My Nintendo handhelds stolen >.<
About 2 weeks ago I had sport (at school) and we got the option of leaving our valuables in a box that is kept in the teachers office. So I decided to leave my GBA Sp nd MY DS along with all my games there with some other peoples items.
After the sports class had ended I helped the teachers pack the equipement away. I went to get my handhelds when i discovered someone stole them! >.< I was so furious and becasue my school has the "you bring your possesions at your own risk" policy, I couldn't really do anything about it. That was over $300 worth of stuff there all gone. Anyone else had their handhelds or anything else expensive stolen like this at school? (Just thought I'd get this of my back, lol.) |
Quote:
But no, I've never had anything like that stolen. |
That sucks. Hope you find the theif.
Never happened to me before, we're no allowed to bring electronic stuff to school(CD Players, MP3, Games, etc.). So, i've never had anything that important stolen. |
Since this ends in a question, I feel this would fit better in OVP. If Sammi disagrees, she can move it back here though. XD;
*moves* Oh, and stuff gets stolen at my school all the time. Usually it's just money though. A lot of people have learned the hard way to not leave things out in the open in the gym locker rooms, including myself. I've had so much of my lunch money stolen from my backpack. <<; But I've never left anything really valuable out in the open, so nothing like that's ever been stolen from me. |
I had 2 Pokemon games stolen, one of which was totally complete with all 150 obtainable Pokemon without cheating and just trading.
Ofcourse this was years ago, and it was my Pokemon Yellow and Pokemon Blue that got stolen, on the same day that I got Pokemon Trading Card Game too ><;..it was at this school fair thing I went to. And Pokemon Yellow was the completed version. |
Ashley -- No, it's a nice poll. <3 However, at first, I was confused. I was thinking it was a video game poll. XD;
I've been lucky enough not to have my expensive stuff stolen. The only thing expensive I bring to school is my SP (my CD player is a piece of crap, so I don't see it as really expensive). It's in my purse, which no one touches ^^; |
Yes, actually +cries+ I'm sorry to hear this ;_;
Well... I was quite fond of my games when I still used my GBC... and my brother broke the battery hatch on his, so he took mine, and he took one of my games... and left it outside of his bag. Doesn't take a genius to guess what happened ^^; we got it back from the thief's brother, who found it, the next day, though... but I cried XD he lost his GBC for a day and I lost my game. >.<; |

I had my PSP stolen from me in P.E. T.T
Good thing was i found out who did it and he had to buy me a new one because he smashed my other one :D Got a Giga Pack from him aswell lol. |
I never gotten a game stolen from me before.:D
:t003:Dark Venusaur |
No one ever touches my stuff, so this has never happened to me. Since I am always wearing all black, a lot of little kids are scared of me and everyone older than me won't take anything from me because of my name. (My real name is Will Smith. No joke. Everyone in 9th grade and above just happens to know me even though I have no clue who they are.)

