First off catching an off the bat Swellow=bad idea...You were better off catching a level 3 Taillow and raising it up. Meaning it can get more EXP.

Trained pokemon> Wild. Thats fact

Try:

Swellow
Nature: Jolly (speed is what this pokemon is about)

-Facade
-Aerial Ace
-Endeavor
-Steel Wing

Theres not much you can do with Swellow. (hes my favorite flying type) If hidden power was easy. I would suggest HP ground.

yeah i know i should have caught a lv. 3 taillow, but im training this particular swellow because its shiny...but yes ill use steel wing on it, but i already taught aerial ace to anorith

Quick Attack/Endeavor
Facade
Wing Attack/Aerial Ace
Steel Wing/Endeavor

Hasty nature isnt too bad i guess

Flamman July 11th, 2006 9:24 AM

it is, hasty is minus defence.

and it still can learn aerial ace, it learns areal ace through lvling, on lvl 38

We really need to dispell the myth about catching a high level Poke means that it will be weaker than one you catch later. That was the case in the older versions, but with EV training as it is now, it is preferrable to catch a higher level Poke since you won't ruin its EVs by random battling with it throughout the storyline. You can now pick and select your battles to increase the stats that you want to.

Flamman July 11th, 2006 9:40 AM

youre right, i personally prefer lower lvled ones, because i like to see them level fast, and monitor their growing and EV process, but higher ones are in fact better if you are keen on EV training earlier in the game.

i didnt know that swellow still learned aerial ace thru lvling...thankx 4 the tip, so i guess ill teach it aerial ace then

Flame Demon July 11th, 2006 10:10 AM

Go with Frost's suggestions and try to get Adamant or Jolly next time.

Hasty is fine. In fact, getting a Swellow with a nature that increases Speed and doesn’t decrease Attack is rather lucky.

Do use Endure/Substitute. It will guarantee you Liechi Berry’s activation and let you Endeavor easily.

Swellow @Liechi Berry
-Aerial Ace
-Return/Facade
-Endure/Substitute
-Endeavor

or you can get a Choice Band instead:

Swellow @Choice Band
-Aerial Ace
-Return
-Facade/Quick Attack
-Steel Wing

CB is better IMO because you're going to need a lot of Liechi Berries.

Pax Deorum July 11th, 2006 2:43 PM

Or just use the CB moveset without the CB as it's impossible to get early ingame unless you use codes

Not if you use Swellow in the Battle Frontier.
