I don't have KH. But hey, what's an RPG maker anyway?

Zelos April 29th, 2006 4:34 AM

It's a program that allows people to design their own RPG's...then play them, supposedly.(That's what I think it is XD)

Oy. That is cool. What do yoiu mean your not smart enough to do it or something? Is it complicated?

Ryoutarou April 29th, 2006 4:54 AM

Easy once you get the hang of it.

And how do you not get what an RPG Maker is? The title itself tells you.

Munashii April 29th, 2006 5:00 AM

I still don't know whether the RPG maker is on the internet of is something you put on a CD-ROM or etc. Of course I get the main idea of what it is, but 'what' as in 'is it a CD-ROM "game", a internet thing, or perhaps something else'?

Dawg 2005 April 29th, 2006 6:20 AM

I think it's something you have to buy, but hey I wouldn't know. XD

Definetly, being surrounded by 100 men while RPGing a clock tower has never been so tasty. xD

Kimicatdemon April 29th, 2006 10:44 AM

...Shooting games always keeping me up at night.....I'm serious, my brother keeps the volume up so loud, you could swear a real shot was made....

Naminé April 29th, 2006 10:49 AM

Naminé loves RPG games, as it is one of the rare genre of games that she enjoy. A good RPG game lets one to have its strategic moments where a player must plan out a method or work up the skills available to defeat a certain enemy. A RPG must also contain a good plotline so Naminé feels that there is a reason in why her characters are doing what they are assigned by the game to do. It also gives Naminé something to think about. A RPG is like in interactive "book" where Naminé can role play as one or more characters within the "book," as if Naminé is a character within the "book" itself. It can also bring forth a sense of enjoyment and satisfaction if Naminé managed to think hard enough and figure out a problem to a boss battle or a difficult puzzle within the game, as it gives her a fake sense of intelligence that she never possessed~

First person shooter is a type of game that she will never play in her life. The idea of satisfaction from practicing total destruction against something else for most of the time, almost no reason, does not appeal Naminé at all. Though, she knows that a lot of people finds it to be a great stress relief, or the sense of excitement from getting out of a tense situation being surrounded by enemies is simply fascinating~

Yet, first person shooter is not Naminé's choice of tea~

I've always liked RPGs better than anything other genre of gaming. Mainly I just like watching the story play out and being able to effect what happens in it to some degree. They usually have better graphics than most other games and much better scores than basically any other type of game out on the market. A lot of work goes into most RPGs and it shows in most of them. I also like the "book" aspect of it, being able to play the part of a central character is always fun.

The rating aspect is not always true if Naminé remembers correctly. The Top 50 Games of All Time List for Japan was dominated by RPG games, yet many North Americans frown at the "ignorance" of the list how "World of Warcraft" "Doom series" and the likes were absent. Naminé thinks that game preference maybe influenced by japanese culture.

For example, Naminé hasn't find a RPG fan who hates anime or manga. At most, they are rather neutral against such entertainment. They may not excessively watch it as a series or download it, but they won't mind watching it if they see it as available when they have time. On the other hand, she haven't find an obsessive anime fan who hates RPG and prefers First Person Shooter type of games either. It confuses Naminé a bit why the majority follows this trend, as if RPG is part of the japanese culture along with anime and manga. She suppose that it maybe true, as almost all RPG games are from japanese game developers.

It generally is, RPGs, or at least the aspects that are most popular in them originated in Japan and then caught on in America and other countries. The Japanese usually aren't into big flashy games, they like slower paced stories that a person can really immerse themselves in.

Probably because it's easier to link certain aspects of the together. RPGs and anime/manga tend to have a lot in common, story-wise at least. If one draws a certain amount of people, the other is sure to draw the same amount.

Jack O'Neill April 29th, 2006 12:21 PM

Naminé: I'm an anime/manga fan who favors first-person shooters over role-playing games. I play the occasional Diablo II and Neverwinter Nights here and there, but I'd rather be playing Battlefield 1942 or Call of Duty.

A viable RPG/FPS combo. That's what Kingdom Hearts would've been if Square Enix had collaborated with, say, Bungie or Valve instead of Disney.

Klonoa April 29th, 2006 1:02 PM

Kingdom Hearts would of sucked if it were vavle, or bungie instead of disney.
