salamence moveset ?

I currently have a level 87 salamamence.

Here are my moves

flamethrower
fireblast
hyper beam
dragon claw

should i keep these moves or do you guys have suggestions on other moves

shanecdavis July 30th, 2006 5:47 PM

First off, never put two attacking moves of the same type on the same Poke. It is redundant and limits the effectiveness of the Poke. There is no reason to have BOTH Fire Blast and Flamethrower on Salamence. Also, never use crappy two-turn moves like Hyper Beam. Keep in mind that in the two turns it takes to attack with a 150 AP Hyper Beam, you could have attacked TWICE with a 100 AP Earthquake.

As for a moveset for Salamence, there are two standard ones:

Salamence @ Choice Band
"CBmence"
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Brick Break/Aerial Ace
- Earthquake
- Fire Blast
- Rock Slide

Salamence @ Leftovers
"DDmence"
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Aerial Ace
- Dragon Dance
- Earthquake
- Fire Blast/Rock Slide

These are the two best options for Salamence. They take advantage of its speed and high attack. There are other sets, like Elemence and Mixmence, but they are just not as effective.

Disgusting Salamence. GO with shane's suggestions.

I guess Elemence would have Hydro Pump/Flamethrower/Dragon Claw/HP Special I guess.

MTGRSS_Trainer4 July 30th, 2006 5:56 PM

get rid of fire blast for aireal ace

shanecdavis July 30th, 2006 6:12 PM

Salamence @ Leftovers
"Elemence"
Modest Nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
- Crunch
- Dragon Claw
- Fire Blast
- Hydro Pump

Bad suggestion. Salamence needs Fire Blast more than Flamethrower. It also should NEVER use Hyper Beam. Total waste of a slot.

i was just on sites and i found my moves for my salamence

earthquake
flamethrower
arieal ace
dragon claw

Boarderla123 July 30th, 2006 6:20 PM

oo yea and also i would have to give it left overs it would a total kick *** salamence

shanecdavis July 30th, 2006 6:22 PM

That is Mixmence, and as I said before, it fails compared to the aforementioned sets. Especially with Flamethrower instead of Fire Blast. But if you want an inferior moveset than that is your choice.

MegaDitto July 30th, 2006 6:37 PM

My thoughts.

Dragon Dance
Earthquake
Dragon Claw
Chruch/Hydro Pump

No. I'm not a n00b in movesets. >_>

Then you should know better than to suggest Dragon Dance with only one physical move.

Actually BB is an option as Mence begs for a move with STAB.

You mean isn't an option?

DDMence is coolest IMO. After one DD it gets the strength CB offers and good Speed. If you need the EVs to EV train, here they are.

140 HP / 252 Atk / 116 Spd

or

196 HP / 252 Atk / 60 Spd

The 264 Speed in the first set is to outspeed Jolly Aero and Timid Jolteon after one DD. The second spread is better in-game IMO. Salamence with enough HP can surivive an attack from its counterpart Aerodactyl and sometimes even an Ice Beam, if he's lucky that is. Either spread is fine though.

Fire Blast btw is only if you hate Forry and Skarm. Otherwise use Brick Break on the CB set.