I feel your pain so much. I lost my iPod a few months ago to some really annoying grit that I'm not going to waste my time ranting about. We all know that he has it, but the school's not doing a thing about it because of the stupid "You're responsible for bringing those things to school" bullcrap. While I admit that there is truth to that, there is no reason whatsoever that they can use that as an excuse for not trying to stop this kid. It doesn't matter what the kid stole, what matters is that there is freaking THIEVERY going on in the school, and it's the teachers' responsibility to discipline the children! They're basically taking the easy way out, because they don't want to take the time to crack down on these people. It's exactly the same as the rule at my school that, if you're in a fight, it doesn't matter who started it, you both get suspended. It's lazy because they don't want to take the time to find out who started the fight. And so we have people just letting other people beat the hell out of them just because they can't afford to be suspended! And in your case they have NO EXCUSE WHATSOEVER to pull that crap on you, because the moment you gave the electronics to look after them, they were their responsibility to look after them. If they didn't want you bringing valuables to school in the first place, why the hell would they offer to look after them for you?! My god. I'm starting to hate the public school system. Anyway, I'm assuming that you don't know who took them. You could probably ask around; it worked for me. I can't suggest how you would go about getting them back, but I know that at my school if someone is caught with over $100 worth of stolen property on school ground they can be suspended/expelled. I'd be pissed if this happened to me as well, and liek I've said, I've been in similar situations before. I know how much this sucks. :( I couldn't get my iPod back, but I did break into the guy's locker and steal all of his textbooks and rip them up. That would probably equal the approximate cost of my iPod for replacement. I know it wasn't the right thing to do, but it made me feel better. |
I've never had anything stolen from me before, but that must be really annoying for you, If anything like that happened to me i'd go mad because of how much I spent of my own earned money for something and someone who can't be bothered to get up and earn goes and steals other peoples property.
Chiru has a very good point in there, As soon as you give them your posessions, it is then passed to their responsibility to look after them for you. I daren't give anyone my stuff to look after since I know they wouldn't be able to look after them the way I do, So I either leave my most adored posessions at home on P.E days followed by other property I bring in that is worth quite alot. I hope you manage to find out who stole your handhelds, as they are worthless nobodies that can't even be bothered to buy their own stuff, If you do find out who is was and you are certain, contact the deputy/ headteacher or anyone else important at your school to notify that you have found the person that done it. If they don't do anything, then, the teachers obviously don't care about theivery going round the school. I write too much XD |
I had my cell phone stolen two weeks ago. I just whited out and started attacking the closet person near me... Guess what? It was the right person too. I got suspended for 5 days. But, I got my phone back! You need to find this person and beat him/her to dirt.
|
personally i've only heard of incidents actually. Let's see...one kid got i think 20-50 dollars stolen from his backpack...another got their iPod stolen from his...
you, i'm really halfway wanting to pity you and halfway wanting to scold you for your stupidity The following is assuming you're in high school 1. I really don't know why you would bring both your GBA AND your DS, but in case you didn't know yet, that slot at the bottom of your DS is to insert your GB/GBC/GBA games on your DS. 2. I really don't know why you bring ALL your games either. Really, at most just bring one or 2 >> 3. I really don't know why you would bring games to school in general...Just because you're bored doesn't mean you can just whip out your GBA/DS in the middle of a speech and start playing. Lunch, maybe an exception, but still, unless you're getting a tiny lunch or not at all, most of that period would be spent eating, or talking with friends. As for the bus, it really shouldn't take that long anyways. Either way if it's a team or class you should be able to track them down. Really if you asked your teacher about it, he/she'd probably go ask the class/team the next day. Now, i would go ask the teacher about it, but now that's it's been 2 weeks, he/she might not remember who took it, or really ask the class...i would take my chances, unless they're a real (insert swear word that would be used here). When the guy's iPod was stolen (above) the teacher made us stay in class until the guy who took it admitted it. 1st, it's school...KEEP IT IN YOUR BACK PACK 2nd, Never do it if your stuff's getting mixed with others 3rd, even so if it's not school, then it's probably a team thing, keep it in your bag #2: Good steps to retrive your item As for this excuse thing, in general it's kinda stupid to leave your hands in someone else's hands anyway. By your scenario, it seems more like you're trying to take the easy way out by relying on the school to do their work for you. Here's what i would do... 1. Ask around. there's probably someone who saw it, if not, then it's still one class/team, so you vaguely be able to pin out. Simply put, ask around, if they start getting emotional, that's probably the one you're looking for. (Note: If the guy gives it back, then you can stop here) 2. You should be able to find out where he/she lives (You could Yahoo! it too). 3. Find him (rather specifically his/her parents). 4. Ask them if their child recently acquired a (Whatever it is). 5. Tell them that they stole it. i'm sure that would get them into trouble, but sadly, that'd get you marked for life -_-. Obviously there could be some problems with this, but that's my general pattern because i'm good at tracking people down, have a mini-delivery service so meh. Kinda sorry bout this huge post, lately in speech we've been talking about sheer stupidity of some people, so if this really insults you...well, admittingly, it was half meant to, the post made it's point. I guess i'll leave you with good luck about finding your GBA, DS, and Games. |
Well That Is Just Stupid Of The Person, I Say Stalk Everyone In Your Shcool. Lol.
This Is A Wierd Circulating Story: My Friends Older Sister Had A Charizard Pokemon Card And Brought It To School (The Times Where People Loved The TCG And Charizard Was A Very Rare Card.) She Lost It In Lunch And 2 Years Later Me And My Other Friend Were Looking Through Our Old Pokemon Cards And I Saw A Charizard So I Asked Her How She Got It And She Said She Found It In The Lunch Room In School. Then I Told The Girl Where It Was And She Swore Vendeta On Her Lol. Somehow My Friend And I Traded Cards And Now I Have It. Wierd.... |
If your school has such vast amounts of down time between classes that you can play handhelds/listen to music or if your teachers care so little about teaching that they'll let you do any of the above activities mentioned in this thread during class than you absolutely need to find a new school, as you're not getting a worthwhile education at the one you're at.
I've never had anything stolen from me because I've made a conscious effort to protect anything valuable to me. I'm not going to let my guard down in the interest of assuming the best of others around me. Tbone, a bit of grammatical advice: you don't put a capitalize every_single_word. Only the beginning word of each sentence in addition to proper nouns. |

