Pikachu's Goodbye

Okay...
This question popped up today during a conversation with a friend of mine.
They brought up the older Pokemon episodes, and told me that they recently watched Pikachu's Goodbye and cried...

(On to the question!) So its obvious this episode is old, and even though it originally aired 8 years ago, do you still get emotional while watching it?

Or if you haven't seen it in years, DID you get emotional the last time you saw it?

My answer; Yes it does make me sad, but I can't say that it actually makes me break down and cry... ^^;

Lkr721993 May 22nd, 2006 5:13 PM

:'( this episode is sooooo sad. I cried the first time I watch it and still do. Same with Bye, Bye, Butterfree :(

Taemin May 22nd, 2006 5:28 PM

I know! Poor Ash and Pikachu... T-T

Yeah... the Butterfree episode was sad too. x__x ;-;
But at the same time I was happy that it found a mate.

Squeegee Beckenheim May 22nd, 2006 5:44 PM

The first time I watch them, I got kinda teary eyed. Now I just don't care too much because I have seen it too many times.

Tetsu May 22nd, 2006 5:48 PM

Not to be cruel, but I actually laughed. I knew he wasn't going anywhere. The show is centered around him. Its' practically called 'Pikachu'. Without him there was no show.

It's a sad episode but it's nothing I would cry about. The only one I came close to onsidering getting all emotional was when Butterfree left.

Ho-Oh May 23rd, 2006 1:28 AM

When i saw that i didn't really think and i had no feelings towards it but i sure didn't cry.

Astinus May 23rd, 2006 12:35 PM

I cried when Butterfree left. ;;

Pikachu, though? Dubbed, no. The original Japanese song? Yes. It's truly beautiful.

I was like how old? 6? 7? Well for both Pikachu's goodbye and Bye bye Butterfree I cried T_T and my brother would just be watching with me and I'd start crying and I would run upstairs and cry in the little corner and miss the rest of the episode and the pokerap and ending and my brother would come up and blah blah blah

i haven't watched it since..

it was the song that really saddened me.. 'somehow someplace, you have to say, goodbye..'

Awww that episode brings back memories...My mom LOVED that episode, and I always explained what was happening with all the Pikachu...XD

Anyway, I wasn't exactly sad until Ash started tearing....I was like....heartless back then o_o I understood how Ash must've been but it wasn't that sad to me...Thinking back I guess the me right now would think totally differently though...^^;;;

Ahh I was just watching Bye Bye Butterfree last week T.T I knew what was gonna happen and I just wanted to cry....^^;;;

Neko_Haruko May 26th, 2006 8:26 PM

What was the original song for that episode? I have always wondered that. But yeah. This episode and Bye Butterfree made me cry. ;.;

Taemin May 27th, 2006 5:27 PM

You mean the Japanese song? I have no idea... ^^;
but the english song is 'The Time Has Come.'

Chesters_love May 29th, 2006 2:44 PM

Fresh May 31st, 2006 10:08 PM

yeah i felt sad...i was like that sucks

SamBee May 31st, 2006 11:47 PM

It's allways quite sad when ash leaves his pokémon, like when Squirtle goes off to join the Squirtle Squad again, it does those sad montage things. =| Oh bother. Ash's Butterfree was the best, I loved the sound it made =)

Sammi June 1st, 2006 6:10 AM

I was quite upset and emotional over it (I still get emotional when I see that picture of Ash and Pikachu ;; ), but I didn't cry. I don't think any TV show has made me cry.

It's one of the sadder episodes, I agree with that. I mean... they almost left each other... it was all so upsetting. ;____;

+Hidden~Luv+ June 2nd, 2006 1:53 PM

I cried as well when I saw the episode of Pikachu's Goodbye, it was so very sad!
Plus the Butterfree episode was sad, but I didnt cry when I saw that one. ^^;
Even when i do look back at those episodes, I still get the same reaction I had when I first saw it.

I remember that.... That also reminds me of that one episode in ...um.. Master Quest, I think it was... when Bulbasaur was with all those Pokemon, trying to make them stop their fighting or something... and then towards the end of the episode theres this boulder that falls towards them, and Bulbasaur ends up right in its path... and you see Bulbasaur looking all freaked out, and the shadow of the boulder covering it...

After that, all these memories of its time with Ash play through with this sad music, and it makes you think that Bulbasaur is going to be crushed by the boulder and killed.

That was horrible. I've never seen anything like that in Pokemon before... It literally makes you think that Bulbasaur is going to die.

I did get very sad when watching these episodes. I can't remember if I cried, though. I probably did.

Green Bulbasaur June 7th, 2006 2:00 PM

Yes, I did cry when I first saw this episode. It's still sad to me to this date.

Chuchan June 9th, 2006 8:11 AM

Pandoras Box June 9th, 2006 9:07 AM

~Strawberry Vulpix~ June 10th, 2006 11:08 AM

I cried...when pikachu looked like he was leaving...even though I knew he wouldn't...and then when he came back...I cry at a lot of pokemon 'moments' like when Ash let Butterfree go....and charizard....and basically all his pokemon he's left behind :"

I watched that episode after alot of other episodes of the first season, and since I saw that he had pikachu later, of course it didn't stay with the other pikachu.

I actually laughed when I watched it.

I hate how he gives away all his pokemon(Butterfree twice; he was about to let pikachu get away; primeape; squirtle; charizard; beedrill; pidgeot; haunter; He sent bulbasaur to prof. oak, just because he cant handle the pokemon(Why doesn't make Tracey sit out there all day and make sure they don't fight))...

Taemin June 10th, 2006 8:33 PM

XD HAHAHA!

Lol... wow. That....was horribly amusing to me for some reason. x3
I can picture Tracey sitting out there for hours, all bored, and pissed off....

But yeah... I dont like that he lets all his awesome Pokemon go either... I mean, who does that?! I've never released any of my Pokemon on my games (Well...that I cared about anyway... now one time I had Rattata doubles...but that doesn't count!)

I never really did see how he thought Pikachu would happier living in the wild... I mean, it'd get along okay...but theres more threats, and its obvious that the things happier with Ash... ASH not OTHER PIKACHU! ... ><;
