later tonight and tell you if I come up with anything.
EDIT:
Southern half of Mires City. right outside the Pokemon Center is a man who tells you about ghosts. after talking to him I could no longer move. when I pressed the directional buttons, the screen moved, but my character remained stationary. I reset and talked to him again and it didn't do it...so not really sure what's up. I will probably be updating this post tonight as a play and find new things to report.
In the northern half of Mires City, there is a building you can't enter. It's the one on the right near the bottom. it has a big pool of water outside it, and it's the farthest south house that has a door, but the door does not open or give a message about needing a key...is this intentional?
The entire fight with Ladonna is messed up. When you talk to her, it's like a few lines are skipped or something because it makes no sense:
Ben: Are you Ladonna by any chance?
Ladonna: Oh hi! Yes, I am, and you're Ben, the trainer
Ben: Yes, and I'm going to do the same to you!
...something's missing?
and then when the fight begins...
The sprite changes to a man named 'Trainer H30'
who has no pokemon. so you beat his level 0 ?? and get one experience point...not quite what I expected :P
In the Delta City gym, one of the sprites is messed up. Instead of a 'beauty' it's a cuttable bush that challenges you to a fight. also the trainer then says 'we only use ground type here' by they all use grass type.
After defeating the third trainer in the delta city gym, I saved the game, and then realized that it was doing the same thing as the man in southern mires...my character is now permanently frozen. the screen moves but he does not.
Thus ends my beta testing :P
Good luck, and keep up the good work :)
Hiya
Okay... With regards to the house with the locked door: You will come across houses in the game whose doors are locked and have no message to say that they're locked for some reason. During the Dev Demo's, this means only that I haven't implemented an event for those yet. In the final release, the remainder will be replaced by an "It's locked.." notice.
Regarding the Beauty that's a Bush - excuse the pun - that's intentional. You'll come across many strange things regarding trainers and their sprites/battle pics even later on in the game. Even in another particular GYM...
As for the case where your character freezes, the Ladonna battle/trainername/spritepic/text, I've come to the conclusion that it's AdvanceMap's fault. Open the ROM in AdvanceMap and count the number of maps that I blacked out - it may explain something. AdvanceMap does have a nasty tendency of overwriting vital data - it did that to my evolution data at a point in time, but I luckily had a backup of the ROM that was not corrupted. *checks ROM* Yup. Confirmed. AdvanceMap misplaced ALL Misty and Lt. Surge's trainer data, but that should be easy enough to recover again. No biggie. Thanks for your watchful eye while playing and your support is greatly appreciated. Remember to look out for the next Dev Demo release somewhere in June, maybe. To my current beta tester, you know who you are, I'll send you a patch as soon as I'm done with all this work, work, work that these lecturers are piling on me.
Ah... the sprite possession bug... Yeah... I found it too, but since I knew how to fix that, then I forgot about it. Basically IIIMQIII, you should keep in mind to do a deep search through your sprites and change all the sprites with the "Move Down" movement type to "No Movement" (which has the same result), this will fix your possession problems, and you'll avoid them in the future.
Okay...Let's handle Zel first:
@ Zel: Thanks for telling me about that. I'll do that from now on, but it puzzles me as to why and how that happens...Maybe it's AM? Co if it is, I'll not be surprised. Btw, does your AM also mess up if you add more maps, coz if I do, it comes up with a "Connections" window that shows there's data that needs to be repointed and when I repoint that data, it erases the bank where all my new maps are stored in. Would you know what's going on, Zel?
Now for Erimgard:
@ Erimgard: Lol! I didn't have time to do anything new yet, since the university's keeping up all busy with various tests, tutorials and the eminent threat of mid-year exams coming up (and I still don't know my way around Complex numbers and the Binomial Theorem too well...)
To everyone: Not to worry, I'll try to begin working on the hack again as soon as I get the chance to and release more screens.
~Later
I'll be patiently waiting for the new screenis, good luck!
I think AdvMap has a few problems, but seeing as it is the best tool...
And, I had a similar problem... Usually happens if you constantly add new maps, which forces to repoint the map bank offset. So, next time, make a backup, insert your map, but start to use the amount of reserved maps value, give it a high (reasonable) value. That way, you'd need to repoint the map bank only once. After that, the next maps you just need to use the Existing Spot option, and use your reserved slots, which prevents touching the map bank (and you only need the space for the inserted map). When all the slots had been used, make another backup and repeat.
That's all I do about it. I've been sucessful, so far...
Well, good luck with the hack. I'm not a fan bar maker, so... Guess you need to wait till a fan shows up and makes you one. XP
Thanks for that advice - I'll try it out on another copy of the ROM.
As for the two flavours that I intend to release Yttrium 89 (STABLE) as, are there any more comments from you guys on this?
Erimgard May 2nd, 2007 11:21 AM
As I said before, I think the two flavors idea is a bad idea...just go with Hexvi, Ester, and if you can fit it, one or two towns of johto to spice things up a bit
keep up the good work
Hiya all...
Yup, this thing's back on track. Due to much work and tests and assignments and exams and ... and a reboot of the hack, I'm ready to get this whole thing back on track. Dont't worry about "messy" screens (please tell me which) and about Johto, as this will all change.
Johot may still be in the hack, but only one or two towns (I'll see about the space).
Many areas have now been -totally- remodelled, and some events have changed too. But, for now, here's some screens to keep y'all happy :)
The order goes: Old .... New
Cape Town:
http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q237/IIIMQIII/OldCapeTown1.png http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q237/IIIMQIII/NewCapeTown2.png <- I'm aware of the girl that's in the rather strange place here!
Nero Island:
"Route 3", North Varis City:
PipeMan July 29th, 2007 2:30 PM
Interesting story, nice maps and three regions. This is definently a hack i'm going to watch :D.
cooley July 29th, 2007 6:15 PM
I like the whole story and the brendan character.
Erimgard July 30th, 2007 6:51 AM
good stuff liking the screens.
one thing I would suggest is that you pay close attention to the levels of the wild pokemon...if I recall correctly, when I played this, I almost got killed by some wild pokemon in their upper teens on the way to one of the towns, and then the route after that all the pokemon were like level 7.
that said, the first beta was pretty darn good and original, and I hope to see more like it
zel 2.0 August 1st, 2007 10:49 AM
Well, everything's looking fine on this reboot (just look at the first "new" screenshot, you used a wrong tree tile there. That's the only thing I found wrong about all the pics)
Good luck, hope you can manage to deal with your time to work on it. It's one of the projects that I most liked its beta, so keep up that way, and you'll be sucessful.
Elxir August 9th, 2007 5:42 AM
Nice Hack can't wait till the release.And great screenies.
yoshikiller995 August 9th, 2007 9:55 AM
Looking forward to the beta, it looks like it will be a lot of fun.