I managed to get a meeting with the principal. I told him what happened and all i got was "you brought them at your own risk, we can not and will not do anything about it". When i heard him say "we will not do anything about it" I think i went red in the face with anger or something because my whole body was hot from rage. I managed to keep my cool and thanked him for his time (i wanted to punch him in the face xD). Well, since my GB colour wasn't stolen, ill just be playing my GB/GB colour games on that and since the DS can play Advance games as well, ill just get a DS insead of buying a GB Advance as well. I'm also annoyed becasue I have to get my self sapphire/ruby again and red/green version (not to mention starting all over again) and all my other games such as Pokemon Dash and etc. Oh well, what can ya do :D |
Erm, sorry, but I'm going to have to say the following: A teacher/faculty member's responsibility is mainly to see to it that a child receives a good education in a safe environment. Although, sure, they could take the measures to help a child keep their valuable safe and to find out who took your belongings, they're not paid to actually act as guards.
Now, to add, a student has the option of not bringing their valuables in, right? So basically, it's up to a student's own common sense and judgment to bring something of value in and keep it in a place where anyone can get it (i.e. the communal object box, which can be picked apart as soon as the teacher puts it out). So, really, you probably should've left those things at home. What were you going to do with them at school, anyway, when you should be paying attention to what's being taught to you? With that in mind, all I can say is life has ways of teaching people lessons. *shrug* That said, the most I got stolen from me were two wallets, in which I kept a couple of dollars and some change for lunch. In both cases, I had the wallet in my backpack, buried under several layers of personal products that I'd rather not mention here (although I'm sure the females of the crowd know what I'm talking about). One was never returned to me, and the other was returned almost immediately. I don't regret the loss of the first one because I know it was my fault for not taking better care of my things, and the second was easily forgiven because it came with an apology. Needless to say, though, I usually leave my wallet at home nowadays, except in times when I need my license for some form of ID (or driving, obviously). |
One of my cousins brought his GBC to school and it got stolen by one of his classmates, but a DS and an SP, pretty valuble stuff there.
|
No. I don't take expensive stuff to school. The only things I've ever lost at school are my notes, and textbooks.
|
I didn't lose anything at school but I lost my GBA SP in China. I was visiting my relatives and one day, it just disappeared...
|

some dude stole a 2p from me once, but I really couldn't care less about that, and my school doesn't let you bring stuff in so we all do XD |
When i was in 8th grade (Feb.2002) someone stole me pokemon yellow, gold and silver and link cable. Plus the batteries in my GBA....
But why didnt they take the GBA or my other games??? Ever since then, I kept a master lock on my backpack |
I have had no cartridges stolen before, owing to the fact that nobody wants to so much as touch them either for fear of guilt or because they have it already. The possible exception may be when I left it at a friend's house one time and they used it, filling up my Pokédex and trading my Ho-oh to a friend of theirs (it cost me a Moltres to get it back).
|
Well, I'm home schooled, so any thing stolen at "school" would be stolen from my house.
Not to long ago some jerk stole my bike. It was right next to the house and a few feet from my front door. Our door was open (we like to leave it open on week ends) and we have a glass door (basicly like a screen door but glass). And some one stole my bike, in the middle of the day, with our front door open while we (we as in my family) were home!! The nerv of some people. . .:'( |
well thats not cool
so what do we vote on? |
My school doesn't allow you to bring any games. Music isn't accepted, either, but most teachers let you listen if you can do your work at the same time. As for me, I had my GBA stolen a few years back...The good thing was that it broke earlier that day when someone kicked where I put it. And I had a spare at home.
Plus, the person who took it gave me $20 if I wouldn't tell anyone. ^_^ |

I don't think I've ever had anything stolen from me at all. I'm lucky, I guess. *shrug* |
I'm only allowed to bring a cellphone to school, and no, I never got stolen in my 15-year-old life. You have to admit going to school with a GBASP and a DS, and leaving them in an open box was just plain stupid. Anyway, I suggest ya tell the principal someone stole you. Remember, your school actually had the responsability of making sure noone stole you. If the principal does nothing at all, well, tell a teacher or the police about it. No one steals something without punishment!
|
Quote:
But then, looking at the principal's responce to that makes me kinda mad that they would just blow it off like it was nothing. Did you talk to the guy that was supposed to be watching the stuff yet? |

Like a few others, I share less pity due to the utter stupidity. >> Seriously, I brought my GBC to school a fair few times for a few reasons: 1) Lunch 2) Trading 3) I brought my Legendary Super Warriors game in so my friend could help me get somewhere. Something stolen... Not from school as such. I got a Pocket Pikachu Colour (Didn't keep it for very long. :( ) and when we went to Queensland it may have been stolen. That's what's assumed. I haven't seen it for years. Same might have happened to TCG but I got another copy. |
It was stupid of me to take both my handhelds and their games to school. You always think to yourself, "nah this will never happen to me" and then when it does your screwed. I'v learned my lesson the hard way and I'm definately not going to be taking any more expensive things to school again.
|
That really sucks. :( I totally agree that if they offered the service to keep your valuables in a safe place, it is their responsibility to look after them and not yours. You're taking the initiative to put them where you expect them to be safe; it's not your fault if they go missing. >_<
I've never had anything of mine stolen, thank goodness, but my aunt had her house broken into twice :( They took her credit card but luckily didn't get any of her money because the bank was very suspicious. |
In my school electronic stuff is banned so my stuff has never been sold.
|
That sucks real bad. Especialy as you gave the things to the teacher for safekeeping
|
Well when I was 12 (10 years ago) I had both my old brick like Gameboys and GBC (when it first came out) stolen and also my old school had a "bring stuff at your own risk" attitude (sp). I still don't know who stole considering that the grammer school that i went to nearly had 1000 pupils.

I have never had anything stolen from me but then again I never take anything expensive to school although I have taken my DS to school but only once and it was because we had finals and my elective class has no final so it's just kick back time for two hours. My friend however had his iPod stolen from him but I found out who stole it through other people and I got it back for him.
|
i had something similar happen...
My uncle Jake put a backlight in my old GBA (not SP, original model GBA). I was playing my DS, and let Ablovi (a girl on my bus) play my GBA. I forget about it, and ask her for it back on my bus the next day. She says Efren, a kid in my 4th period class, took it. Efren says he has nothing to do with it. So Ablovi says Efren took it, Efren says he never even got it. No clue who actually took it, but I've tried and tried and have yet to get it back from either of them.... I've all but given up. :( |

I've brought expensive electronic equipment to class (my iPod mini, my mobile, and my PDA), but thankfully, nothing has been stolen. I think I'll only bring my mobile from now on, though.
|
Aww. Sorry to hear that.
I got a headband stolen from me once... xD but finally she admitted it but I never got it back. |D;;; |
I had my gameboy color, cell phone, pencil, and jeans stolen all at once one time... (I was in Gym and an 8th grader snuck into our locker room and stole my stuff...)
|
Someone stole my PSP from me; a friend that hasn't been to my house since. I ended up getting it back from him though. It was kind of obvious when he didn't come back for a while and wouldn't call or talk to me.
|
well,
ive had some of the MOST RAREST POKEMON CARDS stolen from me:'( , how i curse them all! and i even know, WHO stole WHAT, but theyll never admit or give 'em back if i ask!:knockedou :disappoin pfff...hundreds of bucks gone to a waste!!!!!!:knockedou :( |
Luckily I have had nothing stolen except 30 shiney Yu - gi - oh cards when I was 8 >_> and it was out of 8 people.
|
No, I havn't had anything stolen from me at school because my mum wouldn't let me bring them I guess she's right...
